• Find workspace location using ANT

  I'm working on a build script in the Flash Builder version of Eclipse. This build script needs to import launch configuration .launch files into the user's workspace. However there doesn't seem to be an available ANT var for determining the workspace location. While stepping through the available vars with intellisense I noticed that ${osgi.instance.area} does point to my current workspace but when I tried to echo it back in a running ant script it just spat out "${osgi.instance.area}" and not the path. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

• Cannot find maven dependency, mysterious jar files

  Hi, I am trying to build a simple war file which has a few jsps. However I am coming across an odd issue, for some reason during the packaging maven is pulling 4 jar files into the WEB-INF/lib. I have trimmed down all the fat from the pom file, and have grepped for any references to these jars without any success. I cannot figure out where maven is pulling them from. I tried 'mvn dependency:build-classpath' and the classpath is empty. Please help, these jars are corrupt and I cannot deploy this war file because of them. Thanks, natasha

• Resize an array of images with OpenCV

  I'm passing an array of images (IplImage**) to an object in C++ using OpenCV. I can give a full implementation if necessary - is there anything in my code that's going to create a null pointer?

  (using Python-Sphinx Documentation tool) I have a .txt log file I'd like to build into _build/html unaltered. What do I need to alter in conf.py, index.rst, etc. Here is the layout: src/ index.rst some_doc.rst somefile.txt How do I get somefile.txt into the html build? I tried adding a line like this to index.rst: Contents: .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 2 some_doc "somefile.txt" hoping it would work by magic, but no magic here! Assuming this is even possible, what would I put in some_doc.rst to refer/link to that file? Note Yes, I'm aware I could put it in /static and just be done with it, but that seems like a total hack, and ugly.

  I'm trying to submit my second app to the App Store. I've followed all the instructions to the best of my knowledge, but I keep getting this error when I try to build and run: "a valid provisioning file for this executable was not found" I'm letting XCode auto select the profile automatically. The one I'd like to select is greyed out. But the dropdown selection in the Build tab of the Target window says "profile doesn't match application identifier" The other thing I don't get about this is that the selection dropdown shows "com.mycompany.myapp" and then "ABCDEDFG.com.mycompany.myapp" (both of those made up) so that I see they don't match. I have the unique identifier profile installed in the Organizer and in plist file. I'm totally confused. I have followed the instructions in my book a few times and just can't get it.

• deleted gen folder, eclipse isn't generating it now :(

  I accidentally deleted my gen folder and now, predictably, my resources are all messed up. I just created a gen folder myself and tried to project clean - that didn't work. Tried right-clicking project and going to android tools fix project properties - didn't work. Tried unchecking build automatically...didn't work. cleaned, closed project, closed eclipse, restarted, etc, etc. Nothing is working and I keep seeing this error: gen already exists but is not a source folder. Convert to a source folder or rename it. EDIT - OK was able to generate R.java, but now I'm getting crazy stuff in the console: [2011-06-14 17:06:11 - fastapp] Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 [2011-06-14 17:06:42 - fastapp] Dx trouble processing "java/awt/font/NumericShaper.class": Ill-advised or mistaken usage of a core class (java.* or javax.*) when not building a core library.   is it even possible to modify .apk, by adding additional class to .dex and re-packing with modified manifest.xml?? I know there are tools such as baksmali / smali to disassemble / re-assemble given classes.dex from .apk, but not sure limitation what could be modified from there on? I'm trying to add additional activity, to modify starting launcher activity (may be from androidmanifest.xml) from original apk, then re-pack and sign to make complete single .apk... all need to be done out of build time, no raw source or build structure visible, only .apk as input... ANY IDEA?

So far, I've done the following: Create a new project; an iPhone OS window based app. Go to target info- under packaging, change the wrapper extension from app to framework Go to Action-new build phase - copy headers. Change roles of headers to 'public' From my application, I add the framework to the frameworks group.

• cant start glassfish within netbeans

See the server log for details. BUILD FAILED (total time: 2 minutes 0 seconds) but then i fire up Terminal in mac and use asadmin start-domain and it starts. and in netbeans i then Run the project and it fires up Safari and displays the content. but why cant glassfish start in netbeans? any idea?

  Hi, i'm using ASP.NET + a MySql Db. I'm trying to configure a ListView so i've written: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="dsDatiUtente" runat="server" ConnectionString="Server=12.28.136.29;Database=mydb;Uid=m111d1;Pwd=fake;Pooling=false;" ProviderName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM user WHERE idUser=@IdUser" / At the beginning of my aspx page i've added <%@ Import Namespace="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" %> But if i click to the sqldatasource and click "Refresh Schema" i got this error: "Unable to retrive schema.... Unable to find the requested .Net Framework data provider" For instance, i've installed it , but i've also uninstalled old version, then installed new versions. In my project i simple copy Mysql dll into "bin" folder, then add a reference to that dll. I'm not sure is the corrected way... I need to have the "refreshed schema" to permit vs.net to build automatically my listview ... if i can't to "auto build" listview, i have to write all code by hand, and it is a too expensive work me :( What i'm wrong ? • CoreFoundation Lite on Linux and Android

  I would like to use Apple's CoreFoundation library on linux and android. The source code is available here, but there is very little documentation on how to build it on Linux. As far as I could figure out, building is done through a script called BuildCFLite. I grepped for DEPLOYMENT_TARGET ./CFUtilities.c:#if DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_MACOSX || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_EMBEDDED || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_LINUX || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_FREEBSD and Linux seems to be supported at first site by setting -DDEPLOYMENT_TARGET_LINUX, but some of the compiler flags in that script are not available on linux, so when I try to build I get an error. Does anybody have experience building the latest version of CoreFoundation for Linux? Also what are the dependencies for building CoreFoundation? Would it be feasible to use it in the Android NDK?

