• Getting web page after calling DownloadStringAsync()?

  Hello I don't know enough about VB.Net yet to use the richer HttpWebRequest class, so I figured I'd use the simpler WebClient class to download web pages asynchronously (to avoid freezing the UI). However, how can the asynchronous event handler actually return the web page to the calling routine? • win7 amd64 guest in kvm does not have sound

  hi, my host system is gentoo amd64, guest system is win 7 amd64. the guest system can work, except it does not have sound. i start kvm with -soundhw ac97, QEMU_AUDIO_DRV='alsa', and after i get into the guest system, i can see a 'Multimedia Audio Controller' in the device manager. but win7 cannot find the driver for it. i searched the network for a long time, and i cannot find a driver for intel ac97 for win7 amd64. i also tried -soundhw sb16, es1370, none of them work. please help me fix this.

• My ashx stopped working (Works locally, but not online)

  i have a simple ASHX file that returns pictures upon request (mainly a counter), previously the code simply fetched pre-made pictures(already uploaded and available) and sent them to the requester.. i just modified the code,so it would take a base picture, do some modifications on it, save it to the server, then serve it to the user.. tested it locally and it worked like a charm. however when i uploaded the code to my hosting service (Godaddy..) it didnt work. Can someone point the problem out to me? Note: ASHX worked with me before,so i know the web.config and IIS are handling them properly, however i think i am missing something ..   I have a small program that is trying to wrap an NHibernate insert into an Informix database in a TransactionScope object using the Informix .NET Provider. I am getting the error specified below. The code without the TransactionScope object works -- including when the insert is wrapped in an NHibernate session transaction. Any ideas on what the problem is? • Why is ELMAH creating 2 reports for each error?

  I have setup ELMAH to create an XML log as well as send an email every time it encounters and unhandled exception in my ASP.NET MVC web application. However, creates 2 xml files for every error and sends to emails, seemingly identical each time. How do I stop this? My relevant web.config configuration sections are below.   I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that will allow me to view the Web Of Trust (WOT) ratings for all the links on a page before visiting them. While WOT provides their own bookmarklet, it is not very useful since you need to visit the page first before viewing the rating. This will be used on SeaMonkey, so I can't just install the WOT extension, either. WOT has a Javascript API that allows you to activate the ratings on any page it is included in, so I am using that as a base. However, it never seems to work correctly as a bookmarklet. Here's one attempt where I tried to keep the code as close to the API as possible. I only modified the wotinject function so that it would work in a bookmarklet and added a timeout so that the rating widget wouldn't be loaded before jQuery. var wotprotocol = (document.location.protocol == "https:") ? Since I use some Infragistics controls I have a licenses.licx file that turns into a "app_licenses.dll" assembly after publication. The problem is that this app_licenses.dll assembly does not comply with rule CA1016 (MarkAssembliesWithAssemblyVersion), and I should add an AssemblyVersion attribute to 'App_Licenses.dll'. Now, I've moved this same code into a ASP.NET Wizard and it keeps throwing an error at the second step. I am accessing the charts through the managed AxChart wrapper class (derived from AxHost), which was created by VS designer automatically. 4. What should be my next step? If someone could point me to the next step I should do to find the actual cause, I would be very grateful. Experimenting (removing and returning code) does not do much good, because I don't know how to reproduce it, so it would take large amounts of time on each iteration just to convince myself that the bug is still there. I have found that people often suggest something like "switching compiler optimizations", but since the exception is not thrown deterministically, I don't want to simply rearrange some bytes and hope that it never returns. Then I have set the persist security of the cookie to true so I can access it from any where under localhost. The cookie writes fine and I get logged in and all godd for now. BTW the url for this login page is: http //localhost/MyAccount/Login Now then I stop the solution and set the other MVC apps to be the startup. Then I run it. But once it crashes in Firefox I have a look in the Page Info and then security and Cookies and its there and its the same cookie. What am I doing wrong?

  Hey all i am new to ASP.NET and VB.net code behind. However, i am unable to find anything to connect to mySQL in ASP.NET (VB.NET). The code runs, however the newly saved bitmap is an exact copy of the original image with no sign of any changes having occurred (it's supposed to create a red tint). Could anyone advise what's wrong with my code? The image I'm using is simply a 24bpp bitmap I created in Paint (it's just a big white rectangle!), using IronPython 2.6 and on Windows 7 (x64) with .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.
