  • Unnecessary Redundancy with Tables.

    - by Stacey
    My items are listed as follows; This is just a summary of course. But I'm using a method shown for the "Detail" table to represent a type of 'inheritence', so to speak - since "Item" and "Downloadable" are going to be identical except that each will have a few additional fields relevant only to them. My question is in this design pattern. This sort of thing appears many, many times in our projects - is there a more intelligent way to handle it? I basically need to normalize the tables as much as possible. I'm extremely new to databases and so this is all very confusing to me. There are 5 items. Awards, Items, Purchases, Tokens, and Downloads. They are all very, very similar, except each has a few pieces of data relevant only to itself. I've tried to use a declaration field (like an enumerator 'Type' field) in conjunction with nullable columns, but I was told that is a bad approach. What I have done is take everything similar and place it in a single table, and then each type has its own table that references a column in the 'base' table. The problem occurs with relationships, or junctions. Linking all of these back to a customer. Each type takes around 2 additional tables to properly junction all of the data together- and as such, my database is growing very, very large. Is there a smarter practice for this kind of behavior? Item ID | GUID Name | varchar(64) Product ID | GUID Name | varchar(64) Store | GUID [ FK ] Details | GUID [FK] Downloadable ID | GUID Name | varchar(64) Url | nvarchar(2048) Details | GUID [FK] Details ID | GUID Price | decimal Description | text Peripherals [ JUNCTION ] ID | GUID Detail | GUID [FK] Store ID | GUID Addresses | GUID Addresses ID | GUID Name | nvarchar(64) State | int [FK] ZipCode | int Address | nvarchar(64) State ID | int Name | varchar(32)

  • Template access of symbol in unnamed namespace

    - by Fred Larson
    We are upgrading our XL C/C++ compiler from V8.0 to V10.1 and found some code that is now giving us an error, even though it compiled under V8.0. Here's a minimal example: test.h: #include <iostream> #include <string> template <class T> void f() { std::cout << TEST << std::endl; } test.cpp: #include <string> #include "test.h" namespace { std::string TEST = "test"; } int main() { f<int>(); return 0; } Under V10.1, we get the following error: "test.h", line 7.16: 1540-0274 (S) The name lookup for "TEST" did not find a declaration. "test.cpp", line 6.15: 1540-1303 (I) "std::string TEST" is not visible. "test.h", line 5.6: 1540-0700 (I) The previous message was produced while processing "f<int>()". "test.cpp", line 11.3: 1540-0700 (I) The previous message was produced while processing "main()". We found a similar difference between g++ 3.3.2 and 4.3.2. I also found in g++, if I move the #include "test.h" to be after the unnamed namespace declaration, the compile error goes away. So here's my question: what does the Standard say about this? When a template is instantiated, is that instance considered to be declared at the point where the template itself was declared, or is the standard not that clear on this point? I did some looking though the n2461.pdf draft, but didn't really come up with anything definitive.

  • java regex for alpha and spaces is including [ ] \

    - by JayAvon
    This is my regex for my JTextField to not be longer than x characters and to not include anything other than letters or spaces. For some reason it is allowing [ ] and \ characters. This is driving me crazy. Is my regex wrong?? package com.jayavon.game.helper; import java.awt.Toolkit; import javax.swing.text.AttributeSet; import javax.swing.text.BadLocationException; import javax.swing.text.PlainDocument; public class CharacterNameCreationDocument extends PlainDocument { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private int limit; public CharacterNameCreationDocument(int limit) { super(); this.limit = limit; } public void insertString(int offset, String str, AttributeSet attr) throws BadLocationException { if (str == null || (getLength() + str.length()) > limit || !str.matches("[a-zA-z\\s]*")){ Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep(); return; } else { super.insertString(offset, str, attr); } } }

