• Does the Dalvik file format (*.dx) support more instructions than a Java .class file?

  Is there anything the Dalvik VM supports (in terms of bytecode) which is not used currently because the .class files don't have it? As an example, if people would write their own Source-to-DX converter for their functional language XYZ, would they be able to implement e. g. full tail calls although the .class file does support tail calls only under certain circumstances?

  Hi, i have a wcf service which runs perfectly on my dev machine (vs2010, target 3.5) but once deployed, it shows me the code behind of the service (actually the plain text of the .svc file) and not the normal service page: <%@ ServiceHost Language="C#" Debug="true" Service="SilverlightPoc.Web.FinanceData" CodeBehind="FinanceData.svc.cs" %> Anyone any idea why the .svc file is rendered as plain text and not as wcf service?

• Faster code with another compiler

  I'm using the standard gcc compiler in math software development with C-language. I don't know that much about compilers or compiler options, and I was just wondering, is it possible to make faster executables using another compiler or choosing better options? The default Makefile sets options -ffast-math and -O3 and I think both of them have some impact in the overall calculation time. My software is using memory quite extensively, so I imagine some options related to memory management might do the trick? Any ideas?

  in OO programming, is there some conceptual pattern, ideas, about handling multiple errors? for example, i have a method that performs some checks and should return an error message for each error found ['name is too short', 'name contains invalid unicode sequences', 'name is too long'] now, should i use an array of exceptions (not thrown exceptions)? or something like this is better: class MyExceptionList extends Exception{ public Void addException(Exception e){} public Array getExceptions(){} } any theory behind this argument will be appreciated! • Localization problems in iPhone

  Hi I have been trying to localize my iPhone app in two languages - english and german I have created two folders en.lproj and de.lproj each containing Localizable.strings file for respective language. I have included these files in my resources folder, changed the encoding of these files to UTF-16. I have tried cleaning the project and building it again, deleting folder at path: Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User But the problem is still there. Anybody having an idea please help.
