• Windows 7 Pro sysprep not working

  Hello, I'm trying to sysprep a Windows 7 Professional machine, prior to grabbing an image for mass deployment on identical hardware, and am having a hard time getting sysprep to work (at all). I've created an XML answer file with WSIM, and have a basic setupcomplete.cmd file, but none of the configurations in the answer file seem to be applied. I've read technet articles and googled, and I still have no idea why this is happening. • Installing MOSS 2007 on Windows 2008 R2

  When you try to install MOSS 2007 on Windows 2008 R2, if you are using an installation media that is older than SP2, you would get the following error, saying that “This program is blocked due to compatibility issues”    All is not lost though, all you need to do is to slip stream the SP2 updates to the MOSS 2007 Setup. • TFS API Add Favorites programmatically

  01 – What are we trying to achieve? In this blog post I’ll be showing you how to add work item queries as favorites, it is also possible to use the same technique to add build definition as favorites. Once a shared query or build definition has been added as favorite it will show up on the team web access.  In this blog post I’ll be showing you a work around in the absence of a proper API how you can add queries to team favorites. 02 – Disclaimer There is no official API for adding favorites programmatically. In the work around below I am using the Identity service to store this data in a property bag which is used during display of favorites on the team web site. This uses an internal data structure that could change over time, there is no guarantee about the key names or content of the values. What is shown below is a workaround for a missing API. 03 – Concept There is no direct API support for favorites, but you could work around it using the identity service in TFS.  Favorites are stored in the property bag associated with the TeamFoundationIdentity (either the ‘team’ identity or the users identity depending on if these are ‘team’ or ‘my’ favorites).  The data is stored as json in the property bag of the identity, the key being prefixed by ‘Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server.IdentityFavorites’.   I need to purchase a single license for Visual Studio Professional with MSDN. The MSDN buy site (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/bb841434.aspx) does not allow purchases from India. It directs Indians to purchase from resellers. I contacted Microsoft and they sent me a link to a list of resellers http://www.microsoft.com/india/originalsoftware/business/retailStore1.aspx Many of these resellers do not even have a website. Many of them do not exist at the addresses mentioned (they have moved). Microsoft support personnel also seem very cagey about releasing any information. They do not even read the mail. They simply resend their canned response with the same link. There are many resellers (not mentioned in the microsoft page) who are selling MSDN subscriptions. Are they legitimate?   Hi Everyone, I've a site deployed on a developed machine. The site was developed under WSS 3.0 which contains custom List, Features, Templates, Styles etc. What I've to do is to create a deployment package (setup) which I can give away to my client. I know about stsadm but I don't have the access of the production machine. Is there a way I can package all the dependencies in a single file (installation file) and run on the server which will include all the dependencies (including site content)? I've tried to experiment this with SharePoint Content Deployment Wizard. But, this software doesn't something I'm looking for which can create a simple deployment package (after that you don't need to do anything). I might not be correct but after two days of googling I think there is no such utility (freeware) that can create a simple package of a site and install on other farm without even need to configure anything before you run the installation package. You people might have an advise which can help me to look/think outside the box and get to the solution quickly instead adding more days working on the problem. Please, share only freewares.   How do you get better than 1024x768 resolution? Just installed MS Server 2008 64bit on a Dell PowerEdge 64bit box (works OK - Previously running MS Server 2003 32bit) After install - gives a a max resultion of 1024x768 I want to change the reslution to 1280x1024 (Same LCD Worked OK on server 2003) When I down load a driver I get a messeage "Radeon 7000 does not recognise driver" Also have Have a new LG W1042 I'd like to use. This goes up to 1440

  I need to extract the ASPNET\Requests Queued performance counter from some IIS servers via WMI. The WMI class for this sort of thing appears to be contained in Win32_PerfFormattedData_ASPNET_ASPNET. I've queried all available classes in root\cimv2 on my Win 2003/IIS6 servers, and it's not listed. It is, however, available on an unrelated Win2008/IIS7 box (which is interesting but doesn't really help me much) What gives? Why is this WMI class not available on my Windows 2003 servers?

  I am planning on adding a Windows Server 2008 R2 box as a second domain controller for a client running an SBS 2003 R2 domain and have two questions. Are there any "gotchya's" involved in doing this, or do I just run ad and forest prep, promote the 2008 R2 box? How would CALs work with this setup? Would I need SBS 2008 CALs, Server 2008 CALs or would the old SBS 2003 CALs cover this setup? My thinking is I will only need Server 2008 CALs

• Hotfix entries in event log

  Server 2008/2008 R2 I'm trying to remotely monitor these servers to watch the progress of hotfixes being installed. I was able to find this in Server 2003/2003 R2: -Log: System -Source: NtServicePack It seems the above event is written when every hotfix is installed. I can't seem to find a comparable entry in Server 2008/2008 R2 though. Is there anything similar that I can easily monitor for remotely?

How can I know if additional updates are made to the kernel?   I've edited a pps file which was made with the 2003 version and saved also as compatible with Power Point 97-2003 but a friend a mine can't see the last version of the file. The original file can be seen by my computer friend. What can I do to make the new version of the pps file to be viewable on the computer of my friend? Any tips?   We recently upgraded our production boxes to Windows 2008 from Windows 2003 servers. Everything works fine except the event logging. We log at max 32000 bytes of data for each message On 2008 servers, event logging fails if number of characters is greater than 31885. Is this new limit on Windows 2008 R2 servers? Any help appreciated. On Win 2003 servers, I am able to log 32000 bytes of data for each log entry.
