  • How can this PHP code be improved? What should change?

    - by Noctis Skytower
    This is a custom encryption library. I do not know much about PHP's standard library of functions and was wondering if the following code can be improved in any way. The implementation should yield the same results, the API should remain as it is, but ways to make is more PHP-ish would be greatly appreciated. Code <?php /*************************************** Create random major and minor SPICE key. ***************************************/ function crypt_major() { $all = range("\x00", "\xFF"); shuffle($all); $major_key = implode("", $all); return $major_key; } function crypt_minor() { $sample = array(); do { array_push($sample, 0, 1, 2, 3); } while (count($sample) != 256); shuffle($sample); $list = array(); for ($index = 0; $index < 64; $index++) { $b12 = $sample[$index * 4] << 6; $b34 = $sample[$index * 4 + 1] << 4; $b56 = $sample[$index * 4 + 2] << 2; $b78 = $sample[$index * 4 + 3]; array_push($list, $b12 + $b34 + $b56 + $b78); } $minor_key = implode("", array_map("chr", $list)); return $minor_key; } /*************************************** Create the SPICE key via the given name. ***************************************/ function named_major($name) { srand(crc32($name)); return crypt_major(); } function named_minor($name) { srand(crc32($name)); return crypt_minor(); } /*************************************** Check validity for major and minor keys. ***************************************/ function _check_major($key) { if (is_string($key) && strlen($key) == 256) { foreach (range("\x00", "\xFF") as $char) { if (substr_count($key, $char) == 0) { return FALSE; } } return TRUE; } return FALSE; } function _check_minor($key) { if (is_string($key) && strlen($key) == 64) { $indexs = array(); foreach (array_map("ord", str_split($key)) as $byte) { foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { array_push($indexs, ($byte >> $shift) & 3); } } $dict = array_count_values($indexs); foreach (range(0, 3) as $index) { if ($dict[$index] != 64) { return FALSE; } } return TRUE; } return FALSE; } /*************************************** Create encode maps for encode functions. ***************************************/ function _encode_map_1($major) { return array_map("ord", str_split($major)); } function _encode_map_2($minor) { $map_2 = array(array(), array(), array(), array()); $list = array(); foreach (array_map("ord", str_split($minor)) as $byte) { foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { array_push($list, ($byte >> $shift) & 3); } } for ($byte = 0; $byte < 256; $byte++) { array_push($map_2[$list[$byte]], chr($byte)); } return $map_2; } /*************************************** Create decode maps for decode functions. ***************************************/ function _decode_map_1($minor) { $map_1 = array(); foreach (array_map("ord", str_split($minor)) as $byte) { foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { array_push($map_1, ($byte >> $shift) & 3); } } return $map_1; }function _decode_map_2($major) { $map_2 = array(); $temp = array_map("ord", str_split($major)); for ($byte = 0; $byte < 256; $byte++) { $map_2[$temp[$byte]] = chr($byte); } return $map_2; } /*************************************** Encrypt or decrypt the string with maps. ***************************************/ function _encode($string, $map_1, $map_2) { $cache = ""; foreach (str_split($string) as $char) { $byte = $map_1[ord($char)]; foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { $cache .= $map_2[($byte >> $shift) & 3][mt_rand(0, 63)]; } } return $cache; } function _decode($string, $map_1, $map_2) { $cache = ""; $temp = str_split($string); for ($iter = 0; $iter < strlen($string) / 4; $iter++) { $b12 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4])] << 6; $b34 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4 + 1])] << 4; $b56 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4 + 2])] << 2; $b78 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4 + 3])]; $cache .= $map_2[$b12 + $b34 + $b56 + $b78]; } return $cache; } /*************************************** This is the public interface for coding. ***************************************/ function encode_string($string, $major, $minor) { if (is_string($string)) { if (_check_major($major) && _check_minor($minor)) { $map_1 = _encode_map_1($major); $map_2 = _encode_map_2($minor); return _encode($string, $map_1, $map_2); } } return FALSE; } function decode_string($string, $major, $minor) { if (is_string($string) && strlen($string) % 4 == 0) { if (_check_major($major) && _check_minor($minor)) { $map_1 = _decode_map_1($minor); $map_2 = _decode_map_2($major); return _decode($string, $map_1, $map_2); } } return FALSE; } ?> This is a sample showing how the code is being used.   • Can I configure Wndows NDES server to use Triple DES (3DES) algorithm for PKCS#7 answer encryption?

