• Using facebook oauth 2.0 - How do I fetch the access token

  Hi all! I am new to oauth and I'm trying to use facebook connect with my web-application. I have succeded in getting a verification token but my problem is "fetching" the access token. How do I fetch it? Facebook documentation tells me to fetch the access token with this URL: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?' + 'client_id=XXXXXXXXXXXX& redirect_uri=http://www.mysite.com/fbconn/index.html&display=touch&' + 'client_secret=axxxxxcxxxxxxxxxxx&code=' + code; When I use this I see the access token on a blank page, but I want to fetch it with javascript (AJAX) /PHP or something. Is this possible? I thought the access token would be appended to my redirect uri like the verfication code but I never get redirected to my page. What am I doing wrong?   script: http://keith-wood.name/countdown.htm daily json response: items: { fajr: '5:23 am', sharooq: '7:23 am', dhur: '1:34 pm', asr: '4:66 pm': magrib: '6:23 pm', isha: '8:01 pm'} when site loads i make ajax request and get the above response times, these are events that happens daily for everyday, but different timing. i want to get that time and put a count down on how many minitues left or hours or seconds and show that and once the seconds are done, then show how many minitues ago that event took place, after 15 minitues later show new even count down. so following on how it will look on display dhur 2 hours left dhur 2 minutes left (if no longer hours left) dhur 55 seconds left (if no longer minutes left) dhur 5 seconds ago (if count down finished and then show how many seconds ago) dhur 9 minutes ago (if extended more then seconds, then show how many minutes ago) asr 1 hour left (after 15 minutes later time changes to new event) this is kind of very simple for pro in javascript and really complicated for me, so need your guys help, if the script im using not good and you prefer some other script for this kind of task, please share with me, it dont have to be jquery script, but helps if its jquery.

• Seamless jQuery Marquee?

  Is it possible to create a 100% seamless marquee in jQuery (or just javascript but jQuery prefered)? I've made a simple marquee that moves left until it is off the screen then simply jumps (when out of view) to the right and starts again. However I would love it to not have the wait. The only way I could think of doing this would be to duplicate the text and put it after the first text, then swap them round again. However I have no idea how to implement this in jQuery. Any ideas?

Actually I have tried to print all the properties of contentWindow of iframe, but it's totally empty. I know the webViewDidFinishLoad may be called several times for each frame load. But I can never get the iframe document. I thought there should be at least once all the iframes are ready. Could someone please tell me how to get the iframe document to process the dom in the uiwebview? Thanks

• jQuery autocomplete disabled makes autocomplete partially transparent, not disabled

  I'm using the jQuery UI's "autocomplete" function on a search on my site. When you change a radio button from 'area search" to "name search" I want it to disable the autocomplete, and re-enable it when you switch back. However, when you disable the autocomplete it doesn't hide the dropdown, it just dims it to 20% opacity or so. • Serving static content from cookie less domain and mod_deflate

  I have two domain. One domain with my main website and the other with js/css/etc.. files, static content. mod_deflate is enabled for both domains, but when i run ySlow in FireFox it says none of my static content is compressed. When i bring back the js or css file to my normal domain it gets compressed right. Only when its served from the other domain is it not compressed. Do i have to do some more configuration for this to work? I am using this line in my .htaccess file AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript text/css text/html text/xml text/plain application/x-httpd-php I tried to but the line in my httpd.conf file but it gives me the same results. PS. If this is more of a serverfault question i am sorry for this. But i see a lot of questions here concerning mod_deflate and ySlow

• Offer the posibility to preview a personalized product

  I want to give my client's the possibility to preview their personalized product. In a nutshell, personalization means the user specifies some text and positions the text somewhere on an image of the product. A great example of what I'd like to achieve is this. Select a frame size and then hit Personalize, after you select the occasion and add the text you can chose to preview the product. The hardest thing to do here, as I see it, is to generate the image. The positioning of text will probably be made in javascript. Do you have any recommendations? Just as a note, using scene7 is not a possibility. Thanks.

• IE GIF/PNG Transparency issue with jQuery

  Ok, this is pretty weird... Here's the page in question: http://s289116086.onlinehome.us/lawjournaltv/index.php The main blue callout background was originally a PNG, but when I applied some jQuery trickery to it (click the numbers in the top right to see what I mean), an ugly white border appeared where the transparency should be. See this screenshot from IE8: http://skitch.com/darkdriving/n62bu/windows-xp-professional I figured I could sacrifice the quality/flexibility of a PNG and just resaved each of the backgrounds as GIFs and set the matte color to white (for now). Well, I was proven wrong because IE is treating the GIF transparency the same as the original PNGs. I've read here that the issue with PNGs, Javascript, and IE has something to do with multiple filters can't be applied to one image, but shouldn't GIFs be exempt from this because they lack the Alpha Channel? Is there any way to make this page look similar in IE to Firefox or Webkit browsers? Thanks in advance!

