  • Best practice to propagate preferences of application

    - by Shebuka
    What is your approach with propagation to all classes/windows of preferences/settings of your application? Do you share the preference_manager class to all classes/windows who need it or you make variables in each classes/windows and update them manually each time setting are changed? Currently I have a PreferencesInterface class that hold all preferences and is responsible to default all values with a dedicated method called on create and when needed, all values are public, so non getters/setters, also it have virtual SavePreferences/LoadPreferences methods. Then I have PreferencesManager that extends from PreferencesInterface and is responsible for actually implementation of SavePreferences/LoadPreferences. I've made this basically for cross-platform so that every platform can have a different implementation of actual storage (registry, ini, plist, xml, whatever).

  • How to create a PeopleCode Application Package/Application Class using PeopleTools Tables

    - by Andreea Vaduva
    This article describes how - in PeopleCode (Release PeopleTools 8.50) - to enable a grid without enabling each static column, using a dynamic Application Class. The goal is to disable the following grid with three columns “Effort Date”, ”Effort Amount” and “Charge Back” , when the Check Box “Finished with task” is selected , without referencing each static column; this PeopleCode could be used dynamically with any grid. If the check box “Finished with task” is cleared, the content of the grid columns is editable (and the buttons “+” and “-“ are available): So, you create an Application Package “CLASS_EXTENSIONS” that contains an Application Class “EWK_ROWSET”. This Application Class is defined with Class extends “ Rowset” and you add two news properties “Enabled” and “Visible”: After creating this Application Class, you use it in two PeopleCode Events : Rowinit and FieldChange : This code is very ‘simple’, you write only one command : ” &ERS2.Enabled = False” → and the entire grid is “Enabled”… and you can use this code with any Grid! So, the complete PeopleCode to create the Application Package is (with explanation in [….]) : ******Package CLASS_EXTENSIONS : [Name of the Package: CLASS_EXTENSIONS] --Beginning of the declaration part------------------------------------------------------------------------------ class EWK_ROWSET extends Rowset; [Definition Class EWK_ROWSET as a subclass of Class Rowset] method EWK_ROWSET(&RS As Rowset); [Constructor is the Method with the same name of the Class] property boolean Visible get set; property boolean Enabled get set; [Definition of the property “Enabled” in read/write] private [Before the word “private”, all the declarations are publics] method SetDisplay(&DisplaySW As boolean, &PropName As string, &ChildSW As boolean); instance boolean &EnSW; instance boolean &VisSW; instance Rowset &NextChildRS; instance Row &NextRow; instance Record &NextRec; instance Field &NextFld; instance integer &RowCnt, &RecCnt, &FldCnt, &ChildRSCnt; instance integer &i, &j, &k; instance CLASS_EXTENSIONS:EWK_ROWSET &ERSChild; [For recursion] Constant &VisibleProperty = "VISIBLE"; Constant &EnabledProperty = "ENABLED"; end-class; --End of the declaration part------------------------------------------------------------------------------ method EWK_ROWSET [The Constructor] /+ &RS as Rowset +/ %Super = &RS; end-method; get Enabled /+ Returns Boolean +/; Return &EnSW; end-get; set Enabled /+ &NewValue as Boolean +/; &EnSW = &NewValue; %This.InsertEnabled=&EnSW; %This.DeleteEnabled=&EnSW; %This.SetDisplay(&EnSW, &EnabledProperty, False); [This method is called when you set this property] end-set; get Visible /+ Returns Boolean +/; Return &VisSW; end-get; set Visible /+ &NewValue as Boolean +/; &VisSW = &NewValue; %This.SetDisplay(&VisSW, &VisibleProperty, False); end-set; method SetDisplay [The most important PeopleCode Method] /+ &DisplaySW as Boolean, +/ /+ &PropName as String, +/ /+ &ChildSW as Boolean +/ [Not used in our example] &RowCnt = %This.ActiveRowCount; &NextRow = %This.GetRow(1); [To know the structure of a line ] &RecCnt = &NextRow.RecordCount; For &i = 1 To &RowCnt [Loop for each Line] &NextRow = %This.GetRow(&i); For &j = 1 To &RecCnt [Loop for each Record] &NextRec = &NextRow.GetRecord(&j); &FldCnt = &NextRec.FieldCount; For &k = 1 To &FldCnt [Loop for each Field/Record] &NextFld = &NextRec.GetField(&k); Evaluate Upper(&PropName) When = &VisibleProperty &NextFld.Visible = &DisplaySW; Break; When = &EnabledProperty; &NextFld.Enabled = &DisplaySW; [Enable each Field/Record] Break; When-Other Error "Invalid display property; Must be either VISIBLE or ENABLED" End-Evaluate; End-For; End-For; If &ChildSW = True Then [If recursion] &ChildRSCnt = &NextRow.ChildCount; For &j = 1 To &ChildRSCnt [Loop for each Rowset child] &NextChildRS = &NextRow.GetRowset(&j); &ERSChild = create CLASS_EXTENSIONS:EWK_ROWSET(&NextChildRS); &ERSChild.SetDisplay(&DisplaySW, &PropName, &ChildSW); [For each Rowset child, call Method SetDisplay with the same parameters used with the Rowset parent] End-For; End-If; End-For; end-method; ******End of the Package CLASS_EXTENSIONS:[Name of the Package: CLASS_EXTENSIONS] About the Author: Pascal Thaler joined Oracle University in 2005 where he is a Senior Instructor. • Mobile game production workflow using Html5 and visual studio