  • Linq2Sql - attempting to update but the Set statement in sql is empty

    - by MrTortoise
    This is weird ... done updates loads of times before but cannot spot why this is different. I have a client class from the dbml I added a method called update public void UpdateSingle() { L2SDataContext dc = new L2SDataContext(); Client c = dc.Clients.Single<Client>(p => p.ID == this.ID); c.CopyToMe(this); c.updatedOn = DateTime.Now; dc.SubmitChanges(); dc.Dispose(); } The CopytoMe method public void CopyToMe(Client theObject) { if (ID != theObject.ID) { ID = theObject.ID; } /// this is redundant as generated code checks field for a change. deleted = theObject.deleted; deletedBy = theObject.deletedBy; deletedOn = theObject.deletedOn; insertedBy = theObject.insertedBy; insertedOn = theObject.insertedOn; name = theObject.name; updatedBy = theObject.updatedBy; updatedOn = theObject.updatedOn; } Im taking a client that was selected, changing its name and then calling this update method. The generated sql is as follows exec sp_executesql N'UPDATE [dbo].[tblClient] SET WHERE ([ID] = @p0) AND ([name] = @p1) AND ([insertedOn] = @p2) AND ([insertedBy] = @p3) AND ([updatedOn] = @p4) AND ([updatedBy] = @p5) AND ([deletedOn] IS NULL) AND ([deletedBy] IS NULL) AND (NOT ([deleted] = 1))',N'@p0 int,@p1 varchar(8000),@p2 datetime,@p3 int,@p4 datetime,@p5 int',@p0=103,@p1='UnitTestClient',@p2=''2010-05-17 11:33:22:520'',@p3=3,@p4=''2010-05-17 11:33:22:520'',@p5=3 I have no idea why this is not working ... used this kind of select object, set field to new value submit the selected object pattern many times and not had this problem. there is also nothing obviously wrong with the dbml - although this is probably a false statement any ideas?

  • Need a set based solution to group rows

    - by KM
    I need to group a set of rows based on the Category column, and also limit the combined rows based on the SUM(Number) column to be less than or equal to the @Limit value. For each distinct Category column I need to identify "buckets" that are <=@limit. If the SUM(Number) of all the rows for a Category column are <=@Limit then there will be only 1 bucket for that Category value (like 'CCCC' in the sample data). However if the SUM(Number)@limit, then there will be multiple bucket rows for that Category value (like 'AAAA' in the sample data), and each bucket must be <=@Limit. There can be as many buckets as necessary. Also, look at Category value 'DDDD', its one row is greater than @Limit all by itself, and gets split into two rows in the result set. Given this simplified data: DECLARE @Detail table (DetailID int primary key, Category char(4), Number int) SET NOCOUNT ON INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 1, 'AAAA',100) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 2, 'AAAA', 50) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 3, 'AAAA',300) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 4, 'AAAA',200) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 5, 'BBBB',500) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 6, 'CCCC',200) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 7, 'CCCC',100) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 8, 'CCCC', 50) INSERT @Detail VALUES ( 9, 'DDDD',800) INSERT @Detail VALUES (10, 'EEEE',100) SET NOCOUNT OFF DECLARE @Limit int SET @Limit=500 I need one of these result set: DetailID Bucket | DetailID Category Bucket -------- ------ | -------- -------- ------ 1 1 | 1 'AAAA' 1 2 1 | 2 'AAAA' 1 3 1 | 3 'AAAA' 1 4 2 | 4 'AAAA' 2 5 3 OR 5 'BBBB' 1 6 4 | 6 'CCCC' 1 7 4 | 7 'CCCC' 1 8 4 | 8 'CCCC' 1 9 5 | 9 'DDDD' 1 9 6 | 9 'DDDD' 2 10 7 | 10 'EEEE' 1

  • Connector/C++ compile error

    - by rizzo0917
    When I compile code that includes Connector/C++ headers, I get the following errors: c:\qt\2010.03\mingw\bin../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.4.0/../../../../include/stdint.h:27: error: 'int8_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef signed char int8_t' c:\qt\2010.03\mingw\bin../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.4.0/../../../../include/stdint.h:31: error: 'int32_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef int int32_t' c:\qt\2010.03\mingw\bin../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.4.0/../../../../include/stdint.h:32: error: 'uint32_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef unsigned int uint32_t' Literally all I do is this: #include <cppconn/driver.h> #include <cppconn/exception.h> #include <cppconn/resultset.h> #include <cppconn/statement.h> #include <cppconn/prepared_statement.h> Now I can go into the file and comment the lines out that give me errors: //typedef signed char int8_t; //typedef int int32_t; //typedef unsigned uint32_t; It compiles, but when I try to run the mysql code: sql::Driver *driver; driver = get_driver_instance(); I get this output test.exe exited with code -1073741515 Any Ideas?

