  Hi! I have been using CC.NET for a while and decided to try Team City. The initial and default configuration is very easy, but how do I swap configuration files after code is checked out and before unit tests are run. I am using TFS, NUnit. 1. When working locally I have configuration file pointing to local server. 2. On the build server TeamCity get's notification that I have checked-in code and builds new version. 3. Server runs unit tests When on 3rd step server runs unit tests I need to swap configuration files that are pointing to other servers, not the ones I am using locally. • Winforms checkbox Databinding problem

  Hello everybody! In a winforms application (VB, VS2008 SP1) i bound a checkbox field to a SQL Server 2005 BIT field. The databinding itself seems to work, there is this litte problem: user creates a new record and checks the checkbox, then the user decides to create a new record (without having saved the previous, so there are 2 new records to be submitted) and checks also the second. Now the user decides to save these records: the result is that only the second record keeps the checked value, the first one is unchecked! (i tried the same with 5 records: the result is the same, the first 4 records are unchecked and only the last one keeps the checked state). What do i miss?? Thanks in advance

• c# Properties.Settings.Default Doesn't work as expected

  I've been working on a program to automate my backup checks with LogMeIn backup (a windows forms based program). I now need a way to store user settings, to save information easily. I've never worked with the Application/User settings that is somewhat "built-in" - and decided to try it, but ran into problems. I added four settings for now: IncludeCriteria (Specialized.StringCollection) ExcludeCriteria (Specialized.StringCollection) ReportPath (string) ReportType (int) But the behavior doesn't act as expected (go figure). After saving some values in my program, I go back into edit/view my settings values using the VS 2008 settings editor. None of my values are stored. While I think this may be because those values are just default values, wouldn't that be where they can be stored/read/changed? • Compiling ASP.Net 2.0 Application under .Net Framework 3.5 and Compiler reference Problems/errors .

  Hi all I am converting an ASP.Net 2.0 Project to compile for .Net Framework 3.5 and facing the following compiler error for assembly reference... InternalXmlHelper.vb(9,0): error BC30560: 'ExtensionAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices'. It appears that there are duplicate assembly references one from 2.0 and the other from 3.5 but i have double checked it and its not the issue.. I have also googled around...with no success.. I have sure that i am doing some tiny mistake in additiona or removal of references,,,Is there any special thing that needs to be checked or done when compiling asp.net 2.0 project under .Net Framework 3.5 ? • SharePoint 2007 Central Admin w3wp.exe process consumin 99% CPU

  Hi, I have been running an intranet using SharePoint 2007 for over a year and all has been working fine. However, after some time, I realized that the intranet portal was slow. Trying to access the Central Admin over another computer not the SharePoint server also became an issue. So I logged onto the real SharePoint Server and it took some ages to login and then was so slow even on the server unlike other times. When I checked the Task Manager, I found out that w3wp.exe was consuming 99% of the CPU speed. When I restarted the Central Admin App Pool, everything came back to normal and all was running well but after a few minutes (15 or so), it again became slow. I have checked the Event Logs and nothing conclusive was there to help me out. Anyone who has had this experience? or has any good resource? Please help. Thanks in advance

• "Go To Definition" in Visual Studio only brings up the Metadata

  I am working in a Web Project in Visual Studio 2008. When I hit F12 (or right-click and select Go To Definition) Visual Studio is consistently going to the Meta data file instead of going to the source. Some Points: All the source code is C#, there is no VB.Net All the projects are in the same solution Yes, everything is a project reference (checked and double-checked) I have tried the Clean/Rebuild Solution approach (even to the point of clearing out the Temp directory, Temporary ASP.NET Files directory, etc). Has anyone else seen this behavior and/or know how to fix it?

  I need some guidance on how to add a validation method to the jquery validate plugin. I've gathered that i need to use the plugin's addMethod() function, but how exactly to have it do what i need... Here i am! My form 's first question is a radio input choice. Each radio input, if selected, shows a sub-question of several checkboxes. What i would like my validation to do is: - make sure one radio input is selected - make sure at least one checkbox pertaining to the radio input is selected. Basically, out of the validate plugin's own logic, i would count the selector's length, and if there isn't any, return the error message. Something like this: var weekSelected = ($('input.seasonSelector:checked input.weekSelector:checked',form).length > 0); if(!weekSelected){ return 'Please select a week inside that season'; } How to turn that into a validate plugin method ?