    - by O.Shevchenko
I am running SCEP client to enroll certificates on NDES server. If OpenSSL is not in FIPS mode - everything works fine. In FIPS mode i get the following error: pkcs7_unwrap():pkcs7.c:708] error decrypting inner PKCS#7 139968442623728:error:060A60A3:digital envelope routines:FIPS_CIPHERINIT:disabled for fips:fips_enc.c:142: 139968442623728:error:21072077:PKCS7 routines:PKCS7_decrypt:decrypt error:pk7_smime.c:557: That's because NDES server uses DES algorithm to encrypt returned PKCS#7 packet. I used the following debug code: /* Copy enveloped data from PKCS#7 */ bytes = BIO_read(pkcs7bio, buffer, sizeof(buffer)); BIO_write(outbio, buffer, bytes); p7enc = d2i_PKCS7_bio(outbio, NULL); /* Get encryption PKCS#7 algorithm */ enc_alg=p7enc->d.enveloped->enc_data->algorithm; evp_cipher=EVP_get_cipherbyobj(enc_alg->algorithm); printf("evp_cipher->nid = %d\n", evp_cipher->nid); The last string always prints: evp_cipher-nid = 31 defined in openssl-1.0.1c/include/openssl/objects.h #define SN_des_cbc "DES-CBC" #define LN_des_cbc "des-cbc" #define NID_des_cbc 31 I use 3DES algorithm for PKCS7 requests encryption in my code (pscep.enc_alg = (EVP_CIPHER *)EVP_des_ede3_cbc()) and NDES server accepts these requests, but it always returns answer encrypted with DES. Can I configure Wndows NDES server to use Triple DES (3DES) algorithm for PKCS#7 answer encryption?

  • how to add bouncycastle algorithm to android

    - by Vamsi
Hi friends, I am trying to write a small application using bouncycastle algorithm, from the http://tinyurl.com/ylclavn (BouncyCastleProvider.java) it says we have to import and add the provider during runtime by the following code import org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider; Security.addProvider(new BouncyCastleProvider()); error - The import org.bouncycastle cannot be resolved; during import error - BouncyCastleProvider cannot be resolved to a type; when calling addProvider I though bouncycastle is not provided with the Android 1.6 SDK, so thought of installing separately. how should i do this? If Bouncycastle is shipped along with SDK, what should i do to avoid these errors? I am using Android 1.6, eclipse-V3.4.0 on winXP . Thanks in advance

