  I'm trying to write a functional test. Still, the actual post is created. I'm a newbie to RSpec. Am I missing something?

  Hi, I am probably totally missing the point here but.... How can I pass a 'var' into another method? (I am using linq to load XML into an Enumerable list of objects). I have differernt object types (with different fields), but the final step of my process is the same regardless of which object is being used. But I then want to iterate though the code to check for various issues: foreach (var w in result2) { if (w.CheckIT()) { //do something } } What I would love is the final step to be in a method in the base class, and I can pass the 'var' varible into it from each child class.

• SQL Server switch to MySQL/PostgreSQL for startup?

  I just checked out the licensing for SQL Server and well...i can't afford it since im funding this project myself. I have been tinkering with MySQL and PostgreSQL a bit the past few weeks and at this point I can't really decide which to go with. MySQL has a large user base and lots of people using it so finding out how to do various items will not be to hard o find. I will be using ASP.NET with this project. Anyone have experience going from SQL Server to either of these databases? Is one stronger than the other? Thoughts?

• Service injection into Controller (Spring MVC)

  Hi I have a Spring web application, I have built it up to the controller stage and I could inject my Daos, into my Services fine. Now when I want to inject my Service into my controller i get an error for dependency with the Dao and further down the sessionFactory. I don't want to inject these again cause this will ultimately lead me to eventually create a data source but I have my Daos for data access and they already know about sessionFactory. • Can someone give me an overview of ASP.net and how it's different from technologies such as php?

  I've been doing the html and css for a site, sending it off to a guy to implement in a web server. I get a call from the designer freaking out about the progress, saying the clients aren't happy. He wants me to personally integrate my css with what's on the site. The site is done in ASP.net, time is short, and I'm a little in over my head. I have an understanding of how php works, but have never worked extensively with it. Looking at the stuff on the ftp, I can't even find equivalent of the index.html file (I know that when I go to the site itself, there is nothing after the base url, i.e., www.site.com/ brings me to the homepage.) Can anyone give me a few tips or links as to what I am to do with this, or where to even being navigating this site?

• stripe payment issue ruby on rails

  So I have made a stripe payment option in my app. When I click the button pay now, it shows me that the payment is successful. and when I go to my stripe account and go to stripe-test and check logs, I can see my test payment with the code 200 OK. But this payment doesn't show in stripe-test events, or in stripe-test payments.   I am able to get the registration confirmation email to send out in deployment on Heroku, but when I try a registration on localhost:3000, I get the following error: undefined local variable or method `confirmed_at' for #<User:0xb67a1ff0> In my config/environments/production.rb file I have: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => 'xxxx.com' } And I have an initializer file with the following format: ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = { :user_name => "[email protected]", :password => "xxxxxx", :domain => "xxxx.com", :address => "smtp.sendgrid.net", :port => "xxx", :authentication => :plain, :enable_starttls_auto => true }; What settings do I need to get the localhost working? • Rewrite content served by apache

  Hi guys, I have an internal app (Jira) that i want to use internally and externally, now there might be another way of doing this in which case i'm open to it, but this is what i have so far: URL one: https://domainname.com/jira - external domain name for it URL two: https://domainname.local/jira - internal network name for it. I am running Apache as a reverse proxy and I have this: <Location /jira> ProxyPass http://127.0.0.1:8080/jira ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:8080/jira </Location> Jira creates all of its links using a base url, which in this case is set to 'https://domainname.local/jira', so obviously when pages get served to the outside world they have .local on them. The question is, is there a way to have the content rewritten as it is served in order to change the .local addresses within the HTML to be the .com ones? Or am i being a retard and there is an easier way to solve this? Cheers for any help.... Andy

  I'm trying to define my own (very simple) exception class in Python 2.6, but no matter how I do it I get some warning. First, the simplest way: class MyException(Exception): pass This works, but prints out a warning at runtime: DeprecationWarning: BaseException.message has been deprecated as of Python 2.6 OK, so that's not the way. I then tried: class MyException(Exception): def __init__(self, message): self.message = message This also works, but PyLint reports a warning: W0231: MyException.__init__: __init__ method from base class 'Exception' is not called. So I tried calling it: class MyException(Exception): def __init__(self, message): super(Exception, self).__init__(message) self.message = message This works, too! But now PyLint reports an error: E1003: MyException.__init__: Bad first argument 'Exception' given to super class How the hell do I do such a simple thing without any warnings?

