• Win32 Window Menu is appearing along left side instead of across top of window

  I think I may be using a wrong window style or something or maybe just adding the menu to the window incorrectly. I'll post a link to an image here so you can see what I mean about the menu not diplaying correctly: http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/4828/wtfmenu.jpg And here's a link to the code that creates the menu and the window: http://pastebin.com/CBrSVXUD I'm sure I'm missing something simple and dumb in the labyrinth of styles, settings and etc that are part and parcel for the Win32 API. Has anyone seen this before and know what I'm doing wrong? I just want a 'normal' menu bar along the top, snug against the title bar. Thanks in advance for any advice.

• Setting the Cursor Position in a Win32 Console Application

  How can I set the cursor position in a Win32 Console application? Preferably, I would like to avoid making a handle and using the Windows Console Functions. (I spent all morning running down that dark alley; it creates more problems than it solves.) • How do I open a web browser from C#? Process.Start() isn't working?

  I have a URL and I want to launch it in the default browser. I've tried two methods: Process.Start("http://stackoverflow.com"); ... and the one detailed in this other question using ShellExecute. In both cases I get the error: Windows cannot find 'http://stackoverflow.com'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. It shouldn't be trying to open it as a file though... from what I understand, it should recognize it as a URL and open it in the default browser. What am I missing? By the way: OS = Vista, and .NET = 3.5

  I would like to write a simple program in c++. After the program is done i would like to get my answers in form of a graph or picture that would give some certain information if i click on a certain area. i have only written console apllications in c++ before and don't really have a clue where to start with the graphic part of it all. Can I write the first part of the program in console mode and some how run it under the WIN32 later? for ex what will happen to the cout<<"foo"; commands? Is there a simpler approach to do some very basic graphic programming.

  So I have a situation where I need to make binary patches and then be able to apply them from within python. I found bsdiff which looks like a great algorithm and has a python extension module, but that extension module doesn't have a windows installer past Python 2.5 Alright, so having never even written C seriously, let alone attempted a python extension module, I set out to compile it myself. After a few hours of bashing my head against a DLL load error with MinGW32, I managed to get it compiled and built using the setup.py provided in the source of the project. However, upon importing the resulting bsdiff module, I get: ImportError: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. Any advice?

But I also want to get event, when my data connect actually connects to out side world. After completing an exam at a testing center, you will login to CertView to access and print your exam scores by selecting the See My New Exam Results Now link or the Print My New Exam Results Now link from the homepage. This will provide access to all certification and exam history in one place through Oracle, providing tighter integration with other activities at Oracle. This change in policy will also increase security around data privacy. AUTHENTICATE YOUR CERTVIEW ACCOUNT NOW One very important step you must take is to authenticate your CertView account BEFORE taking your exam. This way, if there are any issues with authorization, you have time to get these sorted out before testing. Keep in mind that it can take up to 3 business days for a CertView account to be manually authenticated, so completing this process before testing is key! • "Error generating Win32 resource" in Visual Studio, Windows 7 x64

  My co-developers and I recently upgraded machines to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Some of us are seeing a new error we used to never see when building solutions in Visual Studio (happens in both 2008 and 2010): Error generating Win32 resource: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. It always points to some temp file in our output folder, for example: MyProject\obj\Debug\CSC5123.tmp This happens about once every four or so builds. We then will try to run the same exact build again, and it will usually succeed. In some cases though, it will fail again on the same project, and in same cases, it will fail on a different project. There's really no rhyme or reason to it. But it's very frustrating, especially when it doesn't happen until the build has been running for 20 or so seconds. This also doesn't happen to all of our coworkers. It happens to about one out of four developers. For the one, it happens about one of four builds, and for the other three, it never happens. Oh, and did I mention we're all using machines built from the same image? :) Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide.

  I just don't get it. monit behaves very strangely... check process thin with pidfile /var/run/thin.4567.pid start program = "/srv/Pusher/server start" stop program = "/srv/Pusher/server stop" if failed host 127.0.0.1 port 4567 protocol http then restart group server this is the process that should be restarted. So I tested monit and stopped the process. But it is showing only this: Process 'thin' status Does not exist monitoring status monitored data collected Wed Mar 24 01:18:55 2010 when I run "monit validate" it starts the service.   We're having an issue on an apache server where every 15 to 20 minutes it stops serving PHP requests entirely. On occasions it will return a 503 error, other times it will recover enough to serve the page but only after a delay of a minute or more. Static content is still served during that time. I rebuilt mod_fcgid from source as the packaged version was quite old. It's using current stable version (2.3.6) of mod_fcgid. • Dismount USB External Drive using powershell

  Hello, I am attempting to dismount an external USB drive using powershell and I cannot successfuly do this. The following script is what I use: #get the Win32Volume object representing the volume I wish to eject $drive = Get-WmiObject Win32_Volume -filter "DriveLetter = 'F:'" #call dismount on that object there by ejecting drive $drive.Dismount($Force , $Permanent) I then check my computer to check if drive is unmounted but it is now. The boolean parameters $force and $permanent have been tried with different permutations to no avail. The exit code returned by the dismount command changes when the params are toggled. (0,0) = exit code 0 (0,1) = exit code 2 (1,0) = exit code 0 (1,1) = exit code 2 The documentation for exit code 2 indicates that there are existing mount points as a reason why it cannot dismount. Although I am trying to dismount the only mount point that exists so I am unsure what this exit code is trying to tell me. Having already trawled the web for people experiencing similar problems I have only found one additional command to try and that is the following: # executed after the .Dismount() command $drive.Put() This additional command does not help. I am running out of things to try, so any assistance anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

  Win32 Virtual listviews (LVS_REPORT view) created with the LVS_OWNERDATA style are supposed not to scroll when LVSICF_NOSCROLL is used in the LVM_SETITEMCOUNT message or ListView_SetItemCountEx macro, according the MSDN documentation. However, this doesn't seem work, and the list-view scrolls regardless of the use of LVSICF_NOSCROLL. In these sorts of cases, 99% of the time it is something I have done incorrectly or overlooked. But, I've now run out of options. Have I missed something?

  I'm new to win32 API programming and I try to understand source code of treeview from codeproject. But I really don't understand this : BOOL TreeView::DoNotify(HWND hWnd, UINT msg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) { // blah blah HTREEVIEW Selected = (HTREEITEM)SendDlgItemMessage(hWnd,ID_TREE,TVM_GETNEXTITEM,TVGN_CARET,(LPARAM)Selected); // halb halb } It doesn't work ( Selected is used without initializing) until I declare Selected as global variable. • Photoshop - Save batch process

  In photoshop, I recently learned how to create actions, and how to do them in batches (for example, execute them on a folder of 1000 files). What I need to know is this: How can I SAVE THE BATCH PROCESS? I need to save all the settings with which I perform the batch process, so I can easily perform the exact same batch process, again. Any help would really be appreciated!