    - by Mihalis Bagos
    I want to know of any framework, that lets you build/test applications inside Visual Studio using Html5/JS. We need to be able to have an emulator (like the one on android sdk) for as many devices as possible, and we need to be able to run the application with as few steps as possible (using the "RUN" command in visual studio is no1 choice). Also, this extends to build and deployment to app stores. Is there a way to circumvent the cloud services and build locally? I am at a loss of the plethora of tools and technologies available for game design using Html5. However, I really don't like the way implementations try to get you to rely on their cloud services, so services like appmobi are at the bottom of the favored list.

  • Example: Communication between Activity and Service using Messaging

    - by Lance Lefebure
    I couldn't find any examples of how to send messages between an activity and a service, and spent far too many hours figuring this out. Here is an example project for others to reference. This example allows you to start or stop a service directly, and separately bind/unbind from the service. When the service is running, it increments a number at 10Hz. If the activity is bound to the service, it will display the current value. Data is transferred as an Integer and as a String so you can see how to do that two different ways. There are also buttons in the activity to send messages to the service (changes the increment-by value). • LSP vs OCP / Liskov Substitution VS Open Close

    - by Kolyunya
    I am trying to understand the SOLID principles of OOP and I've come to the conclusion that LSP and OCP have some similarities (if not to say more). the open/closed principle states "software entities (classes, modules, functions, etc.) should be open for extension, but closed for modification". LSP in simple words states that any instance of Foo can be replaced with any instance of Bar which is derived from Foo and the program will work the same very way. I'm not a pro OOP programmer, but it seems to me that LSP is only possible if Bar, derived from Foo does not change anything in it but only extends it. That means that in particular program LSP is true only when OCP is true and OCP is true only if LSP is true. That means that they are equal. Correct me if I'm wrong. I really want to understand these ideas. Great thanks for an answer.

  • Is it possible to create a single tokenizer to parse this?

    - by Adrian
    This extends off this other Q&A thread, but is going into details that are out of scope from the original question. I am generating a parser that is to parse a context-sensitive grammar which can take in the following subset of symbols: ,, [, ], {, }, m/[a-zA-Z_][a-zA-Z_0-9]*/, m/[0-9]+/ The grammar can take in the following string { abc[1] }, } and parse it as ({, abc[1], }, }). Another example would be to take: { abc[1] [, } and parse it as ({, abc[1], [,, }). This is similar to the grammar used in Perl for the qw() syntax. The braces indicate that the contents are to be whitespace tokenized. A closing brace must be on its own to indicate the end of the whitespace tokenized group. Can this be done using a single lexer/tokenizer, or would it be necessary to have a separate tokenizer when parsing this group?

