• What enterprise architecture tools support DoDAF 2.0?

  What tools best support the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Version 2.0, including support for transfer of the architecture data in accordance with the DoDAF Meta Model (DM2) Physical Exchange Specification (PES)? My initial research found that MagicDraw and Casewise claim support for version 2.0; and several other tools have support for earlier (or unspecified) DoDAF/MoDAF versions including Sparx Enterprise Architect, Troux, IDS Scheer ARIS, Artisan Studio and Rational System Architect. Experiences with any enterprise architecture tools and DoDAF 2.0 would be appreciated. The immediate need is for Data and Information Viewpoint models (DIV-1, DIV-2/OV-7, DIV-3/SV-11), but models in the other Viewpoints will be developed. Thanks -

• Raudus vs ExtPascal: Delphi web developement alternatives that use ExtJS

  Delphi developers has several tools (several alternatives to ASP.NET) for building web applications. While No.1 framework is Intraweb, there is a lot of interest around ExtJS, that has 2 incarnations: 1) the opensource ExtPascal 2) the closedsource Raudus Now the products are different, Raudus never supports the latest ExtJS version (while ExtPascal does because as far as I read it "almost automatically updates itself to the latest ExJS version"), Raudus "seems" much RAD (much similar to Intraweb from the RAD point of view). Anyway why chose one or the other? Why Raudus (since it is free) cannot become Open Source? Or does Raudus use ExtPascal behind the scenes?

• VSDBCMD returns "An unexpected failure occurred: Object reference not set to an instance of an objec

  I have been succesfully using the command line database deployment tool VSDBCMD on my dev and test environments but the tool fails in our integration environmrnt. I am using the VS 2010 version of the tool. The servers have all of the prerequisites including: .net 4.0 sql server compact edition 3.5 sp1 (as well as the full edition of 2008) sql server 2008 server management objects sql server 2008 native client sql server system clr types msxml 6 all of the dependent DLLs included in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\desktop*.dll C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5*.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VSTSDB\Deploy**. The only reference to this error that I have been able to find has to do with a bug in the VS 2008 edition when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0 key is missing. In my case the 10.0 version of the key exists. Has anyone else encountered this?

• FSharp.Compiler.CodeDom for VS2008 and VS2010 side-by-side

  I'm using FSharp.Compiler.CodeDom to dynamically create F# classes. The problem is, that I have both VS2008 and VS2010 on my computer side-by-side (they works fine), and using F# in this configuration is buggy at best: If I don't install InstallFSharp.msi, then under VS2008 the built classes complain about not finding FSharp.Core (even if they're referenced) If I install InstallFSharp.msi, then under VS2008 the built classes will use the F# built for VS2010, and will throw a binary-incompatibility exception, because it will load the .net4 variant: FSC: error FS0219: The referenced or default base CLI library 'mscorlib' is binary- incompatible with the referenced F# core library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft F#\v4.0\FSharp.Core.dll'. Consider recompiling the library or making an explicit reference to a version of this library that matches the CLI version you are using. If I replace the F# found at the previous location to the separately installed dll-s, then of course VS2010 will complain about binary-incompatibility Am I overlooking something, or they won't simply work for a shared environment like this? This might mean real problems when I deploy the applications. Thanks

We used to have the following stuff : class Blah { float[][] data; public float[] GetDataReference(int index) { return data[index]; } } For various reasons, I have replaced this jagged array version with a 1 dimensionnal array version, concatenating inner arrays. My question is : how can I still return a reference to a sub array of data ? class Blah { float[] data; int rows; public float[] GetDataReference(int index) { // Return a reference data from offset i to offset j; } } I was thinking that unsafe and pointers stuff may be of use, is it doable ?

• Svcutil.exe for .Net 4.0?

  I was trying to use svcutil.exe to generate proxy classes for a service but when I use the /reference option to reference an assembly that is built for .Net 4.0 I get an error. Could not load file or assembly [...] or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. So it seems that I am using an old version of svcutil.exe. I am using the one in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A which was the latest one I could find. Is there a later version somewhere that I am supposed to use?

• Do I need afxres.h, if I am not using MFC? How do I remove it from the .RC script?

  I don't know RC scripts. I want to include Product version, File version, etc. metadata into a DLL I'm building. I'm using an .rc file to do that. The build is makefile driven. I'm following along with an example .rc scrpit I found. The template .rc file includes afxres.h , but I don't think I need that. But if I just remove it I get a bunch of compile errors. What does a basic, non-MFC RC script look like? • QLogic QLE8152 won't link up with a fiber loop

  I have a Dell R710 running Debian Linux 6.0 (Squeeze). I installed a QLogic QLE8152 CNA in the PCI-E riser today and I have been trying to get the CNA's ethernet layer to come up after I put a fiber loop on it; I also scoped it with a light meter, and the SFP+ transceiver is getting the correct amount of light. The whole time I have been working on this problem, the lights on the CNA are blinking green at a rate of about 1 flash every 3 seconds. When I plug the fiber into a Juniper EX4500 10GE in a rack next to it, the Juniper's link stays down as well. I have to confess that this is my first wrangling with a CNA, so perhaps I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, but here is what I have found so far... First the basics... • jquery nested sortable

  I have been using NestedSortabe from b-hind and found it quite useful until I upgraded to latest jquery and jquery-ui I guess they changed the way mouse events are handled or something to that effect. Point it the nestedSortable doesn't work any longer. So my question is tri fold does anyone know if the folks at jquery have implemented a nested sortable I haven't seen anything. or does anyone know how to fix the b-hind version or know of something better / light weight to accomplish the same goals would like something compatible with lastest jquery-ui EDIT: it appears as though the lastest version of jquery-ui-sortable supports nested sorting !!!

