  • Binding a DropDownList inside a DetailsView

    Hello, I'm having problems trying to populate a dropdownlist from the database. When I'm trying to set the datasource I can't find the dropdown control, it's in a DetailsView so I think it might have something to do with it only being created when it's in edit mode. It still says it's in current mode when I'm editing though, so not sure what's going on there. When peering into the System.Gadget.Flyout.document object through the debugger, the body parameter is null - I don't think that's right. The System.Gadget.Flyout.file value is being set elsewhere when the gadget first loads. What am I doing wrong? Also, does the System.Gadget.Flyout.show property have to be true before the System.Gadget.Flyout.document property can be accessed? My ultimate goal is to open a flyout and dynamically populate it's html

    I have a simple XML document in the following format: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <object> <strField>Foo</strField> <intField>1</intField> <dateField>2010-11-03</dateField> <boolField>true</boolField> <nilField></nilField> </object> I would like to parse this into a Hash to be passed to Model.create: {:object => { :strField => 'Foo', :intField => 1, :dateField => Date.today, :boolField => true, :nilField => nil }} Sadly there are no "type" attributes in the XML, so using Hash.from_xml just parses each field as a string. What I am looking for is some sort of field type auto detection. I have also looked at Nokogiri, but that can't output as a Hash. What is the simplest and most efficient way to achieve this?   • Best linux distro for cuda development

    Can someone suggest the best linux distro for CUDA development. The reason why I'm asking is that I tried installing the latest cuda SDK in Fedora 12, and it was a real pain in the neck. It took me 8 hours to get the nouveau driver removed and the nvidia-driver installed. After that somehow the OS decides to act up and blow up the /var/log/message file to 9 GB and eat up all my remaining space, with strange errors. I don't even understand what happened further, but my Nvidia drives don't work anymore. Please don't flame me, I'm NOT a windows fanboy or anything. I've been using Linux since 2002, and actually like it. Its just my personal experience. Would be really helpful for positive suggestions. Fanboys, please stay aside. Thanks in advance.

    I'm reading Sybex Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide April 2005 (ISBN0782144195). This book is for java developers who wants to pass java certification. After a chapter about access modifiers (along with other modifiers) I found the following question (#17): True or false: If class Y extends class X, the two classes are in different packages, and class X has a protected method called abby(), then any instance of Y may call the abby() method of any other instance of Y. This question confused me a little. As far as I know you can call protected method on any variable of the same class (or subclasses). You cannot call it on variables, that higher in the hierarchy than you (e.g. interfaces that you implement). For example, you cannot clone any object just because you inherit it. But the questions says nothing about variable type, only about instance type. I was confused a little and answered "true". The answer in the book is False. An object that inherits a protected method from a superclass in a different package may call that method on itself but not on other instances of the same class. There is nothing here about variable type, only about instance type. This is very strange, I do not understand it. Can anybody explain what is going on here?

    I'm using multicast UDP over localhost to implement a loose collection of cooperative programs running on a single machine. The following code works well on Mac OSX, Windows and linux. The flaw is that the code will receive UDP packets outside of the localhost network as well.     About an year ago I installed gnome fonts on my MacBook Pro and I use them for Terminal.app Today I was using Terminal with three windows open and suddenly the app has quit (I don't know if I accidentally pressed command+q) but when I reopened the application fonts looks strange. I had a screenshot taken before the accident I did the same screenshot now and here's the result I don't know what's happened, I tried to reinstall the fonts, restarted the computer, but with no luck. One more thing, I use an external screen, I read some posts regarding font issues with external monitors but I had this monitor before this accident and everything worked fine until now. Please help me to solve this because my eyes were used to that font and now it looks weird to see this different font

  • ImageViews in a ListView not aligned vertically [Mono for Android]

