• Knowing the selections made on a 'multichooser' box in a mechanical turk hit (using Command Line Too

  Hi All, I am new to Amazon Mechanical Turk, and wanted to create a hit with a qualification task. I am using the command line tools interface. One of the questions in my qualification task involves users selecting a number of options. I use a 'multichooser' selection type. Now I want to grade the responses based on the selections, where each selection has a different score. So for example, s1 has a score of 5, s2 of 10, s3 of 6, and so on. If the user selects s1 and s3, he/she gets a score of 11. Unfortunately, doing something like the following does not work: <AnswerOption> <SelectionIdentifier>s1</SelectionIdentifier> <AnswerScore>5</AnswerScore> </AnswerOption> <AnswerOption> <SelectionIdentifier>s2</SelectionIdentifier> <AnswerScore>10</AnswerScore> </AnswerOption> <AnswerOption> <SelectionIdentifier>s3</SelectionIdentifier> <AnswerScore>6</AnswerScore> </AnswerOption> If I do this, when I select multiple things, I get a score of 0. If I select only one option, say s1, then I get the appropriate score. Can you please help me on how to go about this? I could ask the same question 5 times with the same options, but then users might choose the same answer multiple times - something I wish to avoid. Thanks! Gaurav

• Excel VBA: Passing a collection from a class to a module issue

  Hello, I have been trying to return a collection from a property within a class to a routine in a normal module. The issue I am experiencing is that the collection is getting populated correctly within the property in the class (FetchAll) but when I pass the collection back to the module (Test) all the entries are populated with the last item in the list. • Capture *all* display-characters in JavaScript?

  I was given an unusual request recently that I'm having the most difficult time addressing that involves capturing all display-characters when typed into a text box. The set up is as follows: I have a text box that has a maxlength of 10 characters. When the user attempts to type more than 10 characters, I need to notify the user that they're typing beyond the character count limit. The simplest solution would be to specify a maxlength of 11, test the length on every keyup, and truncate back down to 10 characters but this solution seems a bit kludgy. What I'd prefer to do is capture the character before keyup and, depending on whether or not it is a display-character, present the notification to the user and prevent the default action. A white-list would be challenging since we handle a lot of international data. I've played around with every combination of keydown, keypress, and keyup, reading event.keyCode, event.charCode, and event.which, but I can't find a single combination that works across all browsers. • manage.py runserver throws an ImportError with my appname, MacPorts issue on OSX?

  I've been developing a Django app for weeks locally on OSX 10.6.3. Recently, I rebooted my machine and went to start my development environment up. Initially, I had a rough time getting Django up and running and I no longer remember if I'm using the Django from a MacPorts install or from easy_install. How do I tell? (I'd prefer not to reinstall everything). Also, why is the camel casing in my app name gone in the ImportError message? When I search for "myapp" in my django project, I don't find it without camelcase anywhere. And what causes MacPorts to work for a while but then break? • Calculation Conundrum - how do I influence another textfield?

  Hey! Basically I have a problem in that when certain parameters are used in my calculator app - it makes the result incorrect. The issue is that I have separate text fields for hours and minutes and say for example I have as the start time "13" in one text field and "30" in the other with the finish time "24" and "00" in their respective text fields. The answer should be 10 hours 30 minutes, but the answer I get is 11 hours 30 minutes.   I am trying to use twitter bootstrap to get the manufacturers from my DB. Because twitter bootstrap typeahead does not support ajax calls I am using this fork: https://gist.github.com/1866577 In that page there is this comment that mentions how to do exactly what I want to do. The problem is when I run my code I keep on getting: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined I googled around and came tried changing my jquery file to both using the minified and non minified as well as the one hosted on google code and I kept getting the same error. • faster way to draw an image

  im trying to combine two images into a single image. unfortunately this has to be done very quickly in response to a user sliding a UISlider. i can combine the two images into a single image no problem. but the way I'm doing it is horribly slow. the sliders stick and jump rather frustratingly. i don't think i can throw the code into a background thread because i would run out of threads to quickly. i haven't actually tired that yet. below is my code. any ideas on how to speed it up would be helpful. • Mimic.js handle fault response

  i use mimic.js regarding a project that i m developing.. the issue that i face, is if there is a fault response from the webservice, mimic, doesn't handle it, and the browser remains "awaiting" for a response, that has actually been back, but hasn't been handled by mimic.. to be more specific, one typical fault response is the following.. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <methodResponse> <fault> <value> <struct> <member> <name>faultCode</name><value><int>104</int></value> </member> <member> <name>faultString</name><value><string>Invalid Input Parameters</string></value> </member> </struct></value></fault></methodResponse> and chrome console get me the error mimic.js:11 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'childNodes' of null any suggestions on how to handle "fault" responses? mimic.js hasn't been altered at all.. also tried to bypass the fact that mimic can't handle the fault, by trying to use the isFault flag, in the if statement, with no success either.. isFault is supposed to get a boolean value, i guess true/false?

