  • Why use a whitelist for HTML sanitizing?

    I've often wondered -- why use a whitelist as opposed to a blacklist when sanitizing HTML input? How many sneaky HTML tricks are there to open XSS vulnerabilities? Obviously script tags and frames are not allowed, and a whitelist would be used on the fields in HTML elements, but why disallow most of everything?

  • Run bat file in Java and wait 2

    This is a followup question to my other question : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2434125/run-bat-file-in-java-and-wait The reason i am posting this as a separate question is that the one i already asked was answered correctly. From some research i did my problem is unique to my case so i decided to create a new question. Please go read that question before continuing with this one as they are closely related. Running the proposed code blocks the program at the waitFor invocation. After some research i found that the waitFor method blocks if your process has output that needs to be proccessed so you should first empty the output stream and the error stream. I did those things but my method still blocks. I then found a suggestion to simply loop while waiting the exitValue method to return the exit value of the process and handle the exception thrown if it is not, pausing for a brief moment as well so as not to consume all the CPU.   • How Do I Prevent Rails From Treating Updated Nested Attributes Differently From New Nested Attribute

    I am using rails3 beta3 and couchdb via couchrest. I am not using active record. I want to add multiple "Sections" to a "Guide" and add and remove sections dynamically via a little javascript. I have looked at all the screencasts by Ryan Bates and they have helped immensely. The only difference is that I want to save all the sections as an array of sections instead of individual sections. Basically like this: "sections" => [{"title" => "Foo1", "content" => "Bar1"}, {"title" => "Foo2", "content" => "Bar2"}] So, basically I need the params hash to look like that when the form is submitted. When I create my form I am doing the following: <%= form_for @guide, :url => { :action => "create" } do |f| %> <%= render :partial => 'section', :collection => @guide.sections %> <%= f.submit "Save" %> <% end %> And my section partial looks like this: <%= fields_for "sections[]", section do |guide_section_form| %> <%= guide_section_form.text_field :section_title %> <%= guide_section_form.text_area :content, :rows => 3 %> <% end %> Ok, so when I create the guide with sections, it is working perfectly as I would like. The params hash is giving me a sections array just like I would want. The problem comes when I want edit guide/sections and save them again because rails is inserting the id of the guide in the id and name of each form field, which is screwing up the params hash on form submission. Do I have to create a custom form builder? Is there some other trick I can do to prevent rails from putting the id of the guide in there? I have tried a bunch of stuff and nothing is working.     Hi I'm currently developing a cross-plataform virtual keyboard. In linux i was able to do whatever i want, but in Windows i'm having problems to prevent the widget to obtain the keyboard focus. In linux, using the window flag Qt::X11BypassWindowManagerHint the widget never gets the keyboard input, but of course, that flag does not work on Windows Is there something equivalent to that flag or some method i can use instead? any ideas would be appreciated thanks in advance

So, for example, if the regex is "three-letter words starting with a, and ending in c," then the code would generate a list with the values [aac, abc, acc, adc, a1c....]. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm using python.

    Is there any better way to get take a string such as "(123) 455-2344" and get "1234552344" from it than doing this: var matches = Regex.Matches(input, @"[0-9]+", RegexOptions.Compiled); return String.Join(string.Empty, matches.Cast<Match>() .Select(x => x.Value).ToArray()); Perhaps a regex pattern that can do it in a single match? I couldn't seem to create one to achieve that though.

I'm just getting started with win32 API programming in C++ and I'm having trouble compiling the winnie tutorial (http://www.relisoft.com/win32/winnie.html) with MinGW. I can detect when the model has failed, but I am not able to use python (on linux) to simulate a key press event.     I'm new to Pascal and FastReport. This question can probably be answered without knowledge of FastReport. Pascal is Delphi. FastReport4. I have a text box accepting an 8 character string as input. Each character should be numeric. I'm attempting to validate each character as numeric. I've tried using the val function... Procedure Val(S : String; var R: Real; Code : Integer); begin end; procedure thisinputOnChange(Sender: TfrxComponent); var S : String; error : Integer; R : Real; begin S := thisinput.lines.text; Val (S, R, error); If error > 0 then Button2.enabled := False; end; I got this code online. The explanation says that the function will return an error with a code greater than zero if the character cannot be converted to an integer. Is that explanation correct? Am I misinterpreting? Right now I am trying to set a button's enabled property to false if the validation fails. I might change that to a message. For now, I would like to get it to work by setting the button property. I'm not sure if I should be using the onChange event or another event. I'm also not sure if I need to send the input to the val function in a loop. Like I said, I'm just learning how to use this function. I am able to validate the length. This code works... procedure thisinputOnChange(Sender: TfrxComponent); begin if length(thisinput.lines.text) = 8 then Button2.enabled := True; end; Any suggestions?     Is there a way that lets me run a shell script, and display the output in an NSTextView? I do not want any input from the user to the shell script at all, since is is just called to compile a buch of files. The shell script part works fine so far, but I just can't figure out how to run it and show the output in an NSTextView. I know a shell script can be run using system() and NSTask, but how do I get it's output into an NSTextView?
