Somebody suggested in my previous question to do the following:- create a temporary table and insert here all relevant data that might end up in the final result set run several updates on this table, joining the required tables one at a time instead of all of them at the same time finally perform a query on this temporary table to extract the end result All this was done in a stored procedure, the end result has passed unit tests, and is blazing fast. I have never worked with temporary tables till now. Only if I could get some hints, kind of schematic representations so that I can start with... Is there something faulty with the query? What can be the reason behind 10+ seconds of execution time? How tags work in this system? When a tutor registers, tags are entered and tag relations are created with respect to tutor's details like name, surname etc. When a Tutors create packs, again tags are entered and tag relations are created with respect to pack's details like pack name, description etc. tag relations for tutors stored in tutors_tag_relations and those for packs stored in learning_packs_tag_relations.   • Defining a ContextMenu in a DataGridRow style

    I'm trying to clean up some of my xaml in my views by moving a lot of the DataGrid styles into a ResourceDictionary. One of the things I'd like to move is the ContextMenu that is bound to some commands in the ViewModel. However, when I move the context menu to the ResourceDictionary, the commands are are never firing anymore, and I can't figure out why. I've defined the ContextMenu in the DataGridRow style so that when the user right clicks on the columnheader, no ContextMenu is shown... it will only be shown they right click on a row. Am I doing something wrong here?   • NSIS takes ownership of IIS system files

    I recently encountered an issue with NSIS that I believe is related to an interaction with UAC, but I am at a loss to explain it and I do not know how to prevent it in the future. I have an installer that creates and removes IIS virtual directories using the NsisIIS plugin. The installer appeared worked correctly on my Windows 7 workstation. When the installer was run on a Windows 2008 R2 server it installed properly, but the uninstaller removed all of the virtual directories and put IIS is an unusable state; to the point that I had to remove the Default Web Site and re-add it. What I eventually found was that all of the IIS configuration files under C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config had a lock icon on them. Some investigation seem to indicate that this means a user account has taken ownership of the file, however all the files listed SYSTEM as the file owner. I did check a different server that I have not run the installer on, and it does not have the lock icon applied to the IIS files. I have also seen the same lock icon appear on other files that the NSIS installer creates. For instance, I have a Web.Config.tpl file that is processed using the NSIS ReplaceInFile which also appears with the lock icon after the installer finished. After I explicitly grant another user account access to the file, the lock icon goes away. I run the installer under the local Administrator account on the 2008 R2 server, so I do not get the UAC prompt.     Hi, I'm working on a project and need to create a screen similar to the iPhone home screen: A scrollview with multiple pages A bunch of icons When not in edit mode, swipe through different pages (even I started the touch on an icon) When not in edit mode, tap an icon to do something When in edit mode, drag the icon to swap places, and even swap to different pages When in edit mode, tap an icon to remove it Previously I read from several forums that I have to subclass UIScrollview in order to have touch input for the UIViews on top of it. So I subclassed it overriding the methods to handle touches: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { //If not dragging, send event to next responder if (!self.dragging) [self.nextResponder touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; else [super touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } In general I've override the touchesBegan:, touchesMoved: and touchesEnded: methods similarly. Then in the view controller, I added to following code: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; UIView *hitView = (UIView *)touch.view; if ([hitView isKindOfClass:[UIView class]]) { [hitView doSomething]; NSLog(@"touchesBegan"); } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { // Some codes to move the icons NSLog(@"touchesMoved"); } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"touchesEnded"); } When I run the app, I have the touchesBegan method detected correctly. However, when I tried to drag the icon, the icon just moved a tiny bit and then the page started to scroll. In console, it logged with 2 or 3 "touchesMoved" message only. However, I learned from another project that it should logged tonnes of "touchesMoved" message as long as I'm still dragging on the screen. (I'm suspecting I have the delaysContentTouches set to YES, so it delays a little bit when I tried to drag the icons. After that minor delay, it sends to signal back to the scrollview to scroll through the page. Please correct me if I'm wrong.) So if any help on the code to perform the above tasks would be greatly appreciated. I've stuck in this place for nearly a week with no hope. Thanks a lot.

But, when I minimize the app using "arrow" button on device and then press and hold home button and clicks on my app icon the application starts and performs the same last action which have been performed by clicking the last notification. I figured out that when we click the app icon the application starts with last intent triggered by the notification. Can anyone help in this?

    I currently have implemented an overlayitem that shows an icon for geopoint on a map application in Android. When the icon is clicked, it brings up an AlertDialog from the onTap method below. I have the following questions: Does anyone know how to display a map message bubble directly above the icon overlayitem with 2 callout buttons one to the left of the title and one to the right of the bubble? Does anyone know how to make the overlayitem draggable so I can press and hold it and drag it across the map. I am trying to duplicate the draggable icon behavior that's available on the iPhone. If so, please share some sample code.   • C#: Why am I still getting an RCW error when exiting my application?

