• Set request attributes when a Form is POSTed

  Is there any way to set request attributes (not parameters) when a form is posted? The problem I am trying to solve is: I have a JSP page displaying some data in a couple of dropdown lists. When the form is posted, my Controller servlet processes this request (based on the parameters set/specified in the form) and redirects to the same JSP page that is supposed to display addition details. I now want to display the same/earlier data in the dropdown lists without having to recompute or recalculate to get that same data. And in the said JSP page, the dropdown lists in the form are populated by data that is specified through request attributes. Right now, after the Form is POSTed and I am redirected to the same JSP page the dropdown lists are empty because the necessary request attributes are not present. I am quite the n00b when it comes to web apps, so an obvious & easy solution to this problem escapes me at the moment! I am open to suggestions on how to restructure the control flow in the Servlet. Some details about this app: standard Servlet + JSP, JSTL, running in Apache Tomcat 6.0. Thanks.

  i have been trying to register the third party dll file using the regsvr32 command, but it keeps giving me the error that 'the dll doesn't have a entry point, dll could not be registered'. Is it possible to register the dll and use it as a COM component in .NET ? Or I want to use that dll as a COM component in c#.NET. Is there any way to use that dll as COM Component. When i tried to use it as COM component, the dll file, its methods, interfaces are visible in .NET. but when i tried to use any of that interface it gives me error as 'Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {C4CC4F47-2AF6-41FA-A43D-01E8B3050D3F} failed due to the following error: 80040154.'. Plz tell me any solution.

  I have a lite-javascript run image gallery. The javascript grabs each element in the list and places it as a background in the parent element. Then the CSS styles the thumbnails as small blocks with a defined height/width. A click-event for each object toggles it’s child’s element’s visibility and adds an “active” class name to the . Using CSS, I'm trying to place the absolutely to make it appear at the same position for each thumb, but it's moving in relation to the thumbs. • cannot eliminate space between 2 horizontal divs inside containing div

  Should be easy, right? Just set the outer containing div's padding to zero, and set the two side-by-side divs inside the outer div to have margin:0 but that's having no effect on the space between the 2 horizontal divs. What I need is the red-outlined left div to touch the green-outlined right-side div. Despite my effort using padding and margin, the space between the 2 divs will not go away. • Problem inserting Pygames on a wxPython panel using Boa Constructor

  Hello, im new in Python so im hoping to to get some help to figure out what is going wrong. Im trying to run a Pygames from within wxPython panel (made on Boa Constructor). To do that i followed the instructions on the http://wiki.wxpython.org/IntegratingPyGame but still it isn't working.   I am trying to understand interfaces in Java and have this task to do which I am a stack with. It must be something easy, but I don't seem to see the solution. Interface contains a few methods, one of them should return true if all elements of this set are also in the set. • Rails routing of a controller's functions query

  So I've got a Users controller, and it has (amongst others) a function called details. The idea is that a user can go to localhost:3000/user/:user_id/details and be able to view the details of :user_id. For example, I have a user called "tester". When I go to the uri: http://localhost:3000/users/tester/details I'd want the details function to be called up, to render the details view, and to display the information for the user tester. But instead I get an error saying that No action responded to tester. Actions: change_password, create, current_user, details, forgot_password, index, login_required, new, redirect_to_stored, show, and update_attributes And I understand that to basically mean that if I wanted to access details, I should really be using http://localhost:3000/users/details Except that that isn't really working either... .< That is instead bringing me to http://localhost:3000/users/details/registries (which is the default path that I'd stipulated for anybody trying to view users/:user_id, so again, that's working the way I wanted it to) Point is: Can anybody help and tell me how I can go about getting users/:user_id/details to work the way I want it to and display the details of :user_id? My question is, how do I select the full pdf page and flip it round to display correctly. I have seen a few examples using ScaleCTM and TranslateCTM but couldn't seem to get them working. • Should I use interface builder or not?

  I'd like to know more about the pros and cons of using interface builder when developing iPhone/iPad apps. I've written a fairly complex and customized app that's on the app store right now, but all of the interfaces are hand coded as they are fairly complex. I've customised the navigation and tab bars with backgrounds, table view cells are manually drawn for speed, and some views are complex and scalable with many subviews. I'm pondering whether or not to start using interface builder but I'm not sure to what extent I'll use it and whether it's worth it at all. Is it quicker? Can things still be easily customised? Any advice would be most welcome!

