  • USB MFP print server that works with Windows x64?

    Right now, we are using the Longshine LCS-MFP101-2 to connect to our MFP device (printer/scanner combo) over LAN. However, the required driver (RMVUSB, Remote Virtual USB) cannot be installed on 64 bit Windows operating systems such as Windows XP x64 or Windows 7 x64. Since the distributor lists the product as "phased out", I do not expect any updated 64 bit drivers any time soon. :/ Because of that, I am searching for a relatively cheap SOHO MFP print server (1 USB port should be enough) which can be used with 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows. Do you have any ideas or recommendations? Thanks!

  • Lenovo ThinkServer TS130 1105 - does 32/64 depend on RAM?

    Just got in a Lenovo ThinkServer TS130 1105 (Xeon E3-1225V1) and a (new, sealed, holographed, looks legit) copy of Windows Server 2008 32/64 (standard) to run on it for a pretty lightweight job (currently handled, adequately, by a terrifyingly old Optima P4 running Windows 2000 server - really lightweight, but long-past-due for replacement, without any particular need or excuse for server 2012...) The 64 bit disc sits there and does nothing. The 32 bit disc boots. I haven't spotted any mention of this in the TS130 Manual (I have now combed it, and find no mention of a need to populate in pairs - a preferred order to populate in, yes, but no mention of pairs being required) but I begin to wonder if it's due to the fact that the 4GB RAM suppled with it was a single DIMM, rather than a pair. Better for upgrading, but perhaps requiring an upgrade (or sidegrade) right away to install the x64 version?? Anyone know? I tried the 64-bit DVD on a desktop with an AMD Athlon II X4 635 processor which normally runs Windows7 in 64 bit, and it booted up just fine.

  • If I double my ram on a x86 processor, does that double the ram I can use for each individual process?

    I don't understand how 32-Bit OS's use RAM on a per process basis. I've read the max RAM my x86 processor running a 32-bit OS can use is 2^32 = 4gb; but that's just for one process, right? 3DS Max keeps crashing, but it typically can never use more than 2GB of RAM before it crashes, if I increase my RAM from 4-8GB, would that double how much RAM I can use for each individual process or actually cause no change in my performance? Also would increasing my VRAM and getting a better graphics card increase the extent to which individual programs can preform? Lastly, is there any way to upgrade a 86-bit processor to be able to run a 64-bit OS? I feel like it would be ridiculous to sell modern processors that are capped at 4GB of RAM? Thanks. IE: red: 10 bits green: 10 bits blue: 10 bits total: 30 bits For more information, please consult this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGB_color_model#Beyond_truecolor:_deep_color Radeon 6000 series cards DO support deep color over HDMI, but HDMI also limits the output resolution to 1920x1200, which is not optimal. I want to know if Deep color is possible over display port with the HD6xxx series graphics cards.

    I find myself often visiting the Mail control panel for people I'm helping who use Outlook. However, it never, ever shows up in the start menu for anyones computer: Is there some magic string I can type in to get that menu item? I've tried all the obvious ones: Mail Mail (32-bit) Mail 32 Bit But to no avail. Normally I just go the long way, but with Windows 8 and Metro I'm concerned I'm going to get very frustrated trying to talk users through it over the phone.

Or I'll just need to install all the appls but my files (like pictures and documents) will remain on that hard drive?     I wonder if there is an utility to read and print a (binary) file, shifted by some amount of bits (i mean, it should accept amounts, which are not divisible by 8). .. something like dd (and its skip option), but bit-wise, instead of byte-wise. (If you think that there is no such thing, and are going to implement it here, please use C.. i have my own bit-shifting thing for strings, written in Python, but it is surely relatively slow as hell)

    I understand the 32 bit Vista limit in addressing only 4Gb of memory space but I have a very specific question: I have 3Gb installed on a Vista 32 bit system with a 512Mb video card, MSI X-58 board, Intel i7, 920 CPU. System Information currently shows: Installed Memory: 3.00Gb Available Physical Memory: 1.73 Gb My understanding is that the 512Mb video card occupies memory addresses between 4.0Gb and 3.5Gb and so does not subtract from the 3.0Gb of physical memory (correct my understanding if wrong) My Question: If I install another 1Gb of RAM, will my Available Memory increase to 2.73Gb? "A distributed system consists of multiple autonomous computers that communicate through a computer network."     Hi. I've been thinking about a program logic, but I cannot draw a conclusion to my problem. Here, I've implemented stack and queue operations to a fixed array. int A[1000]; int size=1000; int top; int front; int rear; bool StackIsEmpty() { return (top==0); } bool StackPush( int x ) { if ( top >= size ) return false; A[top++] = x; return true; } int StackTop( ) { return A[top-1]; } bool StackPop() { if ( top <= 0 ) return false; A[--top] = 0; return true; } bool QueueIsEmpty() { return (front==rear); } bool QueuePush( int x ) { if ( rear >= size ) return false; A[rear++] = x; return true; } int QueueFront( ) { return A[front]; } bool QueuePop() { if ( front >= rear ) return false; A[front++] = 0; return true; } It is presumed(or obvious) that the bottom of the stack and the front of the queue is pointing at the same location, and vice versa(top of the stack points the same location as rear of the queue). For example, integer 1 and 2 is inside an array in order of writing. And if I call StackPop(), the integer 2 will be popped out, and if I call QueuePop(), the integer 1 will be popped out. My problem is that I don't know what happens if I do both stack and queue operations on the same array. The example above is easy to work out, because there are only two values involved. But what if there are more than 2 values involved? For example, if I call StackPush(1); QueuePush(2); QueuePush(4); StackPop(); StackPush(5); QueuePop(); what values will be returned in the order of bottom(front) from the final array? I know that if I code a program, I would receive a quick answer. But the reason I'm asking this is because I want to hear a logical explanations from a human being, not a computer.