  • List View Array from Database

    - by leenolasco
    I have retrieved data and successfully shown it in text view. What do i modify in my codes to make it look like a list view? And also how do modify my listview programatically(adding size and padding)? Here is my a part of my DBclass in selecting the items that I've displayed getFAData() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub String [] columns = new String[]{Row_Name}; Cursor c = ourDB.query(db_Table, columns, null, null, null, null, null); String res = ""; int iRow = c.getColumnIndex(Row_Name); //int iDesc = c.getColumnIndex(Row_Desc); //int iID = c.getColumnIndex(Row_id); for (c.moveToFirst(); !c.isAfterLast(); c.moveToNext()) { res = res + c.getString(iRow) + "\n"; } return res; } And here is class file: public class FirstAid extends Activity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.firstaid); displayresult(); } public void displayresult (){ TextView tvFa = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tvFA); tvFa.setMovementMethod(new ScrollingMovementMethod()); DbHelper tblFa = new DbHelper(this); tblFa.open(); String result = tblFa.getFAData(); tblFa.close(); tvFa.setText(result); } }

  • C# Passing objects and list of objects by reference

    - by David Liddle
    I have a delegate that modifies an object. I pass an object to the delegate from a calling method, however the calling method does not pickup these changes. The same code works if I pass a List as the object. I thought all objects were passed by reference so any modifications would be reflected in the calling method? I can modify my code to pass a ref object to the delegate but am wondering why this is necessary? public class Binder { protected delegate int MyBinder<T>(object reader, T myObject); public void BindIt<T>(object reader, T myObject) { //m_binders is a hashtable of binder objects MyBinder<T> binder = m_binders["test"] as MyBinder<T>; int i = binder(reader, myObject); } } public class MyObjectBinder { public MyObjectBinder() { m_delegates["test"] = new MyBinder<MyObject>(BindMyObject); } private int BindMyObject(object reader, MyObject obj) { //make changes to obj in here } } ///calling method in some other class public void CallingMethod() { MyObject obj = new MyObject(); MyBinder binder = new MyBinder(); binder.BindIt(myReader, obj); //don't worry about myReader //obj should show reflected changes }

  • java packets byte

    - by user303289
    Guys, I am implementing a protocol in one of the wireless project. I am stucked at one point. In of the java file i am suppose to receive a packet and that packet is 12 byte packet and I have to write different functions for reading different parts of packets and convert it to diferent type. Like I want first four byte in one of the function and convert it to int, next two bytes in string. and again next two in string, last two hop in string and followed by last two int. I want follwing function to implement: // here is the interface /* FloodingData should use methods defined in this class. */ class FloodingPacket{ public static void main(String arg[]){ byte FloodingPack[]; // just for example to test in code FloodingPack=new byte[12]; interface IFloodingPacket { // Returns the unique sequence number for the packet int getSequenceNumber() ; // Returns the source address for the packet String getSourceAddress(); // Returns the destination address for the packet String getDestinationAddress(); // Returns the last hop address for the packet String getLastHopAddress(); // Sets the last hop address to the address of the node // which the packet was received from void updateLastHopAddress(); // Returns the entire packet in bytes (for sending) byte[] getBytes(); // Sets the bytes of the packet (for receiving) void setBytes(byte[] packet); }