• Automatically use inclusion tags (?) in a template, depending on installed apps

  The title may be a little confusing, but I don't know how else to call it. I would like to create a Django project with a large set of applications you could arbitrary turn on or off using INSTALLED_APPS option in settings.py (you would obviously also need to edit urls.py and run syncdb). After being turned on an app should be able to automatically: Register it's content in site-wide search. Luckily django-haystack has this built-in, so it's not a problem. Register cron jobs. django-cron does exactly that. Not a problem. Register a widget that should be displayed on the homepage. The homepage should include a list of boxes with widgets form different applications. I thought about inclusion tags, because you can put them anywhere on a page and they control both content and presentation. The problem is I don't know how to automatically get a list of inclusion tags provided by my applications, and display them one by one on a homepage. I need a way to register them somehow, and then display all registered tags.

  I am almost done with one Java project that I have been developing on Linux. Now I need to build and test it on Windows. So I have installed Eclipse on Windows XP 32-bit, and imported my project. All dependencies of project are in jar files in lib folder, and on Linux everything works well, but on Windows XP I get following error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Could not load SWT library. • jQuery slideToggle jump on close

  Hi, I'm trying to slideToggle a in a table with jQuery and it works in FF, OP, CHrome. Only IE (6,7,8) is giving me problems. It slides down perfectly down and up, but after the slide up animation is finished. The hidden pops up in full height and then closes. So I guess it must be somwhere inbetween when it switches from a minimal height to "display:none" that it appears for a short second. • Does anybody have practice in programming PCMEF - architectures?

  PCMEF is an architecture style presented in the book Practical Software Engineering by Maciaszek and Liong. The layers are: P: Presentation C: Controller M: Mediator E: Entity F: Foundation. It is some kind of enchancement compared with MVC - architecture. I recommend it to interactice, data and communicating - oriented purposes. I have programmed it using Visual Prolog. Foundation in my applications is the data model (domains) for the application. PCMEF is like a simulated computer: Presentation is the display, Controller the user interface and event handling, Mediator the internal logic and data highway. Entity is the database or external interfaces and F defines the knowledge. This is a really nice small architecture. Does any other have experiance of it?

• Need method to seek next/previous records id without cycling through all records.

  I am using MySQL and PHP. I have a MySQL blog post result set with id fields, and publish_date fields. I display one blog post per page, and the script knows which blog post to display based on $_GET['id'], which correlates to each blog entry's id field. I would like to reference them by id in the url, because I would like each blog post to have a perminant url. I would like to order the blog posts by publish date (descending). Now, on each page there will be next and previous links, which contain the $_GET['id'] value for the next and previous blog posts. How can I figure out what the id of the next and previous blog posts (determined by it's publish_date order) without cycling through each mysql result row? I can't mysql_data_seek(), because I do not know the row index of the current blog post id. I do not want to store a row index in a GET variable because the urls would no longer be perminant. I obviously cannot store the row index in a SESSION variable because then direct links to specific blog posts would have broken next and previous links. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• Why does PHP 5.2 disallow abstract static class methods?

  After enabling strict warnings in PHP 5.2, I saw a load of strict standards warnings from a project that was originally written without strict warnings: Strict Standards: Static function Program::getSelectSQL() should not be abstract in Program.class.inc The function in question belongs to an abstract parent class Program and is declared abstract static because it should be implemented in its child classes, such as TVProgram. I did find references to this change here: Dropped abstract static class functions. Due to an oversight, PHP 5.0.x and 5.1.x allowed abstract static functions in classes. As of PHP 5.2.x, only interfaces can have them. My question is: can someone explain in a clear way why there shouldn't be an abstract static function in PHP?

• Saving form values to database after a user logs in

  Hi. We have a form with ratings to submit for a certain restaurant. After the user has entered some values and wants to submit them, we check whether the user is logged in or not. If not, we display a login form and let the user put in his account data and redirect him to the restaurant he wanted to submit a rating for. The problem is, that after he successfully logged in himself, the submitted values are not saved to the database (which works fine if the user is already logged in). So I wondered if it is possible, to somehow save the data although the user is not logged in. I thought of maybe saving the filled values in a variable and have then automatically re-entered after we redirected the user. But I guess this wont work because we use before_filter :login_required, :only => [ :create ] So we couldnt even access the filled in values, since we display the login-form before the method has processed the values in the form, right? Any idea how we can make rails to save the values or at least have them automatically re-entered to the form? Thanks!

