  • NullReferenceException makes me want to shoot myself

    Ok, so once upon a time, my code worked. Since then I did some refactoring (basic stuff so I thought) but now I'm getting a null reference exception, and I can't bloody well figure out why. I select "Create new entry here" and choose mailUser type. Then in step 2 first question is about "RDN" with select box "select RDN attribute". What should I choose as RDN?   • Is it possible create a 4TB bootable partition in the x86 edition of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise?

    I'd like to find out if there is any way to accomplish this, since it would benifit my storage server greatly. I am using a Promise FastTrak 8660 and five Seagate ST31000340NS 1TB drives in a RAID 5 array. I figure that if the x86 ENTERPRISE edition of Server 2003 can handle 64GB of RAM, it should have no problem supporting larger HDD volumes as well. I've read (somewhere...) that the Windows Server operating systems are not limited to the standard 2TB like Windows XP and 2000 are. I'm hoping it's something that just needs to be turned on, similar to the way PAE works for the 4GB RAM limit in x86 servers.

    Is there a way to change the desktop wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter Edition? I wanted to do that on my new netbook, just to find out that there is no "Customize" option in the control panel. Microsoft obviously wants to keep the netbook users rather rigidly from customizing their machines. It isn't even possible to edit the picture itself in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\ directory, due to lack of rights. From what I can tell only the user "Trusted Installer" would have enough rights to do so... Update: With your help I found two programs that are able to bypass Microsoft's limitations: Starter Wallpaper Changer (Thanks to Sopan and javier. I'm using this program now) Wallpaper Changer for Windows 7 (Thanks to Sathya) (This one was taken down for EULA limitations)

  • Force a browser to load the 'https' edition of a website, not the 'http'?

    This is similar to this previous question, but I believe it's a bit different*. Sites like GMail support a preference that pushes all traffic through the SSL edition of the site rather than the plain-text protocol. For sites that don't offer such preferences (or ones that may, but I have been unable to find, like facebook), is there a way using only the browser (perhaps with a plugin or addon) to always try SSL first, and fall-back to plain-text iff SSL fails? Is that solution available on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux? Just one? * The previous question was looking for external applications that would accomplish this goal.

    Why does Windows 7 x64 work faster than an x86 edition on my PC even though I mostly use x86 things in it? What's wrong with me, and what am I missing? Majority of the things I use is x86 (e.g. DAWs, games, media players). A considerable amount of them, however, are x64 (although their x86 counterparts work just fine). I've tried using the same things on the same system but always ended up finding Windows 7 x64 working slightly faster than x86. I'm very observant. I even notice the tiniest window animations. System: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93 GHz RAM: 2 GB x 2 = 4 GB DDR2 @ 332 MHz Motherboard: Intel D945GCNL Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4350 @ 1 GB Dedicated Audio: M-Audio FastTrack Pro HDD: Samsung HD753LJ 733 GB & Samsung HD160JJ 156 GB As you can see, my system is old.

At this point FA doesn’t provide REST API’s but it is planned for a future release. It is however possible to invoke external REST APIs from FA which we will discuss. Oracle continues to invest in improving both SOAP and REST based connectivity. The content in this blog is based on features that were available at the time of writing it. In this two part blog, I will cover the following topics briefly. Invoking FA SOAP web services from external applications Identifying the FA SOAP web service to be invoked Sample invocation from an external application Techniques to invoke FA services from an ADF application Invoking external SOAP Web Services from FA (covered in Part 2) Invoking external REST APIs from FA (covered in Part 2) I’ll touch upon some basics, so that you can quickly build a few SOAP/REST interactions with FA. This is for a .NeET 3.5 SP1 project. When I add the attribute to my web.config, I get the warning The 'optimizeCompilations' attribute is not declared. Does this work for the ASP.NET Development Server? How can I test that it's working?

    Sharepoint is setup to use NTLM authentication. When I reference http://myserver/Sites/Ops/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx?WSDL as a Web Reference, I can call the methods and get valid responses. When I reference the same url as a Service Reference, the server throws an exception when calling methods. My account is admin on the Sharepoint Farm.   • help setting up wsHttpBinding WCF service on .net

    I'm trying to host a WCF service with wsHttpBinding. I created a certificate using makecert and put some lines in web.config. This is the error that I'm getting: System.ArgumentException: The certificate 'CN=WCfServer' must have a private key that is capable of key exchange. The process must have access rights for the private key. On googling up it seems to be some issue with access rights on the certificate file. I used cacls to give read permission to NETWORK SERVICE and also my username but it didn't change anything. I also went to security settings in the properties of the certificate file and gave full control to NETWORK SERVICE and my username. Again to no avail. Can you guide me as to what the problem is and what exactly I need to do? I'm really flaky with these certificate things.
