  • using Eclipse to develop for embedded Linux on a Windows host

    - by Travis
I got a question of using Eclipse to develop for embedded Linux on a Windows host Here are now I have and where I am. 1. a Windows host that have the latest Eclipse + CDT (c/c++ development tools) installed 2. a Ubuntu host (ssh + samba installed) that contains sources and toolschain to build the project. (the windows and ubuntu hosts are sitting within one network segment (In LAN).) 3. I can use the following commands to build this project under Ubuntu. # chroot dummyroot # cd /home/project/Build # sh Build date +%Y%m%d%H%M%S 4. I am now trying to create an eclipse C++ project to achieve the goad of the step 3, but I have been stuck here for a while. any ideas of how it can be done?

  • Splitting a C++ class into files now won't compile.

    - by vgm64
Hi. I am teaching myself to write classes in C++ but can't seem to get the compilation to go through. If you can help me figure out not just how, but why, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Here are my three files: make_pmt.C #include <iostream> #include "pmt.h" using namespace std; int main() { CPMT *pmt = new CPMT; pmt->SetVoltage(900); pmt->SetGain(2e6); double voltage = pmt->GetVoltage(); double gain= pmt->GetGain(); cout << "The voltage is " << voltage << " and the gain is " << gain << "." <<endl; return 0; } pmt.C #include "pmt.h" using namespace std; class CPMT { double gain, voltage; public: double GetGain() {return gain;} double GetVoltage() {return voltage;} void SetGain(double g) {gain=g;} void SetVoltage(double v) {voltage=v;} }; pmt.h #ifndef PMT_H #define PMT_H 1 using namespace std; class CPMT { double gain, voltage; public: double GetGain(); double GetVoltage(); void SetGain(double g); void SetVoltage(double v); }; #endif And for reference, I get a linker error (right?): Undefined symbols: "CPMT::GetVoltage()", referenced from: _main in ccoYuMbH.o "CPMT::GetGain()", referenced from: _main in ccoYuMbH.o "CPMT::SetVoltage(double)", referenced from: _main in ccoYuMbH.o "CPMT::SetGain(double)", referenced from: _main in ccoYuMbH.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

  • Why does C++ linking use virtually no CPU?

    - by John
On a native C++ project, linking right now can take a minute or two, yet during this time CPU drops from 100% during compilation to virtually zero. Does this mean linking is primarily a disk activity? If so, is this the main area an SSD would make big changes? But, why aren't all my OBJ files (or as many as possible) kept in RAM after compilation to avoid this? With 4Gb of RAM I should be able to save a lot of disk access and make it CPU-bound again, no?

  • Accessing C++ methods from Csharp

    - by Code Smack
Hello, I have a string with CompressedRichText in it. I want to uncompressed it to standard RTF and then to plain Text. I am using VS 2008 C# Windows Application. I found references to C++ code to do it, but nothing directly in C#. I found some info at this site on the C++ part, but I have no idea how to use this from my C# code. What do I need to do in order to access the methods in the C++ code from my C# project. Link to the C++ Code http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb905295.aspx Thanks!

