  • Changing Filename Case with TortoiseSVN on Windows [migrated]

    - by Brad Turner
I've been working on a development project using a Windows machine as a test server. Eventually, I'd like the "live" version to end up on a Linux machine. While trying to test on the Linux machine, it became apparent that I needed to change the case of several file names as Windows was case insensitive but Linux wasn't. When I changed the file name case in Windows, TortoiseSVN recognized that the file hand changed and marked my folders appropriately. However, when I tried to commit my changes, not only did TortoiseSVN tell me that no changes had been made, but it had actually reverted all of the file name changes I had made back to their original case. My question is, is there a simple way to alter the file name case from a Windows PC and have the changes appear in my repository? I'd like to avoid any kind of delete, commit, replace, commit scenario to keep my commits tidy if possible. Thanks!

  • How can I change the wallpaper using a Python script?

    - by furtelwart
I want to change my wallpaper in Ubuntu 11.10 (with Unity) in a small Python script. I found the possibility to change it via the gconf-editor in /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename. With python-gconf, I'm able to change the necessary values. Apparently, the gconf string is not read out. If I change it (either via a script or via gconf-editor), the wallpaper remains and in the menu of "Change wallpaper", the old wallpaper is shown. How am I able to change the wallpaper for Unity via a Python script? The following code does work. Apparently, the gsettings are only applied, if some Gtk code is executed. #!/usr/bin/python # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- from gi.repository import Gtk, Gio class BackgroundChanger(): SCHEMA = 'org.gnome.desktop.background' KEY = 'picture-uri' def change_background(self, filename): gsettings = Gio.Settings.new(self.SCHEMA) print(gsettings.get_string(self.KEY)) print(gsettings.set_string(self.KEY, "file://" + filename)) Gtk.Window() print(gsettings.get_string(self.KEY)) if __name__ == "__main__": BackgroundChanger().change_background("/home/user/existing.jpg")

    - by kina
I tried installing the driver by typing the following commands in the terminal: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:michael-gruz/canon - the result was the following: You are about to add the following PPA to your system: More info: https://launchpad.net/~michael-gruz/+archive/canon Press [ENTER] to continue or ctrl-c to cancel adding it Then I typed: sudo apt-get update - the result was the following: Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /tmp/tmp.HDuHmOSJ0l --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80/ --recv 84E550CD36EC35430A66AC5A03396E1C3F7B4A1D gpg: requesting key 3F7B4A1D from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com gpg: key 3F7B4A1D: "Launchpad Misakovi" not changed gpg: Total number processed: 1 gpg: unchanged: 1 I typed the next command: sudo apt-get install cnijfilter-ip100series The return response was: Reading package lists... • SVN Checkout folder as local webroot

    - by Shredder
I have XAMPP installed and running. I have an SVN working directory (WD) on my local that checks out from the repository. I set up a virtual host in xampp to point to my WD, but my browser (FF) gives me a 500 http status error: Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script. When I place a regular folder in the same location with the WD and switch names, it works fine.. Can I not use an SVN working directory as a web root folder?

  • Installing wireless drivers without internet access [closed]

    - by Lucas Jones
Possible Duplicate: How can I install and download drivers without internet? (This is related to my other question; my approach there didn't work.) My friend has (I'm quite sure) a Broadcom wireless chipset. However, he doesn't have any wired internet access on the machine, so his only option is to boot into Windows (he is using Wubi) and download packages there. This means we can't use the Hardware Drivers dialog to install the drivers. He can't fetch the repository information, so the Broadcom driver packages aren't showing up in Synaptic. Is there any way to get Wi-Fi working?

  • Cannot Update through Manager or Terminal/ Software Center Does Not Work

    - by BROBA
I installed Tor a few days ago via the terminal. I deleted some hashtags in the gedit polipo, and changed my proxy settings in chrome, but was unable to make it work and have since changed all of it back. I then downloaded the Tor browser bundle which works great, but ever since then have been unable to download updates or new software. The update manager says to "check internet connection" and the software center displays a mostly blank screen under apps like "rhythmbox" and just says "available from main source" when I click on "use this source" a refresh symbol appears on the upper right corner of the software center for a split second, and then nothing happens. The app does not download and isn't available in the dash. When I try via the terminal it says it's unable to connect to my ip address. I tried changing the server and unchecking all the repository options for software sources, all to no avail. WHAT DID I DO?????

  • How to install GIMP 2.7?

    - by Bucic
Here I ask this question since Beta 2 is usable and this question would come up sooner then later ;) After issuing the standard sudo add-apt-repository ppa:matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn sudo apt-get update I get W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/binary-amd64/Packages 404 Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn/ubuntu/dists /precise/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. Is there any way to get around this. Excluding compiling from source as it usually introduces even more multilevel errors.

  • netflix on ubuntu 12.04

    - by tsi25
So I have got Ubuntu 12.04 on a system 76 lemur ultra laptop. I installed netflix via terminal with the following chain of commands: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ehoover/compholio sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install netflix-desktop when it was finished installing, I clicked the icon and something came up asking if you want to install some dependent software, but wouldn't let me interact with the window - so I hit tab and worked my way through that. But my computer shutdown before I could fully install GECKO. Now I have the netflix icon, but when i click it or right click it nothing happens. I had tried uninstalling it with the following commands, sudo apt-add --purge remove netflix-desktop and then reinstalling it but there's no change. does anyone know what I can do to get netflix to run from here? or what I can do to start troubleshooting? I searched around on AskUbuntu but couldn't find any answers to this specific problem.

  • What is it going here in my solution?