  • For Programmers familiar with ACM API? Drawing Initials [closed]

    - by user71992
    Possible Duplicate: For Programmers familiar with ACM API? Drawing Initials I came across an exercise (in the book "The Art and Science of Java" by Eric Roberts) that requires using only GArc and GLine classes to create a lettering library which draws your initials on the canvas. This should be made independent of the GLabel class. I'd like to know the correct approach to use in solving this problem. I'm not sure what I have so far is good enough (I'm thinking it's too long). The questions requires that I use a good Top-Down approach. Here's my code so far: //Passes letters to GLetter objects and draws them on the canvas package artScienceJavaExercises.chapter8; import acm.program.*; //import acm.graphics.*; public class DrawInitials extends GraphicsProgram{ public void init(){ resize(400,400); } public void run(){ //String let = readLine("Letter?: "); letter = new GLetter("l"); add(letter, (getWidth()-letter.getWidth()*2)/2, (getHeight()-letter.getHeight())/2); add(new GLetter("o"), (letter.getX()+letter.getWidth()), letter.getY()); } private GLetter letter; } //GLetter Class package artScienceJavaExercises.chapter8; import acm.graphics.*; import java.awt.*; public class GLetter extends GCompound{ private static final int ONE_THIRD = 30; private static final int ROW_2_HEIGHT = 40; private GArc[] arc = new GArc[4]; private GLine[] line = new GLine[24]; public GLetter(String s){ line[0] = new GLine(0,0, ONE_THIRD, 0); line[1] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD,0, ONE_THIRD*2, 0); line[2] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2,0, ONE_THIRD*3, 0); line[3] = new GLine(0,0, 0,ONE_THIRD); line[4] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD,0, ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD); line[5] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2,0, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD); line[6] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*3,0, ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD); line[7] = new GLine(0,ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD); line[8] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD,ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD); line[9] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2,ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD); line[10] = new GLine(0,ONE_THIRD, 0, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[11] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[12] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2,ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[13] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*3,ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[14] = new GLine(0, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[15] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[16] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[17] = new GLine(0, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, 0, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[18] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[19] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[20] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[21] = new GLine(0,ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[22] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD*2, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); line[23] = new GLine(ONE_THIRD*2,ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT, ONE_THIRD*3, ONE_THIRD*2+ROW_2_HEIGHT); for(int i = 0; i<line.length; i++){ add(line[i]); line[i].setColor(Color.BLACK); line[i].setVisible(false); } arc[0] = new GArc(getWidth(), getHeight(), 106.699, 49.341); arc[1] = new GArc(getWidth(), getHeight(), 23.96, 49.341); arc[2] = new GArc(getWidth(), getHeight(), -23.96, -49.341); arc[3] = new GArc(0,0,getWidth(), getHeight(), -106.699, -49.341); for(int i = 0; i<arc.length; i++){ add(arc[i],0,0); arc[i].setColor(Color.BLACK); arc[i].setVisible(false); } paintLetter(s); } private void paintLetter(String s){ if (s.equalsIgnoreCase("l")){ turnOn(line[3]); turnOn(line[10]); turnOn(line[17]); turnOn(line[21]); turnOn(line[22]); turnOn(line[23]); } else if(s.equalsIgnoreCase("o")){ for(int i = 0; i<4; ++i){ turnOn(arc[i]); } turnOn(line[1]); turnOn(line[10]); turnOn(line[13]); turnOn(line[22]); } } private void turnOn(GObject g){ g.setVisible(true); } } I created a class (GLetter.java) with arrays for GArc and GLine objects. They are positioned in certain ways thereby turning certain Glines and/or GArcs on or off (changing visiblity) would create a pattern for a letter. This Gletter uses the if/else statements to determine which pattern to create - this makes me feel my code is too long. There is another class (DrawInitials.java) that simulates a GraphicsProgram and allows the user to pass certain letters as arguments to the GLetter object. I've used 'L' and 'O' as examples. However, I posted this because I'm not sure I'm using the right approach. That's why I need your help. I feel MY CODE IS TOO LONG! The code above is not the complete project...it only draws letters 'L' and 'O' for now.

  • How do I inject test objects when the real objects are created dynamically?

    I want to make a class testable using dependency injection. But the class creates multiple objects at runtime, and passes different values to their constructor. Here's a simplified example: public abstract class Validator { private ErrorList errors; public abstract void validate(); public void addError(String text) { errors.add( new ValidationError(text)); } public int getNumErrors() { return errors.count() } } public class AgeValidator extends Validator { public void validate() { addError("first name invalid"); addError("last name invalid"); } } (There are many other subclasses of Validator.) What's the best way to change this, so I can inject a fake object instead of ValidationError? I can create an AbstractValidationErrorFactory, and inject the factory instead. This would work, but it seems like I'll end up creating tons of little factories and factory interfaces, for every dependency of this sort. Is there a better way?

