  • Passing values across pages ASP.net

    Hi i need to pass a long list of Ids from one page to another, i was thinking of using querystring but taking in consideration that the number of ids to be passed may reach 300 i think is not a good idea. an option from my understanding may be the use of session, this seems to me an optimal solution in my case but on the other hand I can certainly clear the session when the user performs a certain action and the list of ids is not longer needed, but if the user leaves the page without performing any action i want to clear the session, how can i do it? If multiple users are using the same functionality do i need the session's items to be confused or the session is for a single user? I am working in asp.net c# Thanks

    I'm trying to write an acceptance test using WatiN which checks that a user is redirected to the login page if they navigate to a page after their session times out. I'm using WatiN's IE class for the browser, and trying the following: // 1. Login // 2. Do this: Browser.ClearCookies(); Browser.ClearCache(); // 3. Navigate to a different page But the user is always still logged in. Other info: I'm running the test through the NUnit GUI running as an administrator It's an ASP.NET MVC 3 site, using forms authentication and in-process session state I'm using IE9. If I manually clear all cookies in Chrome, the user is logged out If I manually clear all cookies in IE the user stays logged in If I call Browser.Eval("alert(document.cookie)"); in IE it alerts an empty string Given the above, I'm assuming this is a quirk with IE; any ideas how I can work around it?

    My App requires Daily reports based on various user activities. My current design does not sum the daily totals in database, which means I must compute them everytime. For example A report that shows Top 100 users based on the number of submissions they have made on a given day. For such a report If I have 50,000 users, what is the best way to create daily report? How to create monthly and yearly report with such data? If this is not a good design, then how to deal with such design decision when the metrics of the report are not clear during db design and by the time it is clear we already have huge data with limited parameters (fields). Please advice.

  • Problems getting PowerPoint Combobox to list items correctly

    I am creating a PowerPoint in which I want users to be able to select an item from a list in a combo box. Nothing needs to happen after this, it is just to provide a record, on screen, of their choice. My problem is that I seem to either be able to populate the combo box and users can select an item but the list gets longer each time the combobox is clicked on (i.e each time it is clicked on the list gets duplicated). Or alternatively, I can clear the combo box, then populate it but in this scenario, the users choice also seems to get cleared. Here is xaml from my View and code from my ViewModel <Button Grid.Column="0" Content="Clear" IsEnabled="False" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.Command="{Binding ClearCommand}" /> public RelayCommand ClearCommand { get { return new RelayCommand(() => MessageBox.Show("Clear Command")); } } Notice I hardcoded the IsEnabled="False" in my xaml. This value is completely ignored (button always enabled). I realize that RelayCommand have a CanExecute overload but I did want to use this as I want to do more than just have a disabled button.

    So I'm trying to append a char to a char*. For example I have char *word = " "; I also have char ch = 'x'; I do append(word, ch); Using this method.. void append(char* s, char c) { int len = strlen(s); s[len] = c; s[len+1] = '\0'; } It gives me a segmentation fault, and I understand why I suppose. Because s[len] is out of bounds. How do I make it so it works? I need to clear the char* a lot as well, if I were to use something like char word[500]; How would I clear that once it has some characters appended to it? Would the strlen of it always be 500? Thanks in advance.

By this I mean It would have to work the same on majority of high end phones (forget the low cost ones) It would have to simplify the development and hide the ugly details from developer Clear design and good documentation. Also some stability on the market. The focus in on good looking and easy to make GUI. Javascript is only a plus. So basically I am looking for something like jQuery or maybe ExtJS for phone development. EDIT: It would be a big plus if it could be consumed in Delphi EDIT 2: If it was not clear, I am looking for a web base solution. So the target is HTML output and not native code.

    Like the title states, does anyone out there have a clear way to implement this type of functionality? Example: If you go to http://weewar.com, in their front page you noticed an ajax module that updates every second. However, all of the new items are added to the top of the list. My question is around that very same functionality. Does anyone have an easy and clear idea as to how one would implement this functionality? So far I have a method that initially creates the list, then another method is called in an interval that pulls the most recent data from the server.. However, I'm stuck with, how can I add the new dynamic node to the top of the list. If you can guide me to where I can find this information or give me an idea as to how I can implement this I will be very happy and grateful :) Thanks in advanced.

    How does apache handle caching of certain files, and is it possible to explicitly say that certain files should be aggressively cached more than others, through the standard config files for a given host or virtualhost? To put it in context, I keep a lot of site content in various XML files, and I'd like to be able to say that this file will be used a lot, and therefore cache it as much as possible..? Does apache do this kind of thing intelligently and on the fly..? Will it observe which files are more popular than others and try to match cache hits appropriately..? Lots of questions in one, but the basic idea should be clear enough. edit: to be clear, these are resource files which are loaded and interpreted by PHP - but php as a process is spawned inside apache.. right? Please help!

If I use delete afterwards, will default destructor ~ChartLine() properly dealocate (or clear) member ChartLine::line(which is vector btw) or I would have to clear that vector in ~ChartLine() manually?     I'm interested in presenting results faster in my mobile app. Is it possible to stream results out as the string downloads? I'm thinking about implementing an IObservable to push out the results as they are downloaded, but I don't know what algorithm to use to properly piece together the data which could be incomplete at any given point. Hope that was clear enough. CLARIFICATION: Guess it wasn't clear enough. My issue is the string downloaded is quite long. It can often take 15-20 seconds or more to download. I want to reflect changes faster to my user, so I would like to use reactive extensions to pump out entities as soon as a complete one is received. My issue is I dont know how to build the parser that can pick out complete entities from an incomplete response string.
