  • Moving OVD from Test to Production

    - by mark.wilcox
Customer asked support "How to move a test OVD server to production". There is a couple of ways to do this. One way is to clone the environment: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/testprod.htm#CH... Another way - which is particularly useful if you want to push configuration from a parent OVD server to children in a cluster: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/oid.1111/e10046/basic_server_set... Note if you use the second option and you have any data in a Local Store Adapter - you may also need to use the oidcmprec tool to synchronize that data: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/oid.1111/e10029/replic_mng_mon.h... • AVD Failed to Load ~ Failed to Parse Properties ~ Mac OSX

    - by C.D. OKeefe
I'm going to say upfront, please forgive me. I'm a newbie to android development and fairly new to programming. Also on a Mac. You're going to have to talk...real...slow. I can't get an AVD to load. I've tried it from Eclipse and from the Android SDK Manager. Failed multiple times. Received the same error each time, "Failed to parse properties from Users/myname/.android/avd/nameIGaveEmulator/config.ini." I've the forum here and saw that others have had similar problems, but of the answers given, no one came back to say if they worked, and I don't see anyone with a similar problem on a Mac. If the path needs to be "changed" what exactly does that mean and how do I go about doing so?

  • I think I deleted my windows

    - by Deltak
I tried to intall backtrack using a bootable cd. I think I clicked the option and it overwrote my windows 7. How do I get that back? I do not have a windows restore cd. Backtrack did not actually install at the time it stated there was a problem at 24% I then tried to get into Windows after shutting down and OS never booted up again. Does this mean I lost all my documents and programs? Can I call the company that sold my laptop to and get a bootable CD? Thank you.

  • Installing driver for Ralink Realtek 8187 WiFi adapter

    - by capcom
I purchased a WiFi adapter online, and it came with an installation CD with drivers. I installed it just fine on Windows, and am now trying on Ubuntu 10.10. The CD came with the driver files for Linux as well, but I have no idea why they aren't working - my guess is that I don't properly understand what to do with them. I have uploaded the contents of the folder which came with the CD here. There is a README in there, but the instructions under the installation header didn't get me anywhere unfortunately. The Device ID is: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. Thanks.

  • How do I recover my accidentally lost Windows partitions after installing Ubuntu?

    - by Totally newbie
I have a Toshiba satellite A-200 laptop with a Vista OS on it with 4 NTFS partitions (C:) Vista (D:) Entertainment (E:) Work (F:) Sources and I wanted to start using Ubuntu instead. So I tried it first from the live CD and everything was OK and all the partitions were shown and working and so I decided to install Ubuntu to replace Vista on the (C:) drive. After I did that I can no longer find my folders and files on the (D:), (E:), (F:) partitions and the only file system that is shown is one 198 GB although my HDD is 320 GB. I can't access the lost data on the remaining 120 GB which I hope is still there and not totally lost I am now working from the live CD but I am unable to install testdisk. Can I recover the Vista partitions by the product recovery CD to get my laptop back to the factory settings? Can I recover the NTFS partitions using a recovery program for Windows or will that make the problem worse? I need these data badly as I don't have a backup for them.

  • Wipe, Delete, and Securely Destroy Your Hard Drive’s Data the Easy Way

    - by The Geek
Giving a computer to somebody else? Maybe you’re putting it out on Craigslist to sell to a stranger—either way, you’ll want to make sure that your drive is completely wiped, scrubbed, and clean of any personal data. Here’s the easy way to do it. If you only have access to an Ubuntu Live CD or thumb drive, you can actually use that instead if you prefer, and we’ve got you covered with a full guide to securely wiping your PC’s hard drive. Otherwise, keep reading. Wipe the Drive with DBAN Darik’s Boot and Nuke CD is the easiest way to permanently and totally destroy every bit of personal information on that drive—nobody is going to recover a thing once this is done. The first thing you’ll need to do is download a copy of the ISO image, and then burn it to a blank CD with something really useful like Imgburn. Just choose Burn image to Disc at the start screen, select the little file icon, grab the downloaded ISO, and then go. If you need a little more help, we’ve got you covered with a beginner’s guide to burning an ISO image. Once you’re done, stick the disc into the drive, start the PC up, and then once you boot to the DBAN prompt you’ll see a menu. You can pretty much ignore everything on here, and just type… autonuke And there you are, your disk is now being securely wiped. Once it’s all done, you can remove the CD, and then either pack the PC up to sell, or re-install Windows on there if you feel like it. More Advanced Method If you’re really paranoid, want to run a different type of wipe, or just like fiddling with the options, you can choose F3 or hit Enter at the prompt to head to the advanced selection screen. Here you can choose exactly which drive to wipe, or hit the M key to change the method. You’ll be able to choose between a bunch of different wipe options. The Quick Erase is all you really need though.   So there you are, easy PC wiping in one package. What about you? Do you make sure to wipe your old PCs before giving them away? Personally I’ve always just yanked out the hard drives before I got rid of an old PC, but that’s just me. • Beginner Geek: How to Burn an ISO Image to a Disc

