• Possible to use screen lock as timeout? [duplicate]

  This question already has an answer here: Any app that tells me to take regular breaks from working? 3 answers What I'd like to do is lock the screen and have it wait a set amount of time (eg 20 mins) before it lets me log back in - so I make myself to have a break from the computer. Is it possible to do this? Thanks EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions - but I don't actually want something to remind me to take scheduled breaks. More something I can click when I realise I'm getting distracted and it'll immediately lock the screen for a fixed amount of time. Or even just lock screen if I can find a way to stop it letting me log in for 20 mins or so.

• What are the best practices for phasing out obsolete code?

  I have the need to phase out an obsolete method. I am aware of the [Obsolete] attribute. Does Microsoft have a recommended best practice guide for doing this? Here's my current plan: A. I do not want to create a new assembly because developers would have to add a new reference to their projects and I expect to get a lot of grief from my boss and co-workers if they must do this. We also do not maintain multiple assembly versions. We only use the latest version. Changing this practice would require changing our deployment process which is a big issue (have to teach people how to do things with TFS instead of FinalBuilder and get them to give up FinalBuilder) B. Mark the old method obsolete. C. Because the implementation is changing (not the method signature), I need to rename the method rather than create an overload. So, to make users aware of the proper method I plan to add a message to the [Obsolete] attribute. This part bothers me, because the only change I'm making is decoupling the method from the connection string. But, because I'm not adding a new assembly, I see no way around this. I would like to learn how to be able to do as much as possible easily from the command line. I just bought a book, linux command line and shell scripting bible. I know that this book will be of great help, but i just have no clue how long it will be before i can successfully naviagte the terminal with ease. If you could post and let me know about your experience with the terminal, and the learning process, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm on the works for making a simple 2D 3rd-person shooter game. One of the examples is the Counter Strike and the game listed the name of weapons based on the real life models and so developers decided to created this named it for the weapon designs. If not, should I make either falsify the name of weapons (e.g. 9mm instead of Glock 17 from a Syphon Filter game) or make fictional weapons like the ones developed behind Halo games?

• JavaScript: Code Folding

  Today I would like to mentioned code folding in the new JavaScript editor support, which is available in the continual builds from our server. It's a basic feature, but was mentioned in a comment under the mentioned post. So you can fold comments and every code block between { and }. The current support allows only methods to be folded. The difference is shown below. In the picture on the left side is the current folding and on the right side the new one.   The code folding can be switched off in the Editor Options (Tools main menu -> Options -> Editor category -> General Tab). In this dialog you can also define which folds should be collapsed by default when you open a file. These options more closely fit Java editor needs, but you can see in the next picture how the options are mapped for JavaScript code.  The Method option folds all functions in the code. Other code blogs are fold through the option Tags and Other Code Blogs.  The documentation comments (starts with /**) are fold through Javadoc Comments and when you check Initial Comment, then all comments that start with /* are folded by default.  The new JavaScript editor also supports custom folds. To add your custom fold, type in two special comments as shown in this example: // <editor-fold> Your code goes here... // </editor-fold> You can define the default description of a collapsed fold by adding a "desc" attribute: // <editor-fold desc="This is my super secret genius code."> Your code goes here... // </editor-fold> You can set a fold to be collapsed by default by adding a "defaultstate" attribute: // <editor-fold defaultstate="collapsed"> Your code goes here... // </editor-fold> There is a code template that helps with writing custom fold comments. For example, when you click the news button, content slides in with news. It didn't occur to me that this might be labeled as a black hat SEO technique, because I have content positioned off the screen with CSS that links elsewhere on my site, and a search engine could very easily interpret that as me hiding content for SEO purposes by positioning it off screen. Obviously, my intention was not to hide content, but was to make a sort of UI/UX content slider where content slides into view when a button is clicked. How can I make something to this effect (where content slides in and out), that would not comprise SEO?

