  • How do I add Objective C code to a FireBreath Project?

    I am writing a browser plugin for Mac OS that will place a status bar icon in the status bar, which users can use to interface with the browser plugin. I've successfully built a FireBreath 1.6 project in XCode 4.4.1, and can install it in the browser. However, FireBreath uses C++, whereas a large majority of the existing libraries for Mac OS are written in Objective C. In the /Mac/projectDef.make file, I added the Cocoa Framework and Foundation Framework, as suggested here and in other resources I've found on the Internet: target_link_libraries(${PROJECT_NAME} ${PLUGIN_INTERNAL_DEPS} ${Cocoa.framework} # added line ${Foundation.framework} # added line ) I reran prepmac.sh, expecting a new project to be created in XCode with my .mm files, and .m files; however, it seems that they're being ignored. I only see the .cpp and .h files. I added rules for those in the projectDef.make file, but it doesn't seem to make a difference: file (GLOB PLATFORM RELATIVE ${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR} Mac/[^.]*.cpp Mac/[^.]*.h Mac/[^.]*.m #added by me Mac/[^.]*.mm #added by me Mac/[^.]*.cmake ) Even if I add the files in manually, I get a series of compilation errors. There are about 20 of them, all related to the file NSObjRuntime.h file: Parse Issue - Expected unqualified-id Parse Issue - Unknown type name 'NSString' Semantic Issue - Use of undeclared identifier 'NSString' Parse Issue - Unknown type name 'NSString' ... ... Semantic Issue - Use of undeclared identifier 'aSelectorName' ... ... Semantic Issue - Use of undeclared identifier 'aClassName' ... It continues like this for some time with similar errors... From what I've read, these errors appear because of dependencies on the Foundation Framework, which I believe I've included in the project. I also tried clicking the project in XCode I'm to the point now where I'm not sure what to try next. People say it's not hard to use Objective C in C/C++ code, but being new to XCode and Objective C might contribute to my confusion. This is only day 4 for me in this new platform. What do I need to do to get XCode to compile the Objective C code? Please remember that I'm a little new to this, so I'd appreciate it if you leave detailed answers as opposed to the vague one-liners that are common in the firebreath tag. I'm just a little in over my head, but if you can get me past this hurdle I'm certain I'll be good to go from there. UPDATE: I edited projects/MyPlugin/CMakeLists.txt and added in the .m and .mm rules there too. after running prepmac.sh, the files are included in the project, but I still get the same compile errors. I moved all the .h files and .mm files from the Obj C code to the MyPlugin root folder and reran the prepmac.sh file. Problem still exists. Same compile errors.

  • How can I see who in my team are writing the most code and who is writing the least using TFS?

    I am having a problem with one of my team members output. He seems to be always 'busy' yet I am unable to see exactly what code he has done and he seems be delivering very little and it seems to take a long time to do so. I'd like to investigate further using TFS and was wondering if there is any functionality in TFS that shows what has been written by an individual or similar? Just to clarify I am NOT spying I am trying to resolve situation. This is only a starting point. I un derstand that quantity of code does not equate to best programmer thanks for any answers

  • How to simplify my code... 2D NSArray in Objective C...?

    self.myArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [self d], [self generateMySecretObject],nil], [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [self generateMySecretObject], [self generateMySecretObject],nil],nil]; for (int k=0; k<[self.myArray count]; k++) { for(int s = 0; s<[[self.myArray objectAtIndex:k] count]; s++){ [[[self.myArray objectAtIndex:k] objectAtIndex:s] setAttribute:[self generateSecertAttribute]]; } } As you can see this is a simple 2*2 array, but it takes me lots of code to assign the NSArray in very first place, because I found that the NSArray can't assign the size at very beginning. Also, I want to set attribute one by one. I can't think of if my array change to 10*10. How long it could be. So, I hope you guys can give me some suggestions on shorten the code, and more readable. thz

    Is search and replace the only way to rename as asp control in the code behind file? I find this extremely annoying, but it is the only way I can find. Scenario: I'll find a variable that needs renaming (Usually to meet naming convention) I'll rename the variable in the aspx/ascx file. I'll have to go in the code behind files and search and replace. I get annoyed Are there any better ways - preferably that would not touch a similarly named variable in another scope in the project. I'm on VS2008 with resharper -- does VS2010 address this perhaps?

  • Can't access shared folder of win8/win7 machine - Error code: 0x80004005. Unspecified Error

    It's ironic that I, software engineer with 12 years of experience, continue to have this problem from one version of Windows to another without being able to achive consistent result (sometimes it works). Here it goes again. I have a machine with Win8 Consumer Preview. It doesn't really matter that it's win8. I had same issue with win7 before. On given machine I created local admin user with same name and password I have on second PC (the machine I'm typing this from now). I have two questions to you guys. Why I'm not able to access C$ share of win8 machine from another Win7 machine? I get error that C$ doesn't exist even though it does. Why I'm not able to access share named "test" in Win8 for which Permission set to Full for Everyone. When I attempt to access it from Win7 machine I'm asked to enter username and password. After entering administrator credentials I get error "Windows cannot access \192.168.1.123\test. Error code: 0x80004005. Unspecified Error". Windows Firewall is disabled on Win8 machine for both Private and Public networks. Guest account is disabled. Built-in admin account is enabled. Machine is pingable from other machines.

