  • Iphone sdk - please help , 1 view takes me 45 minutes to do :(

    - by Dave
Hey, I've been working on a Cook Book App but each view ( or recipie page) takes about 45 minutes to complete so as you can imagine its taking forever. The problem is that I have to manually: Set up a gradient image for the back ground (Somtimes I have to add a few image backgrounds to fit the view as I often use a scroll view, not sure how this could be automated?) Put an image behind the titles "Recipe name" , "Time needed" and an image to go behind the recipie instructions ( again I might need a few of these depending on how long the description is. Creating view controllers for main sections such as "Breakfast" and "Lunch" and then I need to manually create view controllers to go in these sections. Theres got to be a way to set up a template for this? Thanks for reading all of this.

  • Emulate disk IO speeds in Android SDK

    - by Ben L.
I don't have a physical Android device to work with, so all I can use is the emulator. I'm wondering if there's something I could use to make the IO speeds more realistic - How do I slow down disk access to the speed it would be on a physical device? Also, this may be unrelated, but when I change the speed and latency options in Eclipse ADT DDMS view, I don't notice any change in internet speed on the emulator. Is this a bug?

  • Weird ViewControllers - iPhone SDK

    - by Kevin
Hello everyone, I have a Tab-Bar Application for this iPhone application I am making. I make a simple button on the 3rd view (3rd tab), and give it an IBAction to give an alert view. When I press build and go, everything works out fine. I go onto the 3rd tab, and I press my button. It simply crashes... Why is this happening? Everything I put in this 3rd tab crashes. I create a simple view controller, and write the class files to start over, but I keep getting the same errors.. Everything works fine on my first tab, where I originally got the first view controller.. P.S It also says Incomplete Implementation of Class 'ThirdViewController'. I don't know why its there.. If anyone can help me out here, i would greatly appreciate it. Kevin

  • iPhone SDK Objective-C __DATE__ (compile date) can't be converted to an NSDate

    - by Janice
//NSString *compileDate = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s", __DATE__]; NSString *compileDate = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:__DATE__]; NSDateFormatter *df = [[[NSDateFormatter alloc] init] autorelease]; [df setDateFormat:@"MMM d yyyy"]; //[df setDateFormat:@"MMM dd yyyy"]; NSDate *aDate = [df dateFromString:compileDate]; Ok, I give up. Why would aDate sometimes return as nil? Should it matter if I use the commented-out lines... or their matching replacement lines?

  • Creating a standard card game (iPhone SDK)

    - by Chris
I am trying to create a card game with a standard deck of cards. I need to be able to create a new card on screen every time someone draws a card from the deck and then be able to continuously move it throughout gameplay. I have image files for every card available in the game. I have tried creating a card object which held a UIImageView for the card along with some other basic data but I had trouble referring back to that card to move it again after the first touch. Was this the right way to do this?

  • Detect second tap on tableview cell iphone sdk

    - by neha
Hi all, In my application, I'm expanding a tableview row when it's tapped. I'm using - (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated { [super setSelected:selected animated:animated]; if( selected == YES ) { [self expandRow]; } else { [self contractRow]; } height = [lblFeed frame].size.height + 75; } to achieve that. So when a row is tapped, this function automatically gets the signal of row tap and it sets the selected=YES. Now when I tap the same expanded row, it still sets selected=YES. I want to detect the second tap and contract the row. How shall I do that while using the same function?

  • iPhone SDK math - pythagorean theorem problem!

    - by Flafla2
Just as a practice, I am working on an app that solves the famous middle school pythagorean theorem, a squared + b squared = c squared. Unfortunately, the out-coming answer has, in my eyes, nothing to do with the actual answer. Here is the code used during the "solve" action. - (IBAction)solve { int legoneint; int legtwoint; int hypotenuseint; int lonesq = legoneint * legoneint; int ltwosq = legtwoint * legtwoint; int hyposq = hypotenuseint * hypotenuseint; hyposq = lonesq + ltwosq; if ([legone.text isEqual:@""]) { legtwoint = [legtwo.text intValue]; hypotenuseint = [hypotenuse.text intValue]; answer.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", legoneint]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; } if ([legtwo.text isEqual:@""]) { legoneint = [legone.text intValue]; hypotenuseint = [hypotenuse.text intValue]; answer.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", legtwoint]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; } if ([hypotenuse.text isEqual:@""]) { legoneint = [legone.text intValue]; legtwoint = [legtwo.text intValue]; answer.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", hypotenuseint]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; } } By the way, legone, legtwo, and hypotenuse all represent the UITextField that corresponds to each mathematical part of the right triangle. Answer is the UILabel that tells, you guessed it, the answer. Does anyone see any flaws in the program? Thanks in advance!

