  • Parse contents of directory to bash command in a script

    I have the directory ~/fooscripts/ and inside there are foo1.txt, foo2.txt, etc etc I have a command that takes the file foo1.txt as input and does some calculation. The output location etc is handled internally in fooprog fooprog -user-data=foo1.txt I would like to automate the whole thing in a bash script so that the script will parse all txt files in ~/fooscripts/ sequentially. I am a newbie in bash. Could anyone give me a hint?

    I want to compare two files and see if they are the same or not in my shell script, my way is: diff_output=`diff ${dest_file} ${source_file}` if [ some_other_condition -o ${diff_output} -o some_other_condition2 ] then .... fi Basically, if they are the same ${diff_output} should contain nothing and the above test would evaluate to true. But when I run my script, it says [: too many arguments On the if [....] line. Any ideas?

    Seeking a method to: Take whitespace separated tokens in a String; return a suggested Word ie: Google Search can take "fonetic wrd nterpreterr", and atop of the result page it shows "Did you mean: phonetic word interpreter" A solution in any of the C* languages or Java would be preferred. Are there any existing Open Libraries which perform such functionality? Or is there a way to Utilise a Google API to request a suggested word?

  • Nodejs: Change working directory when running node bin script

    I am trying to change the working directory when my nodejs script is run from a bin script. So simplified I have something like: #!/usr/bin/env node process.cd('/Users') When I then run this command like ./bin/nodefile it exits but stays in the same directory it started in. I have also tried shelljs, What is the best way to do this? I understand it's working but it's just in a separate process. Thanks.

    When I run my python script in the shell terminal, it works sudo myscript.py --version=22 --base=252 --hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}" But when I run in Hudson and Jenkins, using Execute Shell step, somehow, the string --hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}" is interpreted as sudo myscript.py --version=22 --base=252 '--hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}"' How do we overcome this so that our script would run in Jenkins and Hudson ? Unfortuneatly the URL is in the form of a PHP script i.e. www.website.com/generatefilename.php?file=5233 If you visit the link in a browser, you are prompted to download the actual file and extension. I need to send this link to the downloader, but I can't send the downloader the PHP link. How would I get the full file name in a usable variable?
