  • Regular expression replace in PL/pgSQL

    - by dreamlax
    If I have the following input (excluding quotes): "The ancestral territorial imperatives of the trumpeter swan" How can I collapse all multiple spaces to a single space so that the input is transformed to: "The ancestral territorial imperatives of the trumpeter swan" This is going to be used in a trigger function on insert/update (which already trims leading/trailing spaces). Currently, it raises an exception if the input contains multiple adjacent spaces, but I would rather it simply transforms it into something valid before inserting. What is the best approach? I can't seem to find a regular-expression replace function for PL/pgSQL. There is a text_replace function, but this will only collapse at most two spaces down to one (meaning three consecutive spaces will collapse to two). Calling this function over and over is not ideal.

  • Assign to an array and replace emerged nil values

    Greetings! When assigning a value to an array as in the following, how could I replace the nils by 0? array = [1,2,3] array[10] = 2 array # => [1, 2, 3, nil, nil, nil, nil, nil, nil, nil, 2] If not possible when assigning, how would I do it the best way afterwards? I thought of array.map { |e| e.nil? ? 0 : e }, but well… Thanks!

  • How can HTML5 "replace" Flash?

    - by Kassini
    A topic of debate that's seen a resurgence since the unveiling of the iPad is the issue of Flash versus HTML5. There are those that suggest that HTML5 will one day supplant/replace Adobe Flash. I do not develop software that runs in a browser, so my (limited) understanding is: HTML is a pure-text markup language that is delivered over HTTP to a client browser. The client browser interprets the markup and renders (with varying degrees of success) the page according to an standard specification. Adobe Flash is a propriety framework for working with audio, video, sound and raster/vector graphics. It requires special authoring tools (a compiler perhaps?) and a custom player that's available as a plug-in to most common browsers. Could someone please explain (to this C/C++ developer) how it is possible from a technical/coding point-of-view that a text-based markup language (HTML5) could be considered a replacement to a multimedia framework (Flash)? Please no opinionated arguments - just technical facts.

  • PHP: BBCode with SQL selection?

    - by rayne
    I would like to code a bbcode with SQL selection. Basically I want the user to be able to input [user]Anotheruser[/user] in a text field, which then is converted in the front-end to an URL that looks like this: http://mydomain.com/user/[userid]/anotheruser. So in order to get the userid, I'd need to include an SQL selection, and additionally an if else to find out of the other user actually exists. Can I do this with a preg_replace as usually used for creating bbcode, or do I need to do something more complex?

  • Eclipse Search Only Specific Folders

    - by Craig
    Hello, I already saw the answers for a question almost identical to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/443169/eclipse-exclude-folders-from-search. However I am looking for a resolution that would allow me to say look at 10 of my 200 folders and those 10 change all the time. Is there a way I can search through just 1 folder and avoid any other folders that are not inside it? I don't want to create a different project as I am using SVN and I have had cases with mxml files and other files that adding a file that we moved from one project to another caused problems for other developers.

  • Replace LinkedList element value through LinkedList.Enumerator

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    I realize there are no way for me to replace value through LinkedList.Enumerator. For instead, I try to port the below Java code to C# // Java ListIterator<Double> itr1 = linkedList1.listIterator(); ListIterator<Double> itr2 = linkedList2.listIterator(); while(itr1.hasNext() && itr2.hasNext()){ Double d = itr1.next() + itr2.next(); itr1.set(d); } // C# LinkedList<Double>.Enumerator itr1 = linkedList1.GetEnumerator(); LinkedList<Double>.Enumerator itr2 = linkedList2.GetEnumerator(); while(itr1.MoveNext() && itr2.MoveNext()){ Double d = itr1.Current + itr2.Current; // Opps. Compilation error! itr1.Current = d; } Any other technique I can use?

