  I have the domain, we'll call it "mydomain.com" and I want the following virtual hosts set up to resolve in the following way: mydomain.com / www.mydomain.com to point to /var/www/ dev.mydomain.com to point to /var/www/dev/ *.mydomain.com (all other subdomains) to point to /var/www/old My apache configuration is currently set up as: NameVirtualHost 1.2.3.4:80 <VirtualHost 1.2.3.4:80> ServerAlias *.mydomain.com DocumentRoot /var/www/old </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 1.2.3.4:80> ServerName mydomain.com ServerAlias www.mydomain.com DocumentRoot /var/www </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 1.2.3.4:80> ServerAlias dev.mydomain.com DocumentRoot /var/www/dev </VirtualHost> Unfortunately, this is not working as I expected. With this configuration, only the first (wildcard) VirtualHost entry works properly. What is the right way to configure Apache to do this?

Also there seems to be confusion about solutions working or not working during different stages of FluentNHibernate's development. I have the following classes: public class MappedClass { ... } public enum MyEnum { One, Two } public class Foo { ... public virtual IDictionary<MappedClass, MyEnum> Values { get; set; } } My questions are: Will I need a separate (third) table of MyEnum? How can I map the MyEnum type? Should I? What should Foo's mapping look like? I've tried mapping HasMany(x = x.Values).AsMap("MappedClass")... This results in: NHibernate.MappingException : Association references unmapped class: MyEnum

• Nhibernate equivalent of LinqToEntitiesDomainService in RIA

  Hi, When using Entity Framework with RIA domain services, domain services are inherited from LinqToEntitiesDomainService, which, I suppose, allows you to make linq queries on a low level (client-side) which propagate into ORM; meaning that all queries are performed on the database and only relevant results are retrieved to the server and thus the client. Example: var query = context.GetCustomersQuery().Where(x => x.Age > 50); Right now we have a domain service which inherits from DomainService, and retrieves data through NHibernate session as in: virtual public IQueryable<Customer> GetCustomers() { return sessionManager.Session.Linq<Customer>(); } The problem with this approach is that it's impossible to make specific queries without retrieving entire tables to the server (or client) and filtering them there. Is there a way to make linq querying work with NHibernate over RIA like it works with EF? If not, we're willing to switch to EF because of this, because performance impact would be just too severe. • openvpn: after changing to server mode, client does not create TUN device

  i had a previously working configuration with the config files used in a previous question However, i've changed this now to the following configuration using server mode, everything on the logs seem fine, however the client doesn't create any tun interface, so i don't have anything to connect to, presumably, i need to add or push some route commands, but i don't have any idea at this point what i need to do. • Asp.net membership logout automatically

  Hi, I recently deploy an application that uses asp.net membership (SqlMembershipProvider) and I dont know why but it automatically log out after 1 minute of inactivity. This doesn´t happen on my development environment. I even set the userIsOnlineTimeWindow to 60 which is supposed to be in minutes. Any ideas why this is happening? Im deploying to a virtual directory on a shared hosting environment. • Can GhostScript run in Medium Trust

  I am using GhostScript to generate some thumbnails of PDF pages in an ASP.NET application. I have it wrapped in this library called GhostScriptSharp that just uses DllImport to call methods in the GhostScript DLL. It looks like this wont work on a medium trust hosting environment, either because of the fact that it is calling unmanaged code, or that it looks like the library is creating files all over the place (outside my virtual directory). I ran Process Monitor and saw it trying to Read, QueryNameInformationFile, CreateFile and QueryStandardInformationFile in places like: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Halftone\Default or C:\gs\gs8.63\lib\Halftone\Default or C:\gs\font\Halftone\Default Any ideas about whether this is "fixable" to run in medium trust? If I can't use GhostScript, is there another free/open source library that WILL work in Medium trust?

  Hi All, I have been trying to set up local debugging for my ASP.NET app in Delphi and am getting the error above. I have used the aspnet_regiis.exe tool with the following: Aspnet_regiis.exe -s W3SVC/1/ROOT/DevTest but this hasn't helped. It added it to IIS as an application but I am still getting the error: The project cannot be debugged because virtual directory "DevTes" is not configured with ASP.NET version 2.0 or 3.0 Use aspnet_regiis.exe to configure the local IIS web server. I am not really sure where to go from here so need some help please: Machine specs: Windows 7 64bit, IIS7, Using RAD Studio 2007.

• SQL Server 2008 Restore from Backup fails with error 3241 'cannot process this media family'

  I am attempting to backup a database from a SQL Server instance on one machine and restore it to another, and I am encountering the frequently discovered 'SQL Server cannot process this media family' error. Each of my instances are SQL Server 2008, but with different patch levels Restore: 10.0.2531.0 Backup: 10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 ) The restore DB is express. Not sure about the backup version. The backup version is on a virtual private server. The restore is on my development box. When I restore to a different database on the source (backup) server, it restores fine. Lots of stuff on google about this issue, some on stackoverflow about this issue, but nothing which is this exact situation. Any thoughts? It should be straightforward to do a backup and restore from one machine to another (having done this thousands of times in with SQL 6.5,7,2000,2005).