• UpdatePanel + ToolkitScriptManager work in FF but blows up in IE 6+

  I just upgraded my ASP.NET application from AjaxToolkit version 1.0 to version 3.5. The only code that I had to change as a result of the upgrade was to replace instances of ScriptManager with ToolKitScriptManager. UpdatePanels that used to work flawlessly in both FF and IE6+ now only work in FF. The specific problem in IE is twofold: PostBackTriggers don't perform any PostBack at all (i.e button clicks do nothing) AsyncPostBackTriggers do perform an async PostBack, but outside of a single hidden field (created by the ToolKitScriptManager itself) no ViewState is being sent back to the server for any controls. Needless to say, controls tend to fail in rather spectacular fashion when they can't access their ViewState during a PostBack. :) The only thing I can think of that would account for this only failing in IE6+, is that there is some malformed JavaScript getting piped down that FF is able to work around/ignore but that causes IE to self-destruct Downgrading to the 1.0 version of AjaxToolkit would probably fix this issue, but there are several key features in the 3.5 I need to leverage so this would be painful. I am currently using the InnerFade plugin, which works great for the slideshow part, but I can't figure out how to integrate the navigation; I'm not even sure where to start! :) I'm open to starting over from scratch and not using InnerFade. • Notification when popup is closed using Silverlight's HtmlPage.PopupWindow()

  I am popping up an HTML page from a Silverlight application using the HtmlPage.PopupWindow() method. I am trying to handle the event of when the popup window is closed from within Silverlight. This is how I am attempting to do this: var window = HtmlPage.PopupWindow(new Uri("http://mypopup..."), "popup", options); EventHandler<HtmlEventArgs> windowClosed = (sender, e) => { // would like to refresh the page when popup is closed... HtmlPage.Document.Submit(); }; window.AttachEvent("onUnload", windowClosed); However the event handler never seems to get called. Is this something that is possible or am I missing something? The Silverlight app and the HTML popup page are on the same domain, however they are actually on different ports. I was thinking that maybe the pages being on different ports would be considered a cross-site restriction and cause the JavaScript to fail.

• SimpleModal breaks ASP.Net Postbacks

  I'm using jQuery and SimpleModal in an ASP.Net project to make some nice dialogs for a web app. Unfortunately, any buttons in a modal dialog can no longer execute their postbacks, which is not really acceptable. There is one source I've found with a workaround, but for the life of me I can't get it to work, mostly because I am not fully understanding all of the necessary steps. I also have a workaround, which is to replace the postbacks, but it's ugly and probably not the most reliable. I would really like to make the postbacks work again. Any ideas? UPDATE: I should clarify, the postbacks are not working because the Javascript used to execute the post backs has broken in some way, so nothing happens at all when the button is clicked.

  I have a select drop-down that selects a theme for the current page the user is on: <select id="style" name="acct-stylenum"> <option value="1" selected="true">Light</option> <option value="2">Dark</option> </select> Now what I would like to do is add two divs that will also control this select menu. I would much rather have the user select between two images than a select menu. The divs are as follows: <div class="style-box light"></div> <div class="style-box dark"></div> I would like to use jQuery to make the select menu hidden but still use its input. • Cross-domain jQuery using YQL gives robots.txt error

  On the page http://qxlapps.dk/test.htm I am trying to perform an Ajax load from another domain, qxlapp.dk. I am using James Padolsey's xdomainajax.js plugin from: http://james.padolsey.com/javascript/cross-domain-requests-with-jquery/ When I open my test page, I get no output, but FireBug shows the JSON result, including the error message: "forbidden":"robots.txt for the domain disallows crawling for url: http://qxlapp.dk/projects/dagens_kup/show.php". The robots.txt on the qxlapp.dk domain contains the following: User-agent: Yahoo Pipes 2.0 Allow: / User-agent: * Allow: / So I don't see what the problem is? • JQuery tablesorter - Keeping grouped subheaders together, but still sorted

  Hiya, I'm not really a Javascript programmer, so I'm struggling with this! I'm using the tablesorter plugin along with the Tablegroup plugin, which work very nicely to group the table rows by a parent, and then sort the parents. My problem is though, that I'd also like the child rows to be sorted whilst within the parent group I've done my best to get this working but I'm afraid I've hit a wall. Can anyone suggest a new starter for 10? • Building a blog: what's standard?

  I'm generally pretty new at web stuff. I wanted to build a blog from scratch to get some practice. Few questions: Do most people add new entries of a blog by directly editing the html or is there a more dynamic way of doing this that is used more frequently? I'm assuming you can store the entries in some type of database and then display them via javascript or something similar? What are the most frequently used tools for what I'm describing? I know its about as simple as it gets, but like most things, I just need some tips to get started. Thanks!

• iPhone web apps running as native apps

  The browser on the iPhone is capable of using advanced web technologies introduced in HTML5. One of these is the app cache that allows web pages to run on the client, from the cache, without a connection to the internet. Together with Local Storage you can also save data permanently "in" the page. My question is, would it then be possible to make a website that when visited and set as a web clip (bookmark on the home screen), could be accessed again, at any moment. Using HTML5, Javascript and css, you can make some very good apps and at the same time avoid the pricey developer fee, the harsh app approval and the single platform development platform? Or am I just dreaming?
