    In one column I have a bitstring encoded as a string type. In a different column I wish to have the same bits (potentially starting with a leading 0), but as a binary value type. Ultimately, I want to have it in hex representation (string or hex type, doesn't matter) in a third column. How is this done? Do I have to program something for it or is there a faster way?   • Do any Windows IM clients support Adium styles?

    I know I can't actually get Adium on Windows. Are there any Windows IM clients that at least support Adium styles, specifically Contact List Styles and Message Styles? Pidgin is heart-breakingly close, but as far as I can tell, it's not there yet: Pidgin-WebKit would be perfect, except it doesn't seem to compile on Windows. adium2pidgin-themes converts Adium Xtras into Pidgin themes, but only supports sound, status, and emoticon theme types: -t TYPE, --type=TYPE type of theme, may be: auto, sound, status or emoticon, default: auto The Pidgin project is considering merging Pidgin-WebKit into Pidgin itself, but that sounds like a long way off: Most notably, we've been talking about merging the webkit integration branch into what will become 3.0.0. Eventually, this would allow the support of Adium's message styles, although it may not happen right away. So, are there any Windows IM clients that support Adium styles today?

    I have this weird issue on my Mac OS X 10.7.5 /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/include/python2.7/Python.h:33:10: fatal error: 'stdio.h' file not found What caused the above error? This error has been bugging me and i can't install mysql-python as i'm stuck with this step. I'm using Python 2.7.3. Things like Google App Engine ( python ), python script, tornado generally works on my mac. But not mysql-python. I've install MySQL using the dmg image and have copied the mysql folder to /usr/local/ How do i fix this? ======UPDATE====== I've ran the command, and tried to install mysql-python by running sudo python setup.py install.     I've scoured the Internet in search of an answer to this question, and as usual with OSX-related topics, I often don't find any deep-dive technical explanations sufficient enough to feel confident doing dangerous things. Here is my question: I have a Mac Pro, running OSX 10.6.2. I have, as my main root/boot disk, a RAID 1 volume called "Mirror1". Mirror1 is comprised of two 1 TB disks. Mirror1, however, is fixed at 640 GB. That's because, I originally took a 640GB disk, bought a terabyte disk, mirrored it (using diskutil appleraid enable...), when it synced I removed the 640GB and replaced it with a second 1 TB disk, and synced again. Voila! A single 640 GB replaced by two 1 TB disks in a mirror.. Actually, no. There's still something missing from the equation: Mirror1 needs to be expanded from 640GB to 1 TB to match the partition sizes on each of those disks. How do I do this?     I have the custom image captured. Import the image and files. Prepare the customsettings.ini and the boot.ini to minimize the questions the deployment team will need to answer. Everything works like a charm on virtual machines but when I map to the scripts folder on the deployment share and double-click litetouch.vbs it creates the c:\minint folder, subfolders, and a couple of log files then nothing. I just started up a new server and was setting up OpenSSH to use key-based SSH logins, but I've run into quite a dilemma. All the guides are relatively similar, and I was following them closely (despite having done this once before). I triple checked my work to see if I would notice some obvious screw up - but nothing is apparent. As far as I can tell, I haven't done anything wrong (and I've checked very closely).   • SQLRelay MySQL compatibility layer in php-cgi.

    I am investigating the use of sqlrelay as a middle-layer between an application that uses MySQL with a PostgreSQL backend. I assume that this is something that it can do to ease backend migration. But for the moment, I am just experimenting with a MySQL application accessing a MySQL backend through the sqlrelay layer. app => sqlrelay lib => mysql client lib => tcp => mysql server I followed the instructions for the MySQL drop-in replacement and it works. I can connect to the backend MySQL server using both sqlrsh and mysql client application. It will work for most MySQL applications by using LD_PRELOAD with the compatibility layer library. The instructions recommend re-compiling php to support it. I would prefer not doing something so drastic. They also recommend setting the LD_PRELOAD for apachectl as a method for the apache/php stack. However, this does not work with lighttpd/php-cgi. I have wrapped php-cgi with a shell script that sets LD_PRELOAD before running the cgi script. LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libmysql50sqlrelay-0.39.4.so.1 /usr/bin/php5-cgi $@ I can see LD_PRELOAD correctly set in phpinfo() but the cgi scripts all fail and are unable to connect to the database. According to the mysql client, the compatibility library should report itself as a 5.0.0 client but the phpinfo module reports itself as the actual 5.0.51a client library used. This means that the compatibility library was not used. Is there someone who has had some success doing something similar?

  • Messed up USB stick doesn't show in blkid

    I was playing around with a USB stick (booting archlinux with qemu off of it and trying to perform an installation on the same stick at the same time -- brave, I know, but I was just messing around). Now, after failing to boot and install at the same time, it seems I have sort of messed up my stick. What I think happened is that I used cfdisk to wipe everything on it and create one big partition, but formatting it then failed, so now there's a big partition with no filesystem. Just to make it clear: I'm not worried for my stick, I know I can recover it at any point. What I find intriguing is that after plugging the stick into my computer (using Ubuntu), there's no (terminal) way to find out what block device (/dev/sdx) it has associated. The only way I could determine that was with GParted: But blkid shows the following: /dev/sda1: UUID="12F695CFF695B387" LABEL="System Reserved" TYPE="ntfs" /dev/sda2: UUID="A0BAA6EABAA6BC62" TYPE="ntfs" /dev/sdb1: UUID="546aec8b-9ad6-4571-b07a-adba63e25820" TYPE="ext4" /dev/sdb2: UUID="2a8b82d8-6c6e-4053-a446-bab970d93d7c" TYPE="swap" /dev/sdb3: UUID="7cbede7d-c930-4e59-9d1b-01f2d79bd092" TYPE="ext4" No trace of /dev/sdc. My question is: if I didn't have a graphical interface (to use GParted), how would I have known which block device is my stick?

    Lately I had to reinstall my development site on my ubuntu machine since my system crashed after an os update. 4 days later my site is still not running as it should. The system is running RHEL 5.3 Beta.   • How to make BASH try and autocomplete on Enter

    I've noticed that for many of the commands I use in bash I have actually learned how many letters of the command I must type before I can press [TAB] to have bash successfully autocomplete the command. For example when opening chromium I dont usually type the whole command but instead type $ chrom[TAB][ENTER] and bash successfully autocompletes the command to chromium before I hit the [ENTER] key. Is there a way to make autocomplete work without having to hit [TAB]? My general thinking is that if I type $ chrom[ENTER] bash could check and see that chrom isnt a valid command, but it would make sense to autocomplete it to chromium since that is the only command that starts with chrom

  • Break all hardlinks within a folder

    I have a folder which contains a certain number of files which have hard links (in the same folder or somewhere else), and I want to de-hardlink these files, so they become independant, and changes to their contents won't affect any other file (their link count becomes 1). Below, I give a solution which basically copies each hard link to another location, then move it back in place. However this method seems rather crude and error-prone, so I'd like to know if there is some command which will de-hardlink a file for me. Crude answer : Find files which have hard links (Edit: To also find sockets, etc. that have hardlinks, use find -not -type d -links +1) : find -type f -links +1 A crude method to de-hardlink a file (copy it to another location, and move it back) : Edit: As Celada said, it's best to do a cp -p below, to avoid loosing timestamps and permissions.
