  • Need a GUI app for group policy login script

    I wrote a C# 4.0 application that works on a Windows computer but when using Group Policy to set it as a login script, it does not run. The application is being called from the same location and using rsop.msc shows that the application should be run. I see that using C# 4.0 may be a little overkill for this purpose, but it just seems wrong to write a VB6 application to do the same thing. The requirements for the application states that there need to be specific GUI elements that can't be just text on the window. I need larger fonts and color elements. Is there something more appropriate (and current) that I should be using?

  • Prompt for credentials in a batch script

    I am trying to perform a network copy of files via a batch script. However, as usual there are some networks where the 'copy' command fails saying 'Bad username or password'. And when I try using xcopy, it never works. I have also tried using, net use \\server\ password /user:domain\username net use \\server\ipc$ /user:domain\username password But none of these work. Any ideas on how I can accomplish this? I was also wondering if it is possible to prompt the ususal Windows login dialog for this...(just an idea) Any leads on this would be highly appreciated.   • Script to restart BlackBerry services

    Can somebody give me a script advice/example of how to restart services? I have to restart 17 services, but the first 4 services have to be in the right order and after the restart command is given to one of the services, the next one should be started when the previous one is finished. I know I can restart a service by net command, and I can build a delay by for example a ping command that repeats for an x amount of times, but I never know in advance how long it is going to take for a service to restart.     I would like to have these commands run as the ss user from root mkdir bin cp -r /opt/gitolite . gitolite/install -ln gitolite setup -pk ss.pub mkdir -p .gitolite/hooks/common ln -s /opt/pre-receive .gitolite/hooks/common/ so everything is executed in /home/ss. The 4th line requires $HOME/bin as you can see from the 3rd line. The only way I can get it to work is by adding su -c "command" ss to each line, which is not a nice hack. This is an extension to my previous question, where I wasn't precise enough. Question How do I run all these commands as a script in a practical way?

    I have a Windows XP machine that runs two applications and both print on a thermal printer connected by a serial port. For one application, the "Generic / Text Only" printer must be present, for the other to work I need to remove it. I've found a few .vbs scripts, but they are for network printer. How do I make them work with my local printer? Is there a better solution? The user would have to run the script every time he needs to switch from an application to another.

    In my nant script I retrieve my environment variable in this way: but when I run it through jenkins using nant as build step I got an error like this. Expression: ${environment::get-variable('MAIN_PROJECT_PATH')} ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Environment variable "MAIN_PROJECT_PATH" does not exist. Is there configuration for this? so that Jenkins will recognize environment variables access by my nant script? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    I've create a plain and siple backup script that only backs up certain files and folders. tar -zcf $DIRECTORY/var.www.tar.gz /var/www tar -zcf $DIRECTORY/development.tar.gz /development tar -zcf $DIRECTORY/home.tar.gz /home Now this script runs for about 30mins then gives me the following error gzip: stdout: File too large Any other solutions that I can use to backup my files using shell scripting or a way to solve this error? I'm grateful for any help.