  • How to decrypt a string in C# that was encrypted in Delphi

    - by Simon Linder
Hi all, we have a project written in Delphi that we want to convert to C#. Problem is that we have some passwords and settings that are encrypted and written into the registry. When we need a specified password we get it from the registry and decrypt it so we can use it. For the conversion into C# we have to do it the same way so that the application can also be used by users that have the old version and want to upgrade it. Here is the code we use to encrypt/decrypt strings in Delphi: unit uCrypt; interface function EncryptString(strPlaintext, strPassword : String) : String; function DecryptString(strEncryptedText, strPassword : String) : String; implementation uses DCPcrypt2, DCPblockciphers, DCPdes, DCPmd5; const CRYPT_KEY = '1q2w3e4r5t6z7u8'; function EncryptString(strPlaintext) : String; var cipher : TDCP_3des; strEncryptedText : String; begin if strPlaintext <> '' then begin try cipher := TDCP_3des.Create(nil); try cipher.InitStr(CRYPT_KEY, TDCP_md5); strEncryptedText := cipher.EncryptString(strPlaintext); finally cipher.Free; end; except strEncryptedText := ''; end; end; Result := strEncryptedText; end; function DecryptString(strEncryptedText) : String; var cipher : TDCP_3des; strDecryptedText : String; begin if strEncryptedText <> '' then begin try cipher := TDCP_3des.Create(nil); try cipher.InitStr(CRYPT_KEY, TDCP_md5); strDecryptedText := cipher.DecryptString(strEncryptedText); finally cipher.Free; end; except strDecryptedText := ''; end; end; Result := strDecryptedText; end; end. So for example when we want to encrypt the string asdf1234 we get the result WcOb/iKo4g8=. We now want to decrypt that string in C#. Here is what we tried to do: public static void Main(string[] args) { string Encrypted = "WcOb/iKo4g8="; string Password = "1q2w3e4r5t6z7u8"; string DecryptedString = DecryptString(Encrypted, Password); } public static string DecryptString(string Message, string Passphrase) { byte[] Results; System.Text.UTF8Encoding UTF8 = new System.Text.UTF8Encoding(); // Step 1. We hash the passphrase using MD5 // We use the MD5 hash generator as the result is a 128 bit byte array // which is a valid length for the TripleDES encoder we use below MD5CryptoServiceProvider HashProvider = new MD5CryptoServiceProvider(); byte[] TDESKey = HashProvider.ComputeHash(UTF8.GetBytes(Passphrase)); // Step 2. Create a new TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider object TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider TDESAlgorithm = new TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider(); // Step 3. Setup the decoder TDESAlgorithm.Key = TDESKey; TDESAlgorithm.Mode = CipherMode.ECB; TDESAlgorithm.Padding = PaddingMode.None; // Step 4. Convert the input string to a byte[] byte[] DataToDecrypt = Convert.FromBase64String(Message); // Step 5. Attempt to decrypt the string try { ICryptoTransform Decryptor = TDESAlgorithm.CreateDecryptor(); Results = Decryptor.TransformFinalBlock(DataToDecrypt, 0, DataToDecrypt.Length); } finally { // Clear the TripleDes and Hashprovider services of any sensitive information TDESAlgorithm.Clear(); HashProvider.Clear(); } // Step 6. Return the decrypted string in UTF8 format return UTF8.GetString(Results); } Well the result differs from the expected result. After we call DecryptString() we expect to get asdf1234but we get something else. Does anyone have an idea of how to decrypt that correctly? Thanks in advance Simon

  • Using the Rijndael Object in VB.NET

    - by broke
I'm trying out the Rijndael to generate an encrypted license string to use for our new software, so we know that our customers are using the same amount of apps that they paid for. I'm doing two things: Getting the users computer name. Adding a random number between 100 and 1000000000 I then combine the two, and use that as the license number(This probably will change in the final version, but I'm just doing something simple for demonstration purposes). Here is some sample codez: Private Sub Main_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim generator As New Random Dim randomValue As Integer randomValue = generator.Next(100, 1000000000) ' Create a new Rijndael object to generate a key ' and initialization vector (IV). Dim RijndaelAlg As Rijndael = Rijndael.Create ' Create a string to encrypt. Dim sData As String = My.Computer.Name.ToString + randomValue.ToString Dim FileName As String = "C:\key.txt" ' Encrypt text to a file using the file name, key, and IV. EncryptTextToFile(sData, FileName, RijndaelAlg.Key, RijndaelAlg.IV) ' Decrypt the text from a file using the file name, key, and IV. Dim Final As String = DecryptTextFromFile(FileName, RijndaelAlg.Key, RijndaelAlg.IV) txtDecrypted.Text = Final End Sub That's my load event, but here is where the magic happens: Sub EncryptTextToFile(ByVal Data As String, ByVal FileName As String, ByVal Key() As Byte, ByVal IV() As Byte) Dim fStream As FileStream = File.Open(FileName, FileMode.OpenOrCreate) Dim RijndaelAlg As Rijndael = Rijndael.Create Dim cStream As New CryptoStream(fStream, _ RijndaelAlg.CreateEncryptor(Key, IV), _ CryptoStreamMode.Write) Dim sWriter As New StreamWriter(cStream) sWriter.WriteLine(Data) sWriter.Close() cStream.Close() fStream.Close() End Sub There is a couple things I don't understand. What if someone reads the text file and recognizes that it is Rijndael, and writes a VB or C# app that decrypts it? I don't really understand all of this code, so if you guys can help me out I will love you all forever. Thanks in advance

  • Can I encrypt web.config with a custom protection provider who's assembly is not in the GAC?