    - by Mysticgeek
There may be a time when you have an ISO image that you need to burn to a CD or DVD for use in a computer or other device. Today we show you how to do it using ImgBurn, ISO Recorder, and Windows Disc Image Burner in Windows 7. You might need to burn an ISO of an operating system, software app, CD, DVD…etc. It doesn’t matter what the ISO image is, burning an image is a fairly straight-forward process and here we’ll take a look at three free options to accomplish it. Using ImgBurn ImgBurn is an awesome free utility that will create ISO images, allow out burn almost anything, and a lot more. Although there are a lot advanced features available, burning an ISO to disc is easy. Download and install ImgBurn (link below) taking the defaults in the install wizard. The main thing to watch for and uncheck during installation is when it offers the worthless Ask Toolbar. The easiest way to use ImgBurn is to burn an image to disc is pop in a blank disc to the CD/DVD drive, right-click on the ISO file, and select Burn using ImgBurn. ImgBurn opens up with the source and destination fields already filled in. You can leave the default settings, then click the Write button. You’ll notice that the ImgBurn Log screen opens, this is by default and is meant to show error messages you may receive during the writing process.   A successful burn! That is all there is to it…click Ok and close out of ImgBurn. Use ISO Recorder ISO Recorder (link below) is another great utility for burning ISO images to disc. They have a version for XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (32 & 64-bit Versions). Pop your blank disc into your CD/DVD drive and right-click on the ISO image file and select Copy image to CD from the Context Menu. In the next screen the image file path is in the Source Image file field. Under Recorder select the drive with your blank disc, select a recording speed and click Next. You’ll see a progress screen while the data is written to the disc and finalizing… That’s it! Your disc will pop out and you can click Finish to close out of ISO Recorder. Use Windows 7 If You’re using Windows 7, use the built in Windows Disc Image Burner feature to burn ISO images to disc. The process is very straight-forward, and for a full walkthrough on this, check out our article on how to burn an ISO image in Windows 7. Conclusion You don’t need an expensive commercial application to burn an ISO image to disc. Using any one of these free utilities will get the job done quite nicely. • Playing NSF music in FMOD.net

    - by Tesserex
So, as the title says, I want to be able to play NSF files using FMOD, because my project already uses FMOD and I'd rather not replace it. This will involve figuring out how existing players and emulators work and porting it. I haven't yet found an existing player that uses FMOD. My starting point is the MyNes source from http://sourceforge.net/projects/mynes/. There are two big steps between here and what I'm looking for. MyNes plays from a ROM, not NSF. So, I have to rip out the APU and get it to play NSF files. The MyNes APU uses SlimDX, so I have to convert that to FMOD.NET. I am really stuck about how to go about either of these, because I'm not that familiar with audio formats and it's hard finding resources online. So here are a few questions: From what I can tell from the NSF spec at http://kevtris.org/nes/nsfspec.txt, it's just contains the relevant memory section of the ROM, plus the header. If anyone can verify or correct this that would be great. The emulator APU uses data from the rest of the emulator to play, including things like cycle counts. I'm not sure what replaces this in a standalone player. Can't I just load all the music data at once into a stream and play it? Joining #1 and #2, does the header data from the NSF substitute for some of the ROM data in the emulator code? Using FMOD, will I be following the usercreatedsound example for loading a stream? And does this format count as PCM? Specifically MyNes says PCM8. Any tips on loading / playing the stream in FMOD are appreciated. As an aside, I don't really understand the loading / playing sections of the spec I linked at all. It seems to apply to 6502 systems / emulators only and not to my situation. I know it's a long shot for anyone here to have enough experience in this area to help, but anything you can provide is definitely appreciated. A link to an existing .NET library that does this would be even better, but I don't believe one exists.

  • How can I determine which GPU card is running at PCI Express 2.0 x16 & which is using x8?

    - by M. Tibbits
Is there a way to determine the speed of the PCI Express connection to a specific card? I have three cards plugged in: two Nvidia GTX 480's (one at x16 & and one at x8) one Nvidia GTX 460 running at x8 Is there some way, either by a function call in C or an option to lspci that I can determine the bus speed of the graphics cards? When I only use one of the cards for my CUDA program, I'd like to use the one which is running at x16. Thanks! Note: lspci -vvv dumps out For the two GTX 480s. I don't see any differences that pertain to bus speed. 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 06c0 (rev a3) Subsystem: eVga.com. Corp. • disable intel gpu in ubuntu 12.04

    - by small_potato
I am wondering if there is anything to disable the intel gpu on ubuntu 12.04. I want to be able to setup dual monitor using nvidia-settings. It seems the intel gpu is used for display as suggested by sudo lshw -c display the output is *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: NVIDIA Corporation vendor: NVIDIA Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0 version: a1 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=nvidia latency=0 resources: irq:16 memory:c0000000-c0ffffff memory:90000000-9fffffff memory:a0000000-a1ffffff ioport:4000(size=128) memory:a2000000-a207ffff *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Haswell Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 06 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:47 memory:c2000000-c23fffff memory:b0000000-bfffffff ioport:5000(size=64) I have a lenovoY410 with GT750M. It seems there is no way to turn off the intel gpu in bios either. Help please. Thanks.

