  • Can you cross-site ping another site using C# or JS/Ajax?

    - by Josh Harris
On our web application I am trying to ping a 3rd party site to see if it is up before redirecting our customers to it. So far I have not seen a way to do this other than from a desktop app or system console. Is this possible? I have heard that there was an image trick in original ASP. Currently we are using .NET MVC with Javascript. Thank you, Josh

  • HTML5 Web DB Security

    - by darrenc
Hi all! I'm looking into an offline web app solution using HTML5. The functionality is everything I need BUT the data stored can be directly queried right in the browser and therefore completely unsecure! Is there anyway to encrypt/hide so that the data is secure? Thanks, D.

  • Hiding a deprecated sharepoint web

    - by BeraCim
Hi all: I want to hide a Sharepoint web that has been deprecated (via custom means) due to the release of a newer version, whether it would be making it invisible in the sites and workspaces, or via some special archiving function provided by Sharepoint. Basically I do not wish the users to be able to see the deprecated site. I was wondering what are the options for doing so, both programmatically or via Sharepoint utils/interfaces? Thanks.

  • asp.net 4.0 web forms routing - default/wildcard route

    - by Martin Robins
I there a simple way when using ASP.NET 4.0 routing with Web Forms to produce a route that will act as some kind of wildcard? It seems to me that within WebForms, you have to specify a route for every page - I am looking for some kind of generic route that can be used where nothing specific is required, perhaps mapping directly from path to path so... http://somedomain.com/folder1/folder2/page would possibly map to folder1/folder2/page.aspx Any suggestions? Thanks

  • how to force client(winform) application to use NTLM when calling web services

    - by peanut
Hi, I have a winform application calling web services hosted in IIS, by default, the client app will use Kerberose for authentication to IIS, and it failed for some reasons? But the same app works fine at another PC(with different user login), and I found it is using NTLM by checking the IIS server event log. is there anyway we can change the client app(winform) authentication type? Thanks in advance

  • Easy to use web-based reporting tool

    - by SuperFurryToad
I'm looking for recommendations for an easy to use reporting/business intelligence tool that can interface with an sql server or access database. It can be web-based or a desktop tool. Ideally it would be freeware or low cost, and easy to use for users who are not that technically savvy (below the level of someone who can generate reports and complicated queries in Access). Any tools I've seen so far (such as Crystal Reports) are either too expensive or too complicated to use for non-power users.

  • Entity Date Modelset Generates Errors in Visual Web Developer

    - by davemackey
I attempted to add a ADO.NET Entity Data Model to my Visual Web Developer 2010 Express project and it generates but returns a whole slew of errors. Why is this generating errors? Here are the main errors: 'Public Property ID As Integer' has multiple definitions with identical signatures. Method 'Onaddress_IDChanging' cannot be declared 'Partial' because only one method 'Onaddress_IDChanging' can be marked 'Partial'. '_line1' is already declared as 'Private _line1 As String' in this class.

  • in a J2EE application when does a listener get called?

    - by josh
I have a J2EE app and it has a listener in web.xml. Listener contains a method called contextInitialized I want to know when does contextInitialized actually get called? From my reading I understand that it gets called when deploying the application. Can there be situations/scenario's where it could be called after the application has been deployed? Say that I am in a Clustered GlassFish app server environment. Could it be called after the application has been deployed?

  • Commission Detail Service (REST)

    - by Mike
Hi, Can someone who uses CJ's Commission Detail Service (REST) tell me what a sample XML response is for this query. None of CJ's Web Services documentation indicates exactly how the XML is formatted and as I don't have any commission payments yet I can only guess the result.

  • Autofac in web applications, where should I store the container for easy access

    - by michielvoo
I'm still pretty new to using Autofac and one thing I miss in the documentation and examples is how to make it easy to get to the configured container from different places in a web application. I know I can use the Autofac controller factory to automatically resolve constructor injected dependencies for controllers, but how about the other stuff you might need to resolve that is not injected yet. Is there an obvious pattern I am not aware of for this? Thank you!

  • service not defined when precompiling a web app with AJAX-enabled WCF Service

    - by Omar Mefire
I created a web application in which one .aspx page calls an AJAX-enabled WCF service (created with Visual Studio 2008 Add New Item - AJAX-enabled WCF Service). when I test the application in Visual Studio, it works and the page can call the service from Javascript but when I "publish" (code precompilation using Visual Studio) it to the local IIS Server, I get an error : "service ThunServ is undefined" in my .html page. I've been spending quite a time to solve this problem but to no avail. Attarea.