• Remove Duplicate Second Unity Launcher on Dual Screen

  See attached image. On my dual screen display I have a Unity Launcher on the left hand screen and also on the right hand screen. Both work perfectly fine. I don't want two Unity Launchers. Every time I move my house to the right hand side it gets slowed down over the right launcher hampering my productivity. I have an Nvidia card with the Nvidia driver and I am using TwinView. Could somebody please tell me how to remove this extra duplicated launcher?

  I know about Omondo's plugin for live code-UML synchronization in Eclipse, but I was wondering if there was any other tool/IDE/IDE-extension that has some form of live graphical code representaiton (structural, flow, call-stacks, dependencies, etc.). I'm essentially looking for richer visual feedback on code while programming, not really looking for purely graphical code editors, though round-trips would be nice (edit graphically, code gets modified; edit code, representation gets modified). If you don't know about any graphical live documentation tool for code, maybe someone that can coexist with code, such as MySQL Workbench or Enterprise Architect.

Using the Google webmaster tool test, the page checks out and displays what it sees as the microdata properly. But when I go to the Structured Data page in webmaster tools, it keeps saying the site does not have any. I put it in 2 weeks ago. Us it just something that take a while for it to recognize? Or does microdata have to be on every page for it to be recognized or something?

It works really well but it ends up in spam some of the time, and this is real frustrating as it is just confirming some details for the customer of what they have just booked, not at all spam, and is accessed via a page where the admin requires login. Any suggestions as to why this may end up in spam. It does have dollar signs ($$) as it is confirming a price, im assuming this is one problem, the rest of it is just general dates and info about the confirmation. Is there any suggestions on how to get this out of spam? thanks in advance

• Booting Ubuntu on HP Pavilion g7 - 13.04 [duplicate]

  This question already has an answer here: My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it? 24 answers I have a HP Pavilion G7 with an AMD A4 processor and Radeon graphics. I want to install Ubuntu on my laptop but whenever I put the Ubuntu live CD in it and boot to it, the screen shows the Ubuntu logo and the four little dots then after about a minute or two the screen goes black. I can tell the screen is still on but it doesn't have anything on it. I'm beginning to wonder if its a driver problem but I can't really install the drivers when I cant even get Ubuntu to show anything except a loading screen. I've already tried using 12.04 and 12.10 and all the others down to Ubuntu 10. none of them worked. All the other versions don't even show the Ubuntu logo. I'd prefer to have Ubuntu 13.04 on it if its possible but I haven't had any luck finding a solution. I've also tried using WUBI installer in Windows 7 but all that did was make my computer slower for windows and it does the same with the screen when i boot it to Ubuntu. I'm trying to use Ubuntu alongside Windows 7. I cant find any solution on Google. It wont load anything and I know that there is a program called grub on Ubuntu that I used on my desktop computer when it had graphics trouble but the trouble with my desktop was minor things like the screen would flash and then show weird patterns on the screen. But I can't find anything on what to do with the HP laptop. Please help. I use this laptop a lot for games on Windows 7 and I just want to use Ubuntu for when I take my laptop to school and for school stuff. Edit: I just tried booting it in nomodeset and some other things and still didn't work. It did boot up but now when it goes to install alongside windows it crashes and says Ubuntu is forcing reboot or something like that Also, this question is different from the black screen at boot issue because when I do use nomodeset on my computer and select install Ubuntu it will go as far as the screen where you can choose to replace Windows or run alongside Windows. Then after I click continue it ejects the live CD and turns off my computer without installing anything. The error message it shows when it ejects the disk says signal 15, shutting down - modem manager [1675]: <info> Caught nm-dispatcher.action: Caught signal 15, shutting down... *Deconfiguring network interfaces... Please remove installation media and close the tray (if any) then press ENTER *Deactivating swap... *Stopping remaining crypto disks... *stopping early crypto disks... unmount: /run/lock: not mounted unmount: /run/shm: not mounted