    I want to get data from MySQL database using PHP and display it in Android activity. I code it and pass JSON Array but there is a problem i dont know how to connect to server and my all database is on local server. I code it Kindly tell me where i go wrong so I can get exact results. I'll be very thankful to you. My PHP code is: <?php $response = array(); require_once __DIR__ . '/db_connect.php'; $db = new DB_CONNECT(); if (isset($_GET["cid"])) { $cid = $_GET['cid']; // get a product from products table $result = mysql_query("SELECT *FROM my_task WHERE cid = $cid"); if (!empty($result)) { // check for empty result if (mysql_num_rows($result) > 0) { $result = mysql_fetch_array($result); $task = array(); $task["cid"] = $result["cid"]; $task["cus_name"] = $result["cus_name"]; $task["contact_number"] = $result["contact_number"]; $task["ticket_no"] = $result["ticket_no"]; $task["task_detail"] = $result["task_detail"]; // success $response["success"] = 1; // user node $response["task"] = array(); array_push($response["my_task"], $task); // echoing JSON response echo json_encode($response); } else { // no task found $response["success"] = 0; $response["message"] = "No product found"; // echo no users JSON echo json_encode($response); } } else { // no task found $response["success"] = 0; $response["message"] = "No product found"; echo json_encode($response); } } else { $response["success"] = 0; $response["message"] = "Required field(s) is missing"; // echoing JSON response echo json_encode($response);} ?> My Android code is: public class My_Task extends Activity { TextView cus_name_txt, contact_no_txt, ticket_no_txt, task_detail_txt; EditText attend_by_txtbx, cus_name_txtbx, contact_no_txtbx, ticket_no_txtbx, task_detail_txtbx; Button btnSave; Button btnDelete; String cid; // Progress Dialog private ProgressDialog tDialog; // Creating JSON Parser object JSONParser jParser = new JSONParser(); ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> my_taskList; // single task url private static final String url_read_mytask = "http://198.168.0.29/mobile/read_My_Task.php"; // url to update product private static final String url_update_mytask = "http://198.168.0.29/mobile/update_mytask.php"; // url to delete product private static final String url_delete_mytask = "http://198.168.0.29/mobile/delete_mytask.php"; // JSON Node names private static String TAG_SUCCESS = "success"; private static String TAG_MYTASK = "my_task"; private static String TAG_CID = "cid"; private static String TAG_NAME = "cus_name"; private static String TAG_CONTACT = "contact_number"; private static String TAG_TICKET = "ticket_no"; private static String TAG_TASKDETAIL = "task_detail"; private static String attend_by_txt; // task JSONArray JSONArray my_task = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.my_task); cus_name_txt = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.cus_name_txt); contact_no_txt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.contact_no_txt); ticket_no_txt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.ticket_no_txt); task_detail_txt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.task_detail_txt); attend_by_txtbx = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.attend_by_txt); attend_by_txtbx.setText(My_Task.attend_by_txt); Spinner severity = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.severity_spinner); // Create an ArrayAdapter using the string array and a default spinner layout ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapter3 = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource(this, R.array.Severity_array, android.R.layout.simple_dropdown_item_1line); // Specify the layout to use when the list of choices appears adapter3.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); // Apply the adapter to the spinner severity.setAdapter(adapter3); // save button btnSave = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btnSave); btnDelete = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btnDelete); // getting product details from intent Intent i = getIntent(); // getting product id (pid) from intent cid = i.getStringExtra(TAG_CID); // Getting complete product details in background thread new GetProductDetails().execute(); // save button click event btnSave.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // starting background task to update product new SaveProductDetails().execute(); } }); // Delete button click event btnDelete.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // deleting product in background thread new DeleteProduct().execute(); } }); } /** * Background Async Task to Get complete product details * */ class GetProductDetails extends AsyncTask<String, String, String> { /** * Before starting background thread Show Progress Dialog * */ @Override protected void onPreExecute() { super.onPreExecute(); tDialog = new ProgressDialog(My_Task.this); tDialog.setMessage("Loading task details.   • Having trouble compiling UnrealScript with defaultproperties