    I want photo inside the imageview should not go outside on dragging. In my code when i start to drag bitmap inside the imageview its goes out from imageview but i want when it cross the imageview its should come at starting point of imageview. How to achieve this. please help me for this. @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { super.onDraw(canvas); canvas.save(); scaleCount=scaleCount+scale; angleCount = addAngle(angleCount, Math.toDegrees(angle)); Log.v("Positions", "X: "+x+" " + "Y: "+y); Log.d("ScaleCount", String.valueOf(scaleCount)); Log.d("Angle", String.valueOf(angleCount)); if (!isInitialized) { int w = getWidth(); int h = getHeight(); position.set(w / 2, h / 2); isInitialized = true; } Paint paint = new Paint(); Log.v("Height and Width", "Height: "+ getHeight() + "Width: "+ getWidth()); transform.reset(); transform.postTranslate(-width / 2.0f, -height / 2.0f); transform.postRotate((float) Math.toDegrees(angle)); transform.postScale(scale, scale); transform.postTranslate(position.getX(), position.getY()); canvas.drawBitmap(bitmap, transform, paint); canvas.restore(); BitmapWidth=BitmapWidth+bitmap.getScaledWidth(canvas); BitmapHeight=BitmapHeight+bitmap.getScaledHeight(canvas); try { /*paint.setColor(0xFF007F00); canvas.drawCircle(vca.getX(), vca.getY(), 30, paint); paint.setColor(0xFF7F0000); canvas.drawCircle(vcb.getX(), vcb.getY(), 30, paint);*/ /*paint.setColor(0xFFFF0000); canvas.drawLine(vpa.getX(), vpa.getY(), vpb.getX(), vpb.getY(), paint); paint.setColor(0xFF00FF00); canvas.drawLine(vca.getX(), vca.getY(), vcb.getX(), vcb.getY(), paint);*/ } catch(NullPointerException e) { // Just being lazy here... } } @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { vca = null; vcb = null; vpa = null; vpb = null; x=event.getX(); y=event.getY(); try { touchManager.update(event); if (touchManager.getPressCount() == 1) { vca = touchManager.getPoint(0); vpa = touchManager.getPreviousPoint(0); position.add(touchManager.moveDelta(0)); } else { if (touchManager.getPressCount() == 2) { vca = touchManager.getPoint(0); vpa = touchManager.getPreviousPoint(0); vcb = touchManager.getPoint(1); vpb = touchManager.getPreviousPoint(1); VMVector2D current = touchManager.getVector(0, 1); VMVector2D previous = touchManager.getPreviousVector(0, 1); float currentDistance = current.getLength(); float previousDistance = previous.getLength(); if (currentDistance-previousDistance != 0) { scale *= currentDistance / previousDistance; } angle -= VMVector2D.getSignedAngleBetween(current, previous); /*angleCount=angleCount+angle;*/ } } invalidate(); } catch(Exception exception) { // Log.d("VM", exception.getMessage()); } return true; }

  • I want to compile a batch file into an exe using c++, i can get through parsing the batch file and w

    - by Nareshkumar Rao
Ok, here's the thing, I am creating an application in DevC++ that will read in a batch file. then, one by one parsing it using: system(getline(myfile, line)); After setting everything up, I save the newly created file as "main.cpp". The problem is, I want to compile it into an exe, from my program, for the end user. So basically, I'm asking whether I can compile a C++ file from a C++ Exe..

  • Can you call compiled JRuby classes from java?

    - by John Baker
So I came up with the general idea to write some code in JRuby, then access all the classes via Java. I have no idea if this is at all possible but I wanted to ask anyway. Lets say I have some JRuby code: class adder def addme return 22 end end If I compiled this with jrubyc is there any way I could then possibly do something like this in java: import adder; class anything { void testMethod() { adder a = new adder(); int x = a.addme(); } } After looking at it now it sort of makes me think that Java will have zero idea what sort of item test addme is going to return so that might not work. I don't know but I wanted to throw it out there anyway. Thanks

  • C# properties: How are they instantiated?

    - by Pedery
Hi! This might be a pretty straightforward question, but I'm trying to understand some of the internal workings of the compilation. Very simply put, imagine an arbitrary object being instantiated. This object is then allocated on the heap. The object has a property of type PointF (which is value type), with a get and a set method. Imagine the get and the set method containing a few calculations for doing their work. How and where (stack/heap) and when is this code instantiated? This is the background for this question: I'm writing get and set methods for an object and these methods need to be accessed very frequently. The get and set code in itself is rather massive so I feared that in a worst case scenario the methods would be instantiated as an object or a value type with all internal code for every access of the property. On the other hand the code is probably instantiated when the main object is created and the CPU is simply told to jmp to the property code start. Anyway, this is what I want to have clarified.