    To be specific, the error is: An attempt has been made to free an RCW that is in use. The RCW is in use on the active thread or another thread. Attempting to free an in-use RCW can cause corruption or data loss. The application in question is a small applet that displays the current clock speed of the CPU as a system tray icon. I'm using a System.Timers.Timer object to refresh the systray icon at an interval of 2.5 seconds. There's a single context menu item to exit the application, which uses the following function to unload everything: public void ExitApp(object sender, EventArgs e) { //stop and disable the timer theInterval.Stop(); theInterval.Enabled = false; //unload the system tray icon TheIcon.Visible = false; //exit the application Application.Exit(); } If I take out everything but Application.Exit(); I get an RCW error and the systray icon doesn't go away until I mouse over it. Everything was working perfectly until I changed the window style of the hidden form used to initialize the systray icon and the timer. If it helps any, I'm using C# 2010 Express.

    What I do: Try to extract thumbnail using IExtractImage if that fail I try to extract icons using IExtractIcon, to get maximum iconsize, but IExtractIcon gives strange results. Problem is I tried to use a methode that extracts icons from an imagelist but if there is no large icon (256x256) it will render the smaller icon at the topleft position of the icon and that does not look good. That is why I am trying to use the IExtractIcon instead. But icons that show up as 256x256 icons in my imagelist extraction methode reports icon sizes as 33 large and 16 small. So how do I check if a large (256x256) icon exists?   • Obfuscating Geocode results to protect privacy?

    I have an app that finds other users within a 20 mile radius on a google map and associates an icon with each of them. However, I do not want their exact points to be given but rather an approximation. I've wrestled with a few ideas on how to do this: Only Geocode the Zip Code, make graphic icons for 1-99, use the icon to represent how many results are within the zip code, and use the info window to show hyperlinks to the individual results. The only problem is, I'd like each individual icon to be shown because it just looks a lot better. Add/Subtract a random number to the lat/lng values stored with each user and add a translucent circle around the icon. What do you guys suggest?

  • Is there a way to get different sizes of the Windows system icons in .NET?

    In particular I'd like to be able to get the small (16 x 16) icons at runtime. I tried this: new Icon(SystemIcons.Error, SystemInformation.SmallIconSize) Which supposedly "attempts to find a version of the icon that matches the requested size", but it's still giving me a 32 x 32 icon. I also tried: Size iconSize = SystemInformation.SmallIconSize; Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(iconSize.Width, iconSize.Height); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bitmap)) { g.DrawIcon(SystemIcons.Error, new Rectangle(Point.Empty, iconSize)); } But that just scales the 32 x 32 icon down into an ugly 16 x 16. I've considered just pulling icons out of the VS Image Library, but I really want them to vary dynamically with the OS (XP icons on XP, Vista icons on Vista, etc.). I'm willing to P/Invoke if that's what it takes.

    Hi, I am trying to figure out how can I copy DispatcherObject (in my case BitmapSource) into another thread. Use case: I have a WPF app that needs to show window in a new thread (the app is actually Outlook addin and we need to do this because Outlook has some hooks in the main UI thread and is stealing certain hotkeys that we need to use - 'lost in translation' in interop of Outlook, WPF (which we use for UI), and Winforms (we need to use certain microsoft-provided winforms controls)). With that, I have my implementation of WPFMessageBox, that is configured by setting some static properties - and and one of them is BitmapSource for icon. This is used so that in startup I can set WPFMessageBox.Icon once, and since then, every WPFMessageBox will have the same icon. The problem is that BitmapSource, which is assigned into icon, is a DispatcherObject, and when read, it will throw InvalidOperationException: "The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it.". How can I clone that BitmapSource into the actual thread? It has Clone() and CloneCurrentValue() methods, which don't work (they throw the same exception as well). It also occured to me to use originalIcon.Dispatcher.Invoke( do the cloning here ) - but the BitmapSource's Dispatcher is null, and still - I'd create a copy on a wrong thread and still couldnt use it on mine. BitmapSource.IsFrozen == true. Any idea on how to copy the BitmapSource into different thread (without completely reconstructing it from an image file in a new thread)?   • Really annoying bug with Topmost property in Windows Forms

    Hi, I have this Windows Forms application where it sits in the notification area. Clicking on the icon brings it up front, clicking it again (or clicking on the app X icon) sends it back. This is the type of app that having the window always on top is important when it's displayed by clicking the icon, but it's optional. Right-clicking the icon brings up a context menu where one can select to enable the "always on top" option or not. When the application first starts up, the app settings are read from an XML file and I'm 99% that this is working as it should, the Topmost properly is properly read (and written). After some time (minutes, hours, days, whatever, I normally hibernate and rarely shutdown) the Topmost stops working. I don't change the option, I don't think anything is changing the option but I click the notification area icon and app is not brought up front. It shows up (it displays on Alt+Tab) but it's on the background, it's not topmost as it should. I bring up the context menu, disable the option (cause it's enabled) and enable it back and it starts to work after that. The app is now topmost. However, it can lose this ability anytime after while. I can't understand why this happens and how this happens. Does anyone have any idea why? If not, any idea how could I try to debug such behavior?

  • Use CFBundleIconFiles or CFBundleIcons?

    According to apple, it's better to use CFBundleIcons in plist if iOS5 or greater. Now if I use CFBundleIcons then Xcode 5 seems doesn't recognize those items, but it looks like on device proper icon is selected. I've followed option in Apple's document and provided filename with extensions for all resolutions. The icons I'm using: If I use CFBundleIconFiles then Xcode 5 will not complain, but on device wrong icon is selected (iOS5 iPad2, system selected 80px iOS7 icon instead of 72px).