    - by Enchanter
    Have just started scripting in Unreal Script and am following the instructions of the opening chapter of a book on the subject. I have set the development tools up as described in the book such that it is now possible to compile the scripts for UDK before adding them to a level. My issue is: the very first script the book asks you to compile is the following: class AwesomeActor extends Actor placeable; defaultproperties { Begin Object Class=SpriteComponent Name = Sprite Sprite = Texture2D'EditorResources.S_NavP' End Object Components.Add(Sprite) } And when I hit F9 in the compiler I get the following error message: Error, BEGIN OBJECT: Must specify valid name for suboject/copmponent: Begin Object class=SpriteComponent name = Sprite My question: As far as I'm aware I've copied the code from the book veribatim including capital and smaller case letters but I'm getting this error and I was wondering if anyone knew why and if so how I would fix it?

  • Expressing the UI for Enterprise Applications with JavaFX 2.0 FXML - Part Two

    - by Janice J. Heiss
    A new article by Oracle’s Java Champion Jim Weaver, titled “Expressing the UI for Enterprise Applications with JavaFX 2.0 FXML -- Part Two,” now up on otn/java, shows developers how to leverage the power of the FX Markup Language to define the UI for enterprise applications. Weaver, the author of Pro JavaFX Platform, extends the SearchDemoFXML example used in Part One to include more concepts and techniques for creating an enterprise application using FXML. Weaver concludes the article by summarizing its content, “FXML provides the ability to radically change the UI without modifying the controller. This task can be accomplished by loading different FXML documents, leveraging JavaFX cascading style sheets, and creating localized resource bundles. Named parameters can be used with these features to provide relevant information to an application at startup.” Check out the article here.

  • blurry lines between web application context layer, service layer and data access layer in spring

    - by thenaglecode
    I Originally asked this question in SO but on advice I have moved the question here... I'll admit I'm a spring newbie, but you can correct me if I'm wrong, this one liner looks kinda fishy in a best practices sort of way: @RepositoryRestResource(collectionResourceRel="people"...) public interface PersonRepository extends PagingAndSortingRepository<Person, Long> For those who are unaware, the following does many things: It is an interface definition that can be registered in an application context as a jpa repository, automagically hooking up all the default CRUD operations within a persistence context (that is externally configured). and also configures default controller/request-mapping/handler functionality at the namespace "/people" relative to your configured dispatcher servlet-mapping. Here's my point. I just crossed 3 conceptual layers with one line of code! this feels against my seperation-of-concern instincts but i wanted to hear your opinion. And for the sake of being on a question and answer site, I would like to know whether there is a better way of seperating these different layers - Service, Data, Controllers - whilst maintaining as minimal configuration as possible

