Ant-Ivy-Scala Template: any suggestions on improvements?

I just created a template project for Scala using Ant and Apache Ivy. I want to get the communitie's input on any improvements to the Template so it can be improved. The Environment effectively consists of 3 files: build.xml ivy.xml ivysettings.xml running ant init will create all needed directories. Rails ActiveResource Associations

I have some ARes models (see below) that I'm trying to use associations with (which seems to be wholly undocumented and maybe not possible but I thought I'd give it a try) So on my service side, my ActiveRecord object will render something like render :xml => @group.to_xml(:include => :customers) (see generated xml below) The models Group and Customers are HABTM On my ARes side, I'm hoping that it can see the <customers> xml attribute and automatically populate the .customers attribute of that Group object , but the has_many etc methods aren't supported (at least as far as I can tell) So I'm wondering how ARes does it's reflection on the XML to set the attributes of an object. In AR for instance I could create a def customers=(customer_array) and set it myself, but this doesn't seem to work in ARes. One suggestion I found for an "association" is the just have a method def customers Customer.find(:all, :conditions => {:group_id => self.id}) end But this has the disadvantage that it makes a second service call to look up those customers... not cool I'd like my ActiveResource model to see that the customers attribute in the XML and automatically populate my model. ActiveMQ 5.2.0 + REST + HTTP POST = java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

First off, I am a newbie when it comes to JMS & ActiveMQ. I have been looking into a messaging solution to serve as middleware for a message producer that will insert XML messages into a queue via HTTP POST. The producer is an existing system written in C++ that cannot be modified (so Java and the C++ API are out). Using the "demo" examples and some trial and error, I have cobbled together a working example of what I want to do (on a windows box). The web.xml I configured in a test directory under "webapps" specifies that the HTTP POST messages received from the producer are to be handled by the MessageServlet. I added a line for the text app in "activemq.xml" ('ow' is the test app dir): I created a test script to "insert" messages into the queue which works well. The problem I am running into is that it as I continue to insert messages via REST/HTTP POST, the memory consumption and thread count used by ActiveMQ continues to rise (It happens when I have timely consumers as well as slow or non-existent consumers). When memory consumption gets around 250MB's and the thread count exceeds 5000 (as shown in windows task manager), ActiveMQ crashes and I see this in the log: Exception in thread "ActiveMQ Transport Initiator: vm://localhost#3564" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread It is as if Jetty is spawning a new thread to handle each HTTP POST and the thread never dies. I did look at this page: http://activemq.apache.org/javalangoutofmemory.html and tried but that didn't fix the problem (although I didn't fully understand the implications of the change either). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Bruce Loth PS - I included the "test message producer" python script below for what it is worth. Installing Windows on HP Proliant Servers without SmartStart

I have a PXE server for deploying Windows XP and Windows 7 to workstations. The process is as follows: Boot the workstation from the NIC. Workstation sends a DHCP request. DHCP server responds with an IP address and the location of the PXE server. Workstation downloads WinPE image file from PXE server via TFTP Workstation stores WinPE image file in memory and executes it. Once booted into WinPE, I connect to a network share to gain access to either the Windows XP or Windows 7 installation files. A custom script is launched to guide you through the process of formatting and partitioning the hard drive(s) (using DISKPART and FORMAT). Another custom script asks for details such as the hostname to assign to the workstation. The answers provided are used to build an unattended answer file (SIF [Setup Information File] for WinXP and XML for Win7). The Windows setup EXE is launched, passing the unattended answer file to it as a parameter. The Windows XP and Windows 7 installation sources have been customised to include the drivers for our Dell workstations. They also run a number of scripts upon first booting up to install software packages. This process works very well for our workstations and I would now like to use it for building our servers too. The vast majority of our servers are HP Proliant DL360 G6, DL380 G5 and DL380 G6. They’re running Windows Server 2003 (various editions) or 2008 (various editions). To date, we have always built the HP Proliant servers using the SmartStart CD provided. SmartStart does three useful things for us: Setup RAID with HP Array Configuration Utility (ACU). Installs and configures SNMP Installs various HP Tools for Windows (HP Array Configuration Utility, HP Array Diagnostic Utility, HP Proliant Integrated Management Log Viewer, etc) Using SmartStart I have never had to manually download and install Windows drivers for network, sound, video, etc. I'm not sure if this is because SmartStart copies drivers from the CD during setup, or whether Windows just has the drivers natively in its driver CAB. If I abandon the SmartStart CD in favour of my PXE server I would have to do the following: As I wont have access to ACU, I'll configure the RAID (before booting to the PXE server) by pressing F8 (during the boot process) to access Option ROM Configuration for Arrays (ORCA). Installation of SNMP and the HP Tools will have to be installed once the Windows installation is complete using the Proliant Support Pack. Is this method OK? Is there anything that the SmartStart CD does that I'll be unable to do by other means? Are there any disadvantages to not using the SmartStart CD? Many thanks. UPDATE 05/01/12 I’ve been reading through the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit documentation. The scripting toolkit contains command line tools which work within WinPE and can such things as configure BIOS settings, configure an array and setup ILO. I’m personally not too bothered about configuring BIOS settings as I rarely deviate from the defaults (unless the server is to be a Hyper-V host). I’m not too fussed about being able to configure the array from within WinPE, as I’m happy to just press F8 and use Option ROM Configuration for Arrays (ORCA). Although, if it’s easy enough to do, I will explore this further, as it saves time if everything can be configured from within WinPE. One of the nice features all the tools possess is that you can pass input files to them. EG. Configure one server to your requirements, capture its configuration to a file (using the appropriate tool), you can then use the tool on other servers passing the input file with the captured configuration. Array controller drivers appear to be included with the toolkit along with example of how to incorporate them within a WinPE build. I suppose WinPE won’t be able to see logical volumes (I.E 2x physical disks in a RAID 1 configuration) without the array controller drivers? I mentioned in my post that SmartStart normally installs a bunch of Windows HP tools for you. I’ve had a look today, and if you run the SmartStart CD from within Windows all the tools can be installed. Therefore I can do this after the Windows installation is complete. The SmartStart CD appears to contain a lot Windows drivers. I can customise my Windows 2008 source to incorporate these drivers. However, I understand that incorporating an array controller driver is a little different to most drivers. I believe that you have to provide the driver during the very early stages of the Windows setup. I’m working through the Scripting Toolkit documentation to try and work this out...