  • Where is the best place to run initialization code for a UITabBarController?

    I have a UITabBarController in my application. I have to perform some customization to the NIB file using code the first time a view embedded in that UITabBarController gets loaded. When applicationDidFinishLaunching occurs, the UITabBarController's views apparently are not loaded -- if I try to modify the view controllers inside a tab bar that the tab bar is to load in applicationDidFinishLaunching, then those changes are ignored. I'm assuming this is because the tab bar didn't finish loading yet. So, I need a good place to put code that will run immediately after a tabbar is fully ready -- i.e. after it has loaded all the views from their respective nib files. I'm finding the only place I can do this is to track the first time viewDidAppear on each individual view controller. Note I can't use viewWillAppear because I need the value of tabBarController.selectedIndex to be accurate, and it is only actually updated after viewDidAppear gets fired, not when viewWillAppear gets fired.

    Hi, I have the following code in my application: $(".deleteproduct").click(function() { id = this.id; alert("id: " + id); }); If i run my site nothing happens when I click on an element with the class deleteproduct. But when I place breakpoints before line 1,2 and 3 it works like a charm. The elements with class deleteproduct are loaded through AJAX call right behind $(document).ready(function(). The .click code is underneath it. This seems really weird to me. It's working if breakpoints in Firebug are used, but not when there are not...

  • Google 2-step verification: Should my phone know my password? [closed]

    Hi, Just enabled 2-step verification for my Google account. I have installed Google Authenticator on my Android phone, and I set up an application specific password for the Google account associated on my phone. This works great when just using installed apps like Gmail, Calendar and Google Reader. But if I want to access Google Docs, Google Tasks or any other website that requires a Google login, I don't seem to be able to use a application specific password. I have to use my real password and then use Google Authenticator to make a code for the next step. This means if my phone is stolen, revoking the password to my phone is pointless. The phone have already been verified, and all that is needed is my password, which the phones browser will have remembered. I realize that I can take measures to ensure the phones browser doesn't remember my password, but that's just not convenient at all. Am I missing something, or is there no elegant solution to this? Should I just let my phone know my real password? As I see it, being able to login with application specific passwords on websites (which apparently isn't possible) is the only way I can revoke my phones access in a meaningful way.

    Hi, is it possible to capture a click event on a scrollbar? I have some code where i am observing the click and mousedown events on the document. However, it seems that when I click on the scrollbar, the event is not captured. This leads me to believe that the scrollbars aren't really part of the document. (Assumption :-)) Is this a correct assumption?     I want a Qt window to come up with the following arrangement of dock widgets on the right. Qt allows you to provide an argument to the addDockWidget method of QMainWindow to specify the position (top, bottom, left or right) but apparently not how two QDockWidgets placed on the same side will be arranged.     A beginner's question: If, in your nib, you have the File's Owner linked to the ViewController class, and you also have a NSObject-derived class, how do you communicate between the ViewController class and the NSObject class within code? For instance, suppose ScientificCalculatorView.xib looks like this File's Owner (class: ScientificCalculatorViewController) FirstResponder View Calculator (an object that has been linked to the Calculator class) Obviously, I'd want Calculator to be reusable, so it could be used with a NormalCalculatorViewController or something like that. So that UI and the calculator code are separate. Does Calculator even need to be in the nib? It's a beginners question, but I'm just trying to get my head around it.

  • How can I change my code in Excel 2003 to allow me to paste to multiple cells?

    Ran in to a little problem. If I try to paste to multiple cells that are in the range in the code below, I get a run time error 13, type mismatch. The cells in the range may have data other than X but I only want the hyperlink to appear if the cell contains X. It works fine if I just type an X in the cell or if I paste to one cell at a time. I will have times when I want to paste other text to mutiple cells in this range. Thanks to Remnant for his help on the original code. This one last hurdle will put me in the clear. Thx.   • Why are developers proud to say our application is XXX lines of code? [closed]

    I admit, I used to do it. I was proud to tell a fellow developer my application is 10K+ lines of code. I thought it was a "Look at me, I'm smart" statement. Time passed and I realized that a experienced developer would be constantly refactoring all of his code. Not only for the sake of remembering what it was doing, but because he realizes he is smarter today than he was yesterday. No longer was it cool to have multiple nested if statements or completely ignoring generics/lambdas. So, whats your take on this? Do you do it and why?