  • creating a pre-menu level select screen

    - by Ephiras
    Hi I am working on creating a tower Defence java applet game and have come to a road block about implementing a title screen that i can select the level and difficulty of the rest of the game. my title screen class is called Menu. from this menu class i need to pass in many different variables into my Main class. i have used different classes before and know how to run them and such. but if both classes extend applet and each has its individual graphics method how can i run things from Main even though it was created in Menu. what i essentially want to do is run the Menu class withits action listeners and graphics until a Difficulty button has been selected, run the main class (which 100% works without having to have the Menu class) and pretty much terminate Menu so that i cannot go back to it, do not see its buttons or graphics menus. can i run one applet annd when i choose a button close that one and launch the other one? IF you would like to download the full project you can find it here, i had to comment out all the code that wasn't working my Menu class import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.applet.*; public class Menu extends Applet implements ActionListener{ Button bEasy,bMed,bHard; Main m; public void init(){ bEasy= new Button("Easy"); bEasy.setBounds(140,200,100,50); add(bEasy); bMed = new Button("Medium");bMed.setBounds(280,200,100,50); add(bMed); bHard= new Button("Hard");bHard.setBounds(420,200,100,50); add(bHard); setLayout(null); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){ Main m = new Main(20,10,3000,mapMed);//break; switch (e.getSource()){ case bEasy: Main m = new Main(6000,20,"levels/levelEasy.png");break;//enimies tower money world case bMed: Main m = new Main(4000,15,"levels/levelMed.png");break; case bHard: Main m = new Main(2000,10,"levels/levelEasy.png");break; default: break; } } public void paint(){ //m.draw(g) } } and here is my main class initialising code. import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.applet.*; import java.io.IOException; public class Main extends Applet implements Runnable, MouseListener, MouseMotionListener, ActionListener{ Button startButton, UpgRange, UpgDamage; //set up the buttons Color roadCol,startCol,finCol,selGrass,selRoad; //set up the colors Enemy e[][]; Tower t[]; Image towerpic,backpic,roadpic,levelPic; private Image i; private Graphics doubleG; //here is the world 0=grass 1=road 2=start 3=end int world[][],eStartX,eStartY; boolean drawMouse,gameEnd; static boolean start=false; static int gridLength=15; static int round=0; int Mx,My,timer=1500; static int sqrSize=31; int towers=0,towerSelected=-10; static int castleHealth=2000; String levelPath; //choose the level Easy Med or Hard int maxEnemy[] = {5,7,12,20,30,15,50,30,40,60};//number of enimies per round int maxTowers=15;//maximum number of towers allowed static int money =2000,damPrice=600,ranPrice=350,towerPrice=700; //money = the intial ammount of money you start of with //damPrice is the price to increase the damage of a tower //ranPrice is the price to increase the range of a tower public void main(int cH,int mT,int mo,int dP,int rP,int tP,String path,int[] mE)//constructor 1 castleHealth=cH; maxTowers=mT; money=mo; damPrice=dP; ranPrice=rP; towerPrice=tP; String levelPath=path; maxEnemy = mE; buildLevel(); } public void main(int cH,int mT,String path)//basic constructor castleHealth=cH; maxTowers=mT; String levelPath=path; maxEnemy = mE; buildLevel(); } public void init(){ setSize(sqrSize*15+200,sqrSize*15);//set the size of the screen roadCol = new Color(255,216,0);//set the colors for the different objects startCol = new Color(0,38,255); finCol = new Color(255,0,0); selRoad = new Color(242,204,155);//selColor is the color of something when your mouse hovers over it selGrass = new Color(0,190,0); roadpic = getImage(getDocumentBase(),"images/road.jpg"); towerpic = getImage(getDocumentBase(),"images/tower.png"); backpic = getImage(getDocumentBase(),"images/grass.jpg"); levelPic = getImage(getDocumentBase(),"images/level.jpg"); e= new Enemy[maxEnemy.length][];//activates all of the enimies for (int r=0;r<e.length;r++) e[r] = new Enemy[maxEnemy[r]]; t= new Tower[maxTowers]; for (int i=0;i<t.length;i++) t[i]= new Tower();//activates all the towers for (int i=0;i<e.length; i++)//sets all of the enimies starting co ordinates for (int j=0;j<e[i].length;j++) e[i][j] = new Enemy(eStartX,eStartY,world); initButtons();//initialise all the buttons addMouseMotionListener(this); addMouseListener(this); }

