  • Browsing page siblings through next/previous links

    - by Pieter
    I'm using WordPress as CMS for a site I'm developing. When I'm browsing posts, I can use Next/Previous links to walk between posts. I want to have the same thing on pages. Page A Page B Page C Page A should link to next sibling Page B. Page B should link to previous sibling Page A and next sibling Page C. Page C should link to previous sibling Page B. Is there any plugin you can recommend that generates these links? I know there are some plugins that do this, but I specifically want one that hooks into my current theme automatically. I know how to edit the theme, but that would brick my site whenever a theme update is available. I'm using the LightWord WordPress theme.

  • How to return this XML-RPC response in an array using PHP?

    - by mind.blank
    I'm trying to put together a WordPress plugin and I want to grab a list of all categories (of other WordPress blogs) via XML-RPC. I have the following code and it looks like it works so far: function get_categories($rpcurl,$username,$password){ $rpcurl2 = $rpcurl."/xmlrpc.php"; $params = array(0,$username,$password,true); $request = xmlrpc_encode_request('metaWeblog.getCategories',$params); $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $rpcurl2); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array("Content-Type: text/xml")); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 10); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $request); $results = curl_exec($ch); $res = xmlrpc_decode($results); curl_close($ch); return $res; } If I use $res I get the following string as the response: Array If I use $results then I get: categoryId17 parentId0 descriptionTest categoryDescription categoryNameTest htmlUrlhttp://test.yoursite.com/?cat=17 rssUrlhttp://test.yoursite.com/?feed=rss2&amp;cat=17 categoryId1 parentId0 descriptionUncategorized categoryDescription categoryNameUncategorized htmlUrlhttp://test.yoursite.com/?cat=1 rssUrlhttp://test.yoursite.com/?feed=rss2&amp;cat=1 I need to pull out the names after description so Uncategorized and Test in this case. It's my first time coding in PHP. I got these results by echoing them to the page, so not sure if they get changed in that process or not... By the way I modified the above code from one that posts to a WordPress blog remotely so maybe I haven't set some of the options correctly? With var_dump($res) I get: array(2) { [0]=> array(7) { ["categoryId"]=> string(2) "17" ["parentId"]=> string(1) "0" ["description"]=> string(4) "Test" ["categoryDescription"]=> string(0) "" ["categoryName"]=> string(4) "Test" ["htmlUrl"]=> string(40) "http://test.youreventwebsite.com/?cat=17" ["rssUrl"]=> string(54) "http://test.youreventwebsite.com/?feed=rss2&cat=17" } [1]=> array(7) { ["categoryId"]=> string(1) "1" ["parentId"]=> string(1) "0" ["description"]=> string(13) "Uncategorized" ["categoryDescription"]=> string(0) "" ["categoryName"]=> string(13) "Uncategorized" ["htmlUrl"]=> string(39) "http://test.youreventwebsite.com/?cat=1" ["rssUrl"]=> string(53) "http://test.youreventwebsite.com/?feed=rss2&cat=1" } }

  • Can't access some websites using Ubuntu 13.10

    - by Adame Doe
    Something's wrong with Ubuntu. Since I've upgraded to 13.10, I can't access some websites for no apparent reason. I've tried everything imaginable to solve this problem : Made sure that MTUs are the same, Disabled IPv6 in both the network manager and used browsers, Deactivated my network keys, DMZed my computer, Used other DNS like Google and OpenDNS, Checked that no firewall was running my computer ... And it's the same result. I even tried to reinstall Ubuntu a couple of times, but no luck. The most annoying thing about it is I can't access wordpress.org! So, there's no way it could be an ISP restriction of some kind. When I use a VPN, I can access pretty much anything. I'm really frustrated because I have to use wordpress.org very often. • Wordpress blog with Joomla?

