• animating adding/removing layers on iPhone

  On the iPhone, when you add a sub layer to a visible view's layer, using either -addSublayer: or -removeFromSuperlayer, shouldn't that sub layer appear or disappear in an animated manner (ie. fade in or fade out gradually)? My program animates using layers (not views). When I change a property of a layer like position or image content, then the change does animate (layer streaks around it's parent layer, the layer fades from the old image to the new image), so I obviously have the layers & view setup correctly. However, when I add or remove a sub layer, the change occurs instantly; there is no animation. Reading the references, it says that if the layer is visible, the sub layer should animate when adder or removed. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone had a similar problem, and was able to find a solution? Thank you, Steve Sheets

  I am working in an android application and I want to Clear my Bitmap data. The scenario is that I am taking a screen capture of an Widget(Imageview) and I am storing it in a Bitmap. This action comes in a Button click. SO after some time I get a Memory error. So I want to clear the values in the bitmap.   Although I try to distance myself from web-oriented work nowadays (unless I need the money) I've received a number of emails from clients wishing for me to help design and develop online solutions for adult websites. Hell, when I was 17 I was asked to help design an adult website that I would not legally be able to view. After talking to a few Software Engineers and Flash Developers I have heard that there is a lot of interesting work in the adult industry for those who like to work with new technologies. Have any of you worked for a company dealing with adult/pornographic content? Did you enjoy it? If you haven't would you ever consider it? More than anything I find it interesting to see how others would view the offer, whether you would be afraid to list it on a CV/Resume, how interesting the work would be, how you think future employees would see you and whether you believe that they would judge you for working in a dirty industry.

• MVC partial page update

  Hello, I have an MVC project where I have a form with fields a user can enter and save. On that same page I have a table which shows a brief listing of information that the user just saved. The problem I am having is trying to update only the table after a save and not an entire page refresh. Is this possible in jquery or MVC? If so does anyone have an example. • Assign the results of a stored procedure into a variable in another stored procedure

  The title of this question is a bit misleading, but I couldn't summarize this very well. I have two stored procedures. The first stored procedure (s_proc1) calls a second stored procedure (s_proc2). I want to assign the value returned from s_proc2 to a variable in s_proc1. Currently, I'm calling s_proc2 (inside s_proc1) in this manner: EXEC s_proc2 @SiteID, @count = @PagingCount OUTPUT s_proc2 contains a dynamic query statement (for reasons I will not outline here). CREATE dbo.s_proc2 ( @siteID int, @count int OUTPUT ) AS DECLARE @sSQL nvarchar(100) DECLARE @xCount int SELECT @sSQL = 'SELECT COUNT(ID) FROM Authors' EXEC sp_ExecuteSQL @sSQL, N'@xCount int output', @xCount output SET @count = @xCount RETURN @count Will this result in @PagingCount having the value of @count? I ask because the result I am getting from s_proc1 is wonky. In fact, what I do get is two results. The first being @count, then the result of s_proc1 (which is incorrect).   Hello everyone, I would like to know if there is a way to change the text in the [More ...] tab. With the code below I am able to change the text in the view, however the text in the tab remains the same. Is there a way to access it and change it's appearance. tabBarController.moreNavigationController.topViewController.navigationItem.title = NSLocalizedString(@"Meer", ""); My second question is about the [Edit] button in the More view. • How can keep track of the index path of a button in a tableview cell?

  I have a table view where each cell has a button accessory view. The table is managed by a fatchedresults controller and is frequently reordered. I want to be able to press a button and be able to obtain the index path of the pressed button's tableviewcell. I've been trying to get this working for days by storing the row of the button in it's tag, but when the table get's reordered the row becomes incorrect and I keep failing at reordering the tags correctly when a change is made. Any new ideas on how to keep track of the button's cell's index path? Thanks so much for any help.

  Hi, I'm using a UINavController together with some UITableViews to display a kind of drill down for some data (e.g. like the Contact App). Works well. The only problem I have is, when I select a cell in the first table view it is highlighted, then the view switches to the next level and then, if I go back to the first level, the cell is still highlighted.   I have created a table in my Ruby on Rails application that I am building called Tags. It is a blog application so I allow the user to associate tags with a post and do this through a :posts, :has_many = tags and Tag belongs_to :post association. Now that I have my Tags table I am trying to see how I would render the view such that it displays the tag and tag count. (it should be noted that I am trying to render this in the /views/posts/index.html.erb file). For instance, if there are 10 entries in the Tag table for tag_name Sports. How can I display Sports (10) in the view. I am not looking to do this for a specific tag but rather, somehow search the table, combine like tags and display a list of all tags with counts next to them. (I really want these to be a link to a list of posts that contain that tag but I learned early on only to ask one question at a time). Hope that makes sense.

  I am trying to script a web page using GreaseMonkey. (I am using Firebug for help in development.) The page has a small amount of JavaScript code, but that code pulls in other JS files from the site. Are the entire collection of JS files stored somewhere on the client side (i.e. on the filesystem somewhere) so that I can view them? Or better yet, is there a way I can view them in Firebug?   Hello, I'm building a custom RSS reader app with incorporated feed link view (UIWebView). Using the following code, when the view, containing WebUIView is loaded, it takes about 6 seconds before anything is outputted to the user: -(void)viewDidLoad{ [super viewDidLoad]; NSString *urlString = [[[self appDelegate] currentlySelectedBlogItem]linkUrl]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [_webview loadRequest:requestObj]; [_webview setScalesPageToFit:YES]; } Any ideas why UIWebView is being so slow? • IE sending through multiple unrequested requests for parent URL

  We have a rather large/complex web site (so it's not easy to extract portions of it). The problem we're having is that IE6/7/8 (but 6 is the worst) are sending through multiple requests for the parent of a URL (which fails, a different point). As an example, if you visited (dummy domain name obviously): http://www.example.com/view/event/123/456/78 We'd get 8-20 requests for: http://www.example.com/view/event/123/456/ appear in the Apache log. We've tried: Disabling all plugins (including toolbars, Flash, etc) Disabling scripting (e.g. Javascript) And it still sends through at least one erroneous request. We've viewed the requests through ieHttpHeaders so the browser is aware of them (i.e. it's not prefetching by the network's proxy). Any ideas? What can else could cause this?
