  • Java - Reg. Ex. File Question

    I'm grabbing lines from a text file and sifting line by line using regular expressions. I'm trying to search for blank lines, meaning nothing or just whitespace. However, what exactly is empty space? I know that whitespace is \s but what is a line that is nothing at all? null (\0)? newline (\n)? I tried the test harness in the Java tutorial to try and test to see what an empty space is but no luck so far.

    I'm using a fairly simple system to load javascript dynamically: include = function (url) { var e = document.createElement("script"); e.src = url; e.type="text/javascript"; document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(e); }; Let's say I have a file test.js which has the following contents: var foo = 4; Now, in my original script, I want to use include(test.js); console.log(foo); However, I get a 'foo has not been defined' error on this. I'm guessing it has to do with the dynamic script being included as the last child of the <head> tag. How can I get this to work?

    My goal is to upload a image(.jpg or .png)from client's folder to tomcat6 server through hessian protocol. And do image processing using opencv on server, then return the image back to client. Is the following transfering steps correct? put a test.jpg image on client's folder -- convert the test.jpg in client.java(main.java) class to BufferedImage -- convert the BufferedImage to mat or Iplimage in server for using openCV.I have set a hello world sample from Simple Messaging Example using Hessian , and searched from Hessian with large binary data and other websites, but still dont know how to use it!     Hey Guys, I have the following html: HTML markup <ul id="test"> <li><a href="http://www.yahoo.com">yahoo</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.google.com">Google</a></li> </ul> And some JS code: JQuery/JavaScript Code $('ul#test').each(function() { var select=$(document.createElement('select')).insertBefore($(this).hide()); $('>li a', this).each(function() { option=$(document.createElement('option')).appendTo(select).val(this.href).html($(this).html()); }); }); This code produces a select dropdown menu, exactly what I want, but my question is how do I go to the url on select? So if I click yahoo, it brings me to yahoo.com? Thanks for your help!

However, with codelite, anjuta and kdevelop I encountered a problem: when I am trying to read / write in files I get segmentation fault: core dumped.   • Javascript to add cdata section on the fly?

    I'm having trouble with special characters that exist in an xml node attribute. To combat this, I'm trying to render the attributes as child nodes and, where necessary, using cdata sections to get around the special characters. The problem is, I can't seem to get the cdata section appended to the node correctly. I'm iterating over the source xml node's attributes and creating new nodes. If the attribute.name = "description" I want to put the attribute.text() in a cdata section and append the new node.   • JS Framework that doesn't use CSS selectors?

    A thing that I noticed about most JavaScript frameworks is that the most common way to find/access the DOM elements is to use CSS selectors. However this usually requires the framework to include a CSS selector parser, because they need to support selectors, that the browser natively doesn't, foremost the frameworks own proprietary extensions. I would think that these parsers are large and slow. Wouldn't it be more efficient to have something that doesn't require a parser, such a chained method calls? Some like: id("example").children().class("test").hasAttribute("href") instead of $("#example > .test[href]") Are there any frameworks around that do something like this? And how do they compare with jQuery and friends in regard to performance and size? EDIT: You can consider this a theoretical discussion topic. I don't plan to use anything other than jQuery in any practical projects in near furure. I was just wondering why there aren't any other, possibly better approaches.

  • Why isn't my favicon appearing in IE7/8?

It will not appear in IE 7/8 no matter what I do! I've tried everything I can think of, including: generating the ICO with a variety of different utilities, changing the syntax of the favicon link elements in the document head, using absolute, relative, and root-relative URLs in the favicon link elements, using a PNG instead of an ICO file, ensuring that I am uploading the file via FTP in binary mode, As a longtime web developer/programmer, I can't believe that this is tripping me up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Final Integration Testing for Q.A.

    A medium sized rails app that our company has been working on is getting close to the end of development and we are going to start doing Q.A. testing on it. We've have been writing unit, functional and integration tests all along and our test coverage is about 99% (even though that really doesn't mean anything). We feel like we have a pretty good test suite but I was wondering if we should be writing final integration tests for every little action we are going to do during our Q.A. process. If so, would using Shoulda or Cucumber be a good idea? We haven't used either of those testing tools yet, but they sound really great. Any ideas or thoughts would be really helpful. Thanks

    I would like to have a function that can "wrap" any other function call. In this particular case, it would allow me to write some more generic transaction handling around some specific operations. I can write this for any particular number of arguments, e.g. for one argument: Public Shared Sub WrapFunc(Of T)(ByVal f As Action(Of T), ByVal arg As T) ' Test some stuff, start transaction f(arg) ' Test some stuff, end transaction End Sub ... but I was hoping to have this handle any number of arguments without having to have duplicate code for 0 args, 1 arg, 2 args, etc. Is there a way of doing this?

  • Spring FactoryBean and scopes working together

    I'd like to use FactoryBeans and scopes together. Specifically, I'd like the object created and returned by a FactoryBean to be placed into a specified (perhaps custom) scope. The issue is that doing the following: <bean class="x.y.z.TestFactoryBean" scope="test" /> Results in the FactoryBean itself being scoped, and has somewhat unpredictable behaviour on the object created by the factory. I understand why this is; the factory itself is a first-class spring-managed bean, and has its own lifecycle. However, I can't find a way to specify that the object returned from the factory should itself be scoped. On the other hand, this does exactly what I want (as long as TestFactoryBean does NOT implement the FactoryBean interface): <bean class="x.y.z.TestFactoryBean" name="testFactory"> <bean class="x.y.z.TestBean" factory-bean="testFactory" factory-method="getObject" scope="test" /> So the real question is, how can I make Spring behave like it does for the 2nd example above, but using real FactoryBeans?
