This question is about construction of instances of custom allocator during insertion into a std::map. Why is this necessary? Is there a way to suppress this? Thanks! Edit: This code tested on x86 machine with g++ version 4.1.2. If you wish to run it on a 64-bit machine, you'll have to change at least the line return malloc(24). Changing to return malloc(48) should work.