  • Retrieving Relationships from within two arrays of pointers

    - by DanF
    In a portion of a program I'm working on, I need to count all the times each person has worked on projects with each other person. Let's say we have "Employee" entities and "Session" entities. In each session, there are four project types, "A", "B", "C", & "D", each a many-to-many relationship to Employees. I'm making a loop to systematically review every person a selected person has worked with. First, I put all their project types in a single array, so it's easier to loop through, but by the time I ask the last nested Project for its Employee members, I get an "unrecognized selector" error. IBOutlet NSArrayController * list; int x; for(x = 0; x < [list count]; x++){ NSArray *A = [[list objectAtIndex:x] valueForKey:@"projectAs"]; NSArray *A = [[list objectAtIndex:x] valueForKey:@"projectBs"]; NSArray *A = [[list objectAtIndex:x] valueForKey:@"projectCs"]; NSArray *A = [[list objectAtIndex:x] valueForKey:@"projectDs"]; NSArray *masterList = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects: projectAs, projectBs, projectCs, projectDs, nil]; int y; for(y = 0; y < [masterList count]; y++){ int z; for(z = 0; z < [[masterlist objectAtIndex:y] count]; z++){ //And now to make an Array of this employee's partners on the selected object, to run comparisons on. //I also have an array of keys for each session's teams, so that's what I'm referencing here: NSArray * thisTeam = [list objectAtIndex:y] objectAtIndex:z] valueForKey:projectKey]; This throws an exception... namely, -[_NSFaultingMutableSet objectAtIndex:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance What's wrong with that last Array creation?

  • android service using SystemClock.elapsedRealTime() instead of SystemClock.uptimeMillis() works in emulator but not in samsung captivate ?

    - by Aleadam
    First question here in stackoverflow :) I'm running a little android 2.2 app to log cpu frequency usage. It is set up as a service that will write the data every 10 seconds using a new thread. The code for that part is very basic (see below). It works fine, except that it would not keep track of time while the phone is asleep (which, I know, is the expected behavior). Thus, I changed the code to use SystemClock.elapsedRealTime() instead. Problem is, in emulator both commands are equivalent, but in the phone the app will start the thread but it will never execute the mHandler.postAtTime command. Any advice regarding why this is happening or how to overcome the issue is greatly appreciated. PS: stopLog() is not being called. That's not the problem. mUpdateTimeTask = new Runnable() { public void run() { long millis = SystemClock.uptimeMillis() - mStartTime; int seconds = (int) (millis / 1000); int minutes = seconds / 60; seconds = seconds % 60; String freq = readCPU (); if (freq == null) Toast.makeText(CPU_log_Service.this, "CPU frequency is unreadable.\nPlease make sure the file has read rights.", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); String str = new String ((minutes*60 + seconds) + ", " + freq + "\n"); if (!writeLog (str)) stopLog(); mHandler.postAtTime(this, mStartTime + (((minutes * 60) + seconds + 10) * 1000)); }}; mStartTime = SystemClock.uptimeMillis(); mHandler.removeCallbacks(mUpdateTimeTask); mHandler.postDelayed(mUpdateTimeTask, 100);

  • How to use CriticalSection - MFC?

    - by mapples
    I' am working on a small example and am a bit of curious using criticalsection in my example. What I'am doing is,I have a CStringArray(which has 10 elements added to it).I want to copy these 10 elements(string) to another CStringArray(am doing this to understand threading and Critical section),I have created 2 threads,Thread1 will copy the first 5 element to another CStringArray and Thread2 will copy the rest.Here two CStringArray are being used,I know only 1 thread can access it at a time.I wanted to know how this can be solved by using criticalsection or any other method. void CThreadingEx4Dlg::OnBnClickedOk() { // TODO: Add your control notification handler code here thread1 = AfxBeginThread((AFX_THREADPROC)MyThreadFunction1,this); thread2 = AfxBeginThread((AFX_THREADPROC)MyThreadFunction2,this); } UINT MyThreadFunction1(LPARAM lparam) { CThreadingEx4Dlg* pthis = (CThreadingEx4Dlg*)lparam; pthis->MyFunction(0,5); return 0; } UINT MyThreadFunction2(LPARAM lparam) { CThreadingEx4Dlg* pthis = (CThreadingEx4Dlg*)lparam; pthis->MyFunction(6,10); return 0; } void CThreadingEx4Dlg::MyFunction(int minCount,int maxCount) { for(int i=minCount;i<=maxCount;i++) { CString temp; temp = myArray.GetAt(i); myShiftArray.Add(temp); } }