  • Why does C++ linking use virtually no CPU? (updated)

But, why aren't all my OBJ files (or as many as possible) kept in RAM after compilation to avoid this? With 4Gb of RAM I should be able to save a lot of disk access and make it CPU-bound again, no? update: so the obvious follow-up is, can VC++ compiler and linker talk together better to streamline things and keep OBJ files in memory, similar to how Delphi does?

  • If I write a framework that gets information from the Internet, should I make a degelate or use blocks?

    - by Time Machine
Say I'm writing a publicly available framework for the Vimeo API. This framework needs to get information from the Internet. Because this can take some time, I need to use threadin to prevent the UI from hanging. Foundation uses delegates for this, like NSURLConnectionDelegate. However, Game Kit uses blocks as callback functions. What is the recommended way of doing this? I know blocks aren't supported in standard GCC versions, but they require less, much less code for the one that uses my framework. Delegates, on the other hand, are real methods and when protocols are used, I'm sure the methods are implemented. Thanks.

  • Compiling a program with a legacy version of gcc

    - by wyatt
This is probably a very difficult problem to troubleshoot with the information I can practically provide, but I'm hoping someone might be able to at least point me in a possible direction. I'm trying to install HTK (http://htk.eng.cam.ac.uk/), which, according to this page needs to be installed using gcc 3.4. Their method of implementing backwards compatibility: #yum install compat-gcc-34-c++ compat-gcc-34 won't work for me as I'm running Ubuntu (On that note, I take it I can't simply install YUM and the subsequent package, since it's an entirely different distro, but if I'm wrong I'd love to hear it). I instead installed two versions of gcc 3.4 - 3.4.0 and 3.4.6 using instructions from this site. I then added the lines suggested by that page to the top of the makefile (on this note, what's the difference between makefile and makefile.in? I tried adding the lines to the top of both files regardless), both for version 3.4.0 and 3.4.6, but both failed. I also tried, on the off-chance, compiling it with my current version (4.4.1), but that also failed. I got the errors: (cd HTKLib && make HTKLib.a) \ || case "" in k) fail=yes;; ) exit 1;; esac; make1: Entering directory /home/charles/bin/htk-3.4/HTKLib' gcc -ansi -D_SVID_SOURCE -DOSS_AUDIO -D'ARCH="i686"' -Wall -Wno-switch -g -O2 -I. -c -o HGraf.o HGraf.c HGraf.c:73:77: error: X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory HGraf.c:74:23: error: X11/Xutil.h: No such file or directory HGraf.c:75:21: error: X11/Xos.h: No such file or directory HGraf.c:77:27: error: X11/keysymdef.h: No such file or directory HGraf.c:87: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘*’ token HGraf.c:88: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘rootW’ HGraf.c:91: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘theCmap’ HGraf.c:92: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘theGC’ HGraf.c:93: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘gcs’ HGraf.c:95: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘*’ token HGraf.c:96: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘report’ HGraf.c:97: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘hints’ HGraf.c:111: error: ‘GXcopy’ undeclared here (not in a function) HGraf.c:111: error: ‘GXor’ undeclared here (not in a function) HGraf.c:111: error: ‘GXxor’ undeclared here (not in a function) HGraf.c:111: error: ‘GXinvert’ undeclared here (not in a function) HGraf.c:151: error: expected ‘=’, ‘,’, ‘;’, ‘asm’ or ‘__attribute__’ before ‘*’ token HGraf.c: In function ‘InstallFonts’: HGraf.c:164: error: ‘FontInfo’ undeclared (first use in this function) HGraf.c:164: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once HGraf.c:164: error: for each function it appears in.) • Encryption of external HDD -- accessible from windows without installation

    - by Rainer
I would like to use encryption on my external HDD but I would like to be able to access the encrypted data from Windows as well. As suggested in other questions, TrueCrypt is one option here, or I am using momentarily encfs, which is not available for Windows. But my question goes further: I would like to be able to access the encrypted partition from Windows without installation as I will be using it from different Windows machines for which I have no administrator access. My main OS is Linux and I have full root access to that computer. Is there a full disk or file based encryption which I can use cross platform and which does not require installation under Windows? ADDITION: It seems that TrueCrypt provides a portable mode which fulfills my requirements partly: http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/?s=truecrypt-portable, but still the TrueCrypt driver needs to be installed by an administrator... pitty Thanks