I want to implement service locator, which will return instance of IDataManager<T> for T But I stucked how to implement it in a neat way without a lot of castings. Any ideas?

  Hi there, my problem occurs during compiling Irrlicht3D Engine in VS 2008. 1Error 1256: integer overflow in internal computation due to size or complexity of "irr::IReferenceCounted" I'm currently merging a very old Softwaredriver I have written with the rest of the engine which is much newer. The main Problme is that I have tried to resolve abstract inherince problems. But now I get this error and it is the only one. "irr::IReferenceCounted" is one of the base classes used by other classes which have been inherinced from. What does that mean? I know that an integer overflow can be a normal overflow, but why is this shown during compilation? Any help appreciated! -db

I don't want to use oAuth, becouse the mobile and embedded applications that are facing the biggest hurdle, as they may not be able to bring up and/or control the web browser. Also its a little complicate. I know, that HTTP basic authorisation is not safe, but it's so simple... I want to use it in my api. • Sphinx autodoc is not automatic enough

  I'm trying to use Sphinx to document a 5,000+ line project in Python. It has about 7 base modules. As far as I know, In order to use autodoc I need to write code like this for each file in my project: .. automodule:: mods.set.tests :members: :show-inheritance: This is way too tedious because I have many files. It would be much easier if I could just specify that I wanted the 'mods' module to be documented. Sphinx could then recursively go through the module and make a page for each submodule. Is there A feature like this? If not I could write a script to make all the .rst files, but that would take up a lot of time.

  1) a) I assume roles are cached ( by setting Roles.CacheRolesInCookie ) only for current user? b) Besides Roles.GetRolesForUser(_currentUser), are there any other methods that will read role information for current user from role cookie and thus won’t have to connect to the data base? 2) a) I assume that normally role cookie gets updated only when current user is added or removed from the role(s) or when the cookie expires? b) Because role names can be cached apart from the data source, it is possible that changes to role management at the data source would not be reflected in the cached values. In this case, the user must close and re-open their browser to clear the cached cookie value. How exactly could role cookie get cached apart from the data source? 3) If the number of roles cached in a role cookie equals the value of Roles.MaxCachedResults, then I assume when Roles.GetRolesForUser (_currentuser) gets called, it will need to check the DB to see whether user is also a member of any additional roles? thanx

  Firstly, I am not at all familiar with windows batch file programing. Recently I am curious about how tomcat sets itself as a windows service using a batch file. I downloaded the service.bat file from tomcat 6. However, I still don't understand some part of it. I guess this is the line that the batch actually register the exe file to the OS, is it right? Is there any syntax explanation?   According to the MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387314%28v=VS.85%29.aspx) the PFXImportCertStore function imports the cert/key into Base CSP (MS_STRONG_PROV) or Enhanced CSP (MS_ENHANCED_PROV). However, to use RSA/SHA2 signatures, I need to import the key into the Enhanced RSA and AES CSP (MS_ENH_RSA_AES_PROV) and I can't find a way to do it. The documentation mentions "provider name" from the PFX packet, but I can't find any way to set it for a pkcs12 file generated by a 3rd party (e.g. OpenSSL). Thank you in advance.

  I'm re-working some prototype code into a policy based design in C++, and I'm wondering what the best practice is for documenting the design. My current plan is to document: Policy hierarchy Overview of each policy Description of each type/value/function in each policy I was thinking of putting this into a doxygen module, but this looks like it will be a bit awkward since formatting will have to be done by hand without code to base the doc on (that is, documenting the policies rather than the implementation of the policies). So my questions are: Are there other aspects of the design that should be documented? Are there any tricks to doing this efficiently in doxygen? Is there a tool other than doxygen thats better suited to this? What are some examples of well documented policy based design? This is my first serious attempt at policy based design. I think I have a working grasp of the principles, but whatever naivety I expose in this question is fair game for an answer too.

• Git Submodule or fork

  I have a private repo in github that is the complete source code to my cms. Now I have a few local customers that I want to use the same code base on but with different themes. Is it better to fork the original project out into a repo for each one. Or use a submodule and create a new repo for each customer? After each site is complete I would imagine the theme files wouldn't change much but would need to pull in changes from the main repo when bugs are discovered.
