    Hi, I have a asp.net application connecting to a .net web service, whenever i login & reach the main page, web services returns me back the data. But if i login for may be more than 1 or 2hrs, when i click any of the links i get: "System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond" What is the fix for this? Thanks.

  • How does the "Remember my password" checkbox work?

    There are numerous login forms with the little check box "Remember my password" so that the next time you visit the website, the browser automatically fills up the password field for you. But I have noticed a behavior in modern browsers, such as Chrome/Firefox, which shows up a notification bar to save the user name/passoword even though that particular web page does not have any "remember password" check box. so my questions are: If I have to put the "remember password" check box in a login form, what do I have to do when the user checks it? I mean, do I have to store the password in browser cookies (or Local Storage)? If so, should the password be encrypted or plain text? The "Save password" notification bar is a browser's functionality or is there any way to invoke it from the web page?

  • Admin required for Visual Studio 2008 Setup Project

    I have a VS 2008 Setup Project that is installing a very simple application in the local user's App Folder. When the Setup Project runs, it is requiring the Admin to login to run it. How can I allow a Standard User to run the installation. There are no Prerequisites. The MSI file is the only file to be run (no Setup.exe). I have signed the msi with a certificate that is installed on the user's machine as Trusted. I just can't get rid of the Admin login requirement.

  • PayPal testing without using Sandbox

    I am developing a website in PHP that accepts PayPal payments. It uses the IPN from PayPal and has a custom payment template etc etc. It all works great through the Sandbox server but when it comes to showing my client, I don't want to have to tell them to login to/create a Sandbox account, create a buyer account and make a payment - he hasn't got time for that and probably won't be able to do it. Therefore, my question is - is there any simple way that I can show my client the PayPal integration in "test mode" without him using the sandbox? I realise that I can set the transaction value to 0.01 and just test on the live PayPal server but that isn't an ideal solution. Cheers! Edit: Just to better explain what I mean, this is what my client sees when he first goes to checkout; As you can see, he has to login to his Sandbox account before then purchasing the item using the buyer email that he sets up. It's just confusing and totally non user-friendly.

  • IE won't start session from an iframe?..

    The task was to bypass login form on remote server with a session_id acquired through a call to server's web API. So that user wouldn't have to login twice. Since there's no way to set cookies for different domain. What we came up to was - put a little file on remote server, to which we pass encrypted session_id from hidden iframe and which is supposed to start a proper session for a remote app, which is then loaded in another iframe. This approach works fine in FF/Chrome, but not IE... However if I copy url to self-made remote authorization script from iframe's src attribute to to IE's address bar and load it from there, session get's created as expected. But for some reason it just doesn't want to do the same from an iframe. Does anyone have any clue, why this is happening?

    I know in the Manuel it says that the header has to be the first thing in a script, but how come I see some codes where header("Location: member.php?id=$username") is in a if-statement? Ex: //a bunch of codes above if($result!="0"){ // authenication correct lets login $_SESSION["password"] = $password;; $_SESSION["username"] = $username; header("Location: member.php?id=$username"); } else { echo "Wrong username or password. Please try again!"; } But when I do this, it sometimes would/won't throw an error. How do I allow the header (); to be used in a script without any errors? I want to redirect the user back to the login if they click "no" and to the homepage if they click "yes".

    I have a Login Activity which stores credentials in its own SharedPreferences; then I added two getters for reading them, something like public String getUsername() { return getPreferences(MODE_PRIVATE).getString("#username", null); } but this throws a NPE when I call it like this String mUser = (new Login()).getUsername(); It seems that the Activity cannot read its preferences after a simple contructor call, as if it were in some uncompleted state. I read lots of related topics, but wasn't able to find a solution. Basically, I need to share these credentials among activities in my application

  • How to exit current activity to homescreen (without using "Home" button)?

    Hi everyone, I am sure this will have been answered but I proved unable to find it. So please excuse my redundancy. What I am trying to do is emulating the "Home" button which takes one back to Android's homescreen. So here is what causes me problems: I have 3 launcher activities. The first one (which is connected to the homescreen icon) is just a (password protected) configuration activity. It will not be used by the user (just admin) One of the other 2 (both accessed via an app widget) is a questionnaire app. I'm allowing to jump back between questions via the Back button or a GUI back button as well. When the questionnaire is finished I sum up the answers given and provide a "Finish" button which should take the user back to the home screen. For the questionnaire app I use a single activity (called ItemActivity) which calls itself (is that recursion as well when using intents?) to jump from one question to another: Questionnaire.serializeToXML(); Intent i = new Intent().setClass(c, ItemActivity.class); if(Questionnaire.instance.getCurrentItemNo() == Questionnaire.instance.getAmountOfItems()) { Questionnaire.instance.setCompleted(true); } else Questionnaire.instance.nextItem(); startActivity(i); The final screen shows something like "Thank you for participating" as well as the formerly described button which should take one back to the homescreen. But I don't really get how to exit the Activity properly. I've e.g. used this.finish(); but this strangely brings up the "Thank you" screen again.   • How do I add two alternating UITableViews to an existing UINavigationController view?

    I'm new to iPhone development and I am writing an iPhone app that needs two different table views, which are selectable using a button bar or tab bar. These table views are both the same size, but only cover about two thirds of the screen from the bottom up. The top portion of the screen remains the same when either of these tables is displayed. I'd also like to animate (flip) these views when the user selects one or the other. The view that these two tables will be displayed on is the detail view of my app where the user has already selected an item from the primary screen's table. I'm using a UINavigationController to manage the primary and detail views and I have this working. I also have the first of these two detail tables working as part of my detail view, but I think it makes more sense to isolate the code for these two tables and not duplicate all of the code for the part of the detail view that doesn't change. I don't really care how these two table views are created (either in code or via IB). I've tried several things and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help or ideas (with sample code) would be greatly appreciated!

