• Saving files in cocoa

  Hello, Im sure this is a really easy to answer question but I'm still new to cocoa. I need to save my applications data. The app has 4 text fields and each field needs to be saved into one file. Then when you open the file it needs to know what goes in what field. Im really stuck with this. Also, I do know how to use the save panel. Thanks in advance.

• Reasons for NSManagedObjectMergeError error on [NSManagedObjectContext save:]

  I have a application that combines threading and CoreData. I and using one global NSPersistentStoreCoordinator and a main NSManagedObjectContextModel. I have a process where I have to download 9 files simultaneously, so I created an object to handle the download (each individual download has its own object) and save it to the persistentStoreCoordinator. In the [NSURLConnection connectionDidFinishLoading:] method, I created a new NSManagedObject and attempt to save the data (which will also merge it with the main managedObjectContext). I think that it is failing due to multiple process trying to save to the persistentStoreCoordinator at the same time as the downloads are finishing around the same time. What is the easiest way to eliminate this error and still download the files independently? Thank you!

• UIImagePickerController and extracting EXIF data from existing photos

  It's well known that UIImagePickerController doesn't return the metadata of the photo after selection. However, a couple of apps in the app store (Mobile Fotos, PixelPipe) seem to be able to read the original files and the EXIF data stored within them, enabling the app to extract the geodata from the selected photo. They seem to do this by reading the original file from the /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE/ folder and running it through an EXIF library. However, I can't work out a way of matching a photo returned from the UIImagePickerController to a file on disk. I've explored file sizes, but the original file is a JPEG, whilst the returned image is a raw UIImage, making it impossible to know the file size of the image that was selected. I'm considering making a table of hashes and matching against the first x pixels of each image. This seems a bit over the top though, and probably quite slow. Any suggestions?

I have this set up so that when you click on a Person it publishes another subclassed UITableViewController that uses a NSFetchedController as well to display the Courses associated to the person. PROBLEM: I get this exception whenever I click on the Person and attempt to display the Course UITableViewController ... "Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'keypath name not found in entity <NSSQLEntity Course id=2>'" Any ideas on how to resolve or troubleshoot? The code between the two ViewControllers is almost identical except for the NSFetchedResultsController being configured for "Person" entities in one and "Course" entities in another

  Hi, I'm trying to make a clean url for a blog on a dynamic website, but I think that the problem is that I don't know how to plan the website schema. I read about how to use mod_rewrite and all I found is how to make "http://www.website.com/?category&date&post-title" to "http://www.website.com/category/date/post-title". that's works o.k for me. The problem is that If my url looks like "http://www.website.com/blog/?id=34" this method won't work as far as I got it. So, I have two questions: 1. Is there a way to use mod_rewrite (maybe read from a txt file) to read the post title of my blog and rewrite my url by date and post-title? 2. Should I rewrite my website to query the data from one index file in the homepage and use mod_rewrite to write the nice url? should I query also the date and the title of the post instead just the post ID?

  I'm pulling data from one Excel table into another using an IF statement. I want it to check two fields and if it is a match I want it to print something and if it doesn't then I want it to continue searching. If there is no absolute match then leave the field blank. I believe I'm running into an syntax issue but after numerous iterations I can't get it to pull everything over. • Slow select when inserting large amounts of data (MYSQL)

  I have a process that imports a lot of data (950k rows) using inserts that insert 500 rows at a time. The process generally takes about 12 hours, which isn't too bad. Normally doing a query on the table is pretty quick (under 1 second) as I've put (what I think to be) the proper indexes in place. The problem I'm having is trying to run a query when the import process is running. It is making the query take almost 2 minutes! What can I do to make these two things not compete for resources (or whatever)? I've looked into "insert delayed" but not sure I want to change the table to MyISAM. Thanks for any help!

• Crash when trying to get NSManagedObject from NSFetchedResultsController after 25 objects?

  Hey everyone, I'm relatively new to Core Data on iOS, but I think I've been getting better with it. I've been experiencing a bizarre crash, however, in one of my applications and have not been able to figure it out. I have approximately 40 objects in Core Data, presented in a UITableView. When tapping on a cell, a UIActionSheet appears, presenting the user with a UIActionSheet with options related to the cell that was selected.   Hi: I'm trying to open cmd.exe on a new process and pass some code to programatically eject a device; but when trying to do this all I get is: "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #3218: Error while writing data to NativeProcess.standardInput." • OpenCV: How to copy CvSeq data into CvMat?