  • Moq basic questions

    - by devoured elysium
    I made the following test for my class: var mock = new Mock<IRandomNumberGenerator>(); mock.Setup(framework => framework.Generate(0, 50)) .Returns(7.0); var rnac = new RandomNumberAverageCounter(mock.Object, 1, 100); rnac.Run(); double result = rnac.GetAverage(); Assert.AreEqual(result, 7.0, 0.1); The problem here was that I changed my mind about what range of values Generate(int min, int max) would use. So in Mock.Setup() I defined the range as from 0 to 50 while later I actually called the Generate() method with a range from 1 to 100. I ran the test and it failed. I know that that is what it's supposed to happen but I was left wondering if isn't there a way to launch an exception or throw in a message when trying to run the method with wrong params. Also, if I want to run this Generate() method 10 times with different values (let's say, from 1 to 10), will I have to make 10 mock setups or something, or is there a special method for it? The best I could think of is this (which isn't bad, I'm just asking if there is other better way): for (int i = 1; i < 10; ++i) { mock.Setup(framework => framework.Generate(1, 100)) .Returns((double)i); }

  • Hard Drive POV clock

    - by SkinnyMAN
    I am building a hard drive POV clock. (google it, they are pretty cool) I am working on the code for it, right now all i want to do is get the hang of making it do simple patterns with the RGB leds. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to do something simple like make a red line rotate around the platter. right now what i have is an interrupt that triggers a function. int gLED = 8; // pins for RGB led strip int rLED = 9; int bLED = 10; attachInterrupt(0, ledPattern, FALLING); void ledPattern(){ digitalWrite(gLED, HIGH); // This will make a stable image of slice of the delayMicroseconds(500); // platter, but it does not move. digitalWrite(gLED, LOW); } That is the main part of the code (obviously I cut some stuff out that arduino requires) What I am trying to figure out is how can make that slice rotate around the platter. Eventually I will make the pattern more interesting by adding in other colors. Any Ideas?

  • (iphone) How to access CGRect member variable inside c++ class?

    - by Eugene
    i have a c++ class with CGrect variable and i'm getting segfault when trying to access it. class Parent { //with some virtual functions/dtors }; class Child { public: void SetRect(CGRect rect) { mRect = rect; } CGRect GetRect() { return mRect; } int GetIndex() { return mIndex; } private: CGRect mRect; int mIndex; }; i'm doing CGRect rect = childPtr->GetRect(); from object c code and it segfaults. I printed *childPtr just before the call and rect looks fine with intended data value. int index = childPtr->GetIndex(); from same object c code(*.mm), works fine though. Any idea why I'm getting segfaults? Thank you edit - It's got something to do with virtual functions. (gdb) p singlePuzzlePiece-GetRect() Program received signal EXC_BAD_ACCESS, Could not access memory. Reason: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at address: 0x00000001 0x00000001 in ?? • Problems Expanding an Array in C++

    - by dxq
    I'm writing a simulation for class, and part of it involves the reproduction of organisms. My organisms are kept in an array, and I need to increase the size of the array when they reproduce. Because I have multiple classes for multiple organisms, I used a template: template <class orgType> void expandarray(orgType* oldarray, int& numitems, int reproductioncount) { orgType *newarray = new orgType[numitems+reproductioncount]; for (int i=0; i<numitems; i++) { newarray[i] = oldarray[i]; } numitems += reproductioncount; delete[] oldarray; oldarray = newarray; newarray = NULL; } However, this template seems to be somehow corrupting my data. I can run the program fine without reproduction (commenting out the calls to expandarray), but calling this function causes my program to crash. The program does not crash DURING the expandarray function, but crashes on access violation later on. I've written functions to expand an array hundreds of times, and I have no idea what I screwed up this time. Is there something blatantly wrong in my function? Does it look right to you? EDIT: Thanks for everyone's help. I can't believe I missed something so obvious. In response to using std::vector: we haven't discussed it in class yet, and as silly as it seems, I need to write code using the methods we've been taught.

  • moving image to bounce or rotate in a circle

    - by BlueMonster
    I found this small application that i've been playing around with for the past little while. I was wondering, if i wanted to simply rotate the image in a circle? or make the entire image just bounce up and down, how would i modify this program to do so? Everything i've tried will just stretch the image - even if i do get it to move to the left or to the right. Any ideas on what i can do? Code is below public partial class Form1 : Form { private int width = 15; private int height = 15; Image pic = Image.FromFile("402.png"); private Button abort = new Button(); Thread t; public Form1() { abort.Text = "Abort"; abort.Location = new Point(190, 230); abort.Click += new EventHandler(Abort_Click); Controls.Add(abort); SetStyle(ControlStyles.DoubleBuffer| ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint| ControlStyles.UserPaint, true); t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(Run)); t.Start(); } protected void Abort_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { t.Abort(); } protected override void OnPaint( PaintEventArgs e ) { Graphics g = e.Graphics; g.DrawImage(pic, 10, 10, width, height); base.OnPaint(e); } public void Run() { while (true) { for(int i = 0; i < 200; i++) { width += 5; Invalidate(); Thread.Sleep(30); } } } }