    - by user427902
    Hi, I had this Wordpress installation which was installed in a subfolder (not root). Like http: //server/blog/. Now, I installed Joomla on the root (http: //server/). Everything seems to be working fine with the Joomla part. However, the blog part is messed up. If I try to browse the homepage of my blog which is http: //server/blog/ it works like a charm. But while trying to view individual blog pages like say, http: //server/blog/some_category/some_post I get a Joomla 404 page. So, I was wondering if it was possible to use both Wordpress and Joomla in the same server in the setup I am trying to. Let me clarify that I am NOT looking to integrate user login and other such things. I just want the blog to be functional under a subfolder while I run the Joomla site in the root. So, what is the correct way to go about it. Can this be solved by any .config edits or something else? Edit: Here's the .htaccess for Joomla ... (I can't find any .htaccess for Wp though, still looking for it.) ## # @version $Id: htaccess.txt 14401 2010-01-26 14:10:00Z louis $ # @package Joomla # @copyright Copyright (C) 2005 - 2010 Open Source Matters. • Good source of reviews of CULV machines?

    - by Jason Sundram
    I'm potentially interested in acquiring a CULV machine. I like the idea of a netbook, but need a little more horsepower. So, of course, I need to obsess over a hundred different reviews first. Can you recommend some good sources of CULV reviews? Anandtech recently ran a roundup, but I'd prefer sites that have ongoing CULV coverage. Thanks!

  • How do you google bad reviews? [closed]

    - by zlog
    The first thing I like to do before I make technology choices or gadget purchases is find bad reviews of the things. That way, taking into consideration of the potential biases of the reviewer, I can evaluate the product/service for the worse it can be. How do people google (or search in general) for bad reviews? I usually just try googling "bad review [product/service]" or "[product/service] sucks", but I'm sure there are better ways.

  • How to tell .htaccess to ignore a subdirectory (or, how to run WordPress and ExpressionEngine simult

    - by Mike Crittenden
    I have an ExpressionEngine site at http://example.com and a WordPress blog at http://example.com/blog ...the problem is, any WP pages that don't map directly to an index.php end up being handled by ExpressionEngine, which results in a 404. For example, http://example.com/blog and http://example.com/blog/wp-admin both work fine as they both directly use an index.php in those folders, but http://example.com/blog/category/tag/something gets handled by ExpressionEngine. So how can I modify the ExpressionEngine .htaccess file to tell it to ignore anything in the /blog directory? Here's what's currently in the ExpressionEngine .htaccess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On ##### Remove index.php ###################################### RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] ##### Add WWW ############################################### RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^getregionalcash.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.getregionalcash.com/$1 [R=301,NC] ##### Increase File Limit Size ############################## #set max upload file size php_value upload_max_filesize 20M #set max post size php_value post_max_size 20M #set max time script can take php_value max_execution_time 6000000 #set max time for input to be recieved php_value max_input_time 6000000 #increase php memory limit php_value memory_limit 64M Any ideas?

  • Wordpress autoformatting

    - by incrediman
    Why is Wordpress autoformatting my html? It keeps breaking my html code by adding <br>'s and <p>'s everywhere. I mean ffs, it even adds them around html comments. And forget javascript - it adds <div> tags around every line. How can I make it stop? Note: I only want to disable this for a specific page, and the issue is only occuring when editing html using the html content editor within the admin panel.

  • Co-Authors Wordpress Plugin: coauthors_wp_list_authors function not working correctly

