• How do you set the "global delimiter" in Excel using VBA (or unicorns)?

  I've noticed that if I use the text-to-columns feature with comma as the delimiter, any comma-delimited data I paste into Excel after that will be automatically split into columns. This makes me think Excel must have some kind of global delimiter. If this is true, how would I set this global delimiter using Excel VBA? Is it possible to do this directly, or do I need to "trick" Excel by doing a text-to-columns on some junk data, then delete the data? My ultimate goal is to be able to paste in a bunch of data from different files using a macro, and have Excel automatically split it into columns according to the delimiter I set.

• command line tool text output

  I have a small command line tool and after running it, I'd like to display the text output in a way that's easy for someone to copy/paste and save it or email it to someone else. Copy/pasting from a command prompt is not done in the standard way, so I don't want people to have to copy/paste from there. Saving the file to disk is possible, but the folder where the tool is located may not have access rights so the user would have to configure the output file location (this may be too tricky for some users). I was thinking of launching notepad with some text in it, generated from the command line tool. Is this possible? Any other suggestions?

  I readed few book and acticles about Convolutional neural network, it seem I understand the concept but I don't know how to put it up like in image below: from 28x28 normalized pixel INPUT we get 4 feature map 24x24. but how to get them ? size the INPUT image ? or perform image transformation? but what kind of transformation? or cut up the input image to 4 piece 24x24 by 4 corner? I don't understand the process to me it seem they cut up or resize the image to more smaller at each step. please help thanks.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The value for the path of the All Users desktop, which is found there, is as follows: XP or earlier : [%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Desktop] Vista or later: [%PUBLIC%\Desktop] Whereas the actual paths of the All User desktops, respectively, are as follows: XP or earlier : "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop" Vista or later: "C:\Users\Public\Desktop" Now, if you use copy and paste the above registry values in Windows Explorer and hit enter it takes you to the actual folders. My question is this; how do I reproduce this behavior from withing a C# program? To be more specific, if I retrieve the registry value [%PUBLIC%\Desktop] from withing a C# program, which I can do easily, how do I convert it to ["C:\Users\Public\Desktop"]? Obviously I'm not looking for a string replacement, I need to do what Windows does.

However that's not so practical; I'm not a javascript developer, haven't got firebug installed, and I can't install it anywhere I go.   Hello Although I have no problem using SecureCRT (5.1.2 build 274) to work from Windows and connect to PC's running Linux, I have a problem when connecting to an embedded Asterisk appliance that provides"vi" through BusyBox 1.4.1 (2008-03-10).   I just spent a few hours pulling my hair out over this. If I copy and paste the command string, and paste it into the terminal it works perfectly. Also if I replace the command string with something like $command = "echo test > test.txt"; Then this has no problem creating the text file. What could I possibly be doing wrong here???

• Problem with Wicket and SignInExample in IE8

  I have an interesting problem with Wicket. I'm basically duplicating the 'authentication' example from the v1.4.x in SVN. It works fine in FireFox and Chrome but not in IE8. When in IE8, after I click the submit button it returns with a 404 error but i can manually paste the "destination" url in and it goes there fine (as an authenticated user). Another scenario is, I try to login, it gives me a 404, I hit refresh (looking at the html source I see the page version incremented), relogin and it works fine. So to summarize: I login the first time in IE8 and it returns a 404 error, hit refresh and ogin again and it works fine. I login the first time in IE8 and it returns a 404 error, manually paste the destination url in the browser and it goes there fine as if im logged in. I've compared everything between IE8 and FireFox from the rendered source and the code is not doing anything special but I cannot figure out what the differences are? Thanks. KJQ

I paste the directory and file names together, read the data from the files in, and then rbind them all together into a single chunk of data. Except the result of the lapply has the data in [[]] - i.e., accessing it occurs via a[[1]], a[[2]], etc which rbind doesn't seem to accept. Suggestions?

  A scroll follow effect is when a part of the web design is always visible, even when the window is scrolled. There are animated and static versions of this. The animated is ok http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index.html But I prefer the fixed version, however I have some bugs: http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index_fixed.html -In Firefox, when you scroll the page, you will see a kind of vertical cut in the lorem ipsum text (below the HERE indication). This is caused by the image tiles of the map, then if you drag and drop the map, the cut will appear in another side. -In Safari, when you scroll the page, the div follows, but the map images stay in the same position. Do you have solutions for theses issues? Thanks.

  There is a snippet of code that I would like to copy and paste into my Python interpreter. Unfortunately due to Python's sensitivity to whitespace it is not straightforward to copy and paste it a way that makes sense. (I think the whitespace gets mangled) Is there a better way? Maybe I can load the snippet from a file. I run paste -d" " t.tex tE.tex | sed 's@$@XXX@' > tM.tex where the problem is in the use of the mark $ for the end of the line. The parameters -n and -e do not help here. The command works as expected run when it is run directly in terminal.

• SQL Server (TSQL) - Is it possible to EXEC statements in parallel?

  SQL Server 2008 R2 Here is a simplified example: EXECUTE sp_executesql N'PRINT ''1st '' + convert(varchar, getdate(), 126) WAITFOR DELAY ''000:00:10''' EXECUTE sp_executesql N'PRINT ''2nd '' + convert(varchar, getdate(), 126)' The first statement will print the date and delay 10 seconds before proceeding. The second statement should print immediately. The way T-SQL works, the 2nd statement won't be evaluated until the first completes. If I copy and paste it to a new query window, it will execute immediately. The issue is that I have other, more complex things going on, with variables that need to be passed to both procedures. What I am trying to do is: Get a record Lock it for a period of time while it is locked, execute some other statements against this record and the table itself Perhaps there is a way to dynamically create a couple of jobs? Anyway, I am looking for a simple way to do this without having to manually PRINT statements and copy/paste to another session. Is there a way to EXEC without wait / in parallel?

When parsing a Google Contact file I exported it weirdly fails. But when I simply copy the string that is echo'd and paste that instead of the file_get_contents result, it parses and works. Any idea why it is refusing to take the file_get_contents string, but if I paste in the raw data myself, it works?

• Multithreaded update of multiple ProgressBars

  I have developped an application that can process data (in my case image algorithms performed on videos). I have developed different ProcessingMethods. Sometimes several videos are processed in parallel. Each process runs in a seperate thread. I have a GUI with several ProgressBars, one for each thread that is processing data. What is a good way to update the ProgressBar? Today my GUI is creating all the processing threads and one progressBars for each thread. Then I pass those progressBars to the threads, which pass them to the ProcessingMethod. The ProcessingMethod will then update the progressbar (using Invoke(..)). I have different processingMethods. Within each of these methods I have copy-paste code to update the progressBar. Although I am a new to programming, I know copy-paste is not good. What is a good way to make it better?