  • Timer not beginning from 00:00

    - by studentProgrammer
    I have a Game in which there is a timer involved. For each two minutes that passes a new round between different players begins. So, I have a text box starting from 00:00 and changes each second until it is equal to 02:00. Now, I want to save the state of the game in the middle of a round if the user closes the form. What I need to do is that upon loading, the textbox starts at the time that the user left the game the last time and continue up till 02:00 normally. How can I do this? This is what I have until now where Tournament is the Form public Tournament() { _timer = new System.Windows.Forms.Timer(); _timer.Interval = 1000; _timer.Tick += Timer_Tick; _myDateTime = DateTime.Now; newDate = new DateTime(); newDate = newDate.AddMinutes(2.00); _timer.Start(); InitializeComponent(); } void Timer_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { var diff = DateTime.Now.Subtract(_myDateTime); this.textBox1.Text = diff.ToString(@"mm\:ss"); DateTime dt = Convert.ToDateTime(diff.ToString()); if (newDate.Minute == dt.Minute) { _timer.Stop(); _myDateTime = DateTime.Now; displayPointsOrResults(); this.textBox1.Text = diff.ToString(@"mm\:ss"); } } In my LoadGame method: where timePassed is what I have written in the text box string[] splitted6 = timePassed.Split(':'); if (splitted6[0] == "00") { int remainingTime = 120 - Convert.ToInt32(splitted6[1]); DateTime time = DateTime.Now.Date; time = time.AddMinutes(remainingTime); _myDateTime = time; } else { int leftTime = Convert.ToInt32(splitted[0].Trim('0') + splitted[1]); int remainingTime = 120 - leftTime; DateTime time = DateTime.Now.Date; time = time.AddMinutes(remainingTime); _myDateTime = time; }

  • Fastest container or algorithm for unique reusable ids in C++

    - by gman
    I have a need for unique reusable ids. The user can choose his own ids or he can ask for a free one. The API is basically class IdManager { public: int AllocateId(); // Allocates an id void FreeId(int id); // Frees an id so it can be used again bool MarkAsUsed(int id); // Let's the user register an id. // returns false if the id was already used. }; Assume ids happen to start at 1 and progress, 2, 3, etc. This is not a requirement, just to help illustrate. IdManager mgr; mgr.MarkAsUsed(3); printf ("%d\n", mgr.AllocateId()); printf ("%d\n", mgr.AllocateId()); printf ("%d\n", mgr.AllocateId()); Would print 1 2 4 Because id 3 has already been declared used. What's the best container / algorithm to both remember which ids are used AND find a free id? If you want to know the a specific use case, OpenGL's glGenTextures, glBindTexture and glDeleteTextures are equivalent to AllocateId, MarkAsUsed and FreeId

  • Strangest LINQ to SQL case I have ever seen

    - by kubaw
    OK, so this is the strangest issue in .net programming I have ever seen. It seems that object fields are serialized in .net web services in order of field initialization. It all started with Flex not accepting SOAP response from .net web service. I have found out that it was due to the order of serialized fields was statisfying the order of fields in declared serializable class. It had something to do with generic lists and LINQ to SQL but I can't find out what. This one is really hard to reproduce. Example to get the idea: [Serializable] public class SomeSample { public int A; public int B; public int C; } I was querying some data tables within asmx web service using linq and returning list of SomeSample objects: var r = (from ...... select new SomeSample { A = 1, C = 3 }).ToList(); Now the list was once more iterated and B field was applied some value (ex. 2). However the returned soap envelope contained following excerpt: <A>1</A><C>3</C><B>2</B> Please notice the order of serialization. If I initially initialized all fields: var r = (from ...... select new SomeSample { A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 }).ToList(); object was serialized in correct order. I must add, that in both cases the debugger shows exactly the same content of "r" variable. Am I losing my mind or is this normal behavior? Thanks in advance.