    I'm very new to developing apps to android, so bear with me. Having said that, I'm trying to make a list with a image to the left and a title and description to the right of the image. The image is downloaded from the web in the background and then set in the UI as they complete. This all works. However, the images are not aligned properly and I simply cannot understand why. I'm thinking it has something to do with the layout defined in the xml file? I tried using android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" and android:layout_gravity="left" but that got me nowhere. Then I didn't know how to proceed, even after googling every way I could think of. I'm sorry if this is very basic, but I would really appreciate some help here.     I have some problems with location systems. I have a service that implements locationlistener. I want to get the best location using network when possible, gps if network is not enough accurate (accuracy greater than 300mt). The problem is this. I need location (accurate if possible, inaccuarte otherways) every 5 minutes. If I remove allupdates and then request for gps updates, like this: lm.removeUpdates((android.location.LocationListener) this); Criteria criteria = new Criteria(); criteria.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE); criteria.setAltitudeRequired(false); criteria.setBearingRequired(false); String provider=lm.getBestProvider(criteria, true); if(provider!=null){ lm.requestLocationUpdates( provider,5*60*1000,0,this); } system stops waiting for gpsupdate, and if i'm in a close room it can stay without location updates for hours, ignoring timeupdate indications.     I have a Dell xps M1330 which originally ran Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7. When I try to run a Win 7 game like spider solitaire I receive the following message: The game is running in software rendering mode. Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver which could slow down game performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on. I confirmed that hardware acceleration is turned on. When I go to Dell's site, I'm told there is no later video driver. When I run the game it runs very choppy. I have a .pptx file which is doing strange things in normal view and I suspect it may be related to the same video acceleration problem.

    I have to create a program that finds all the possible ways of filling a board of size 3xN You place a domino which takes up 2 spaces to completely fill the board. So far, this is my thought process on how it should be done based on what the teacher has said as well as my own thoughts. Get input and check if its even or odd If it's odd, the board can't be filled all the way and the program ends If it's even, place a domino horizontally in the top right corner of the board Test if you can place a domino vertically in that spot. Repeat those two steps as many times as possible. The problem is I don't know how to code it to the point where you can remember the placements of each domino. I can get it to where it fills the board completely once and maybe twice, but nothing past that. I also know that I'm supposed to use recursion to figure this out fwiw. Here is the code I started on so far. There is also a main method and I have the initial even/odd check working fine.   • Short USB cables not charging?

    I find this a strange problem but I can't find anything online about it. Recently I purchased a few short USB cables (20-30cm), to use in my car's USB connector to charge my phone. Strangely an older longer USB cable (1.2m), charges the phone fine (and the icon changes to show charging). With any of the short cables in the same USB slot no charging happens. Both the long and the short cables are USB2 compatible. I naturally assumed the short cables were faulty but connecting them to a PC or connecting to a high capacity external battery charging is successful using all the short cables and longer cables. Hopefully someone here is able to give me an explanation of the problem and how I can overcome this and use a short cable where it is most appropriate. Thanks

  • onComplete for Ajax.Request sometimes does not hide the load animation in Prototype

    I have a Ajax.Request in which I use onLoading and onComplete to show and hide a load animation gif. The problem is that every 10 clicks or so, the load animation fails to hide and just stays there animating even though the ajax request has returned successfully.   • Microsoft Entourage/Exchange Server problem: all objects disappeared from server - still in some for

    One of our employees works with Entourage on his MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6) accessing Exchange Server 2007. Last Friday morning, I think while working over a VPN, Entourage (I think it was Entourage) deleted all his objects (mail, calendar, contacts) on the server and while creating a lot of strange folders (starting with underscores) on the client. The local data seems to be there, but not in a consistent form. Since the user's mailbox is rather big, I suspect, that there was some kind of "move" operation which did not complete. I tried to export the data, but the export stops because of a corrupted object. Is there a tool or another way to export or retrieve the local data? Edit - FYI: we solved the problem getting his data from the previous night's backup.

