• How to reset persistent scrollbar position after div refresh in FF3?

  Hi, I'm experiencing a weird scrollbar issue. I'm building a page that uses jQuery and PHP to dynamically load images into a DIV sequentially. This DIV is a fixed height but uses a scrollbar for its variable width. The problem is that the scrollbar does not reset after a dynamic refresh of the DIV. So when the user scrolls and then refreshes with new content, the scroll bar position stays persistent instead of resetting back to the left. This seems to only happen in FF3. The scrollbar resets perfectly fine in Chrome, Safari, and IE8. For each refresh, the DIV is hidden, emptied, sized with CSS, then sequentially appended with images. I've tried resetting white-space: normal before the nowrap, playing around with overflow, and also jQuery's scrollLeft to no avail. It still behaves strangely in FF3, and only FF3. http://www.shadowshapes.com/uttdev/ Click a thumbnail, move the scrollbar then click another thumb. Thanks for any help!

  Hello, So i have one div element that i append on my DOM with a click of a link. The problem is that i should be able to move that element around, but if i append it to my DOM i can't drag it at all. So is the live()-function solution? If it is, how should i use it? I kinda don't know how.   I'm a programmer who's beginning to appreciate the knowledge & usability of Algorithms in my work as I move forward with my skill-set. I don't want to take the short path by learning how to apply algorithms "as-is" but would rather like to know the foundation and fundamentals behind them. For that I need Math, at which I'm pretty "basic". I'm considering getting tuition's for that. • How do (or can I) hack a gem temporarily while looking for a bug?

  I have a gem installed in my home directory on a laptop (eg not THE server). I have installed ruby 1.9.1 and also some other gems, notably right_aws - which allows access to s3, etc with ruby. All works, except there is a bug when I do a query on SimpleDB, and the returned list of items includes an item with any two byte utf-8 character in its itemName(). So I look through the sources of the right_aws gem installed on my machine, and I can see some places where I would like to test a fix. If I edit the file, save changes, (needing a password), then restart the server (script/server), it ignores my changes. I am quite new at ruby - do you have to 'compile' or other similar move to get the source code changes made take effect? I can see the edited file is changed by viewing it in terminal, etc.

• How do I manage a Python based daemon on Linux?

  I have a working Python based program that I want to run as a daemon. Currently I'm doing it in a very hackish manner of starting it in with screen-d -m name session and killing it with pkill -f name. Eventually I'm doing to have to move this to the better system we use here (thus I don't want to modify the program) but in the interim, I'm looking for a cleaner way to do this. My current thinking is kick it off as a background task from an inti.d script but how do I bring it back down?

• C#: Resource file refactoring

  Does anyone know of a good tool for refactoring resources in a visual studio 2008 solution? We have a number of resource files with translated text in an assembly used for localizing our application. But they have gotten a bit messy... I would like to rename some of the keys, and move some of them into other resource files. And I would like those changes be done in my code, and the translated versions of the resource files as well. Maybe a some analysis on what strings are missing in the translated versions, and what strings have been removed from the original as well... Does anyone know of a good visual studio extension or ReSharper plugin that can help me with this? Right now it is kind of a pain, because I have to first rename the key in the base resource file, then in the localized versions. And then compile to get all the compile errors resulting from the key which now have a different name, and then go through and fix them all... very annoying =/

  I saw multiple examples in MSDN that uses to declare the internal fields at the end of the class. What is the point? • delphi finalizalization code in a DLL

  I am moving some functions to a shared DLL (I want to have some called as a Windows hook). The actual functions are currently in a unit, and it happens to have some initialization and some finalization code. I was initially thinking on doing a direct transformation from a unit to a library. So I moved the initialization code in between the main begin and end.. But then I realized I had no place to move the finalization code. I should create and register an special DLL entry point, instead. My question is. Can I leave the unit with all the functions and the initialization and finalization codes and just create a library stub that uses the unit? will the finalizationit be called?

• In Xcode, the main controller is hopelessly misconfigured. What are the steps I can take to fix all

  Somehow the main .xib file for my iphone project got deleted. I created a replacement .xib file, but the properties are not setup correctly for the MainWindow to load this one. I don't understand and am hopelessly confused about any of the properties and which ones may or may not be sent. What are the X properties that all need to be set to have this work correctly? I've checked all of these, but there appear to be others: 1) The app delegate for the project is set to the new ControllerUI class. 2) The MainWindow.xib shows the correct .xib file as being loaded from (it has a link in its UI to the .xib file that should be loaded on project run. There appear to be other settings that have to be changed and I can't find them. Is there a way in XCode to recreate the MainWindow.xib file? Should I just create a new project and move all of the other files into it?

I'm looking to float my navigation to the right of its current position around 200px more, there is room but it wont move over.   hey guys, i've a problem with progress dialog on opening an activity (called activity 2 in example). The activity 2 has a lot of code to execute in this OnCreate event. final ProgressDialog myProgressDialog = ProgressDialog.show(MyApp.this,getString(R.string.lstAppWait), getString(R.string.lstAppLoading), true); new Thread() { public void run() { runOnUiThread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { showApps(); } }); myProgressDialog.dismiss(); } }.start(); The showApps function launch activity 2. if i execute this code on my button click event on activity 1, i see the progress, but she doesn't move and afeter i have a black screen during 2 or 3 seconds the time for android to show the activity. If i execute this code in the OnCreate of Activity2 and if i replace the showApps by the code on OnCreate, Activity1 freeze 2 seconds, i don't see the progress dialog, and freeze again 2 seconds on activity 2 before seeing the result. An idea ?