  • iPhone SDK: App crashing when trying to scroll through table

    - by iPhone Developer
I have a view controller with a table on it. When the app starts, it loads the first 5 visble cells. That works as expected. My problem is that, when I try to scroll down the app crashes with this error. Any help appreciated. 2010-06-06 12:25:42.547 iphoneos[18238:207] * -[NSCFString tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x451a980 2010-06-06 12:25:42.549 iphoneos[18238:207] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '** -[NSCFString tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x451a980' Here is my code to load cells. • iPhone SDK: Switching to one view then back to previous view errors

    - by Nic Hubbard
I have a UITabBarConroller that I use to switch between 3 different views. This all works perfectly. On one of my tabs, I added a button at the to called "Add", I have added an outlet to this, as well as an IBAction method which looks like the following: // Method used to load up view where we can add a new ride - (IBAction)showAddNewRideView { MyRidesViewController *controller = [[MyRidesViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"AddNewRide" bundle:nil]; controller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleCoverVertical; [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; }//end showAddNewRideView This currently works fine, and loads up my AddNewRide nib file. But, once that view loads, I have a cancel button, which, when clicked, I want to return to the previous view. So, I figured I would just do the reverse of the above, using the following method which would load back my previous nib: - (IBAction)cancelAddingNewRide { MyRidesViewController *controller = [[MyRidesViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainWindow" bundle:nil]; controller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleCoverVertical; [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; }//end cancelAddingNewRide But, which trying to load the MainWindow nib, the program crashes, and I get the following error: 2010-05-05 20:24:37.211 Ride[6032:207] *** -[MyRidesViewController cancelAddingNewRide]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x501e450 2010-05-05 20:24:37.213 Ride[6032:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[MyRidesViewController cancelAddingNewRide]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x501e450' So, I am a little lost as to why it would work one way, but not the other.

  • MediaFileUpload of HTML in UTF-8 encoding using Python and Google-Drive-SDK

    - by Victoria
Looking for example using MediaFileUpload has a reference to the basic documentation for creating/uploading a file to Google Drive. However, while I have code that creates files, converting from HTML to Google Doc format. It works perfectly when they contain only ASCII characters, but when I add a non-ASCII character, it fails, with the following traceback: Traceback (most recent call last): File "d:\my\py\ckwort.py", line 949, in <module> rids, worker_documents = analyze( meta, gd ) File "d:\my\py\ckwort.py", line 812, in analyze gd.mkdir( **iy ) File "d:\my\py\ckwort.py", line 205, in mkdir self.create( **( kw['subop'])) File "d:\my\py\ckwort.py", line 282, in create media_body=kw['media_body'], File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\oauth2client\util.py", line 120, in positional_wrapper return wrapped(*args, **kwargs) File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\apiclient\http.py", line 676, in execute headers=self.headers) File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\oauth2client\util.py", line 120, in positional_wrapper return wrapped(*args, **kwargs) File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\oauth2client\client.py", line 420, in new_request redirections, connection_type) File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\httplib2\__init__.py", line 1597, in request (response, content) = self._request(conn, authority, uri, request_uri, method, body, headers, redirections, cachekey) File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\httplib2\__init__.py", line 1345, in _request (response, content) = self._conn_request(conn, request_uri, method, body, headers) File "D:\my\py\gdrive2\httplib2\__init__.py", line 1282, in _conn_request conn.request(method, request_uri, body, headers) File "C:\Python27\lib\httplib.py", line 958, in request self._send_request(method, url, body, headers) File "C:\Python27\lib\httplib.py", line 992, in _send_request self.endheaders(body) File "C:\Python27\lib\httplib.py", line 954, in endheaders self._send_output(message_body) File "C:\Python27\lib\httplib.py", line 812, in _send_output msg += message_body UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 370: ordinal not in range(128) I don't find any parameter to use to specify what file encoding should be used by MediaFileUpload (My files are using UTF-8). Am I missing something?
