• install linux guest on windows host using a .iso file on vmserver 2.0

  I have done this in vmserver 1.0. I set the Cd to point to the .iso file. Then I start the vm and it starts to install. I am on the summary screen. I have created a VM. I go to CD/DVD - edit I change the radio button to Host Medio Then I select ISO Image and Browse. Here is the problem: Then in my browser I get Inventory - Virtual Machine (directory) I don't know where that directory is. I have my ISO's in a folder on my desktop. I can't browse to my desktop. When I try to just put in a path such as c:\mydesktop\mylinuxdirectory\linux1.iso The following problems have been found:OKThe ISO Image File Path must be a valid file path in the format: "[datastore] /path/to/isoimage.iso". so how do I browse to an ISO? I can add the iso after I start the VM, but by then its too late and the VM says no Operating System installed.

• Compile C++ file as objective-c++ using makefile

  I'm trying to compile .cpp files as objective-c++ using makefile as few of my cpp file have objective code. I added -x objective-c++ as complier option and started getting stray /327 in program error( and lots of similar error with different numbers after /). The errors are around 200. But when I change the encoding of the file from unicode-8 to 16 the error reduces to 23. currently there is no objective-c++ code in the .cpp file but plan to add in future. When i remove -x objective-c++ from complier option ,everything complies fine. and .out is generated. • controlling which project header file Xcode will include

  My Xcode project builds to variations of the same product using two targets. The difference between the two is only on which version of an included library is used. For the .c source files it's easy to assign the correct version to the correct target using the target check box. However, including the header file always includes the same one. This is correct for one target, but wrong for the other one. Is there a way to control which header file is included by each target? Here is my project file hierarchy (which is replicated in Xcode): MyProject TheirOldLib theirLib.h theirLib.cpp TheirNewLib theirLib.h theirLib.cpp myCode.cpp and myCode.cpp does thing such as: #include "theirLib.h" … somecode() { #if OLDVERSION theirOldLibCall(…); #else theirNewLibCall(…); #endif } And of course, I define OLDVERSION for one target and not for the other. So is there a way to tell Xcode which theirLib.h to include per target? Constraints: - the two header files have the same name. As a last resort, I could rename one of them, but I'd rather avoid that as this will lead to major hair pulling on the other platforms. - I'm free to tweak my project as I otherwise see fit Thanks for any help.

  I need a sensible way to draw arbitrary text files into a C# program, and produce an arbitrary anonymous type object, or perhaps a composite dictionary of some sort. I have a representative text file that looks like this: adapter 1: LPe11002 Factory IEEE: 10000000 C97A83FC Non-Volatile WWPN: 10000000 C93D6A8A , WWNN: 20000000 C93D6A8A adapter 2: LPe11002 Factory IEEE: 10000000 C97A83FD Non-Volatile WWPN: 10000000 C93D6A8B , WWNN: 20000000 C93D6A8B Is there a way to get this information into an anonymous type object or some similar structure? The final anonymous type might look something like this, if it were composed in C# by hand: new { adapter1 = new { FactoryIEEE = "10000000 C97A83FC", Non-VolatileWWPN = "10000000 C93D6A8A", WWNN = "20000000 C93D6A8A" } adapter2 = new { FactoryIEEE = "10000000 C97A83FD", Non-VolatileWWPN = "10000000 C93D6A8B", WWNN = "20000000 C93D6A8B" } } Note that, as the text file's content is arbitrary (i.e. the keys could be anything), a specialized solution (e.g. that looks for names like "FactoryIEEE") won't work. I am referencing the 'log4net.dll' correctly, and by debugging the application i can see that the log object is getting initiated properly. This is a asp.net 3.5 framework web project. Any ideas/suggestions? I thought originally this error may be due to a file write permission constraint, but that doesn't seem to be the case (or so I think).

