• How to generate a certificate request with SubjectAltNames on IIS 6.0 ?

  I'm looking for a way to add a Subject Alternative Name in my certificate request in the IIS 6.0 certificate creation wizard. It seems I can only fill the Subject field and not the Subject Alternative Name. Trying to follow this guide (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931351) using certreq.exe doesn't help, it fails without any hint except that it prints its manual. Any suggestions appreciated, I hope I won't have to export my public key and generate the csr with openssl :/

And am I correct in assuming this is the cause of my problems? Note: To upgrade Ruby I installed the later version with apt-get and then switched to it by using update-alternatives --config ruby and selecting option 2 like this: root@ubuntu:/usr/local/pete-shopify/cart# update-alternatives --config ruby There are 2 choices for the alternative ruby (providing /usr/bin/ruby).   Are there any tools that can verify whether a jQuery plugin will be compatible with the latest version of jQuery? Once a large number of jQuery plugins are selected and in use, an unknown number of dependencies can develop. It would be nice to upgrade jQuery, however not all plugins remain supported or provide consistently architected upgrades. The only option seems to be adhoc manual regression testing. It would be nice to have a strategy for dealing with this issue.

AFAIK IOCP allows you to receive notification on completed operations like data read or written (proactor) but I'm looking for reactor style of operations: I need to get notification when the socket is readable or writable (reactor). Something similar to epoll, kqueue, /dev/poll ? Is there such API in Win32? If so where can I find a manual on it?

  I was reading the C# entry on Wikipedia, and came across: Managed memory cannot be explicitly freed; instead, it is automatically garbage collected. Why is it that in languages with automatic memory management, manual management isn't even allowed? I can see that in most cases it wouldn't be necessary, but wouldn't it come in handy where you are tight on memory and don't want to rely on the GC being smart?

  I'm just digging into the gcc manual and some things are still unclear to me: When specifying a std, should I always use -pedantic in conjunction? When using -g, it the standard level sufficient or should I specify level 3, i.e. -g3? Is it good practice to use -Werror to promote all warnings to errors and -pedantic-errors to promote all pedantic warnings to errors?