WCF - Dynamically Change WebResponseFormat

Is there a way to dynamically change the WebResponseFormat on a method given a parameter passed by the client? I default my WebResponseFormat to XML, but I want to give the client the opportunity to specify a format as JSON or XML and if none is specified, default to XML. Currently I am doing the following: [WebGet(UriTemplate = "objects", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare)] [OperationContract] List<SampleObject> GetObjects(); The user can call it via: http://localhost/rest/myservice/objects They then can specify a format by doing: http://localhost/rest/myservice/objects?format=json The problem is that when I try to set the response content type via: WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse.ContentType = "application/json"; That just returns the XML but the browser attempts to process it like a JSON object instead of serializing the response as JSON. Is this even possible with .NET 3.5 outside of using a Stream as the return value and serializing the response myself? If not, is there a better solution?

Multiple XADES signature / get original document

For multiple signature i mean not countersignature, but a double independent sign to the same document, the resulting signature will have 2 or more signature object. Setup SSL (self signed cert) with tomcat

Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If I comment out the lines I've added to my web.xml file, the webapp works fine. My log file in /var/lib/tomcat6/logs says nothing. I can't figure out if this is a problem with my keystore file, my server.xml file or my web.xml file.... Any assistance is appreciated I am using tomcat 6 on ubuntu.

Object doesn't support property or method 'transformNode' in Internet Explorer 10 (Windows 8)

I am having some JavaScript issues that seem to only occur in Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 (IE 7, 8, and 9 all work fine). The basic jist of what I am doing is getting XML and XSL from a web service and then transforming them in JavaScript to render on the page using the Sys.Net.XMLDOM object. XMLDOM = Sys.Net.XMLDOM; var xsl = // XSL gotten from somewhere else var xmlString = // XML gotten from somewhere else as a string... var xml = new XMLDOM(xmlString); var content = xml.transformNode(xsl); When I use the above code in IE 10, I get: Object doesn't support property or method 'transformNode' Any ideas on why Internet Explorer 10 is doing this? EDIT I have also tried this: xmldoc = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.DOMDocument"); xmldoc.async = false; xmldoc.load(xml); xsldoc = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.DOMDocument"); xsldoc.async = false; xsldoc.load(xsl); var content = xmldoc.transformNode(xsldoc); Which works in all previous versions of IE, but in IE 10 I get: Reference to undeclared namespace prefix: 'atom'.

RSS2.0 + Publishing in Tomcat + Reading using Google-Ajax-API's

I've published an RSS xml in my tomcat. When I hit the URL, like http://localhost:8080/Proj/rss.xml, I'm able to view the feed. But when I integrate it with Google Ajax Api, I always end up with "Feed could not be loaded." So to test, I downloaded an rss.xml file from a reputed site, put it into my tomcat server and hit the url and it should up, but again when I integrate it with Google's AJAX api, it doesn't load up. Any help!!

web.config transforms not being applied on either publish or build installation package

Today I started playing with the web.config transforms in VS 2010. To begin with, I attempted the same hello world example that features in a lot of the blog posts on this topic - updating a connection string. I created the minimal example shown below (and similar to the one found in this blog). The problem is that whenever I do a right-click - "Publish", or a right-click - "Build Deployment Package" on the .csproj file, I'm not getting the correct output. Rather than a transformed web.config, I'm getting no web.config, and instead the two transform files are included. What am I doing wrong? Any help gratefully received! not getting a page reload when submitting a form on a page

When showing a project, the user can add a decision via a form_for and its partial. Is there some way of avoiding reloading the page and just creating the record silently? In the controller method (adddecision) I have: respond_to do |format| if @decision.save format.html { redirect_to(@project) } format.xml { head :ok } else format.html { render :action => "show" } format.xml { render :xml => decision.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end I've tried redirect_to(:back) etc - still getting a page reload.

Maven Release Plugin with JAXB issues

Hiya, We've got a project set up to use the Maven Release Plugin which includes a phase that unpacks a JAR of XML schemas pulled from Artifactory and a phase that generates XJC classes. We're on maven release 2.2.1. Unfortunately the latter phase is executing before the former which means that it isn't generating the XJC classes for the schema. I am working on a Windows Form that connects to a ASP.NET membership database and I am trying to use the AJAX Login Service. No matter what I do I keep on getting 404 errors on the Authentication_JSON_AppService.axd call.