I'm working on a asp.net webpage and I want to add a "search function" (textbox where user inputs name or surname or both or just parts of it and gets back all related information). I have two tables ("Person" and "Application") and I want to display some columns from Person (name and surname) and some from Application (score, position,...). I know how I could do it using sql, but I want to learn more about linq and thus I want to do it using linq. I really want to know how to do such things using linq as I'll be dealing also with some similar problems with local data, where I can use only linq. • How to alter Postgres table data based on its contents?

  This is probably a super simple question, but I'm struggling to come up with the right keywords to find it on Google. I have a Postgres table that has among its contents a column of type text named content_type. That stores what type of entry is stored in that row. There are only about 5 different types, and I decided I want to change one of them to display as something else in my application (I had been directly displaying these). It struck me that it's funny that my view is being dictated by my database model, and I decided I would convert the types being stored in my database as strings into integers, and enumerate the possible types in my application with constants that convert them into their display names. That way, if I ever got the urge to change any category names again, I could just change it with one alteration of a constant. I also have the hunch that storing integers might be somewhat more efficient than storing text in the database. First, a quick threshold question of, is this a good idea? Any feedback or anything I missed? Second, and my main question, what's the Postgres command I could enter to make an alteration like this? I'm thinking I could start by renaming the old content_type column to old_content_type and then creating a new integer column content_type. However, what command would look at a row's old_content_type and fill in the new content_type column based off of that?

• R: building a simple command line plotting tool/Capturing window close events

  I am trying to use R within a script that will act as a simple command line plot tool. I.e. user pipes in a csv file and they get a plot. I can get to R fine and get the plot to display through various temp file machinations, but I have hit a roadblock. I cannot figure out how to get R to keep running until the users closes the window. If I plot and exit, the plot disappears immediately. If I plot and use some kind of infinite loop, the user cannot close the plot; he must exit by using an interrupt which I don't like. I see there is a getGraphicsEvent function, but it claims that the device is not supported (X11). Anyway, it doesn't appear to actually support an onClose event, only onMouseDown. Any ideas on how to solve this? edit: Thanks to Dirk for the advice to check out the tk interface. • How should I link two items with MouseMovementListeners?

  I'm working on a program that will display two "views" of the same set of items. So I need to have something set up so that when the top down view is changed, the side view is updated (and vice versa). Here's a brief outline of the relevant code so you can get an idea of my structure so far: public class DraggableComponent extends JComponent { //Contains code for MouseMovementListener that makes the item draggable } public class ItemGraphic extends DraggableComponent { //Code to render the graphic } public class Item { private ItemGraphic topGraphic; private ItemGraphic sideGraphic; } I'm able to get each graphic to display fine in my GUI. I can also independently drag each graphic. I'm missing the "linking." Some ideas I've been thinking about: Have one listener for the whole GUI. Loop through each Item and if the cursor is within the bounds of either graphic, move the other graphic. I'm concerned about the efficiency of this method. Multiple "paired" listeners (not quite sure how this would work, but the idea is that each graphic would have a listener for the other paired graphic)

• Autocomplete for generic types in Eclipse

  "Refer to objects by their interfaces" is a good practise, as mentioned in Effective Java. So for example i prefer List<String> al = new ArrayList<String>(); over ArrayList<String> al = new ArrayList<String>(); in my code. One annoying thing is that if i type ArrayList<String> al = new and then hit Ctrl+Space in Eclipse i get ArrayList<String>() as propostal. But if i type List al = new and then hit Ctrl+Space i will get only propostal to define anonymous inner class, but not propostals such as new ArrayList<String>(), what is 99% the case, or for example new Vector<String>(). Is there any way to get the subclasses as propostals for generic types?

Is there any way to do this? I notice that div.input-container isn't expanding, which is the old multi column problem with CSS. I thought I could get this going with display: table-cell and vertical-align: bottom but I haven't been able to do it yet. I don't mind that IE6/7 won't render it correctly.
