    Without telling everyone too much about my new idea for a website, Pretty much I need help, maybe someone can help write it up, with a site that has a simple map that allows any user to double click the map and make a marker.     I'm trying to query a database, and return a set of values. Part of the data i'm trying to return is an insurance premium breakdown. Is it possible to run a query, that selects multiple fields, then adds then and returns them as a single value? I've seen SUM() but the examples i've seen show it as adding up the results of an entire field - where as i need it to add specific fields for each row returned. Any help is much appreciated.

  • connecting to a network using route command

    I have a computer with an external IP(192.168.223.220) and also an internal address (10.1.1.20) in order to connect to some servers that don't have external addresses only 10.1.1.xx . in order to connect to these servers from other machines I used the following command "route ADD 10.1.1.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 192.168.223.220" and than I was able to connect to the servers using there 10.1.1.xx address. The problem is that the hard disk of main server(192.168.223.220) died and was replaced and after the that I am not able to connect to the servers as before, the route command succeeds and I can ping 10.1.1.20 but not the other servers.     I am using DynamicData in the version that shipped with VS2008. In the default List view, the data is sorted by order of entry into the database. I'd like to get it sorted by a field of a specific name (descending). As a last resort I tried to use the OrderByParameter of the LinqDataSource with a QueryStringParameter, but I could not get it to sort anything. =) Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

Once I read an MSDN article that encouraged the following programming paradigm: public class MyClass { public void Method1() { NewCustomException(); } public void Method2() { NewCustomException(); } void NewCustomException() { throw new CustomException("Exception message"); } } Do you think this paradigm makes sense? Wouldn't it be enough to store the exception message in a static const field and then pass it to the exception's constructor, instead of encapsulating the whole exception throw?