  Hello, I'm trying to put an animated PNG dinamicaly from external .js file. First I found a simple animated png solution, which draws an animation wherever you put the code within tags, but now it looks like I don't know how to call the function properly from external file. • Can't place a breakpoint in asp.net master page file

  I have an MVC web application. I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error in line 16 below. It's a master page file. When I try to place a breakpoint in that line or anywhere in the file, I get a "this is not a valid location for a breakpoint" error. I have clicked on every line and I can't place a single breakpoint. I do have lines which have code only. How do I place a breakpoint in this file? Note: I can place breakpoints in code files. In some other aspx files, I can place a breakpoint in some code lines and some not. Does the inline code have to be in a special format to place a breakpoint? Using VS 2010 in Windows 7 64bit.   Hi, I'm trying to write a bash script that "wraps" whatever the user wants to invoke (and its parameters) sourcing a fixed file just before actually invoking it. To clarify: I have a "ConfigureMyEnvironment.bash" script that must be sourced before starting certain executables, so I'd like to have a "LaunchInMyEnvironment.bash" script that you can use as in: LaunchInMyEnvironment <whatever_executable_i_want_to_wrap> arg0 arg1 arg2 I tried the following LaunchInMyEnvironment.bash: #!/usr/bin/bash launchee="$@" if [ -e ConfigureMyEnvironment.bash ]; then source ConfigureMyEnvironment.bash; fi exec "$launchee" where I have to use the "launchee" variable to save the $@ var because after executing source, $@ becomes empty.   Hey gang, Bear with me as I try to learn more about .htaccess redirect rules - I'm a UI guy by profession and I'm doing my best to enhance my coding skills languages other than HTML/CSS/PHP, etc So, what I have is an index.php file that contains a menu - pretty simple. If Javascript is enabled on the users computer then forms are shown below the menu using simple jQuery goodies, with each link having a 'return false;' applied. What I am trying to do is make the page accessible with JS turned off, so instead of redirecting the user to a different page, I would like to use POST or GET variables from each link, to show the various forms.. within the same index.php file - but have the URL reflect the menu choice Here is an example using menu items named - Home, About, Form1 and Form2: With JS on, clicking on of the above example buttons simply slides the form or containing the data down onto the page. With JS off, if the user clicks the 'About' link, I would like to rewrite the URL to be http://domain.com/about - but keep the user on the index.php page (since it is the only page) and be able to use POST or GET variable to show the using PHP. So, accessing http://domain.com/index.php?page=about would show http://domain.com/about in the URL but pass the GET variable 'page' to the index.php file. Hope that makes sense.. and I'm sure there are many ways to accomplish this, so if you have ideas of how to improve on it, by all means, I'd love to hear it ! Thanks again Revive

• How to access application.xml file of an EAR deployed to IBM WebSphere 6.1

  I am deploying an EAR file to the IBM WebSpehre server 6.1 - I want to be able to access the EAR application name which is stored in the deployment file under 'display-name'. Looking through stack overflow posts on related subjects, I've been able to gather that this is possible via the Java MBean API - or IBM's WAS API - Problem is I cannot find a place where these API lists are summarized, i.e. cannot figure out which one to begin looking at. I could hardcode the WAS install location and find the file by looking in the 'installedApps' directory, but this is not dynamic. Does anyone have any experience working with these APIs? Any other way to dynamically find the deployed EAR's display name? EDIT - I should add that the reason I would like this information is to dynamically load our properties files - that are named by the following convention "EARAppName.properties" - so you see there IS a reasonable 'rationale' behind desiring this information in my application EDIT 2 - I should also note that this app will always be deployed on a WAS - but in the case that it isnt, a generic non-proprietary solution would be preferred, but not necessary at this moment. EDIT 3 - What I want to accomplish: Is there a way to dynamically find the deployed EAR's display name from within the application code?

  I have a CSV file that I'm working with, and all the fields are comma separated. But some of the fields themselves, contain commas. When the user choose open, outlook sometimes gives the error "The file [].ics" is not a valid internet Calender file"? It is always the same event that is written to the response. • WiX: Define made in included file not avaible from wxs-fragment-file.

  I have a defines.wxi-file which contains some good definitions used in all my wxs-files. When I attempt to reference the defined value from one of the <Fragment>-files I get Undefined preprocessor variable '$(var.IMAGE_FOLDER)' back in my face. I guess there is something trivial I am missing here... Any ideas? Edit 19:th April. Found that issue only occurs if reference from a Fragment-file. • C# - File Encoding Problem.