  • Weird splitter behaviour when moving it

    My demo app displays two rectangles which should fill whole browser's screen. There is a vertical splitter between them. This looks like a basic scenario but I have no idea how to implement this in xaml. I cannot force this to fill whole screen and when moving splitter then whole screen grows.   • Sharepoint 2010 - AAM - SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.ID) RootWeb.Url is from wrong zone

    I have a sharepoint 2010 web application with 2 different zones, default zone with windows login (for search crawl), internet with Claims (FBA) for users to login. I have custom webparts that uses using (SPSite mySite = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.ID)) using (SPWeb web = mySite.RootWeb) { string url = web.Url I use this url to include to emails etc... Problem is: when user connects to FBA (extended zone), and goes to the webpart,string url in my code returns the url of the default zone(windows auth) where user should not be touching. I have different host headers for these zones, any help would be very appreciated. Update: fixed it with using (SPSite newsite =new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.ID,SPContext.Current.Site.Zone)) using (SPWeb web = newsite.RootWeb) { //do your implementation here }

  • VB.Net 2008 Chrome or Firefox control

    I'm trying to figure out a way to have multiple sessions at the same website at the same time. I've been using the SHDocVw.InternetExplorer control in Visual Studio 2008 to open a web browser and log in, but at times we need to use a separate login. I haven't found a way to do this using just internet explorer (it just uses the credentials of the first login), so I figure if I can find a similar control for another brower that allows DOM level access then I can just use that. If anyone knows of anything I can try that would be very helpful.

    I am wondering about my VPS providers ubuntu terminal. Are all these terminals the same? I think they are so user-UN-friendly. I can't copy-paste into the terminal, when I try opening textfiles, I can't scroll up and down easily. I cant save easily. Nothing is easy... Is it always like this with Ubuntu? Is there any way to make it easier? I use windows but I login to my vps provider with login details and then simply click "terminal" to open the terminal. Please help me out here

  • How to determine if the camera button is half pressed

    I am creating a small test camera application, and I would like to be able to implement a feature that allows focus text bars to be present on the screen while the hardware camera button is pressed half way down. I created a camera_ButtonHalfPress event to perform the focus action, but I am unsure of how to toggle the text bars I would like to show on the screen accordingly. Essentially, my goal would be to show the text bars while the camera button is pressed half way down, and then remove them if the button is pressed all the way or the button is released before being pressed all the way down. The button being released is the part I am having trouble with.   • Facebook Connect settings for popup dialog

    I'm in the process of implementing Facebook Connect for my site, everything seems to be working fine so far except that the look of my popup dialog upon clicking on "Login with Facebook" is totally different from what I see on other sites like say Posterous. I'm only getting a popup with the msg "Do you want to log in to with your Facebook account?" followed by the 2 login fields whereas Posterous has a more detailed dialog box with 2 images and more descriptive text. Am i missing out on some configuration settings here or? Thanks

    Hello, I am trying to do what I believe is called a join query. First, in a MySQL table called "login," I want to look up what "loginid" is in the record where "username" equals $profile. (This will be just one record / row in the MySQL table). Then, I want to take that "loginid" and look up all rows / records in a different MySQL table called "submission," and pull data that have that "loginid." This could possibly be more than one record / row. How do I do this? The code below doesn't seem to work.   • Authenticating mssql users through different logins

    I'm developing a new node.js based frontend for an old intranet site using mssql server and Classic ASP. Both the new and the old site will coexist during the transition phase and both must access the same mssql server using the same database principals. The old ASP/IIS site uses integrated windows login. The new node-based frontend has to use sql server based logins/principals (edit: while the IIS/ASP site must keep using Windows server principals) and all existing database users/principals must keep working wherever they login from. From reading around, it appears that a database principal can not be assigned to multiple server principals, therefore it seems unlikely there's a simple solution to this. I'd like to know if anybody has had to deal with a similar situation before and how they've gone about it.

    i'm working on a front display for an alfresco filled with pictures. i'm building my pictures url like this : http://myHost.com:8080/share/proxy/alfresco-noauth/api/node/content/workspace/SpacesStore/bf0a8b21-b8d9-487d-a529-dee8c49d7c6f/filetitle.jpg?alf_ticket=myTicket where myHost is the server and myTicket is the ticket generated at this url : http://myHost.com:8080/alfresco/service/api/login?u=login&pw=password Picture is displaying correctly with this url, but i want to use phpthumb to resize it, and when i try to use it on my picture, i get an http 500 error on the script and the following log : PHP Warning: getimagesize(http://myHost.com:8080/share/proxy/alfresco-noauth/api/node/content/workspace/SpacesStore/bf0a8b21-b8d9-487d-a529-dee8c49d7c6f/filetitle.jpg?alf_ticket=myTicket): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!     right now I am trying to Setup Continuouse Integration - Delivery for a basic WCF Service, which will be hosted on a Microsoft Azure VM. The Project is Version Controlled through Visual Studio Online. So I installed Jenkins (also on the Azure VM), TFS plugin etc. and started the first Test Build: As Server URL I used "[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection" and for Login purposes my Microsoft Account (I can Access VSO with that).