    - by rayne
    The Co-Authors Plus Plugin for Wordpress has a very annoying bug. The custom function coauthors_wp_list_authors lists authors the same way the wordpress function wp_list_authors does, but it does not include authors in the list who don't have a post of their own - if they have only entries in which they are listed as co-author but not as author, they will not be included in the list. That is of course missing a very important point. I've looked at the faulty SQL statement, but unfortunately my knowledge of advanced SQL, especially when it comes to JOINs, as well as my knowledge of the wp database structure is too limited and I remain clueless. There is a topic in the WP support forum, but unfortunately the information there is very outdated and the fix is not applicable anymore. I couldn't find any other, more current solutions on the internet. I'd be glad if somewhere here could help fix the SQL statement so it also lists co-authors who don't have posts where they're the sole author, as well as display the correct post count for all authors. Here's the entire function for reference purposes with a comment marking the SQL statement: function coauthors_wp_list_authors($args = '') { global $wpdb, $coauthors_plus; $defaults = array( 'optioncount' => false, 'exclude_admin' => true, 'show_fullname' => false, 'hide_empty' => true, 'feed' => '', 'feed_image' => '', 'feed_type' => '', 'echo' => true, 'style' => 'list', 'html' => true ); $r = wp_parse_args( $args, $defaults ); extract($r, EXTR_SKIP); $return = ''; $authors = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT ID, user_nicename from $wpdb->users " . ($exclude_admin ? "WHERE user_login <> 'admin' " : '') . "ORDER BY display_name"); $author_count = array(); # this is the SQL statement which doesn't work correctly: $query = "SELECT DISTINCT $wpdb->users.ID AS post_author, $wpdb->terms.name AS user_name, $wpdb->term_taxonomy.count AS count"; $query .= " FROM $wpdb->posts"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->term_relationships ON ($wpdb->posts.ID = $wpdb->term_relationships.object_id)"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->term_taxonomy ON ($wpdb->term_relationships.term_taxonomy_id = $wpdb->term_taxonomy.term_taxonomy_id)"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->terms ON ($wpdb->term_taxonomy.term_id = $wpdb->terms.term_id)"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->users ON ($wpdb->terms.name = $wpdb->users.user_login)"; $query .= " WHERE post_type = 'post' AND " . get_private_posts_cap_sql( 'post' ); $query .= " AND $wpdb->term_taxonomy.taxonomy = '$coauthors_plus->coauthor_taxonomy'"; $query .= " GROUP BY post_author"; foreach ((array) $wpdb->get_results($query) as $row) { $author_count[$row->post_author] = $row->count; } foreach ( (array) $authors as $author ) { $link = ''; $author = get_userdata( $author->ID ); $posts = (isset($author_count[$author->ID])) ? $author_count[$author->ID] : 0; $name = $author->display_name; if ( $show_fullname && ($author->first_name != '' && $author->last_name != '') ) $name = "$author->first_name $author->last_name"; if( !$html ) { if ( $posts == 0 ) { if ( ! $hide_empty ) $return .= $name .   • URL regex search and replace on MySQL (in WordPress)

I found this stackoverflow thread that has a similar task, but since I am not too apt with regex, I was hoping for help so I don't mess anything up. • WordPress - Each page of paged posts all show same posts

    - by j-man86
    I set up a pagination function for my wordpress blog. When clicking to the next page, the URL is correct: "/page/1", "/page/2", "/page/3" etc, but the actual posts don't change from page to page (page 2 and page 3 still display the first page of posts). Here's the code I'm using for the loop: <?php $paged = (get_query_var('paged')) ? get_query_var('paged') : 1; $sticky=get_option('sticky_posts'); $args=array( 'offset' => 1, 'category__not_in' => array(-6), 'paged'=>$paged, 'showposts' => 6, ); query_posts($args); if ( $wp_query->have_posts() ) : while ( $wp_query->have_posts() ) : $wp_query->the_post(); ?> Any help/insight would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Wordpress, PHP, URL Encoding Issue

    - by Scott Porad
    Wordpress provides a function called "the_permalink()" that returns, you guessed it!, the permalink to a given post while in a loop of posts. I am trying to URL encode that permalink and when I execute this code: <?php print(the_permalink()); $permalink = the_permalink(); print($permalink); print(urlencode(the_permalink())); print(urlencode($permalink)); $url = 'http://wpmu.local/graphjam/2008/11/06/test4/'; print($url); print(urlencode($url)); ?> it produces these results in HTML: http://wpmu.local/graphjam/2008/11/06/test4/ http://wpmu.local/graphjam/2008/11/06/test4/ http://wpmu.local/graphjam/2008/11/06/test4/ http://wpmu.local/graphjam/2008/11/06/test4/ http%3A%2F%2Fwpmu.local%2Fgraphjam%2F2008%2F11%2F06%2Ftest4%2F I would expect lines 2, 3 and 5 of the output to be URL encoded, but only line 5 is so. Thoughts?