  • Node Serialization in NetBeans Platform 7.0

    - by Geertjan
    Node serialization makes sense when you're not interested in the data (since that should be serialized to a database), but in the state of the application. For example, when the application restarts, you want the last selected node to automatically be selected again. That's not the kind of information you'll want to store in a database, hence node serialization is not about data serialization but about application state serialization. I've written about this topic in October 2008, here and here, but want to show how to do this again, using NetBeans Platform 7.0. Somewhere I remember reading that this can't be done anymore and that's typically the best motivation for me, i.e., to prove that it can be done after all. Anyway, in a standard POJO/Node/BeanTreeView scenario, do the following: Remove the "@ConvertAsProperties" annotation at the top of the class, which you'll find there if you used the Window Component wizard. We're not going to use property-file based serialization, but plain old java.io.Serializable  instead. In the TopComponent, assuming it is named "UserExplorerTopComponent", typically at the end of the file, add the following: @Override public Object writeReplace() { //We want to work with one selected item only //and thanks to BeanTreeView.setSelectionMode, //only one node can be selected anyway: Handle handle = NodeOp.toHandles(em.getSelectedNodes())[0]; return new ResolvableHelper(handle); } public final static class ResolvableHelper implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public Handle selectedHandle; private ResolvableHelper(Handle selectedHandle) { this.selectedHandle = selectedHandle; } public Object readResolve() { WindowManager.getDefault().invokeWhenUIReady(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { try { //Get the TopComponent: UserExplorerTopComponent tc = (UserExplorerTopComponent) WindowManager.getDefault().findTopComponent("UserExplorerTopComponent"); //Get the display text to search for: String selectedDisplayName = selectedHandle.getNode().getDisplayName(); //Get the root, which is the parent of the node we want: Node root = tc.getExplorerManager().getRootContext(); //Find the node, by passing in the root with the display text: Node selectedNode = NodeOp.findPath(root, new String[]{selectedDisplayName}); //Set the explorer manager's selected node: tc.getExplorerManager().setSelectedNodes(new Node[]{selectedNode}); } catch (PropertyVetoException ex) { Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex); } catch (IOException ex) { Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex); } } }); return null; } } Assuming you have a node named "UserNode" for a type named "User" containing a property named "type", add the bits in bold below to your "UserNode": public class UserNode extends AbstractNode implements Serializable { static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public UserNode(User key) { super(Children.LEAF); setName(key.getType()); } @Override public Handle getHandle() { return new CustomHandle(this, getName()); } public class CustomHandle implements Node.Handle { static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private AbstractNode node = null; private final String searchString; public CustomHandle(AbstractNode node, String searchString) { this.node = node; this.searchString = searchString; } @Override public Node getNode() { node.setName(searchString); return node; } } } Run the application and select one of the user nodes. Close the application. Start it up again. The user node is not automatically selected, in fact, the window does not open, and you will see this in the output: Caused: java.io.InvalidClassException: org.serialization.sample.UserNode; no valid constructor Read this article and then you'll understand the need for this class: public class BaseNode extends AbstractNode { public BaseNode() { super(Children.LEAF); } public BaseNode(Children kids) { super(kids); } public BaseNode(Children kids, Lookup lkp) { super(kids, lkp); } } Now, instead of extending AbstractNode in your UserNode, extend BaseNode. Then the first non-serializable superclass of the UserNode has an explicitly declared no-args constructor, Do the same as the above for each node in the hierarchy that needs to be serialized. If you have multiple nodes needing serialization, you can share the "CustomHandle" inner class above between all the other nodes, while all the other nodes will also need to extend BaseNode (or provide their own non-serializable super class that explicitly declares a no-args constructor). Now, when I run the application, I select a node, then I close the application, restart it, and the previously selected node is automatically selected when the application has restarted.

  • Saving an interface instance into a Bundle

    - by user22241
    All I've have an interface that allows me to switch between different scenes in my Android game. When the home key is pressed, I am saving all of my states (score, sprite positions etc) into a Bundle. When re-launching, I am restoring all my states and all is OK - however, I can't figure out how to save my 'Scene', thus when I return, it always starts at the default screen which is the 'Main Menu'. How would I go about saving my 'Scene' (into a Bundle)? Code import android.view.MotionEvent; public interface Scene{ void render(); void updateLogic(); boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event); } I assume the interface is the relevant piece of code which is why I've posted that snippet. I set my scene like so: ('options' is an object of my Options class which extends MainMenu (Another custom class) which, in turn implements the interface 'Scene') SceneManager.getInstance().setCurrentScene(options); //Current scene is optionscreen

  • Do database tables need to have IDs?

    - by Arturas M
    Is an ID field is always needed in database tables? In my case I have a user with firstName, lastName and email fields. email is unique and not null, so it could be used as an ID, right? So in that case, could/should I try to remove the ID? Also I want to have another table which extends this one. Let's say its called patient and it has it's own field additionalData and I would like to link the relationship through the email of user I mentioned. So the relationship should be 1 to 1, right? and I wouldn't need the IDs? Somehow MySQL Workbench wants me to use the IDs. What do you guys think. Any suggestions on this topic?

  • Detecting a ledge in Box2D

    - by DormoTheNord
    I'm making a 2D platformer with Box2D. The player needs to be able to grab onto a ledge and pull him/herself up. Right now I have a sensor that extends in every direction from the upper half of the player's body. The logic seems simple enough: if there are tiles inside the sensor and empty space above them, then it's a ledge and the game should act accordingly. The problem is that I can't figure out how to implement that logic with Box2D. Anyone have any ideas?

I need to get the position of box2d world with the GameView co-ordinates. For example, Total width of screen = 240 Total height of screen = 320 Screen points needed to be mapped onto box2d co-ordinates (x,y) = 127, 139 For this i need to get the max width and height of the Box2d physics world. Is there is any way to get the max width and height of Box2d world. or Can i limit the width and height of box2d world within the screen resolution.