  Hi All, long time listener, first time caller. I use SPs and this isn't an SP vs code-behind "Build your SQL command" question. I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

  There is a library in python that I love called requests. requests is a http client build on urllib3, top-notch :) (http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/) I am looking for something similar in ruby, basically what I need is : Upload files support (multipart/form-data) Easy get/post Cookies can be passed from a response object to a request object (build manually login script) Stable and Flexible Sessions support (to not have to handle cookies manually if we don't have too) I've looked at Typhoeus, but the code example in the home page doesn't work (they have moved code along and the get method is not longer directly accessible like that), so it's not starting well! :) Curb seems nice and I like curl, there is alson RestClient which seems popular and em-http seems pretty fast according to benchmark. There is a aso Patron and CurlFu which I haven't have the time to try. And of course Net:Http. But it doesn't seems to have a main stream solution that everyone point. I think a lot of people have been in my situation and I wonder what they have choosen and why?

• Colorizing your terminal and shell environment?

  I spend most of my time working in Unix environments and using Terminal emulators. I try to use color on the commandline, because color makes the output more useful and intuitive. What are some good ways to add color to my terminal environment? What tricks do you do? What pitfals have you encountered? Unfortunately, support for color is wildly variable depending on terminal type, OS, TERM setting, utility, buggy implementations, etc. Here's what I do currently, after alot of experimentation: I tend to set 'TERM=xterm-color', which is supported on most hosts (but not all). I work on a number of different hosts, different OS versions, etc. I'm trying to keep things simple and generic, if possible. Many OSs set things like 'dircolors' and by default, and I don't want to modify this everywhere. So I try to stick with the defaults. Instead tweak my Terminal's color configuration. Use color for some unix commands (ls, grep, less, vim) and the Bash prompt. These commands seem to the standard "ANSI escape sequences" I've managed to find some settings which are widely supported, and which don't print gobbledygook characters in older environments (even FreeBSD4!) (For the most part).   In the software world, it seems to me that SCM is an unfortunately overloaded acronym. It can mean:- Source Code Management Software Configuration Management Which one of these is the dominant term? Do they mean the same thing? To me Source Code Management is essentially synonymous with Version Control. Whereas Software Configuration Management is a larger subject, which potentially includes Build and Release Management as well. However looking on Wikipedia, it lists Subversion as a Software Configuration Management tool, which is at most only tangentially true. Build and Software Management has come up before, but nothing definitive has been said on the matter, unfortunately.

• Unable to install Maven: "JAVA_HOME is set to an invalid directory"

  I followed the Maven tutorial to the letter but I still can't get Maven installed. When I run the following in command prompt: E:\Documents and Settings\zach>mvn --version I get: 'mvn' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I navigated to the maven install folder and ran mvn --version and got: E:\java resources\apache-maven-2.2.0\bin>mvn --version ERROR: JAVA_HOME is set to an invalid directory. JAVA_HOME = "E:\Sun\SDK\jdk\bin" Please set the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment to match the location of your Java installation but when I run java -version I get: java version "1.6.0_14" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode) So I do have Java installed. Anyone know what the problem is?

  After hearing about git commit hooks, I was thinking maybe there are such things as email hooks... Is it possible for me to build a program that says "hey, you just received an email, now run this ruby script"? Something like a GMail Web Hook. Is there anything out there like that? I mean I could build a cron thing that checked my email all the time, but maybe there's a more formal way. Looking for an online email system to do this with, not say my Mac Mail.

  When I signed up for my Debian Linux VPS hosting and first logged on and invoked ps aux, there was the only user process running: sshd. As I can see, this was minimal Linux with only two things installed and configured: sshd and apt (plus all dependencies, of course). I want to build (or use existing) similar Linux distro, any advice on how to build (or pick) one? Googling "minimum linux", or "linux with sshd only" usually brings up Debian's netinstall, which is not what I want. Thanks in advance.

• Glew in VS 2010: unresolved external symbol __imp__glewInit

  I am learning OpenGL by following the redbook. When I come to around page 90, I need use glGenBuffers(); Then I need install "glew". By following the steps in www.cs.uiowa.edu/~cwyman/classes/common/howto/winGLUT.html I download glew.zip from glew.sourceforge.net/ and unpack the files. I put glew.h in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Include and put glew32.lib in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Lib and put glew32.dll in C:\Windows\System32. After that, I build my project in VS 2010 and in Linker-input, I add dependencies glew32.lib. But when I build it, I have error unresolved external symbol _imp_glewInit I spend whole day to search solutions, but did not find one. Hope someone can help me with this.

• What signing method to use for public open-source projects?

  I'm publishing an open-source library on CodePlex, and want the dll files to have strong names so that they can be added to GAC. What's the best option for signing? Should I use SNK? If so, everyone have access to the key. I don't have a problem with everyone having access, but is it a good approach? Should I use PFX? If so, does it mean that other people downloading the source code are not able to build the solution? What I like to do is that I am the only one person to have access to the key, so that the signed assemblies also have a level of authenticity, but meanwhile don't prevent other developers to download, build, or change the source code for themselves, and be able to post changes for the main project.