    - by James
I have written a custom protected configuration provider for my web.config. When I try to encrypt my web.config with it I get the following error from aspnet_iisreg aspnet_regiis.exe -pef appSettings . -prov CustomProvider (This is running in my MSBuild) Could not load file or assembly 'MyCustomProviderNamespace' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. After checking with the Fusion log, I confirm it is checking both the GAC, and 'C:/WINNT/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/' (the location of aspnet_iisreg). But it cannot find the provider. I do not want to move my component into the GAC, I want to leave the custom assembly in my ApplicationBase to copy around to various servers without having to pull/push from the GAC. Here is my provider configuration in the web.config. <configProtectedData> <providers> <add name="CustomProvider" type="MyCustomProviderNamespace.MyCustomProviderClass, MyCustomProviderNamespace" /> </providers> </configProtectedData> I want aspnet_iisreg to check my ApplicationBase Bin folder for this assembly. Has anyone got any ideas?

  • Easiest way to decrypt PGP-encrypted files from VBA (MS Access)

    - by stucampbell
I need to write code that picks up PGP-encrypted files from an FTP location and processes them. The files will be encrypted with my public key (not that I have one yet). Obviously, I need a PGP library that I can use from within Microsoft Access. Can you recommend one that is easy to use? I'm looking for something that doesn't require a huge amount of PKI knowledge. Ideally, something that will easily generate the one-off private/public key pair, and then have a simple routine for decryption.

  • use bouncy castle libraries to encrypt files using public key from digital certificate

    - by mike
I got the public key from the certificate, keypair is a java.security.KeyPair object String public_key = keypair.getPublic().toString(); I want to send this to the via an http connection to a J2me application. I cannot find any documentation to convert the transmitted string to a Public key that can be used to encrypt Strings. I also want the J2me to verify signed strings from the server. I want to then send the encrypted strings back to the server.

  • C# HMAC Implementation Problem

    - by Emanuel
I want my application to encrypt a user password, and at one time password will be decrypted to be sent to the server for authentication. A friend advise me to use HMAC. I wrote the following code in C#: System.Text.ASCIIEncoding encoding = new System.Text.ASCIIEncoding(); byte[] key = encoding.GetBytes("secret"); HMACSHA256 myhmacsha256 = new HMACSHA256(key); byte[] hashValue = myhmacsha256.ComputeHash(encoding.GetBytes("text")); string resultSTR = Convert.ToBase64String(hashValue); myhmacsha256.Clear(); How to decode the password (resultSTR, in this case)? Thanks.

  • PGP Encrypt from C# using GnuPG

    - by Kishore
Hello All, I'm trying to encrypt a incoming document in C#, and I'm using GnuPG with input redirection. I need to use -se(sign and encrypt) in a single step, which requires entering passphrase. But for some reason, input redirection is not working. Appreciate your help. Control is going to else block. I'm not sure if there is deadlock or child process(gpg.exe) waiting for the input. pgpproc = new Process(); pgpproc.StartInfo.FileName = exeFilePath; pgpproc.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = false; pgpproc.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true; pgpproc.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; pgpproc.StartInfo.Arguments = "-a -o C:\PGPStaging\output.pgp -se -r recipientID C:\PGPStaging\input.txt"; pgpproc.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; pgpproc.Start(); StreamWriter myStreamWriter = pgpproc.StandardInput; myStreamWriter.Write("*****"); myStreamWriter.Close(); if (pgpproc.WaitForExit(waittime)) { //success } else { //failure pgpproc.Kill(); pgpproc.WaitForExit(); } `