• Getting a 404 when setting up MVC in IIS 6 and using .NET 4 beta 2

  Hi all, I've completed this set up on a fair few IIS 6 boxes, but one is giving me a tough time. The problem occurs when I add the application extension mapping to: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.21006\aspnet_isapi.dll When this is in place, I get a 404 error on every request. Even if I remove all files from the application directory apart from a basic test.htm and navigate to that, I still get a 404. I've unchecked the "Verify that file exists" I've set up a .NET 4 application pool and pointed my application to that I've changed the ASP.NET version to 4.0.21006 I've checked the IIS log file, and there's nothing useful in there (it only shows the first bunch of requests after each reboot and then stops logging) I've checked the application event log and nothing gets reported I've installed MVC 2 I've copied the set up onto another box, just to be sure, following all the same steps - and it all works! What else can I look out for?? N.B: If I set .NET to v2 in IIS, then I can successfully navigate to \test.htm

• Install app on Motorola Backflip from AT&T

  I'm trying to test an app out on the Motorola Backflip with AT&T as the carrier. I checked USB debugging on the phone's Development screen. Using Eclipse, how do I get the app to load on the Backflip so I can test it? DDMS shows a device with a bunch of question marks and unkown. Seems that it only gives me the option to load the app on the SD card which doesn't do me any good. I searched and found a Motorola driver which I'm supposed to install to the adb folder. Where is that folder? I've checked the phone and on my development machine. Maybe I need new glasses?

• Linq to SQl over WCF Timesout after several calls

  I have a L2S Repository class which instantiates the L2S DataContext in its constructor. The repository is instantiated at run time (using Unity) in a service hosted in IIS with WCF. When I run up the client MVC applicaton the calls to the backend WCF service work for a while and then timeout. I suspected perhaps a database issue as I was depending on IIS garbage collection to dispose of unused DataContext instances in the IIS host but when I checked the characteristics of the problem I notice the following: The client makes the call to WCF but the WCF service does not respond. Next, the client times out Some time later (several minutes) the service actually executes the request by instantiating the repository and servicing the call. I have checked both client and server traces logs and only the client shows WCF errors (the timeout error). Where should I look? Is it something in WCF or is L2S possibly blocking with unfreed conenctions, resources etc.? Many thanks Brian

But using it in the asp page does not work. • Algorithm to detect no movable pieces in Stratego.

  I am creating a Stratego Game and am having trouble creating an algorithm that can detect when there are no more possible moves because all your pieces are gone or the remaining pieces are unmovable or trapped by forbidden squares, unmovable pieces, or other trapped pieces. For simplicity you can think of the board as an array of Squares which can contain pieces. Square[][] gameBoard = new Square[10][10] Squares have easily checkable state such as hasPiece(), hasEnemyPiece(), hasUnMovablePiece(), hasMoveablePiece(), isBlocked(). It would also probably be nice if this algorithm wasn't run every time a player moved but maybe checked in the beginning and then only certain conditions were checked when the player moved.

• Can I use the TFS Object Model to interact with TFS via F#?

  I am looking for some quick ways to do some (more) complex queries across who has what checked out and things like that (eg. which files have 1 person checked out). I have been learning F# over the last year or so and saw the potential to use both the functional aspects of F# to quickly create some useful and more complex TFS commands. • IE8 Developer Tools won't open

  Just installed IE8 on WinXP. Trying to use the Dev Tools but, clicking on the menu item or hitting F12 doesn't do anything. I can see the option in the tools menu, just can't use it. I've checked to make sure it wasn't opening minimized or off screen and I've checked the registry settings used to disable them. Those registry keys don't even exists. Suggestions? I was going to reinstall, but, thought I'd check here first.