    - by bbb
I am a asp.net mvc programmer and if I want to start a project I do this: I make a class library named Model for my models. I make a class library named Infrastructure.Repository for database processes I make a class library named Application for business logic layer And finally I make a MVC project for the UI. But now some things are confusing me. Am I using 3-tier programming? If yes so what is n-tier programming and which one is better? If no so what is 3-tier programming? Some where I see that the tiers namings are DAL and BIZ. Which one is correct according to the naming convention?

  • Can you recommend a good tutorial on building custom package versions?

    - by Ivan
After installing Ubuntu 11.04 I was disappointed by the fact there are still Scala 2.7 (when 2.8 is long ago current actual branch) and Mono 2.6 (when pretty a time has passed after 2.8 release). I am not sure I could build all the packages for Mono myself, but I'd like to try making my own custom version of Scala package (and I want my system to accept it not as a different package but a version of the original, so that if I put it into a configured repository, the system will automatically upgrade to it from currently installed original 2.7). Can you recommend a good tutorial on this subject (Ubuntu deb packages building and hacking for beginners)?

  • cannot add movie file to pitivi

    - by niku
when i try adding this movie file to pitivie i get the error as follows (i can play the file in mplayer just fine tho): Problem: An internal error occurred while analyzing this file: Could not find GStreamer caps mapping for FFmpeg codec 'h264', and you are using an external libavcodec. This is most likely due to a packaging problem and/or libavcodec having been upgraded to a version that is not compatible with this version of gstreamer-ffmpeg. Make sure your gstreamer-ffmpeg and libavcodec packages come from the same source/repository. Extra information: gstffmpegdec.c(1336): gst_ffmpegdec_negotiate (): /GstPipeline:Discoverer-file:///media/Data/pitivi/taw2.mkv/GstDecodeBin2:dbin/ffdec_h264:ffdec_h2645 Also, my system language is English, but regional format is set to German. mplayer installed in German, I want it in English tho... Thanks a lot for your help :) I know I'm a noob .

The Oracle OpenWorld Content Catalog—the central repository for information on sessions, demos, labs, user groups, exhibitors, and more—is live. Right now. In the Content Catalog you can search on tracks, session types, session categories, keywords, and tags. Or, you can search for your favorite speakers to see what they’re presenting this year. • Clementine appears in two PPAs. How can I specify which one to use?

    - by S Wilson
The clementine package in 12.04 lacks spotify support. So I added the clementine PPA like this: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:me-davidsansome/clementine sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install clementine Then I installed like this: sudo apt-get install clementine=1.0.1~precise Because that's the version in the clementine-specific PPA. But now the update manager wants to update to the version from the ubuntu archive because it's newer. How can I tell it to maintain clementine from the clementine PPA, not the ubuntu PPA? I realize similar questions have been asked but not exactly this, and I can't figure it out, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • What the best way to wire up Entity Framework database context (model) to ViewModel in MVVM WPF?

    - by hal9k2
As in the question above: What the best way to wire up Entity Framework database model (context) to viewModel in MVVM (WPF)? I am learning MVVM pattern in WPF, alot of examples shows how to implement model to viewModel, but models in that examples are just simple classes, I want to use MVVM together with entity framework model (base first approach). Whats the best way to wire model to viewModel. Thanks for answers. //ctor of ViewModel public ViewModel() { db = new PackageShipmentDBEntities(); // Entity Framework generated class ListaZBazy = new ObservableCollection<Pack>(db.Packs.Where(w => w.IsSent == false)); } This is my usual ctor of ViewModel, think there is a better way, I was reading about repository pattern, not sure if I can adapt this to WPF MVVM

  • Why is my Quickly app full of fail?

    - by bstpierre
I tried to use quickly on Ubuntu 12.04 to create an application, but it does not behave as described in that linked page. I don't get a popup when creating the application (see error below). % quickly create ubuntu-application foo Creating project directory foo Creating bzr repository and committing Launching your newly created project! (foo:16847): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.desktop.interface' is not installed Congrats, your new project is setup! cd /tmp/foo/ to start hacking. It creates a project, but when I try to run, it crashes and burns: % cd foo % quickly run (foo:22639): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.desktop.interface' is not installed Is this because I'm not using gnome-shell? What can I do to get a working project? (Edit: As a side note, I'd be willing to debug this myself, but I don't even get a traceback. What do I have to do to get quickly to give me a traceback?)

  • Which VCS is more applicable for our workflow?

    - by Thomas Mancini
Currently we have code stored on a shared network drive and do not use any kind of VCS. The code stored on our shared network drive is always being backed up. We would like to keep things as close to they are now as possible, while using some kind of VCS software. I am envisioning a centralized workflow with each developer having a local copy of the code on his/her machine. We don't do any branching or working offline. Typically when we spin off a new version we would just copy the current working directory to a new directory. I believe we would continue doing this and just create a repository for the new version. I would rather not get into an argument over which VCS is better, just hoping to get some opinions for which is best suited and most applicable for what we are trying to do.

  • Bitbucket and a small development house

    - by Marlon
I am in the process of finally rolling Mercurial as our version control system at work. This is a huge deal for everyone as, shockingly, they have never used a VCS. After months of putting the bug in management's ears, they finally saw the light and now realise how much better it is than working with a network of shared folders! In the process of rolling this out, I am thinking of different strategies to manage our stuff and I am leaning towards using Bitbucket as our "central" repository. The projects in Bitbucket will solely be private projects and everyone will push and pull from there. I am open to different suggestions, but has anyone got a similar setup? If so, what caveats have you encountered?

  • How will wayland be delivered?

    - by Chris Woollard
Mark just announched support for wayland in Ubuntu in future. I was just wondering the following (Hopefully Mark can answer). Obviously this is quite a significant piece of work. When will a version be available to test? Will it be available as a package(s) in the repository or will it be delivered as its own distribution e.g. wayBuntu? When do you expect it to take over as the default (e.g. 11.11)? Thanks Chris