  • Encrypt nsdata in iphone and decrypt it in php

    - by Gaurav Arora
Hi All, I am new to Iphone development , I want to create an application in which I have to upload some data on php server using my Iphone application. For this I have an file on the Iphone whose content I have to upload on php server. For this I have converted the content of the file in NSData and now I want to encrypt this nsdata object and then pass it to the php server and on php server firstly I have to decrypt the nsdata object then I have to upload it on the server. But I am not able to find any way by which I can encrypt some data in Iphone app and then decrypt it in php. And also I want to compress the encrypted data before transferring it to php and then uncompress that data on php. The complete flow of my application is IPhone NSData -- Encrypted NsData -- Compressed Encrypted Data php Compressed Encrypted Data -- uncompressed encrypted data -- decrypted (original) NSData. Can some one help me how can I develop such application? Thanks in advance. Gaurav

  • BN_hex2bn magicaly segfaults in openSSL

    - by xunil154
Greetings, this is my first post on stackoverflow, and i'm sorry if its a bit long. I'm trying to build a handshake protocol for my own project and am having issues with the server converting the clients RSA's public key to a Bignum. It works in my clent code, but the server segfaults when attempting to convert the hex value of the clients public RSA to a bignum. I have already checked that there is no garbidge before or after the RSA data, and have looked online, but i'm stuck. header segment: typedef struct KEYS { RSA *serv; char* serv_pub; int pub_size; RSA *clnt; } KEYS; KEYS keys; Initializing function: // Generates and validates the servers key /* code for generating server RSA left out, it's working */ //Set client exponent keys.clnt = 0; keys.clnt = RSA_new(); BN_dec2bn(&keys.clnt->e, RSA_E_S); // RSA_E_S contains the public exponent Problem code (in Network::server_handshake): // *Recieved an encrypted message from the network and decrypt into 'buffer' (1024 byte long)* cout << "Assigning clients RSA" << endl; // I have verified that 'buffer' contains the proper key if (BN_hex2bn(&keys.clnt->n, buffer) < 0) { Error("ERROR reading server RSA"); } cout << "clients RSA has been assigned" << endl; The program segfaults at BN_hex2bn(&keys.clnt->n, buffer) with the error (valgrind output) Invalid read of size 8 at 0x50DBF9F: BN_hex2bn (in /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8) by 0x40F23E: Network::server_handshake() (Network.cpp:177) by 0x40EF42: Network::startNet() (Network.cpp:126) by 0x403C38: main (server.cpp:51) Address 0x20 is not stack'd, malloc'd or (recently) free'd Process terminating with default action of signal 11 (SIGSEGV) Access not within mapped region at address 0x20 at 0x50DBF9F: BN_hex2bn (in /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8) And I don't know why it is, Im using the exact same code in the client program, and it works just fine. Any input is greatly appriciated!

    I have a secret key that was sent to me as a file so I can encrypt some xml data using Blowfish. How do I access the key so that I can use it with AS3Crypto? I assume I need to Embed it using the [Embed] meta tag. It's mimeType="application/octet-stream" but I'm not sure if thats right. How do I embed, then reference this file as the secret key? The xmls that I'm encrypting cannot be decrypted on the Java side. Each attempt fails with this exception: javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: Given final block not properly padded. As a bonus, if anyone has experience using the lib to work with the Java implementation and knows the ideal mode/padding/IV to use that would be awesome. Thanks! //keyFile is an embedded asset. I was given a file to use as the key var kdata:ByteArray = new keyFile() as ByteArray; //Convert orderXML to Base64 var orderData:ByteArray = Base64.decodeToByteArray(String(orderXML)); //Cipher name var cname:String = "simple-blowfish-ecb"; var pad:IPad = new PKCS5; var mode:ICipher = Crypto.getCipher(cname, kdata, pad); //not sure if this is necessary. seems to be also set in mode pad.setBlockSize(mode.getBlockSize()); mode.encrypt(orderData); var transmitXML:String = Base64.encodeByteArray(orderData); //DEBUG: Output to TextArea storePanel.statusBox.text += "\n--TRANSMIT--\n"+transmitXML;

  • PGP Command Line Decryption --- How to decrypt file?

