  • crazy asp.net error

    - by dominic
Hi I am having a problem debugging an issue on a website. Everything works locally, the local and server databases are the same The strange thing about the error is that it points to my local dev machine in the error stack. Is that crazy or what, The files are published and being hosted on a server machine and the error is pointing to a line of code on my local dev box. I feel like I am losing the plot. Can someone pls help be clear the air here because this is very weird Error in '/' Application. Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. • downloaded zip file returns zero has 0 bytes as size

    - by Yaw Reuben
    I have written a Java web application that allows a user to download files from a server. These files are quite large and so are zipped together before download. It works like this: 1. The user gets a list of files that match his/her criteria 2. If the user likes a file and wants to download he/she selects it by checking a checkbox 3. The user then clicks "download" 4. The files are then zipped and stored on a server 5. The user this then presented with a page which contains a link to the downloadable zip file 6. However on downloading the zip file the file that is downloaded is 0 bytes in size I have checked the remote server and the zip file is being created properly, all that is left is to serve the file the user somehow, can you see where I might be going wrong, or suggest a better way to serve the zip file. The code that creates the link is: <% String zipFileURL = (String) request.getAttribute("zipFileURL"); %> <p><a href="<% out.print(zipFileURL); %> ">Zip File Link</a></p> The code that creates the zipFileURL variable is: public static String zipFiles(ArrayList<String> fileList, String contextRootPath) { //time-stamping Date date = new Date(); Timestamp timeStamp = new Timestamp(date.getTime()); Iterator fileListIterator = fileList.iterator(); String zipFileURL = ""; try { String ZIP_LOC = contextRootPath + "WEB-INF" + SEP + "TempZipFiles" + SEP; BufferedInputStream origin = null; zipFileURL = ZIP_LOC + "FITS." + timeStamp.toString().replaceAll(":", ".").replaceAll(" ", ".") + ".zip"; FileOutputStream dest = new FileOutputStream(ZIP_LOC + "FITS." + timeStamp.toString().replaceAll(":", ".").replaceAll(" ", ".") + ".zip"); ZipOutputStream out = new ZipOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream( dest)); // out.setMethod(ZipOutputStream.DEFLATED); byte data[] = new byte[BUFFER]; while(fileListIterator.hasNext()) { String fileName = (String) fileListIterator.next(); System.out.println("Adding: " + fileName); FileInputStream fi = new FileInputStream(fileName); origin = new BufferedInputStream(fi, BUFFER); ZipEntry entry = new ZipEntry(fileName); out.putNextEntry(entry); int count; while ((count = origin.read(data, 0, BUFFER)) != -1) { out.write(data, 0, count); } origin.close(); } out.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return zipFileURL; }

  • PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server?

    - by mmiika
I'm considering using PostgreSQL with a .Net web app. Basically 3 reasons: Mature Geo Queries Small footprint + Linux Price I'm wondering a bit about tools though, SQL Server Profiler and query plans and performance monitors have been helpful. How is this world with Postgres? Some other things I should consider? Edit: Will most likely use NHibernate as ORM

  • REST/JSON: Should I include a newline after the JSON string?

    - by Mark Harrison
If I'm returning ["foo"] from a RESTful web query, Which of these is more proper? Will pedantic REST parsing die on the newline? ["foo"]\n (with newline, Content-Length=8) ["foo"] (no newline, Content-Length=7) For easy regression testing I like the form with the newline, but I want to make sure I won't be breaking any application frameworks that might have a more strict view of the REST format.

  • Testing REST webservices

    - by anjanb
HI There, My organization is working on building RESTful webservices on JBoss appserver. The QA team is used to testing SOAP webservices so far using SoapUI. SoapUI has a new version that has REST capabilities. We're considering using that. 1) Are there any publicly available RESTful services available on the net for free that someone could test ? 2) What tools are available(and used) for testing RESTful web services ? Thank you in Advance, BR, ~A

  • How is IE7 any better than IE6?

    - by Raul Agrait
Oftentimes in the web development community, you hear people complaining about developing for IE6. However, if you are developing using a robust JavaScript framework like jQuery, is developing for IE6 any different than developing for IE7?

  • Access JBOSS Tomcat Web Application from Remote Computer

    - by Rod
Hi, I just deployed a web application on JBOSS 4.2. It can be accessed locally only (http://localhost:8080/myApp). I cant access it from remote computer by typing its domain: (www.hostname.com:8080/myApp). I added Port 8080 as Exception in Windows Firewall. Note that the host (www.hostname.com) is reachable from remote computers via IIS on port 80. Thanks, Rod

  • NOAA web service for current weather

    - by Brian
I want to get the current weather conditions from the NOAA. I know they have a SOAP web service that can be used to get weather forecasts and XML files for current weather conditions for each of their weather stations. I could just use the XML file for the weather station nearest to where I want, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to search for the proper xml file by zipcode. Is there a simple way to get current weather conditions by zipcode from the NOAA?