• Manipulating jQuery to retrieve the onclick function of an item which lies directly below the curren

  First off, I want to thank you for looking into my question as I really do appreciate your time. I've built a list of items using php by having a foreach loop cycle through an associative array printing the array data as parameters of an onclick function call and gives each item it cycles through an ID of $thecount. All items retrieved have the same parent div and calls the very same onclick function, only with 11 different parameters. My question is how do I go about calling the onClick("function();") of an item directly below the current focus, making it the new focus, only without a physical click? If this is confusing to you whatsoever, I'm essentially building a dynamic playlist, and I've already implemented the listener for when the player's current item has finished playing, Now I'm having trouble grasping how I'd go about having the next item in the list become the new focus while also calling it's specific onClick() function once the player returns that it has finished with the current file. All without any user interaction besides the initial play call. If it helps I'm using the most recent release of Longtails' JW Player and once again thank you very much for your time!

• iPhone: understanding field crash reports: unrecognized selector?

  Hi all, A user of my app out in the field seems to having bad crash-at-app-start issues. I got him to send me the .crash files from his PC. After "symbolicating" them according to this article, I get what looks from the stack like a unrecognized selector fail. But the top line of code corresponding to my process is an unambiguous message send that gets executed hundreds of times without issue in my app normally. • al32utf8 in oracle and SQL Server and DB2 pulling data

  I have a non-utf8 oracle database running on 11.1.0.7. We need to support greek characters. So we have two options: use nvarchar, nclob fields for those fields that need greek (it is not all fields). We have tested this and gotten it to work with java coding. convert Oracle to AL32UTF8 database. I am not asking how to do this. I got this from the Oracle Site/Oracle Support. I know what is involved, lossy data, etc, increasing the size of the database. My question is we have users to our system that connect to our database with database links but work on SQL Server and IBM DB2 databases. I do not have access to those databases and I do not have experience with them. If they are not in UTF-8 databases what happens when they pull UTF8 data? I would assume that English/Ascii characters are fine and the greek will end up as junk data. I also ran Oracle Character set scanner (oracle command line utility you use to get info about the affects of a character set conversion). It says that my database will crease in sizez by about 20%. Does this have an affect on users with 3rd party databases? These are customers of our data and there is a limit to how much access I can have to them to run tests. Any information you have would be welcome.

• Flex: embedded fonts not being applied correctly in Label and DataGrid

  Folks, I am observing a problem with how an embedded font is applied to certain Flex components, namely mx:Label and mx:DataGrid. I have a CSS that declares three variations on an embedded font as follows: @font-face { src:url("buttons.swf"); font-family: "Arial"; } @font-face { src:url("buttons.swf"); font-family: "Arial"; font-weight: bold; } @font-face { src:url("buttons.swf"); font-family: "Arial"; font-style: italic; } And in the style declaration for Label and DataGrid, I have: Label { fontFamily: "Arial"; fontSize: 11; fontFamily: LucidaSans; } and DataGrid { fontFamily: "Arial"; height: 16; } (I've snipped some stuff from both style rules, so if you think there's something that may be causing a conflict I can certainly post the entire definition. It's mostly color, line and padding stuff for the DataGrid.) The problem that is for both Label and cells in the DataGrid the text is being rendered as sort of a times new roman font. The headers in the DataGrid are fine, just the text in the cells is wonky. All other components use the correct font as defined in the CSS/SWF. Any ideas why this is happening?

• Encoding h.264 with libavcodec/x264

  I am attempting to encode video using libavcodec/libavformat. I'm trying to change the standard output-example.c from ffmpeg source. The AVI file is created on the disk, but the only sound is encoded. I tried adding a lot of options for x264 from here. All the other codecs works fine, mpeg2, mpeg4, mjpeg, xvid. In addition to specifying the parameters x264, I also set the codec to AVOutputFormat structure. That's all I've done.