    - by whitman6732
I was sent a public key in order to decrypt a pgp-encrypted file. I imported the key with: gpg --import publickey.asc And verified it with gpg --list-keys Now, I'm trying to decrypt the file. I put the passphrase in a file called pass.txt and ran this at the command line: gpg --passphrase-fd ../../pass.txt --decrypt encryptedfile.txt.pgp --output encryptedfile.txt All it says is: Reading passphrase from file descriptor 0 ... And doesn't seem to be doing anything else. I can't tell if it's hanging or not. Is it a relatively quick process? The file is large ( about 2 GB ). Is the syntax for it correct?

  • How to overwrite the data in a file with bash

    - by Stefan Liebenberg
I'm writing a bash script that encrypts the data of a folder or file #!/bin/bash file_name=$1 tmp_file=/tmp/tmpfile.tar # tar compress file tar -cf $tmp_file $file_name; # encrypt file gpg -c $tmp_file # remove temp file rm -rf $tmp_file $file_name # mv encrypted file to orignal place mv ${tmp_file}.gpg $file_name but the data will still be recoverable by using photorec or similar methods... Is there a way to ensure the absolute deletion of the original file in bash? Thank You Stefan

  • How to resolve deprecation warnings for OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#encrypt

    - by Olly
I've just upgraded my Mac to Snow Leopard and got my Rails environment up and running. The only difference -- OSX aside -- with my previous install is that I'm now running ruby 1.8.7 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 72) [universal-darwin10.0] (Snow Leopard default) rather than 1.8.6. I'm now seeing deprecation warnings relating to OpenSSL when I run my code: warning: argumtents for OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#encrypt and OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#decrypt were deprecated; use OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher#pkcs5_keyivgen to derive key and IV Example of my code which is causing these warnings (it decodes an encrypted string) on line 4: 1. def decrypt(data) 2. encryptor = OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher.new('DES-EDE3-CBC') 3. key = "my key" 4. encryptor.decrypt(key) 5. text = encryptor.update(data) 6. text << encryptor.final 7. end I'm struggling to understand how I can resolve this, and Google isn't really helping. Should I try and downgrade to Ruby 1.8.6 (and if so, what's the best way of doing this?), should I try and just hide the warnings (bury my head in the sand?!) or is there an easy fix I can apply in the code?

  • decrypt an encrypted value ?

    - by jim
I have an old Paradox database (I can convert it to Access 2007) which contains more then 200,000 records. This database has two columns: the first one is named "Word" and the second one is named "Mean". It is a dictionary database and my client wants to convert this old database to ASP.NET and SQL. However, we don't know what key or method is used to encrypt or encode the "Mean" column which is in the Unicode format. The software itself has been written in Delphi 7 and we don't have the source code. My client only knows the credentials for logging in to database. The problem is decoding the Mean column. What I do have is the compiled windows application and the Paradox database. This software can decode the "Mean" column for each "Word" so the method and/or key is in its own compiled code(.exe) or one of the files in its directory. For example, we know that in the following row the "Zymurgy" exactly means "???? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????, ????? ?????" since the application translates it like that. Here is what the record looks like when I open the database in Access: Word Mean Zymurgy 5OBnGguKPdDAd7L2lnvd9Lnf1mdd2zDBQRxngsCuirK5h91sVmy0kpRcue/+ql9ORmP99Mn/QZ4= Therefore we're trying to discover how the value in the Mean column is converted to "???? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????, ????? ?????". I think the "Mean" column value in above row is encoded in Base64 string format, but decoding the Base64 string does not yet result in the expected text. The extensions for files in the win app directory are dll, CCC, DAT, exe (other than the main app file), SYS, FAM, MB, PX, TV, VAL. Any kind of help is appreciated. Additional information: guys! the creators are not that stupid to save the values only in encoded form. they're definitely encrypted them. so i guess we have to look for the key.
