  • jQuery: preventdefault does not work

    - by Kent Miller
I somehow cannot achieve that the a-tag looses its default action when clicking it: <a href="#" class="button dismiss">dismiss</a> $(document).ready(function() { $('.dismiss').click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $('#output').empty(); $('#MyUploadForm .button').show(); }); }); When I click the button, the browser window scrolls to the top. What is wrong here?

  • How can you track mouse input using the fewest libraries in c.

    - by TimE
I'm not sure where to look to find this information, but I'd like to know how to get mouse input (or any hid input) using the fewest non standard libraries in c. Basically, is there an stdio equivalent for mouse (and other input) input in c? Or is there a library that is minimal and cross compatible on multiple platforms. Just being able to print mouse coordinates to a terminal window would be enough.

    - by Ryan French
Hi all, Am currently working on a site that uses a lot of cfwindow objects and I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to dynamically resize the window so that all the content fits in without the need for scroll bars. I have tried using the overflow=visible configuration but it doesnt seem to make a difference. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • How to change Firefox icon?

    - by Cédric Girard
Is there any way to change Firefox system icon (the one on the left top of the window)? Precision : I want to change the icon of a bundled version of Firefox with apache/php and my application. So manual operation on each computer is not a solution. I try Resource Hacker and it's the good solution. The add ons one is good too.

  • VS2010 constantly searching for something

    - by alekop
Hi, Recently my VS has started doing a search through all project assemblies after a project is reloaded, or after I close a window following a Go to Definition command. It just says Searching in the status bar, and enumerates the assembly names. It's driving me nuts, because the process can take up to a minute, and it completely locks up the whole application while it's doing this. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, Aleko

  • Java - StackOverflow Error on recursive 2D boolean array method that shouldn't happen.

    - by David W.
Hey everyone, I'm working on a runnable java applet that has a fill feature much like the fill method in drawing programs such as Microsoft Paint. This is how my filling method works: 1.) The applet gets the color that the user clicked on using .getRGB 2.) The applet creates a 2D boolean array of all the pixels in the window, with the value "true" if that pixel is the same color as the color clicked on or "false" if not. The point of this step is to keep the .getRGB method out of the recursive method to hopefully prevent this error. 3.) The applet recursively searches the 2D array of booleans where the user clicked, recording each adjacent point that is "true" in an ArrayList. The method then changes each point it records to false and continues. 4.) The applet paints every point stored in the ArrayList to a user selected color. All of the above steps work PERFECTLY if the user clicks within a small area, where only a few thousand pixels or so have their color changed. If the user selects a large area however (such as about 360,000 / the size of the applet window), the applet gets to the recursive stage and then outputs this error: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.lang.StackOverflowError at java.util.ArrayList.add(ArrayList.java:351) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:185) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) at paint.recursiveSearch(paint.java:190) (continues for a few pages) Here is my recursive code: public void recursiveSearch(boolean [][] list, Point p){ if(isValid(p)){ if(list[(int)p.y][(int)p.x]){ fillPoints.add(p); list[(int)p.y][(int)p.x] = false; recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x-1,p.y));//Checks to the left recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x,p.y-1));//Checks above recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x+1,p.y));//Checks to the right recursiveSearch(list, new Point(p.x,p.y+1));//Checks below } } } Is there any way I can work around an error like this? I know that the loop will never go on forever, it just could take a lot of time. Thanks in advance.

  • Possible to launch command line air app?

    - by gmoniey
Is it possible to create a command line Abode Air app? I know thats not the intended use of the framework, but I have a lot of utility code written in as3, and I have a need to programatically run some utility functions from another app (not flash). I know I can pass command line parameters to the Air app, but I would like to avoid having a window pop up while the calculations are being made. Thanks.

  • How does CSS 3 border-image work exactly?