  • replace characters which do not match with the ones in a regex

    - by Cristian Boariu
    Hi, I have this regex: private static final String SPACE_PATH_REGEX ="[a-z|A-Z|0-9|\\/|\\-|\\_|\\+]+"; I check if my string matches this regex and IF NOT, i want to replace all characters which are not here, with "_". I've tried like: private static final String SPACE_PATH_REGEX_EXCLUDE = "[~a-z|A-Z|0-9|\\/|\\-|\\_|\\+]+"; if (myCompanyName.matches(SPACE_PATH_REGEX)) { myNewCompanySpaceName = myCompanyName; } else{ myNewCompanySpaceName = myCompanyName.replaceAll( SPACE_PATH_REGEX_EXCLUDE, "_"); } but it does not work..., so in the 2nd regex "~" seems to not omit the following chars. Any idea?

  • Using Regex, how can I remove certain characters from the inside of tags in a string of html?

    - by Iain Fraser
    Suppose I have a string of html that contains a bunch of control characters and I want to remove the control characters from inside tags only, leaving the characters outside the tags alone. For example Here the control character is the numeral "1". Input The quick 1<strong>orange</strong> lemming <sp11a1n 1class1='jumpe111r'11>jumps over</span> 1the idle 1frog Desired Output The quick 1<strong>orange</strong> lemming <span class='jumper'>jumps over</span> 1the idle 1frog So far I can match tags which contain the control character but I can't remove them in one regex. I guess I could perform another regex on my matches, but I'd really like to know if there's a better way. My regex Bear in mind this one only matches tags which contain the control character. <(([^>])*?`([^>])*?)*?> Thanks very much for your time and consideration. Iain Fraser

  • preg_replace only part of match

    - by Tony Vipros
    Hi, I'm using preg_replace to create urls for modrewrite based paging links. I use: $nextURL = preg_replace('%/([\d]+)/%','/'.($pageNumber+1).'/',$currentURL); which works fine, however I was wondering if there is a better way without having to include the '/' in the replacement parameter. I need to match the number as being between two / as the URLs can sometimes contain numbers other than the page part. These numbers are never only numbers however, so have /[\d]+/ stops them from getting replaced.

  • Help converting PHP eregi to preg_match

    Hi all, I am wondering if someone could please help me convert a piece of PHP code that is now deprecated. Here is the single line I am trying to convert: if(eregi(trim ($request_url_handler[$x]),$this->sys_request_url) && $this->id_found == 0){ It is part of a function that return the configuration settings for a website. Below is the whole function. // GET CORRECT CONFIG FROM DATABASE function get_config($db) { global $tbl_prefix; $db->query("SELECT cid,urls FROM ".$tbl_prefix."sys_config ORDER BY cid"); while($db->next_record()){ $request_url_handler = explode("\n",$db->f("urls")); if(empty($request_url_handler[0])) { $request_url_handler[0] = "@"; $this->id_found = 2; } for($x=0; $x<count($request_url_handler); $x++) { if(empty($request_url_handler[$x])) { $request_url_handler[$x] = "@"; } if(eregi(trim($request_url_handler[$x]),$this->sys_request_url) && $this->id_found == 0) { $this->set_config($db,$db->f("cid")); $this->id_found = 1; } } if($this->id_found == 1) { return($this->sys_config_vars); } } $this->set_config($db,""); return($this->sys_config_vars); } Any help would be great ly appreciated.   • Word VBA - Find text between delimiters and convert to lower case

    - by jJack
    I would like to find text which is between the < and characters, and then turn any found text into "normal" case, where first letter of word is capitalized. Here is what I have thus far: Function findTextBetweenCarots() As String Dim strText As String With Selection .Find.Text = "<" ' what about <[^0-9]+> ? .Find.Forward = True .Find.Wrap = wdFindContinue End With Selection.Find.Execute ' Application.Selection. ' how do I get the text between the other ">"? findCarotSymb = Application.Selection.Text End Function Or, is there a better way of doing this? I also approached the problem using the VBScript Regex 5.5 library, which worked on simple documents, but not on certain documents with complex tables. For example, trying to just bold the text (for simplicity): Sub BoldUpperCaseWords() Dim regEx, Match, Matches Dim rngRange As Range Set regEx = New RegExp regEx.Pattern = "<[^0-9]+>" regEx.IgnoreCase = False regEx.Global = True Set Matches = regEx.Execute(ActiveDocument.Range.Text) For Each Match In Matches ActiveDocument.Range(Match.FirstIndex, Match.FirstIndex + Len(Match.Value)).Bold = True Next End Sub would not work in a document with tables. In fact, it would not even bold the correct text (the text between the <. This leads me to believe I have a broader issue here that I am missing. Here is what a sample doc looks like. Notice the wrong text is bold:

  • How do I replace colours in a movieclip?