  • Numbering equations based on chapter numbers in MS-Word

    - by Isaac
I am seeking for a way to number each equation based on the chapter numbers. The number should be placed at the right side of the equation and the equation should be center-aligned. Something like this: (The bounding box around 2.3 is not necessary). I found this article that do this in a tricky way. Sadly it has some problems when I use multilevel numbering for Headings. To conclude, I am looking for a way to numbers equations that: The numbering is formatted as N-M that N is chapter number and M is equation number. equation is placed in center-aligned number is placed in the right side of equation There should be a way to cross-reference each numbered equation. Thanks!

  • css menu for cross browser...mobile and desktop

  • Using WSUS Admin Console from outside domain

    - by Nick
Environment: I have a workstation on our primary domain. We have a primary WSUS Server that is the upstream server of 8 different testing domains. The Primary WSUS server is not part of any domain. Routing is configured between my workstation and the Primary WSUS server. I can RDP to the Primary WSUS sever without any problem. The router is configured to forward any any between my workstation and the Primary WSUS server. This WSUS server cannot be part of a domain due to external requirements (I can't change them) on the lab I work in. The version of WSUS is WSUS 3.0 SP 2 What I want to do: I need to connect to the WSUS server with the WSUS Admin console from my local workstation. The end goal is to connect via Powershell and manage with that. I also need to take what I do here and port it to the 8 test domains so I can manage those WSUS servers. The routing is all in place so I can talk to the servers, it's just connecting to the WSUS console that is causing problems. The problem: I cannot get my workstation to connect to the WSUS Console. I get one of the following errors depending on the setup. 1st error: Cannot connect to 'WSUS'. You do not have the permissions required to access this WSUS server. To connect to the server you must be a member of the WSUS Administrators or WSUS Reporters security groups I also get the warning 7012 from the event log that says the same thing. 2nd error: Cannot connect to 'WSUS'. The server may be using another port or different Secure Sockets Layer setting. What I have tried: So far I have configured IIS for Anonymous Authentication on both the WSUS Administration and ApiRemoting30 using an account will call WSUS_User. With this in place, I get the 1st error. When I do this though, the local WSUS Console cannot be used either. Reverting back to only Windows Authentication allows the local console to work, but the remote console now give the 2nd error. I have confirmed the port, and that there is no SSL in use (which is a policy that is pushed from above, that I cannot effect). I have placed WSUS_User in the groups mentioned above, but it still does not connect. I made sure WSUS_User has full access on C:\Program Files\Update Services and C:\Program Files\Update Services\WebServices I am not very familiar with the workings of WSUS or IIS, and have gone as far as I can figure out on my own. Googling these errors all take me to the same steps about Anonymous Authentication and configuring permissions on folders. Note: I have cross-posted this to StackOverflow as well.

  • MSBuild cannot find SGen when compiling a solution

    - by Jaxidian
I've looked at several other SGen-related questions on here and either their answers don't apply or their answers don't fix this for me. I have installed several SDKs to fix this issue with no luck. Reference types should not be changed since this is the only place this is a problem. Once suggestion is to put SGen.exe into the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5 folder, but that's not been done on the box where this is not a problem. In this scenario, SGen.exe actually exists and is right where it's supposed to be, but MSBuild still is having issues with finding it for some reason! Background: We have a NAnt script that automates our builds. In this scenario, NAnt is calling MSBuild and MSBuild is generating the error claiming to be unable to find SGen. The project is .NET 3.5-based. I have my primary dev environment (64-bit Vista Ultimate) where the script works perfectly and I am attempting to duplicate it in a VM (64-bit Win 7 Ultimate). I THINK I have everything to the point where I should be good-to-go but this fails on the Win7 box (works perfectly on the Vista box). I have done some comparisons between the two boxes and they both look identical in this regard, but it still fails. For example, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework's sdkInstallRootv2.0 value is set to C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\v2.0 64bit\ on both machines. In both machines, SGen.exe is in that path's bin subdirectory. NAnt Script: <target name="report-installer" depends="fail-if-environment-not-set"> <exec program="MSBuild.exe" basedir="${framework35.directory}"> <arg value="${tools.directory.current}\ReportInstaller\ReportInstaller.sln" /> <arg value="/p:Configuration=${buildconfiguration.current}" /> </exec> </target> The error message I get is this: report-installer: [exec] Microsoft (R) Build Engine Version 3.5.30729.4926 [exec] [Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727.4927] [exec] Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2007. • Strange "INavigatorContent" error compiling in 4.0