• Why load increase ,ssd iops increase but cpu iowait decrease?

  There is a strange thing on my server which has a mysql running on it. The QPS is more than 4000 but TPS is less than 20. The server load is more than 80 and cpu usr is more than 86% but iowait is less than 8%. The disk iops is more than 16000 and util of disk is more than 99%. When the QPS decreases, the load decreases, the cpu iowait increases. • open webim ( Mibew Messenger ) time out, reconnecting

  hi, i hope you guys know about webim a.k.a mibew messenger. I know only java, jsp and no idea about php except for some basics. Anyways, i ran this app in my apache2.2 local server. Everything works superb! But if i change my db to a virtual machine and give its address in the config.php (previously i had used localhost), in the visitors page, i get timeout, reconnecting. Login has no prob, so my guess is db connection is fine. I even changed the default page refresh time from 2 to 10. Nothing happens. Still same thing. You guys have any idea?

  How do I close photoshop using its javascript scripting language. (I am automaticly scripting a great deal of things, and I notice that for one reason or another, some of the ram is not releasing with each new task. My hopes are that after X ammount of operations, I will fully close photoshop, to free up the ram.. which it is eating up all of my 8 gigs, and after which then opens photoshop help and causes a huge failure (actually, to be honest it fills up my hard drive with junk till I get a "hard drive is full" message... (I think it is dumping the ram into virtual ram on my hard drive?)... what a mess)THANKS!!

As far as I can tell, this is the case; I get this error in Event Log when I attempt it: TransmitFile failed. File Name: \\myshare1\e$\file.zip, Impersonation Enabled: 0, Token Valid: 1, HRESULT: 0x8007052e The suggested alternative is to use WriteFile(), however, this is problematic because it loads the file into memory. In my application, the files are 200MB, so this is not going to scale. Is there a method in ASP.NET for streaming files to users that's: scalable (doesn't read entire file into RAM or occupy ASP.NET threads) works with UNC shares Mapping a network drive as a virtual directory is not an option for us. I would like to avoid copying the file to the local web server as well. Thanks

In .NET 2/3.5, this worked fine. Since .NET 4.0 however, running a client of the service in the Visual Studio debugger results in the exception "Inheritance security rules violated by type: '(my subtype of ValidationAttribute)'. Derived types must either match the security accessibility of the base type or be less accessible." How can I keep MyValidationAttribute inheriting from ValidationAttribute in an AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers assembly without marking it SecurityCritical, still using the new .NET 4 level 2 security model and still have it work using the VS.NET debug host (or other hosts) ?? An open OleDb connection is passed into the method. I need to change a field width. The ALTER TABLE statement is working fine. But I would like to avoid executing the ALTER TABLE statement if the field is already the appropriate size. Is there a way to determine the size of an MS Access field using the same OleDb connection?

  I had an application that hooked onto 1 single database. The app now needs to hook into multiple databases. What we want to do is, using the same application/domain/hostname/virtual dir give the user the option on the login screen to select the "App/Database" they want to connect into. Each database has the App tables/data/procs/etc as well as the aspnet membership/roles stuff. When the user enters the username/password and selects (select list) the application, I want to validate the user against the selected applications database. Presently the database connection string for membership services is saved in the web.config. Is there any way I can override this at login time? Also, I need the "remember me" function to work smoothly as well. How does this work when the user comes back to the app in 5 hours... This process should be able to identify the user and application and log in appropriately.

  Hi, I have a requirement to work on a VS2003 web project. I have VS2008,vs2010,vs2003 installed in my system Other System details are Windows Xp professional version 2 service pack 3. IIS 5.1 When i am trying to create a VS 2003 web project giving the localhost as path i am getting the following error. "visual studio noted that specified web server is not running under asp .net 1.1 version.You will be unable to run asp .net web applications or services". I have used aspnet_regiis commands as well as a tool(ASPNETVersionSwitcher.exe ) to swith versions and in iis also default web site asp.net version chosen as asp .net 1.14322. Still i am getting the error. same error i get ,if i point a virtual directory in the existing 1.1 .net web application and trying to open it. • Strategy pattern and "action" classes explosion