    - by Tower
Hi, I have an image of 4x4 in size and I want to use it all around a DIV's border. The following: -moz-border-image: url("../images/window/side.png") 4 4 4 4 / 4px 4px 4px 4px repeat repeat will place left and right borders, but not bottom and top. What's wrong with it? I think I have misunderstood the syntax and if that is so, how does this syntax really work?

  • How to add a cross-browser mouse wheel function to a div in javascript?

    - by Shaunwithanau
I am trying to stop the default mouse wheel event that is called on the window and on a div and call my own function instead on the div. I need this to be cross-browser (without the use of a library. I know I need to use an eventListener and I think have to use both onmousewheel and DOMMouseScroll (for FF) but I think am getting caught up in the implementation somewhere. I appreciate any and all help.

  • What's the best way to run a Linux virtual server in Windows 7?

    - by Leonid Shevtsov
I need a virtual server for web development, it'll host Apache+Postgres+Ruby+something else. What's the most effective software to run such a server? (ie with least virtualization overhead) Is there a way to run Linux as as service? I use VirtualBox at the moment, but it's inconvenient in some ways, such as it needs an emulator window open which also captures keyboard input when alttabbed into. (Also, coLinux hangs at boot on my machine, so it's probably not an option)

  • How can I prevent javascript errors in my selenium tests from hanging my build system?

    - by lowellk
We are having a problem with our selenium tests which run in IE on a virtual machine. Whenever there is a javascript error, a popup shows up and puts our system into a 'stuck' state - a user has to go clear that and restart the selenium test run. Is there a way to prevent the javascript error popup from putting the system into its stuck state? Would setting window.error be of any help here?

  • Can Apache httpd be made to log errors to console instead of log files?

    - by Vilx-
I'm doing infrequent development with Apache/PHP on my Windows machine so I've opted to run apache as a console process instead of a service. It would be nice if errors could be logged to the console window instead of a logfile so I can see them immediately. Can this be done somehow? It doesn't seem that apache has such a capability built in and I can't find a mod that would do this either.

  • Query parameter using JS framework ?

    - by Maxim Veksler
Hi, I seem to not be able to find implementation from the common Ajax libraries (JQuery, mootools, prototypejs...) that would allow the operation of parsing the window.location.href for request parameter. I would expect something like: $P{"param1"} == "param1_value" Am I missing something? p.s. The web does contains implementation examples for such operations

  • Submitting form in php file accessed by Ajax?

    - by dronnoc
Hi people, I am trying to figure out how to submit a form in a page being accessed by Ajax? here are some code snippets to help demonstrate what i am trying to say. HTML BODY - THIS IS WHAT THE USER WILL SEE. <html> <head> <script language="javascript" src="linktoajaxfile.js"> </head> <body onLoad="gotoPage(0)"> <div id="fillThis"> </div> </body> </html> AJAX FILE var xmlhttp function gotoPage(phase) { xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Your browser does not support AJAX!"); return; } var url="pageofstuffce.php"; url=url+"?stg="+phase; url=url+"&sid="+Math.random(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("GET",url, true); xmlhttp.send(null); } function stateChanged() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("fillThis").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari return new XMLHttpRequest(); } if (window.ActiveXObject) { // code for IE6, IE5 return new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return null; } PAGE OF DATA <?php $stage = $_GET['stg']; if($stage == 0) { echo '<a onClick="gotoPage(1)">click me</a>'; } elseif($stage == 1) { <form> <input type="text" name="name"> <input type="submit" name="submit"> </form> } elseif(somehow can reach here) { show data from form. } ?> Can anyone perhaps help me get past the form and display the data in the same page? Also, i have looked around, and i don't think anything around has what i need... correct me if i'm wrong though :) Thanks in advance, and i hope i didn't put in too much detail :) Dronnoc EDIT Forgot to mention what I've tried; I have tried submitting the form to itself (same file) and that destroyed the ajax link, and opened the page. i have also tried just having the button move the page onto another step, but the $_POST variable is empty... i am at a loss, so does anyone else have any ideas?