    - by Stephano
I've recently decided to try an upgrade to 4.0. The only error I still can't work out is this one: "The children of Halo navigators must implement INavigatorContent" I seem to be getting it on all my ViewStacks that have validators. <mx:ViewStack xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"> <mx:NumberValidator id="systolicValidator" source="{systolic}" required="true" property="text" minValue="10" maxValue="300" domain="int"/> <mx:NumberValidator id="diastolicValidator" source="{diastolic}" required="true" property="text" minValue="10" maxValue="200" domain="int"/> <mx:TextInput id="systolic"/> <mx:TextInput id="diastolic"/> ... The error gets thrown on the validator tags. My compiler is set to "flex 3 compatibility mode" and my theme is set to Halo (default). This seems like it should be a really straight forward fix, so I hate to spin my wheels on it for too long. Any ideas what I might be missing?

  • Cross-table linq query with EF4/POCO

    - by Basiclife
Hi All, I'm new to EF(any version) and POCO. I'm trying to use POCO entities with a generic repository in a "code-first" mode(?) I've got some POCO Entities (no proxies, no lazy loading, nothing). I have a repository(of T as Entity) which provides me with basic get/getsingle/getfirst functionality which takes a lambda as a parameter (specifically a System.Func(Of T, Boolean)) Now as I'm returning the simplest possible POCO object, none of the relationship parameters work once they've been retrieved from the database (as I would expect). However, I had assumed (wrongly) that my lambda query passed to the repository would be able to use the links between entities as it would be executed against the DB before the simple POCO entities are generated. The flow is: GUI calls: Public Function GetAllTypesForCategory(ByVal CategoryID As Guid) As IEnumerable(Of ItemType) Return ItemTypeRepository.Get(Function(x) x.Category.ID = CategoryID) End Function Get is defined in Repository(of T as Entity): Public Function [Get](ByVal Query As System.Func(Of T, Boolean)) As IEnumerable(Of T) Implements Interfaces.IRepository(Of T).Get Return ObjectSet.Where(Query).ToList() End Function The code doesn't error when this method is called but does when I try to use the result set. (This seems to be a lazy loading behaviour so I tried adding the .ToList() to force eager loading - no difference) I'm using unity/IOC to wire it all up but I believe that's irrelevant to the issue I'm having NB: Relationships between entities are being configured properly and if I turn on proxies/lazy loading/etc... this all just works. I'm intentionally leaving all that turned off as some calls to the BL will be from a website but some will be via WCF - So I want the simplest possible objects. Also, I don't want a change in an object passed to the UI to be committed to the DB if another BL method calls Commit() Can someone please either point out how to make this work or explain why it's not possible? All I want to do is make sure the lambda I pass in is performed against the DB before the results are returned Many thanks. In case it matters, the container is being populated with everything as shown below: Container.AddNewExtension(Of EFRepositoryExtension)() Container.Configure(Of IEFRepositoryExtension)(). WithConnection(ConnectionString). WithContextLifetime(New HttpContextLifetimeManager(Of IObjectContext)()). ConfigureEntity(New CategoryConfig(), "Categories"). ConfigureEntity(New ItemConfig()). ... )
