  • How to handle data concurrency in ASP.NET?

    Hi! all I have an application, that is accessing by number of users at the same time. Those users, who are accessing the application getting the same id. Here what i am doing in the code is, when they are creating new user i am getting a max id from DB and increasing the value to 1. So that they are getting same ID. so that i am facing concurrency in this situation. How to solve this problem. I need to display different numbers when the users click on NewUser. I am using SQL server 2008 and .NET 3.5 and C#.NET Thanks in advance.

  • Send data to LPT on windows XP

    I want to send data to a printer on LPT1 and i trying exactly this but my CreateFile returns -1 (The system cannot find the file specified.Exception from HRESULT:0x80070002). How to open LPT1 port and send data to? I am trying this on XP and after that in win7 64 bit because from what i've read working with LPT in win7 64 bit is a bit of a problem, or should i say 64 bit of a problem:) PS:Since it's my first post this year: Happy New year to everybody.

  • Is portobuf-net generated binary compatible with Google specs

    Actually I want to serialize my data using Google's java implementation and then deserialize using C# implementation? I have chosen portobuf-net as it seems to be more stable (porto# is still v0.9 or I would have gone for it). Before I start working on it I wanted to be sure that I can achieve this (serializing data using java implementation and deserializing it using potobuf-net). Or is there any list of methods that are specific to portobuf-net implementation?

    Hello, I have an ASP.NET application that uses themes. Let's pretend I have a theme named "MySkin". I have a page that is in a sub-directory of my application. When I reference a page that uses "MySkin", I noticed that ASP.NET renders a link element that walks up to the root of the site and then down into the App_Themes directory. Here is an example link element I found in a rendered ASP.NET page: <link href="../../App_Themes/MySkin/theme.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> Is there a reason that the rendered link element does not use the following instead: <link href="/App_Themes/MySkin/theme.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> Is this a browser compatibility issue or is there another reason? The reason I am asking is because I am rendering my ASP.NET page using Server.Execute and storing the result in a different directory. Because of this, I would prefer to use the second way to reference my theme's css. Thank you!

  • Do not re-create session id .net cookieless sessions

    Due to target audience I am using .net cookieless sessions in auto-detect mode and time to time I get visitors redirected with cookiless session url like domain.com/(S(jdhdghdghd))/default.aspx Problem is, if I call this url after session expired .net will re-create it. What I want to find out is a way to force .net to create another session id instead of using the one that came with url. Is it possible?

    I am new to Solr and we are using Spring-data for Solr I have a question may be its too simple but I am unable to comprehend. Basically I need to search on any field but I have a "zip" field as one of the facet fields. I have a Solr repository . (Am not sure if the annotations on the Repository are correct.) public interface MyRepository extends SolrCrudRepository<MyPOJO, String> { @Query(value = "*:*") @Facet(fields={"zip"}) public FacetPage<MyPOJO> findByQueryandAnno(String searchTerm,Pageable page); } In my Service class I am trying to call this methods by Injecting MyRepository like below public class MyService { @Inject MyRepository solrRepo; @Inject SolrTemplate solrTemplate; public FacetPage<MyPOJO> tryFacets(String searchString){ //Here is where I am struggling SimpleFacetQuery query = new SimpleQuery(new SimpleStringCriteria(searchString)); query.setFacetOptions(new FacetOptions("zip")); //Not sure how to get the Pageable object. //But the repository doesnt accept without it. return solrTemplate.queryForPage(query,{Pageable Instance to be passed here}) } From my jUnit I am loading context files needed for Solr and Spring //In jUnit the test method looks like this service.tryFacets("some value"); and it fails with - method not found in the service class at the call to the repository method. *********EDIT**************** As per ChristophStrobl's advice created a copyfield called multivaluedCopyField and the searchString argument works good. But the facet still isnt working...Now my code looks like this.     Hi I know how to add SL page as a whole to existing ASP.net application. We have existing ASP.net page with few tabs. Each tab is a user control. We want to add another tab, which will host Silverlight content. Is it possible to add silverlight content in one of the tabs of a page? Any example links? Another way of putting up the same question : Is it possible to have an ASP.net page with top half as regular asp.net content and other half containing silverlight content? Please advise. Thanks AJ

  • MVC (model-view-controller) - can it be explained in simple terms?

    I need to explain to a not-very-technical manager the MVC (model-view-controller) concept and ran into trouble. The problem is that the explanation needs to be on a "your grandma will get it" level - e.g. even the fairly straightforward explanation offered on MVC Wiki page didn't work, at least with my commentary. Does anyone have a reference to a good MVC explanation in simple terms? It would ideally be done with non-techie metaphor examples (e.g. similar to "Decorator pattern is like glasses") - one reason I failed was that all MVC examples I could come up with were development related. I once saw a list of pattern explanations but to the best of my memory MVC was not on it. Thanks!

    Hi. Why is it better to store data inside an appSettings element (or inside a custom section) of a web.config file than to store it in a class? One argument would be that by using custom sections we don’t have to recompile code when we change data, but that’s a weak argument, especially if we’re using Web Sites, which get recompiled automatically whenever code changes! One page inherits from a library CKFinder.Connector.Connector. In the old days my aspx would just inherit="CKFinder.Connector.Connector", but how is this done in MVC.NET? Is Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<CKFinder.Connector.Connector>" the same?

    I have a fairly involved LispWorks Common Lisp module that sits atop some .NET modules via RDNZL. It has come up that I need to expose some of its functionality to some other .NET applications, and I'm not sure the best (shortest) way to approach this without re-writing the module in C#. I know there are a few CLR Lisp implementations but most seem unmaintained or incomplete and there are many things that cannot be trivially re-written in Scheme. Is there any facility that exposes the opposite of what RDNZL enables (.NET - Common Lisp)? Can I use RDNZL to deliver a DLL that accepts .NET objects?

Windows Server 2003 has been built to test the application. The database has been scripted across using MS SQL Server GUI. ASP.Net application services tables were created using an utility. The connection strings are stored in the web.config and connectionStrings.config. The application connects to the database successfully, but then it times out after 10 seconds.

  • Target .NET 3.5 C++/CLI in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

    Has anyone had any success converting a VS 2008 C++/CLI (vcproj) project to a VS 2010 project (vcxproj), whilst maintaining .NET 3.5 as the target framework? I haven't been able to do this and get the project to build successfully. The project compiles fine in VS2008 as .NET 3.5, and fine in VS2010 as .NET 4.0, but I am unable to target .NET 3.5 in 2010. The IDE doesn't seem to provide an option for it, and modifying the vcxproj file by adding <TargetFrameworkVersion>v3.5</TargetFrameworkVersion> causes compilation to fail with the folling error: Error 1 error C1001: An internal error has occurred in the compiler. According to this link, there is apparently some differences in compilers used between VS2008 and 2010, but manually editing the project file was still suggested as a solution. Does anyone have any idea on this?