  • Calling a constructor from method within the same class

    - by Nathan
    I'm new to java and I'm learning about creating object classes. One of my homework assignment requires that I call the constructor at least once within a method of the same object class. I'm getting an error that says The method DoubleMatrix(double[][]) is undefined for the type DoubleMatrix Here's my constructor: public DoubleMatrix(double[][] tempArray) { // Declaration int flag = 0; int cnt; // Statement // check to see if doubArray isn't null and has more than 0 rows if(tempArray == null || tempArray.length < 0) { flag++; } // check to see if each row has the same length if(flag == 0) { for(cnt = 0; cnt <= tempArray.length - 1 || flag != 1; cnt++) { if(tempArray[cnt + 1].length != tempArray[0].length) { flag++; } } } else if(flag == 1) { makeDoubMatrix(1, 1);// call makeDoubMatrix method } }// end constructor 2 Here's the method where I try and call the constructor: public double[][] addMatrix(double[][] tempDoub) { // Declaration double[][] newMatrix; int rCnt, cCnt; //Statement // checking to see if both are of same dimension if(doubMatrix.length == tempDoub.length && doubMatrix[0].length == tempDoub[0].length) { newMatrix = new double[doubMatrix.length][doubMatrix[0].length]; // for loop to add matrix to a new one for(rCnt = 0; rCnt <= doubMatrix.length; rCnt++) { for(cCnt = 0; cCnt <= doubMatrix.length; cCnt++) { newMatrix[rCnt][cCnt] = doubMatrix[rCnt][cCnt] + tempDoub[rCnt][cCnt]; } } } else { newMatrix = new double[0][0]; DoubleMatrix(newMatrix) } return newMatrix; }// end addMatrix method Can someone point me to the right direction and explain why I'm getting an error?

  • C# keyhook question

    - by user203123
    I copied the following code from http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/CSLLKeyboardHook.aspx, public int hookProc(int code, int wParam, ref keyboardHookStruct lParam) { if (code >= 0) { Keys key = (Keys)lParam.vkCode; if (HookedKeys.Contains(key)) { KeyEventArgs kea = new KeyEventArgs(key); if((wParam == WM_KEYDOWN || wParam == WM_SYSKEYDOWN) && (KeyDown != null)) {KeyDown(this, kea) ;} else if ((wParam == WM_KEYUP || wParam == WM_SYSKEYUP) && (KeyUp != null)) {KeyUp(this, kea); } if (kea.Handled) {return 1;} } } lParam.vkCode ++; lParam.scanCode ++; return CallNextHookEx(hhook, code, wParam, ref lParam); } It works fine but when I make a little change: lParam.vkCode ++; or lParam.scanCode ++; right before the return CallNextHookEx(...), the original keys still appears in Notepad. Ex. If I press "a", I expect the letter in Notepad will be "b" but it still "a". It seems like "lParam" doesn't change. Couldn't understand why?

  • EMSA_PSS_ENCODE with libssl

    - by luiss
    Hi I'm trying to use libssl to get some EMSA_PSS_ENCRODING through the function RSA_padding_add_PKCS1_type1 in libssl, but I can't find nor docs nor solutions, so this is the example code I've written: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <openssl/rsa.h> #include <openssl/err.h> FILE *error_file; int main() { int lSize; const unsigned char *string1= (unsigned char *)"The pen is on the table"; unsigned char *stringa=NULL; int num = 64; if ((stringa = (unsigned char *)OPENSSL_malloc(num)) == NULL) fprintf(stderr,"OPENSSL_malloc error\n"); fprintf(stdout,"string1 len is %u\n",lSize); if(RSA_padding_add_PKCS1_type_1(stringa,num,string1,lSize) != 1) fprintf(stderr,"Error: RSA_PADDING error\n"); error_file = fopen("libssl.log", "w"); ERR_print_errors_fp(error_file); fclose(error_file); fprintf(stdout,(char *)stringa); fprintf(stdout,"\n"); } The problem is that I get no output in stringa, I think the function RSA_padding_add.. should be initialized, but I can't find how to do it in the few doc at the openssl site. Thanks