• iPad/iPhone duplicate view and resize?

  I'm working on an app that is similar to a Presentation application (Keynote/Powerpoint) for the iPad, that will use the VGA adapter to present on screen. However, if the presenter is using the external display for the presentation, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a miniature version of what's on the external display show up on the main iPad display (along with the presentation controls, which will take up most of the screen). In other words, I'm looking for a way with the iPhone SDK to "bake" the contents of a View (which will contain various Images and Labels in various locations) to an image (or some other static storage), resize it, and re-display it in another view. It would need to be smaller (since I don't want the 1024x768 external display to completely overlay the iPad's main display, only a corner of it), and either live-updating (literally an instance of the other View, just scaled), or be able to be refreshed, such that when updating the external display, the "picture in picture" version of itself would be updated too.

  Hi all, SKIP TO UPDATE 3 I want to enable the Seam debug page on Weblogic 10.3.2 (11g). So, I have done the following: I have the jboss-seam and jboss-seam-debug jars as dependency in both my ejb and web maven projects (both are modules of my superproject) I put this context parameter in my web.xml: <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.debug</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </context-param> Now, when I hit the URL of my application, I get the debug page with this exception (full stacktrace at the end of the post): Caused by java.lang.IllegalStateException with message: "No phase id bound to current thread (make sure you do not have two SeamPhaseListener instances installed)" From posts I read it seems that this is somehow related to two jars of jboss-seam or jboss-seam-debug being in the classpath. I opened my ear file and only one of each is present (in the ear) whereas the war itself has no libraries in the WEB-INF/lib. I have also read of another way to initialize debug page using the components.xml.   In the lastest version of MVVM-light (V3 SP1) both "Dispose()" and "Dipose(bool)" methods in ViewModel class are marked Do not use this method anymore, it will be removed in a future version. Use ICleanup.Cleanup() instead Does this mean that IDisposable interface must not be implemented in all ViewModel classes that are derived from GalaSoft.MvvmLight.ViewModelBase (and cleanup must be overrided)? If yes, using can't be used for view-model instances... Probably I didn't understand something... Please clarify... What are the benefits of such cleaning up? Thanks.

• Cocoon lite / XML and XSLT publishing framework

  What publishing frameworks (publishing only, NOT full-blown CMS) based on XML, XSLT sitemaps and pipelines exist, are stable, active, and simpler / lighter than Cocoon? I have glanced at: mod_xslt (http://www.mod-xslt2.com/) which seemed to be exactly that, but looks all but dead, and required a complex setup, and apparently supported only libxslt as an XSLT processor (I'd like to be able to use Saxon and XSLT 2.0 of course). Apache Forrest (http://forrest.apache.org/), but I don't understand if it is really simpler than Cocoon or is rather an additionnal thing on top of Cocoon? What I'm looking for is something that does just this: recieves an HTTP GET "runs it" through a sitemap finds a pipeline: source.xml - xslt1.xsl - xslt2.xsl - xsltn.xsl - serialize runs the pipeline serves the serialized result to the client and: uses Saxon (or is "processor independant") can be installed "lightly", that is: should not require much more configuration than the sitemap Maybe I'm describing an early version of Cocoon, or a future version of an XProc implementation... Anyway, does such a tool exist?

  Late last week I upgraded CC.NET locally and on the build server. The build server is still fine, but locally I am now getting the following error: Exception Details: Exortech.NetReflector.NetReflectorTypeLoadException: Unable to load types from assembly System.ServiceModel, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089: Failed to load 1 of the 3612 types defined in the assembly. Exceptions: - Unable to load type: System.Security.Authentication.ExtendedProtection.ChannelBinding Exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'System.Security.Authentication.ExtendedProtection.ChannelBinding' from assembly 'System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. I'm afraid this started after a batch of Windows updates this morning. I had another two updates that won't run, 979909 and 982168 (I had an update that wouldn't run last month). Anyone else having any issues? Thanks!

• Using WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application doesn't show me any information

  I am trying to use WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application (I have the latest WPFPerf that should work on WPF 4.0 aps). I start the tool Visual Profiler from WPFPerf, I start my aplication, but after that nothing happens and the element tree from the Visual Profiler is empty. No other error message is shown. Can anyone tell me what am I not doint right? As an additional information, when I try to analize my .exe assembly or any other assembly from my application, I get a BadFormatException saying that the assembly was build with a newer version of .NET. From the download page http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=191420 I see that this version of WPFPerf should be ok for my app

  Version 0.6.0 of gem2rpm includes all (development and runtime) dependencies for a given Gem. Example: Rack Gem (http://rubygems.org/gems/rack) Version 1.1.0 has no runtime dependencies, but six development dependencies. Console output of gem2rpm --dependencies rack-1.0.1.gem is: rubygem(test-spec) = 0 rubygem(camping) = 0 rubygem(fcgi) = 0 rubygem(memcache-client) = 0 rubygem(mongrel) = 0 rubygem(ruby-openid) = 2.0.0 rubygem(thin) = 0` How can I specify to only include runtime dependencies? I have also opened a ticket on rubyforge.org, but there isn't a lot of activity on that tracker. Thank you for any hints.
