• How do you authenticate user generated "apps" for your app?

  I'm think something like Facebook apps here. User generated pieces of code that people can write to interact with my app. I understand how an authenticated API works, but this seems a little more complicated because not only does the APP have to authenticate itself (with a regular api-key) but the USER using the app has to be authenticated somehow too, without giving the app free reign. I've been reading a bit here to see how FB does it: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/How_Facebook_Authenticates_Your_Application And it looks like you have to pass a signature in addition to the api-key along with every call, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how this gets generated and used on the other end (my server). Figure there must be a simple explanation of this out there? Thanks! P.S. I'm building a Rails app if there are any applicable gems/plugins.

  After building a project group of 2 projects with Delphi (2009) I digitally sign the 2 exes using InstallAware Code signing, an exe that shipped with Delphi 2009. How is it possible to automize the digital signature, so when I build I can also attach digital signature. For digital signing I use a pvk (private key) file and an spc (Sw publisher certificate) file. Subquestion: Moreover I created a project group because I have 2 exes, but they are almost the same, the only thing that changes is the Application icon and the application name (one is ProductOne.dpr, the other is ProductTwo.dpr). In practice I have 2 brands of the same product, I have a single build but activation keys details activate one or the other, anyway now I was asked to change the icon and the filename, and for this I need to build 2 projects, activation key is not enough anymore to distinguish between the 2. Anyway if there is a way to do this from a single project it would be better.

• Pygame program that can get keyboard input with caps

  I have a Pygame program that needs text input. The way it does this is to get keyboard input and when a key is pressed it renders that key so it is added to the screen. Essentially it acts like a text field. The problem is, when you hold shift it doesn't do anything. I relize this is because the program ignores shift input and instead writes the text if it's number is under 128. I have thought of setting a variable when shift is pressed then capitalizing if it was true, but string capitalization only woks on letters, not things like numbers or semicolons. Is there maybe a number I can add to the ascii number typed to modify it if shift is pressed, or something else?

• Deletion procedure for a Binary Search Tree

  Consider the deletion procedure on a BST, when the node to delete has two children. Let's say i always replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree. The question is: is this procedure commutative? That is, deleting x and then y has the same result than deleting first y and then x? I think the answer is no, but i can't find a counterexample, nor figure out any valid reasoning. EDIT: Maybe i've got to be clearer. Consider the transplant(node x, node y) procedure: it replace x with y (and its subtree). So, if i want to delete a node (say x) which has two children i replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree: y = minimum(x.right) transplant(y, y.right) // extracts the minimum (it doesn't have left child) y.right = x.right y.left = x.left transplant(x,y) The question was how to prove the procedure above is not commutative.

I read from this page: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/User:C_Sharp that there's this Microsoft SDK for Facebook Platform that has binary assemblies that I can use to write my C# app. As a start, I want to try out the example mentioned on the above-mentioned page -- one that gets me a friend list. The problem is: I am completely new to this Facebook development thing and I see I am going to need, at the very least, an API Key and some Facebook service Secret key or some such, to begin writing some code. Do I also need a developer account? Where do I get all these things from?

  This is a bit hard for me to articulate, but in PHP you can say something like: $myArray['someindex'] = "my string"; and if there is no index named that, it will create/assign the value, and if there IS an index, it will overwrite the existing value. Compare this to Javascript where today I had to do checks like so: if (!myObject[key]) myObject[key] = "value"; I know this may be a bit of a picky point, but is there a name for the ability of PHP (and many other languages) to do these checks on their own as opposed to the more verbose (read: PITA) method of Javascript?

You may be able to solve the problem by doing one of the following: 1) Install the Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5. 2) Install Visual Studio 2008. 3) Manually set the above registry key to the correct location. 4) Pass the correct location into the "ToolPath" parameter of the task.

  Hello guys! So, here is what I want to do. I have a model Staff, that has a foreign key to the User model. I also have a model Match that has a foreign key to the User model. I want to select how much Matches every Staff has. I don't know how to do that, so far I only got it working for the User model. From Staff, it will not allow to annonate Match. But the question is, how do I retrieve the information (i.e. the actual values of "key" and "value" in each of the array positions)?   When I run this SQL statement: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX WordsIndex ON Words (Word ASC); I get the following exception message: The CREATE UNIQUE INDEX statement terminated because a duplicate key was found for the object name 'dbo.Words' and the index name 'WordsIndex'. The duplicate key value is (ass). The statement has been terminated. The 'Word' column has a datatype of nvarchar(100). There are two items in the 'Word' column that SQL Server interprets as the same: 'aß' and 'ass', which causes the indexing failure. Why would SQL Server interpret those two different words as the same word?