  I have a CvSeq structure at hand, which is the output of an available OpenCV function. This holds 128 bytes of data in each of the sequence elements. I want to copy each of these 128-byte elements into rows of a CvMat structure to form a N-by-128 of type CV_32FC1. What would be the most efficient way to do this? I thought of using memcpy but I couldn't come up with a working solution. For the details, I want to calculate the SURF features in an image by cvExtractSURF() function, and copy the SURF descriptors into a matrix for passing it to the cvKMeans2().

  I have a various data.frames with columns of the same length where I am trying to multiple 2 rows together element-wise and then sum this up. What I would like to do is skip the multiplication with any missing values ( the 10th and 11th position from my above example), and then after the addition divide by the number of elements that were multiplied (11 from the above example). Most rows are complete and would just be multiplied by 13. Thank you!

  I have been looking for a way to define an autoincrement data type in Oracle and have found these questions on Stack Overflow: Autoincrement in Oracle Autoincrement Primary key in Oracle database The way to use autoincrement types consists in defining a sequence and a trigger to make insertion transparent, where the insertion trigger looks so: create trigger mytable_trg before insert on mytable for each row when (new.id is null) begin select myseq.nextval into :new.id from dual; end; I have some doubts about the behaviour of this trigger: What does this trigger do when the supplied value of "id" is different from NULL? What does the colon before "new" mean? I want the trigger to insert the new row with the next value of the sequence as ID whatever the supplied value of "new.id" is. I imagine that the WHEN statement makes the trigger to only insert the new row if the supplied ID is NULL (and it will not insert, or will fail, otherwise). Could I just remove the WHEN statement in order for the trigger to always insert using the next value of the sequence?

  Hi, I have a search form on a page that posts back to itself and shows the results, all works fine. I now have a requirement to put the same search form on the site home page. This needs to post back to the search form and run the findResults code. Using the PostBackURL parameter on the home page form's submit button I can hit the search page ok. However, when using the following code in the Page_Load section of the search page I hit the problem of not being able to access data from the posting page as I get the following error message on the line starting "yearList.SelectedValue....": "'Site._default1.Protected WithEvents yearList As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Protected'".   Hi, I have a problem with tptp/profiling within eclipse. Because at first I had some very strange problems, I downloaded the “TPTP all-in-one package” (tptp.runtime.allInOne.win32.win32.x86-TPTP-4.6.2.zip) and added the stuff I need (Jboss-Tools, etc.) I am using Windows XP SP3, Java 6u20, Eclipse 3.5.2.(, jboss-4.2.3.GA-jdk6) In "Profile Configurations"/Tab "Monitor" I got “IWAT0435E An error occurred when connecting to the host” and in the “Profile on Server” Window in the tab Monitor I got only “pre-JRE 1.5“ as choice. After disabling an enabling the IAC in “Preferences”/”Agent Controller” that IWAT...-problem was gone but now I don't get anything in the “Profile on Server”/”Monitor” tab, but it says “[Monitor] The launch requires at least one data collector to be selected.” any ideas?

  Hi, I have to make a log server in java, and one task is to send the data compressed. Now I am sending it line by line in plain text, but I must compress it. The server handle "HTTP like" request. For example, I can get a log sending "GET xxx.log". This will entablish a TCP connection to the server, the server response with a header and the log, and close the connection. The client, reads line by line and analyzes each LOG entry. I tried some ways without success. My main problem is that I don't know where each line ends(in the client size). Any idea?

• iPhone: Switching from a map screen to a battle screen without the map progress being reset

  Hello! I'm trying to make a role-playing game, and I want the game to work so that it transitions to the battle NIB for battles, then returns back to the map NIB afterward, yet still retain all the progress the player has made exploring the dungeon. I've tried proto-typing this with just a view-switcher, where one view creates content, and then switches to the other view, and then coming back from the other view. However, once the view goes back to the original, the original view is reset. How to make the data persistent so that it doesn't reset after every "battle"? Thanks!