• How To Securly Store Data In MySQL Using AES_ENCRYPT

  We are storing sensitive data in MySQL, and I want to use AES_ENCRYPT(data, 'my-secret-key-here') which works great. My biggest question is how do I secure the key? Previously I just wast storing the key in a web PHP file, so something like: define("ENCRYPTION_KEY", 'my-secret-key-here'); This really doesn't work though, as our MySQL server and web server are the same physical machine, so if somebody gains access to the server, they can get both the encrypted data stored in MySQL and the key. Any ideas? I am thinking I need to move the key to a separate server, and read it in remotely. Or, what about generating the encryption key dynamically for each piece of data. For example taking the customer_id and running md5 on it, and then using that as the key.

• ruby on rails w/ SQLServer

  I've heard from some people that RoR doesn't marry cleanly with SQLServer. We have a series of historical, standardization to use SQLServer but if we can push back with valid reasons we can move to another db. One person on the team wants MySql and another wants Postgres, etc. I'm trying to stay out of the religious wars and really understand what the pain point is with SQLServer. We're running the app server on a linux box, and the database will be on a windows box and the SQLServer that we're supposed to standardize on is 2008, if those details help any... thanks in advance!

  Hi I've got a Java problem. I'm trying split a string when ever a " " occurs, for example the sentence test abc. Then move the first letter in each word from first to last. I got the moving the letter to work on the original string using String text = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null,"Skriv in en normal text:"); char firstLetter = text.charAt(0); normal = text.substring(1,text.length()+0) + firstLetter; So my question is how would I split the string then start moving the letters around in each part of the cut string? • Adding a border (Fixed3D) to an existing borderless application

  Hi there, I have an .NET application that always starts itself with its border style to 'None', as it is supposed to be an full-screen application with a fixed resolution. However, i would like to add the window border (Fixed3D) to this window when the application starts so that I am able to move it around my desktop. My first idea was to have a tray app running, monitoring event messages, and somehow change the window style when this specific application starts. However, I am not sure if this will work and how to do this. Anyone that can point me in the right direction?

• How do I setup Eclipse to stop on the line an exception occured?

  Hi, How can I setup Eclipse to stop at the point an exception occurred. I have an Eclipse breakpoint setup to break on an exception. In the code example below, the problem I'm having is Eclipse tries to open the Integer source code. Is there any way to just have debugger break at the point shown in my code example? If I move down the stack trace, I will get to this line, it'd be nice if there's a way to do this without the "Source not found" window coming up. • Slide Effect happening too many times

  Hello all, I call this functions on onmouseover and onmouseout for several divs. //Takes effect on divs with id, 62,63,64,65... function slide_it(id){ $('#options_'+id).slideToggle('slow'); } The problem is that if I move my mouse over and then mouse out, then again, mouse over and then mouse out. If I do this several times, the slide effect happens the same number of times I moved my mouse over and out of the div, as expected. But I can't figure out how I can do this once? I can set a variable, but I have several divs that this function is used by and I can't think of a simple way of doing this rather than storing things into an array, but this is messy!   I am trying to make a neural network for aproximation of some unkown function (for my neural network course). The problem is that this function has very many variables but many of them are not important (for example in [f(x,y,z) = x+y] z is not important). How could I design (and learn) network for this kind of problem? To be more specific the function is an evaluation function for some board game with unkown rules and I need to somehow learn this rules by experience of the agent. After each move the score is given to the agent so actually it needs to find how to get max score. I tried to pass the neighborhood of the agent to the network but there are too many variables which are not important for the score and agent is finding very local solutions.

• Need help on understanding Mobile First concept

  So, I worked on responsive sites before but I'm on my way to build my first responsive site now. I opened some articles on the subject, and boom: Mobile First.. I have no idea how I skipped that concept till now. From the beginning I cant seem to understand whole thing (except that number of mobile devices will take out soon desktop computers) and here is why. How I'm supposed to know how my site will look for desktop version, if I design it for mobile first? I mean, on the smallest device I will have to eventually hide some content etc, how I'm supposed to know what to hide and move things, when I don't know how the site will look on bigger screen? Isn't stripping the things easier?!?! For me (right now), the Mobile First concept looks to me like building pyramid upside down.

• Easiest way to keep SSRS child elements in the same relative position when the parent is re-positioned?

  I am trying to revise the layout of an SSRS report where I have several textboxes that are child elements of a rectangle. When I reposition the parent rectangle down by x, all of the child textboxes maintain the same absolute position. Their "Location" (defined relative to the parent) decreases by x. I then need to reposition the child textboxes. Additionally, if any of these ever has a negative "Location" then the parent rectangle is then repositioned back up by x. What is the easiest way to move everything in unison? I can Control-click everything and then drag them or use the arrow keys, but I want to position everything with precision and the "Location" field in the Properties window disappears when selecting more than one item. Is there a way I can avoid individually computing and typing in every "Location" value every time I have a small layout change? I am using SSRS (11.0.3360.12) within the Visual Studio 2012 Shell.   i have a database that already has a users table COLUMNS: userID - int loginName - string First - string Last - string i just installed the asp.net membership table. Right now all of my tables are joined into my users table foreign keyed into the "userId" field How do i integrate asp.net_users table into my schema? here are the ideas i thought of: Add a membership_id field to my users table and on new inserts, include that new field in my users table. This seems like the cleanest way as i dont need to break any existing relationships. break all existing relationship and move all of the fields in my user table into the asp.net_users table. This seems like a pain but ultimately will lead to the most simple, normalized solution any thoughts?