  Hello, I'm have a StringBuilder that is writing content to a file. Towards the end of each file, I'm writing the copyright symbol. Oddly, I have noticed that whenever the copyright symbol is written, it is preceeded by a "Â". My code that generates the content of the file looks like this: using (StringWriter stringWriter = new StringWriter()) { stringWriter = GetFileContent(); string targetPath = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["TargetPath"]; using (StreamWriter streamWriter = new StreamWriter(targetPath, false)) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(stringWriter.ToString()); // Attempted fix string content = sb.ToString(); content = content.Replace("Â", ""); streamWriter.Write(content); } } As you can tell, I tried to do a find-and-replace. In the process, I noticed that a "Â" was not in the content itself. This makes me believe there is something occurring in the streamWriter. However, I'm not sure what it could be. Can someone please tell me why a "Â" would be popping up before the "©" symbol and how to fix it? I believe it has something to do with encoding, but I'm not sure Thank you!

• Reading a .dat file as "rb" read binary

  I have a web-accessible php script that accesses a folder above the webroot (not web accessible) called \folder\. This is done via setting the path to \folder\ in .htaccess the usual way so that \folder\ becomes part of the project. \folder\ contains a .php script (communicates with the web-accessible script inside the webroot) some .inc files (used by the .php in the same folder, above the webroot) a dat file (used by the .inc in the same folder, above the webroot) All files are accessible to each other as needed: the web-accessible php inside the webroot can communicate with the php above the webroot the php above the webroot can communicate with the inc in the same folder But the inc above the webroot can't communicate with the dat in the same folder, and I have no idea why that's the case The inc myinc.inc is supposed to open the dat mydat.dat in the same folder like this fopen('mydat.dat', "rb"); but I get an error that no file called mydat.dat exists inside \folder\myinc.inc. Of course it does not, the .dat is sibling to .inc and is not supposed to be inside it. Why is php expecting to find the .dat file inside the .inc. The stranger thing is that if I move the .dat in the web-accessible folder, it becomes readable now. Any ideas why php is trying to find the .dat inside the .inc?

  I'm trying to transfer a file over a IHttpHandler, the code is pretty simple. However when i start a single transfer it uses about 20% of the CPU. If i were to scale this to 20 simultaneous transfers the CPU is very high. • Reading a large file into Perl array of arrays and manipulating the output for different purposes

  Hello, I am relatively new to Perl and have only used it for converting small files into different formats and feeding data between programs. Now, I need to step it up a little. I have a file of DNA data that is 5,905 lines long, with 32 fields per line. The fields are not delimited by anything and vary in length within the line, but each field is the same size on all 5905 lines. I need each line fed into a separate array from the file, and each field within the line stored as its own variable. I am having no problems storing one line, but I am having difficulties storing each line successively through the entire file. This is how I separate the first line of the full array into individual variables: my $SampleID = substr("@HorseArray", 0, 7); my $PopulationID = substr("@HorseArray", 9, 4); my $Allele1A = substr("@HorseArray", 14, 3); my $Allele1B = substr("@HorseArray", 17, 3); my $Allele2A = substr("@HorseArray", 21, 3); my $Allele2B = substr("@HorseArray", 24, 3); ...etc. My issues are: 1) I need to store each of the 5905 lines as a separate array. 2) I need to be able to reference each line based on the sample ID, or a group of lines based on population ID and sort them. I can sort and manipulate the data fine once it is defined in variables, I am just having trouble constructing a multidimensional array with each of these fields so I can reference each line at will. Any help or direction is much appreciated. I've poured over the Q&A sections on here, but have not found the answer to my questions yet. Thanks!! -Brian

• IIS 7.5 can't access file from managed code

  I am working on a project that is click-once deployed from an IIS 7.5 web server. After installing the parent application (i.e. setting up the IIS site) I am able to hit the url for the click-once app's config file from a remote box. HOWEVER, when I attempt to do the same thing from my app (and the stub app below), I get a 401 Unauthorized. What is the difference between hitting the URL from IE, and from a .NET app? The file and directory itself have full control granted to everyone on the webserver at the moment, and I am an admin on the box. We are using Windows Authentication with NTLM only.