• STM32 I2C1 Start bit not set on SR1 register

  Hi guys, I am trying to program the stm32 to talk to my i2c EEprom, but it seems like everytime I say: I2C_GenerateSTART(I2C1, ENABLE); while( !(I2C_CheckEvent(I2C1, I2C_EVENT_MASTER_MODE_SELECT)) ); the code hangs here I went through with the debugger and I found that the SR1 bit 0 flag (which is the start bit generated flag) is not set which is why the code hangs. I can see in the oscilloscope that the start bit was generated and this works sometimes. it usually breaks when I tried to do several writes in a row. I checked the HW is everything looks fine I checked the frequency that I am running on the i2c bus it is 100Khz well within the 24lc1025 eeprom. any ideas, thanks

  Hi all, I'm using Git to manage my website's source code and deployment, and currently have the test and live sites running on the same box. So a few questions: IS this safe? Would a better approach be to have my base repository be the test site repository (with corresponding working directory), and then have that repository push changes to a new live site repository, which has a corresponding working directory to the live site base? This would also allow me to move the production to a different server and keep the deployment chain intact. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a different, clean way to differentiate between test and production deployments when using Git for managing websites? As an additional note in light of Vi's answer, is there a good way to do this that would handle deletions without mucking with the file system much?   Been trying to figure out, how do I capture the events from a listbox. In the template, I've added the parameter IsChecked="" which starts my method. However, the problem is trying to capture what has been checked in the method. • Zend_Form_Element_Radio option label should not be escaped

  I want to include some HTML in the labels of the radio buttons so that the user can click a link within that label. • QT creator/qt embedded widget demo problem

  I have downloaded the source code for the embedded widget demos from nokia and tried to get it to compile--I end up with the following error: Compiler (mingw32) message : In file included from ../../src/basicgraph/qtbasicgraph.cpp:9: ../../src/basicgraph/qtbasicgraph.h:14:17: QtGui: No such file or directory The offending line is #include <QtGui> QT creator 1.2.0, QT 2009.03 I have checked paths, etc, and all seems fine. I have checked to make sure that I have implicitly included QT += gui and that I have NOT included QT -= gui anywhere in the .pro and .pri files. After making no changes, I used VS2005 and the appropriate commercial version of QT 4.4.3, and it compiled and ran fine I have googled the error, and have found others asking similar questions (but not here) but no posted answers...so I would appreciate any help. thanks Jonathan Howland

• Xcode is not building the Binary

  Hello, Xcode is doing something bizzare which I at one point in time fixed but now for the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong. Xcode is building my project fine - no errors on a clean-all build. All my product names and info.plists agree, all the settings appear to be correct. I've only got the one build configuration (I always delete all of them except when I got to actually release something - waay to many invisible problems with these things). Except that it is not generating binaries for my code. Eh wot? I have recently checked the code out on a new computer, and I checked all the paths and everything exists where it should. any help is appreciated. It is not throwing any errors and neither the binary for the .app nor the .plugin (project.app/Contents/MacOS/THERE IS NOTHING HERE). Thanks!!! -Stephen

• Combine DVCS with Visual Source Safe

  I'm forced to use Visual Source Safe 2005 at work. I'd like to combine that with a DVCS, so that I can check in files locally without disrupting my co-workers if there's a bug or it doesn't compile. In my attempts with Mercurial, it works, but causes a few weird issues. Namely, it thinks someone else has checked out the files I have checked out. Here's my thoughts on how I should manage it: Disable auto-checkout. Work locally in Mercurial When I'm ready to push my changes... Clone my Mercurial repository. Update my Visual Source Safe repository Pull and merge the two repositories using Mercurial. Check everything into Visual Source Safe. Does this sound reasonable? I'm always hearing bad things about VSS, is this just asking for me to see those problems firsthand?

• SQL Server 2008 database mirroring madness

  I'm trying to get database mirroring to work on SQL Server 2008 between two computers. I checked connectivity, but here's what I end up with: on the principal machine, the server can connect to the mirror but refuses to set up a mirroring partnership due to it being 'unable to connect' (I checked connectivity, everything works). The weird thing has happened on the mirror. First, the mirror now thinks it's being mirrored. Second, after I delete and recover the mirrored database, it goes into Restoring... mode and just gets stuck there. Any ideas you might have on this are appreciated. Thanks!