• CakePHP Bake association problem

  I have only two tables in my database with a one-to-many relationship between them (user hasMany messages) and am trying to get basic CRUD functionality going. Bake detects the associations correctly and specifies them correctly inside the model classes, but in controllers and views it looks like Cake doesn't know anything about those associations -- I don't even get a select tag for user_id when I go add a new message. Has anyone come across this problem before? What can I be doing wrong? • start .net application from start menu search

  bla.exe (application alias) points to a .net application called wpfapp1.exe. When i add a key&value to eg. this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\bla.exe and then start application using Run - bla.exe it starts however when i start application using windows search i get an "windows cannot find wpfapp1.exe. make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I have successfully identified problem: this error only occurs to .net applications while native one start normally (eg. firefox.exe). So is there any .net config that i've missed during development?

  Hello, I have a test table. The test table is as follows: CREATE TABLE mytest ( num1 int(10) unsigned NOT NULL, KEY key1 (num1) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1; I inserted 50 million rows in this table. When I do show table status the avg_row_length is 7. I was expecting to see 4 since mySQL uses 4 bytes for integers. Does the key have an effect on the avg_row_length?   Hello, I'm porting a small C++ console game to C# and it seems that I can't stop key presses from being printed to the console. In C++ I get the keystroke with this method, which also suppress the keystrokes from being printed to the console: bool Game::getInput(char *c) { if (_kbhit()) { *c = _getch(); return true; } return false; } I tried to do the equivalent in C# by doing: Key = Console.ReadKey(); But this does not suppress the character from being printed to the console, causing obvious problems. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

  Has anyone had difficulty getting what has otherwise been a solid iPhone app working on the iPad? I was under the impression that iPhone apps would run without problems on the iPad. • Slime in emacs seems has conflicts with autopair

  I have just install slime in emacs. And after removed all the other plugins for debuging, I found that slime seems had conflicts with autopair.(Or a bug of autopair?).In slime, when I typed C-c C-c, the minibuffer displayed error like: error in process filter: define-key: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil error in process filter: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil error in process filter: define-key: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil error in process filter: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil Even more, the error message still alerted after I killed the slime buffer.   I'm new to Python, as well as SQL Alchemy, but not the underlying development and database concepts. I know what I want to do and how I'd do it manually, but I'm trying to learn how an ORM works. I have two tables, Images and Keywords. The Images table contains an id column that is its primary key, as well as some other metadata. The Keywords table contains only an id column (foreign key to Images) and a keyword column. I'm trying to properly declare this relationship using the declarative syntax, which I think I've done correctly. Base = declarative_base() class Keyword(Base): __tablename__ = 'Keywords' __table_args__ = {'mysql_engine' : 'InnoDB'} id = Column(Integer, ForeignKey('Images.id', ondelete='CASCADE'), primary_key=True) keyword = Column(String(32), primary_key=True) class Image(Base): __tablename__ = 'Images' __table_args__ = {'mysql_engine' : 'InnoDB'} id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True, autoincrement=True) name = Column(String(256), nullable=False) keywords = relationship(Keyword, backref='image') This represents a many-to-many relationship. One image can have many keywords, and one keyword can relate back to many images. I want to do a keyword search of my images. I've tried the following with no luck. Conceptually this would've been nice, but I understand why it doesn't work. image = session.query(Image).filter(Image.keywords.contains('boy')) I keep getting errors about no foreign key relationship, which seems clearly defined to me. I saw something about making sure I get the right 'join', and I'm using 'from sqlalchemy.orm import join', but still no luck. image = session.query(Image).select_from(join(Image, Keyword)).\ filter(Keyword.keyword == 'boy') I added the specific join clause to the query to help it along, though as I understand it, I shouldn't have to do this. image = session.query(Image).select_from(join(Image, Keyword, Image.id==Keyword.id)).filter(Keyword.keyword == 'boy') So finally I switched tactics and tried querying the keywords and then using the backreference. However, when I try to use the '.images' iterating over the result, I get an error that the 'image' property doesn't exist, even though I did declare it as a backref. result = session.query(Keyword).filter(Keyword.keyword == 'boy').all() I want to be able to query a unique set of image matches on a set of keywords. I just can't guess my way to the syntax, and I've spent days reading the SQL Alchemy documentation trying to piece this out myself. I would very much appreciate anyone who can point out what I'm missing.