    - by Oli
    I am trying to take a movieclip of a character and change the colour of their clothes. The character is comprised of vectors. So far I have semi-sucessfully used this method: stop the movieclip take the bitmap data from the current frame use threshold to replace the colour store the resulting bitmap data in an array add an onenterframe function - clear the current frame and add the bitmap data from the processed data in the array So - this works pretty well. Each frame is only processed once at the beginning and then the write to the movieclip is very quick. However! As the replacement is being performed on a bitmap there is an amount of aliasing that takes place to remove jaggies/pixelation. This produces colours that are not matched using threshold. So the main colour is replaced correctly but it is surrounded by a halo of mixed colours :( I am sure there should be a better way to do this. Any ideas or answers would be greatly apreciated - Thanks.

  • stripping a query string with php (preg_replace)

    - by pg
    http://www.chuckecheese.com/rotator.php?cheese=4&id=1 I want to take out the id, leaving the cheese to stand alone. I tried: $qs = preg_replace("[^&id=*]" ,'',$_SERVER[QUERY_STRING]); But that said I was using an improper modifier. I want to remove "$id=" and whatever number comes after it. Are regexp really as hard as they seem for me?

  • Combine regular expressions for splitting camelCase string into words

    - by stou
    I managed to implement a function that converts camel case to words, by using the solution suggested by @ridgerunner in this question: Split camelCase word into words with php preg_match (Regular Expression) However, I want to also handle embedded abreviations like this: 'hasABREVIATIONEmbedded' translates to 'Has ABREVIATION Embedded' I came up with this solution: <?php function camelCaseToWords($camelCaseStr) { // Convert: "TestASAPTestMore" to "TestASAP TestMore" $abreviationsPattern = '/' . // Match position between UPPERCASE "words" '(?<=[A-Z])' . // Position is after group of uppercase, '(?=[A-Z][a-z])' . // and before group of lowercase letters, except the last upper case letter in the group. '/x'; $arr = preg_split($abreviationsPattern, $camelCaseStr); $str = implode(' ', $arr); // Convert "TestASAP TestMore" to "Test ASAP Test More" $camelCasePattern = '/' . // Match position between camelCase "words". '(?<=[a-z])' . // Position is after a lowercase, '(?=[A-Z])' . // and before an uppercase letter. '/x'; $arr = preg_split($camelCasePattern, $str); $str = implode(' ', $arr); $str = ucfirst(trim($str)); return $str; } $inputs = array( 'oneTwoThreeFour', 'StartsWithCap', 'hasConsecutiveCAPS', 'ALLCAPS', 'ALL_CAPS_AND_UNDERSCORES', 'hasABREVIATIONEmbedded', ); echo "INPUT"; foreach($inputs as $val) { echo "'" . $val . "' translates to '" . camelCaseToWords($val). "'\n"; } The output is: INPUT'oneTwoThreeFour' translates to 'One Two Three Four' 'StartsWithCap' translates to 'Starts With Cap' 'hasConsecutiveCAPS' translates to 'Has Consecutive CAPS' 'ALLCAPS' translates to 'ALLCAPS' 'ALL_CAPS_AND_UNDERSCORES' translates to 'ALL_CAPS_AND_UNDERSCORES' 'hasABREVIATIONEmbedded' translates to 'Has ABREVIATION Embedded' It works as intended. My question is: Can I combine the 2 regular expressions $abreviationsPattern and camelCasePattern so i can avoid running the preg_split() function twice?
