• ImageMagick's `convert` utility takes *too much* memory with PDF input

  I often use ImageMagick's convert for *-PNG conversion, but when PDF has more than 50 pages — convert eats more that 3 Gib (!!!) of memory. I guess it first loads everything. That's unacceptable. It should read PDF page by page, why the heck all of them at once! Maybe there's a way to tune it somehow? Or any good alternatives?

• Can you mount a sysprep image using DISM

  I created a script to mount a sysprepped Windows 7 image to a directory so I can edit a specific file in the image and then unmount it. The script seems to work just fine however, each time I try I seem to be getting some sort of error about the Image. Errors such as: The image is supposedly damaged or corrupted The image mounts but nothing appears in the directory So I guess the overall question is it possible to mount an syprepped Windows 7 Wim Image into a directory?

  I have a simple PowerPoint presentation and I would like to convert it to Flash or Silverlight. The presentation is a simple "Slide after Slide after Slide" and my first guess was to use OpenOffice Impress. Sadly, the picture quality is awful. I would need the presentation to be in a specific format (900 Pixels wide and as high as it needs to be, usually 675 pixels) Can you recommend any good, simple PowerPoint = Flash or Silverlight converter that does that?

  I'm trying to generate a username using a single name field in excel which has the person's first name and last name. I'm open to what the username would be, as long as its intuitive for the user. The name fields can be tricky, as the data looks like this: Albert Abongo (2 names) Stephen Michael Essuah Ackah (4 names) Alhaji Iddrisu Abdul-KArim (3 names) I guess my ideal usernames for these people would be aabongo sackah aabdul-karim

• How to stop access to file while it is being uploded by FTP on Windows server 2008

  I'm using FTP 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2. When I upload a file and it is partially uploaded I'm able to move it before it has completed. Is there a way to stop this? I see an option under Advanced settings-Behaviour-File Handling-Allow reading files while uploading but this doesn't seem to do the trick. I guess it's write access that I need to stop. It seemed to have this functionality by default on IIS6.

  i have setup an exchange 2010 account on microsoft outlook 2010 and i can read my emails, but i am not able to send emails, when i create a new email and click send, the messages are not sent, they don't even get to the outbox folder. my guess is that the issue is not from exchange itself, becuase i can send emails with this exchange account with java code using smtp port 25 please advise how to fix this issue.

  I just tried to install Windows 7 x64 SP1 on my desktop computer, but 10 minutes in to the installation i get this error: The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect. ERROR_INVALID_NAME(0x8007007b) My guess is that I have to reinstall the OS, but I'm wondering if I somehow can get a more detailed error message. I want to know what has got the wrong name/path? Anybody know? EDIT: I pressed enter after selecting a tag, before I had finished the question.

• Replicate From OpenDJ to OpenLDAP?

  I am considering retiring some of our older OpenDJ LDAP servers and replacing with OpenLDAP. (seems to be more widely supported) I am wondering if it's possible to replicate directly from OpenDJ to OpenLDAP as an interim solution to remove the OpenDJ slaves and then flip the master over later. Is LDAP replication implementation specific or more general? I guess I'll have to just go give it a try, but I was looking for advice from someone who's been down this road.

  Hi all, I want to set up Postfix to relay mail from a group of webservers. I would like to limit senders by IP so I can restrict the box to only my webservers, so I don't have an open relay and don't have to worry about authentication. So, what I guess I need is to limit inbound access but allow mail to be sent to any outbound address.   I'm trying to search and replace in excel, the column is formatted as 'Text'. Find: [@ replace with: @ Whenever this finds a match at the start of a cell i.e the cell contents start with [@ and tries to replace that with @ the result is an error 'This function is not valid' I guess that since the @ operator is for references, this is causing the cell to be interpreted differently (not as text anymore) How do I make this replacement work? Copy/paste into another program is not a good option because some of the cells contain line-breaks.

  I have this command to create a service: sc create svnserve binpath="\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subversion\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --root C:\SVNRoot" displayname="Subversion" depend=tcpip start=auto obj="NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" Unfortunately, it seems not to work, even though the syntax is correct. When I run it, I get the usage instructions (which I guess is a way of telling me that I've supplied incorrect arguments, although I have no idea what incorrect argument I might have supplied). • How do I restore system default settings on Linux Mint KDE?

  I did something weird and now my text size is like 3pt on every system window, but when I go in and change my window fonts to larger to something that looks normal, it makes my clock, bash, and other fonts absolutely gigantic. Is there any way I can just roll back my system and it's settings? It wouldn't be much bother as I installed the OS yesterday. I'd hate to have to reinstall entirely though, but I guess it's an option.