  Is it bad policy to have lots of "work" classes(such as Strategy classes), that only do one thing? Let's assume I want to make a Monster class. Instead of just defining everything I want about the monster in one class, I will try to identify what are its main features, so I can define them in interfaces. That will allow to: Seal the class if I want. Later, other users can just create a new class and still have polymorphism by means of the interfaces I've defined. I don't have to worry how people (or myself) might want to change/add features to the base class in the future. All classes inherit from Object and they implement inheritance through interfaces, not from mother classes. Reuse the strategies I'm using with this monster for other members of my game world. Con: This model is rigid. Sometimes we would like to define something that is not easily achieved by just trying to put together this "building blocks". public class AlienMonster : IWalk, IRun, ISwim, IGrowl { IWalkStrategy _walkStrategy; IRunStrategy _runStrategy; ISwimStrategy _swimStrategy; IGrowlStrategy _growlStrategy; public Monster() { _walkStrategy = new FourFootWalkStrategy(); ...etc } public void Walk() { _walkStrategy.Walk(); } ...etc } My idea would be next to make a series of different Strategies that could be used by different monsters. On the other side, some of them could also be used for totally different purposes (i.e., I could have a tank that also "swims"). The only problem I see with this approach is that it could lead to a explosion of pure "method" classes, i.e., Strategy classes that have as only purpose make this or that other action. In the other hand, this kind of "modularity" would allow for high reuse of stratagies, sometimes even in totally different contexts. What is your opinion on this matter? Is this a valid reasoning? Is this over-engineering? Also, assuming we'd make the proper adjustments to the example I gave above, would it be better to define IWalk as: interface IWalk { void Walk(); } or interface IWalk { IWalkStrategy WalkStrategy { get; set; } //or something that ressembles this } being that doing this I wouldn't need to define the methods on Monster itself, I'd just have public getters for IWalkStrategy (this seems to go against the idea that you should encapsulate everything as much as you can!)   Hello, I am on a MediaTemple Dedicated Virtual server and have enabled Pear using the instructions found at: http://kb.mediatemple.net/questions/514/Enabling+PEAR+by+setting+your+open_basedir+and+include_path Here's the problem... In my PHP script, I have this: require_once 'Crypt/HMAC.php'; When I execute the script, I get this message: S3::require_once(Crypt/HMAC.php) [s3.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory It's a script for integrating with Amazon S3. When we were on the Grid service it worked fine. I've only had problems since moving to a DV server. I installed the HMAC pear module using this command: pear install Crypt_HMAC Then re-started the server. Still no luck. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch if you can help :)

  My application is been live from 6 months. The application is host on jboss 7.1 server. From last few days I am finding numerous problem of hanging of jboss server. Though I restart the jboss server again, it does not invoke. I need to restart the server machine itself. • Keyboard Simulation not working with Keyboard hook for modifier keys

  I have a piece of software that is being used to simulate a certain device on a touchscreen, this device already runs an application that receives keyboard input from the device. My software (reffered to as simulator) displays a virtual keyboard and runs the application. Thus, the simulator sends keys with input simulator: http://inputsimulator.codeplex.com/ And the applciation listens to keys with the following keyboard hook: https://svn.cyberduck.io/tags/release-4-1/source/ch/cyberduck/core/GlobalKeyboardHook.cs My problem is, what some keys from the device's hardware actually do is to sent a key combination (ex: left-alt + 1) to the application and a weird scenario is occurring: The application listens to normal keyboard inputs The simulator sends keys to other applications (ie: visual studio responds to the keys sent when debugging) The simulator can send single keys to the application (I can type) The simulator CANNOT send key combinations to the application (alt+1 is received as just 1 in the application) This started happenning when we imported the application's dll into the same process from the simulator. Could there be any reason why I can't simulate key combinations for a hook in the same process? Is there any easy fix for this?

  Im getting this exception in the protected virtual void SendPropertyChanged(String propertyName) { if ((this.PropertyChanged != null)) { this.PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); <---- HERE !!! } } of one recently table association i created, there lots of same associations around the database, and this happened in the 4 specific tables i added. Its 1...* relationship and association is Primary Table - Id (identity auto generated) Foreign PId column int not null. I just dont get it....Im using SqlMetal for generation, i regenerated the schema, rebuild, same. This is causing while inserting row in DevExpress XtraGrid, but i dont think this should be issue, same control with same functionality but for different tables works ok. I use grid's event for append value in a property when the entity creating. I disabled this but same again. Recreated the association. No change, exception occurs. Any ideas?

• Rails validation "failing when succeeding"

  I have this in my user.rb: attr_accessor :old_password def validate unless password.nil? errors.add_to_base("Old password entered incorrect") unless self.valid_password? old_password end end I have old_password as a a virtual attribute that has to be validated as matching with the current before updating to a new password. My problem is that upon correct entering ( password == password confirmation and self.valid_password? old_password ) an error will yield and pass me back to the form. The strange part is that the data will actually be updated in the database, and it will not on wrong input; although it will yield the very same error ("Old password entered incorrect"). What on earth am I doing wrong?