  • Elmah on MVC website with WordPress/php sub directory

    - by creativeincode
    I have created a website using ASP.NET MVC and use ELMAH for error handling, this works perfectly. After setting up a virtual directory on my website under /blog and adding the necessary WordPress php files and mysql db, I get the below error come up. Could not load file or assembly 'Elmah' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I think this has something to do with the fact that ELMAH is applying itself to all sub-directories. Is there a way that I can tell ELMAH to ignore everything under /blog? Or is there a way to get around this? Thanks in advance.

  • Wordpress "Home" link

    - by Johann
    Hi all, I'm working on a Sandbox based Wordpress theme and I would like to add a home link as a first item in the navigation. I know I should change the function in "sandbox_globalnav" in the functions.php file, which is: // Produces a list of pages in the header without whitespace function sandbox_globalnav() { if ( $menu = str_replace( array( "\r", "\n", "\t" ), '', wp_list_pages('title_li=&sort_column=menu_order&echo=0') ) ) $menu = '<ul>' . $menu . '</ul>'; $menu = '<div id="menu">' . $menu . "</div>\n"; echo apply_filters( 'globalnav_menu', $menu ); // Filter to override default globalnav: globalnav_menu } However, my PHP skills are really basic and I'm not sure where I should override this. Thanks!

  • Wordpress, PodCMS and Search

    - by Vian Esterhuizen
    Hey guys, I have a WordPress site for a client. He owns a video store, and I made a site for him to update the list of movies, usually just the "new this week" movies. The Pod has a field where you insert the release date. 2010-04-20 Then there is a Pod page/template combo that calls the movies with a certain release date like this: $date = pods_url_variable('last'); He then just creates a blank WP page with the slug 2010-04-20 So when you open that page, the Pod page/template reads that slug and renders a list of the appropriate movies. My problem: I need these to be searchable. Is this possible. I'm also open to suggestions on other ways to go about making this site work. I need it to be as simple as that. Uploads some movies and creates a new page. Then the rest is done automatically. Please and thank you guys

  • Adding text before footer in wordpress

    - by jake
    I've been reading the wordpress codex and it seems that if I want to add some text just before the footer shows up I should use code like this in my functions.php add_action('wp_footer', 'your_function'); function your_function() { $content = 'This is inserted at the bottom'; echo $content; } It is my understanding that the $content should show up just before the footer, but it does not show up at all. Is there another way to show up my code just before the footer ? I am with WP 2.8 but this should not matter

  • NAVT WordPress Plugin - Not working on index.php

    - by Michael
    Hi there, I need to move my wordpress home page onto the actual index.php file but for some bizarre reason the NAVT plugin doesn't work on there. It also doesn't work on index.php when I put it in the header.php file. It works on all other pages as normal. ALSO, it does work in the footer.php file when viewing the index.php file so this is what makes it all the more confusing. Any ideas what it could be? I've disabled every other plugin so I'm pretty sure there's nothing conflicting. It's rather basic setup and I'm using NAVT default settings. Thanks, Michael.

  • MySQL - Skip Duplicate WordPress Entries

    - by 55skidoo
    I'm writing a script to display the 10 most recently "active" WordPress blog posts (i.e. those with the most recent comments). Problem is, the list has a lot of duplicates. I'd like to weed out the duplicates. Is there an easy way to do this by changing the MySQL query (like IGNORE, WHERE) or some other means? Here's what I have so far: <?php function cd_recently_active() { global $wpdb, $comments, $comment; $number = 10; //how many recently active posts to display? enter here if ( !$comments = wp_cache_get( 'recent_comments', 'widget' ) ) { $comments = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT comment_date, comment_author, comment_author_url, comment_ID, comment_post_ID, comment_content FROM $wpdb->comments WHERE comment_approved = '1' ORDER BY comment_date_gmt DESC LIMIT $number"); wp_cache_add( 'recent_comments', $comments, 'widget' ); } ?>