  • Python Fabric error

    - by jwesonga
I'm running fabric (Django deployment to apache) and everything seems to work fine until I get to the task for installing the site: def install_site(): "Add the virtualhost file to apache" require('release', provided_by=[deploy, setup]) sudo('cd %(path)/releases/%(release)/%(release); cp %(project_name)/%(virtualhost_path)/%(project_domain) /etc/apache2/sites-available/%(project_domain)s') sudo('cd /etc/apache2/sites-available; a2ensite %(project_domain)') I keep getting this error: [173.203.124.16] sudo: cd %(path)/releases/%(release)/%(release); [173.203.124.16] err: /bin/bash: -c: line 0: syntax error near unexpected token `(' [173.203.124.16] err: /bin/bash: -c: line 0: `cd %(path)/releases/%(release)/%(r elease);' Warning: sudo() encountered an error (return code 2) while executing 'cd %(path) /releases/%(release)/%(release);' I've gone through the fabfile.py over and over and I can't see why the error is coming...any ideas?

  • How to install PySide v0.3.1 on Mac OS X?

    - by ivo
I'm trying to install PySide v0.3.1 in Mac OS X, for Qt development in python. As a pre-requisite, I have installed CMake and the Qt SDK. I have gone through the documentation and come up with the following installation script: export PYSIDE_BASE_DIR="<my_dir>" export APIEXTRACTOR_DIR="$PYSIDE_BASE_DIR/apiextractor-0.5.1" export GENERATORRUNNER_DIR="$PYSIDE_BASE_DIR/generatorrunner-0.4.2" export SHIBOKEN_DIR="$PYSIDE_BASE_DIR/shiboken-0.3.1" export PYSIDE_DIR="$PYSIDE_BASE_DIR/pyside-qt4.6+0.3.1" export PYSIDE_TOOLS_DIR="$PYSIDE_BASE_DIR/pyside-tools-0.1.3" pushd . cd $APIEXTRACTOR_DIR cmake . cd $GENERATORRUNNER_DIR cmake -DApiExtractor_DIR=$APIEXTRACTOR_DIR . cd $SHIBOKEN_DIR cmake -DApiExtractor_DIR=$APIEXTRACTOR_DIR -DGeneratorRunner_DIR=$GENERATORRUNNER_DIR . cd $PYSIDE_DIR cmake -DShiboken_DIR=$SHIBOKEN_DIR/libshiboken -DGENERATOR=$GENERATORRUNNER_DIR . cd $PYSIDE_TOOLS_DIR cmake . popd Now, I don't know if this installation script is ok, but apparently everything works fine. Each component (apiextractor, generatorrunner, shiboken, pyside-qt and pyside-tools) gets compiled into its own directory. The problem is that I don't quite understand how PySide gets into the system's python environment. In fact, when I start a python shell, I cannot import PySide: >>> import PySide Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named PySide Note: I am aware of the Installing PySide - OSX question, but that question is not relevant anymore, because it is about a specific a dependency on the Boost libraries, but with version 0.3.0 PySide moved from a Boost based source code to a CPython one.

  • UTF-8 to Unicode conversion

    - by sandeep
    Hi, I am having problems with converting UTF-8 to Unicode. Below is the code: int charset_convert( char * string, char * to_string,char* charset_from, char* charset_to) { char *from_buf, *to_buf, *pointer; size_t inbytesleft, outbytesleft, ret; size_t TotalLen; iconv_t cd; if (!charset_from || !charset_to || !string) /* sanity check */ return -1; if (strlen(string) < 1) return 0; /* we are done, nothing to convert */ cd = iconv_open(charset_to, charset_from); /* Did I succeed in getting a conversion descriptor ? */ if (cd == (iconv_t)(-1)) { /* I guess not */ printf("Failed to convert string from %s to %s ", charset_from, charset_to); return -1; } from_buf = string; inbytesleft = strlen(string); /* allocate max sized buffer, assuming target encoding may be 4 byte unicode */ outbytesleft = inbytesleft *4 ; pointer = to_buf = (char *)malloc(outbytesleft); memset(to_buf,0,outbytesleft); memset(pointer,0,outbytesleft); ret = iconv(cd, &from_buf, &inbytesleft, &pointer, &outbytesleft);ing memcpy(to_string,to_buf,(pointer-to_buf); } main(): int main() { char UTF []= {'A', 'B'}; char Unicode[1024]= {0}; char* ptr; int x=0; iconv_t cd; charset_convert(UTF,Unicode,"UTF-8","UNICODE"); ptr = Unicode; while(*ptr != '\0') { printf("Unicode %x \n",*ptr); ptr++; } return 0; } It should give A and B but i am getting: ffffffff fffffffe 41 Thanks, Sandeep
