I need to start building an Android app that uses the JUCE libraries. I'm reading the web site and trying to figure stuff out.
I tried installing JUCE on an Ubuntu 11.04 system, and when I built the IntroJucer app, the menus don't work right (they flash open when I click with the mouse but then disappear). Can a JUCE app for Android be built on Mac OS X, or even Windows?
If you are using JUCE to build Android apps, please give me any advice you can.
I installed Qt 4.7 beta on OS X. Then I wanted to try out the declarative module:
The doc says #include <QtDeclarative>
The Minehunt example says #include <qdeclarative.h>
Neither is found!
Most of the other header files are where they are supposed to be:
/Library/Frameworks/Qt*.framework/Versions/4/Headers
What do I do?
n the installation documentation to RoR it mentions that there are many limitations to running Ruby on Rails on Windows7, and in some cases, whole libraries do not work.
How bad are these limitations, should I always default to Linux to code / run RoR, and is Iron Ruby expected to fix these limitations or are they core to the OS itself?
Hi folks,
I'm currently using os.popen() but have been recommended to use subprocess.popen() instead.
Any ideas on how I can integrate this?
It would be cool and fun to have a Python shell accessible on a Django app. But I reckon that it might be a bit complex to implement.
I guess I would have to retrieve the subprocess, as a new request comes in.
Any ideas?
Could someone recommend a good and inexpensive software synthesizer which generates really good piano sound (sample-based); support for other instruments is not required. OS: Windows or MacOS. Java interface would be a great asset.
I'm browsing through OpenJDK sources and cannot find the place where optimized code is replaced.
I wonder how this can be done in protected mode, isn't it some kind of selfmodifing code which should be prevented by the OS?
Can any one explain how are the concepts of process and threads implemented in Linux kernel ? I am looking for an intuitive explanation with some C snippets ( and important data structures) that clearly distinguishes between the two. I am just looking for the key implementation ideas I should get hold off. Essentially, I want to understand them and implement something similar in an embedded target (not supporte by any OS) in C language.
I need to determine how many channels a sound track has in a QuickTime movie. I can get to the track, then I am stuck. I wonder if the answer would be in a QTFormatDescription, but I can't figure out how to get one for the track. I am using Objective-C on Mac OS 10.6.
INFORMIX-SE 7.2:
I would like to dedicate a hard disk, exclusively for my dbname.dbs directory which holds all the .dat and .idx files, and create a ramdisk for my /tmp temporary files in order to improve performance. I would also like to strip down the OS from any unecessary files and processes to minimize overhead for my dedicated application. Is this a good idea and are there any roadmaps for accomplishing this?
(I'm coming from an iPhone dev world. )
In Android do we need to worry what OS version we compile against? In the iPhone world I would usually target a release that's at least 6 months old to limit the number of issues with installing on iPhones with old OSs.
What strategy should I use when choosing what to compile against on the Android?
I'm looking for any open source registry / file system monitoring tool with a hooking driver (like procmon and few other tools), compatible with latest OS. No specific language preference. Any info would be appreciated.
I was wondering how one might extract the current state of the registry, of Windows XP, in C or C++? (While the OS is active).
I been trying to use BackupRead() on the registry-files, but it is impossible to CreateFile() them. I managed to create a Shadow Copy of the registry-files, but it wasn't the current state of the registry.
Would appreciate any hint... (I know ERUNT is able to do it)
Thanks,
Doori Bar
Say I have two NSTimers in my iPhone app: timer1 and timer2. timer1 calls function1 30 times per second and timer2 calls function2 30 times per second. Assume these two functions are reading and updating the same integer variables. Are there any "multi-threading" issues here? If not how does iPhone OS handle the execution of the two functions (in general)?
I want to quit application in Android. Just put a "quit" button, which kills my app.
I know I shouldn't do this. I know that this is not the philosophy of the OS.
If you know how it can be done, pls share.
In the app, I have many opened activities, so "finish()" will not do the job.
Thank you for your information in advance.

I have a file of data Dump, in with different timestamped data available, I get the time from timestamp and sleep my c thread for that time. But the problem is that The actual time difference is 10 second and the data which I receive at the receiving end is almost 14, 15 second delay. I am using window OS. Kindly guide me.
Sorry for my week English.
Hello I have some code that is cross-platform by unsing #ifdef OS,
I have a Queue protected by a CriticalSection on Windows, and by a pthread_mutex_t on Linux.
I would like to implement a Wait(timeout) call that would block a thread until something has been enqueued. I though about using WaitForSingleObject on windows but it don't seem to support CriticalSection. Which Win32 and which Linux functions should I use to Wait and Signal for a condition to happen.
Thank
I'm running on an OS X environment and would like to create a flexible web development environment locally... including the option to run on an Nginx server for my PHP-based application.
At the end of the day (or, development cycle), I'd like to be able to hit a switch and have it all sync over to Amazon AWS hosting (EC2, S3) - instances, databases, files, configurations, and all.
Are there any simple ways to do this?
What are supported clients for an asp.net web page?
I am trying to document an asp.net website and I am unsure what I should say as far as client support.
Are there limitations for asp.net as far as browsers? I have used IE and Firefox does it not work with some of the other browsers (chrome or safari)? Should I say the client is limited to any specific OS (I would expect it to work with a Mac or a Linux box)?
Hi, We plan to host our website on a linux server. The site is created using java based technologies and will run on multiple instances of tomcat with apache in the front. I want to go in for a 64 bit linux OS so that I can install 64bit jvm. So my options are :
Ubuntu
Fedora
CentOS
which one (and which version) would be the most stable?
Hi,

Hey,
I'm trying to develop a toolbar for Microsoft Outlook. For getting it to work I need mso.dll and msoutl.olb as an import.
My problem is: the path is hardcoded , but it varies for every OS and of course if someone doesn't install Office to the default path.
I tried it this way
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/234788/en-us/
but it didn't work, because I couldn't get the return value I needed (OK, after four type conversions but I thought there had to be a better way ;) )
Thanks for helping