    I'm building a mobile app with J2ME, and I've found that the data I write into a RecordStore can be accessed while the program is still running but it is lost after quitting and restarting it. No exception is thrown, the data is simply lost. UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm using NetBeans on Windows 7. I'm not sure if it is using the WTK version I have previously installed or another one it has installed somewhere else. I've checked my WTK folder for the files Pavel wrote about, but couldn't find them.     I am successfully injecting base class properties with spring.net with just a class that inherits from a base abstract class. Lets say Class MyClass : MyBase, and I am successfully setting a property like this: <object id="myInstantiableClass" type="myAssembly.MyClass myAssenbly" abstract="true"> <property name="MyBaseClassProperty" ref="anotherObjRef"></property> </object> Where MyBaseClassProperty is a property on the base class. Now I have another abstract class between the old base class and the instantiable class, and I am trying to set properties on both the abstract classes. So MyClass : MyNewBaseClass, and MyNewBaseClass : MyBaseClass. I have an additional property on the new base class (MyNewBaseClassProperty) and I am trying to inject it like this: <object id="myInstantiableClass" type="myAssembly.MyClass myAssenbly" abstract="true"> <property name="MyBaseClassProperty" ref="anotherObjRef"></property> <property name="MyNewBaseClassProperty" ref="someOtherObjRef"></property> </object> The property on the old base class is being injected but the one on the new one is not - and I am not getting an error or anything (so I am pretty sure my config is good), that property is just null! It seems like HandleScope is not designed to be used in multithreaded applications. I can use the v8::Locker and v8::Unlocker methodes but that would always give me execution traces as this: t1: a = 1 t1: b = 2 t2: a = 1 t2: b = 2 I hope someone can give me a hint on getting this code multithreaded so that a possible execution trace could like this: t1: a = 1 t2: a = 1 t1: b = 2 t2: b = 2 Thanks already in advance!   • sudo displays typed password in bash script

    Hullo, I have a bash script that uses sudo a few times. There's a couple of strange points about it though. It asks me for my password a few seconds after I've already entered it for a previous command. The second time I enter my password, it's echoed to the display. Here's the relevant bits of the script. sudo service apache2 stop drush sql-dump --root="$SITE_DIR" --structure-tables-key=svn --ordered-dump | grep -iv 'dump completed on' | sudo tee "$DB_DIR/${SITE_NAME}.sql" > /dev/null sudo svn diff "$DB_DIR" | less sudo svn commit -m "$MESSAGE" "$DB_DIR" sudo service apache2 start The first password is to stop apache, and it works as expected. As mentioned, the sudo tee doesn't 'remember' that I have elevated privileges, asks for the password again, and echoes it to the screen. Given that tee is all about echoing to screen, I've played around a little with simple scripts which have | sudo tee, and they all work as expected. Ideas?! TIA Andy

    I'm trying to install bash as the default shell on a ARM Linux running on an embedded device (Synology DS212+ NAS). But there's something really wrong, and I can't figure out what it is. Symptoms: 1) Root has /bin/bash as default shell, and can log in normally via SSH: $ grep root /etc/passwd root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash $ ssh root@NAS root@NAS's password: Last login: Sun Dec 16 14:06:56 2012 from desktop # 2) joeuser has /bin/bash as default shell, and receives "Permission denied" when trying to log in via SSH: $ grep joeuser /etc/passwd joeuser:x:1029:100:Joe User:/home/joeuser:/bin/bash $ ssh joeuser@localhost joeuser@NAS's password: Last login: Sun Dec 16 14:07:22 2012 from desktop Permission denied, please try again. Connection to localhost closed. 3) changing joeuser's shell back to /bin/sh: $ grep joeuser /etc/passwd joeuser:x:1029:100:Joe User:/home/joeuser:/bin/sh $ ssh joeuser@localhost Last login: Sun Dec 16 15:50:52 2012 from localhost $ To make things even more strange, I can log in as joeuser using /bin/bash using the serial console (!). Also a su - joeuser as root works fine, so the bash binary itself is working fine. In an act of despair, I changed joeuser's uid to 0 on /etc/passwd, but also didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be anything permission related. Seems that bash is doing some extra checking that sshd didn't like, and blocking the connections for non-root users. Maybe some sort of sanity checking - or terminal emulation - that is triggering the SIGCHLD, but only when called via ssh. I already went through every single item on sshd_config, and also put SSHD in debug mode, but didn't find anything strange.
